Help, Expression Failed And Broke Package

Hi,
I have a derived column task that evaluates a datefield from a file. This is the syntax I've been using, and it's been working like a champ for several days in a row now. However, this morning it broke.
Unfortunately, I'm not exactly sure how it works (bad, I know), so I'm not sure what's causing the problem.
Any ideas?

Dear all,
I've built SSIS package and made a job to execute it automatically but it always returns an error. The job returns OK but when we looked at the Log File viewer, it conatins this error log :
Key not valid for use in specified state
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS Password" with error
What's wrong with the package ?

when i right click and execute the package from the Management Studio, it runs fine, everytime. When i schedule a job to execute it, it fails, everytime.
"The package execution failed. The step failed."
i have made sure that the package and job ran using credentials with more than enough access to everything. Still, with no luck. PLEASE! I am at my wits ends here, and the boss is getting antsey...
Any and all help is greatly appreciated...

I use a execute package task to run a child package in which I run some sql task.
as the error handle I insert a script task and link a line from execute package task to script task
of course the line is red,
but I found when the child package failed, the execute package task turns red,it stopped
the script task can't be run, I don't konw why?

I am receiving an error on my master package that executes a number of other packages. The individual packages work fine when executed by themselves. However, I am getting the following error when I attempt to execute it from another package:
Error: Failed to acquire connection "conneciton". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.

I am trying to add a filter and sorting to a matrix, within the matrix I have a column which works out the percentage and is as follows

I tried enclosing the query in Abs( ), which I have done in the past, although in the past I wasn't using Lookup functions so I don't know if that is the reason it won't work.

I have been using SSIS for a while now, originally in SQL 2008 but more lately SQL 2012.
I discovered the GETDATE() function in SSIS so I thought I would use this in a variable expression in a Master/Driver package with the child parameters mapped to this variable. A big mistake. The value is not persisted, it gets updated each time the variable is read, so it's back to setting the variable value using a script task in the Master/Driver package.

Hi
I am using sql reporting service 2005 with .NET 2.0.
I have created a custom dll file for report and put this dll in appropriate folder.
Report is running fine in designer project.
but when I am trying to view this report after uploading to report manager it give me an error like
Failed to load expression host assembly. Details: The type initializer for 'CableReporting.Utilities' threw an exception. (rsErrorLoadingExprHostAssembly)Is there any solution for that?

I had just installed SQL 2005 dev on my laptop and got an error message when I tried to create a package using the BI IDE. I received the same error using VS2005 IDE. But the project was created regardless without any packages. When I tried to create a new package in the project, I received the same error again, but with an option to view the error details.
Following is the text of the error details:

I found a similar post that suggested that they try the following:
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml4.dll
regsvr32 msxml6.dll
But msxml6.dll could not be found.
I did get a copy of this file from a coworker, and after copying it and registering it, I was able to add a package to the project.
My concern now is what is the likelyhood of this being the only file missing from the installation.
I'm wondering if I should reinstall, or (if it exists) do a repair on the installation.

I am trying to programmatically execute a package that contains an Execute SQL Task component bound to a variable for its "SqlStatementSource" property (via an expression). The variable is of type String and contains a simple value of "SELECT 1". The Execute SQL Task contains an expression that sets the SqlStatementSource property to the value of this variable.
The package runs fine when I execute it via dtexec or BIDS, but when I attempt to run it via the object model, I receive the following error message:
The result of the expression ""@[User::Sql]"" on property "SqlStatementSource" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the property.
I did a search on this forum and noticed quite a few threads about this same issue, but no explanation/solution. We have quite a few packages that have dynamically constructed SQL statements for Execute SQL Tasks, and they are all failing to run via the object model. Is there something that I am missing?

Hi,
I created a Custom Task which it has a Property called ConfigFilePath. I'm overriding the Validate() method from Task. I want to throw an error if my property ConfigFilePath is empty and if the expression for this property is empty. So far, I can check if the property is empty but I don't see how I can access the Expressions Collection of my Custom Task.
Any thoughts? I'd appreciate your help.

so i installed sql server and i was using it within enterprise manager. Then it broke when i started trying to make my web application connect to my database. So my connection string was:
server=(local);database=capacity;User ID=dbo;trusted_connection=False
i got this error: Login failed for user 'dbo'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
so i tried messing around with the string and found something online that said i should right click the server (local) and go to the security settings and change it to mixed mode, sql server authentication AND windows authentication. Before it was just windows authentication. So i did that...and now i get this error when i try to open up my server in enterprise manager:
A connection could not be established to (local)
Reason: Login failed for user 'samr'. Reason Not associated with a trusted SQL Server Connection..
Please verify SQL Server is running (which it is) and check your SQL server registration properties by right clicking on the local node and try again.
i can right click on it, but whenever i do anything (go to properties, click the '+' icon) i get this message:
Connection failed. Check sql server registration properties.
please help...
should i delete the registration and just start over...?
why couldnt i connect into sql server...?

Hi all,
On one my cluster box, all the previous connections got broke when the cluster service move/roll over to secondary server.The previous connections were on primary server and when the roll over occurs, all these connections didn't roll over but only new connections does.
I want to know that the significance of cluster is only for new connections ?
Any ideas are highly appreciate.

I had IIS (7 beta I believe) working perfectly on Vista Home Premier. My web site is Access database driven with a mix of VBscrip and JScript in asp pages.
After a recent Windows update it is now broken! I am getting ODBC errors although I the code I used was working fine before;
strCon = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=C:Inetpubwwwrootdatabasesadm1n.mdb"
Is the driver wrong now? The file has not changed location and was working fine before the update.
Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

Hi there,
I'm creating an SSIS package that will execute legacy dts packages. The package to be executed is decided at runtime using a sql query task.
Executing a dts package statically works fine, but when I try to set the details of the dts to be run via expressions, I get the error below.
To make it dynamic, I created a variable of type string, and put the package name in here. I also have a string variable for the packageid. Then I set up an expression on the Execute DTS 2000 Package Task that sets the PackageName & PackageID property to this variable.
The PackageId is a string variable I've retrieved using:

from sysdtspackages
where name = @PackageName

When I use the task to set the package id it works find (by selecting a dts, then changing the name), but when I try to provide the package id I get this message:

but the method signature specifies String PackageGuid, and it is a string..
any ideas??
i tried casting the variable like so:
(DT_GUID) @[User:TSPkgId], as the versionid is a uniqueidentifier on sysdtspackages.. It didn't like that at all (can't cast from type DT_WSTR to DT_GUID error code 0xC00470C2)

I tried each of the following, but had to cancel them as nothing much had happened after 3+ minutes (apart from the activity indicator 'Executing query' showing a green rotation in SQL Server Management Studio Express.)

q2: Why does it take so long to run either of the above commands - without actually getting an error?
q3: What Service Broker configuration do I need for my database?

I previously had an ASP.NET 1.1 site running on my IIS 6.0 server (not the default website) with Reporting Services running in a subdirectory of that website. I recently upgraded to ASP.NET 2.0 for my website and was greeted with an error when trying to view a report. The error was very non-descript, but when I checked the server logs, it recorded the details as "It is not possible to run two different versions of ASP.NET in the same IIS process. Please use the IIS Administration Tool to reconfigure your server to run the application in a separate process."
First of all, I could not figure out where and how to do this. Secondly, I decided to try to also change the Reporting Services folders to run ASP.NET 2.0 and when I did, I was greeted with the following message when attempting to view a report:
"Failed to load expression host assembly. Details: StrongName cannot have an empty string for the assembly name."
Please help.

If I create a website in VWD express and create a database in the APP_DATA folder it works great. Then if I attach it in SQL Management Studio, when I go back to opening the website I get MyMachineaspnet can not log into database. Even if I copy the database.mdf file of a working site to a different folder, rename it, attach it. The original website fails to open the original database. With out changing anything. If it's a DNN website it returns Website currently unavalable. After this happens I can in VWD open and see the tables in the database. I think databases created in the APP_DATA folder in VWD are "User Instances" I don't normally see them in SQL management Studio. Something about the Studio breaks them.
This is getting old real quick so PLEASE tell me what am missing here. Thanks

While working to try and install and evaluate 3rd party versions of the SQL Enterprise Manager on our SBS 2003, I managed to break our MDAC installation and the results are non-functional Veritas BackupExec (needs the SQL MSDE instance to work), I seem to have broken RAS in the process and our Web access for Outlook 2003 broke too.

I have a managed code DLL that is used as a CLR assembly in my database. A stored procedure in the database references this CLR assembly.
My CLR assembly has a dependency on Microsoft's System.Management.dll.
In order to get my assembly to work, I added System.Management.dll as an assembly to the database using:
CREATE ASSEMBLY SystemManagement
FROM 'C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.Management.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE
GO
For months this stored procedure has worked fine... up until today.
Today (7/11/07) I noticed a new Microsoft update was available.
I applied the patch to an XP machine that has my database and now my CLR assembly stored procedure no longer works.
I checked a 2003 Server machine that did not have the latest patch and see that the stored procedure is working fine.
I then apply Microsoft update to the 2003 server machine.
Now the stored procedure no longer works on the 2003 machine.
I deleted my stored procedure and CLR assembly and then added them back with no success.
I then deleted and added back the System.Management.dll assembly again and suddenly now my stored procedure works again.
This is BAD. I can't have Windows updates blowing up my app.
What am I doing wrong here?
I must use the System.Management.dll in my CLR stored procedure but I can't have changes to Microsoft's files causing me to be unable to reference them as assemblies.
How can my CLR stored procedure assembly reference a Microsoft assembly such that changes to the Microsoft assembly does not cause version mismatches?

I had a cluster running on 3 nodes (windows failover cluster) with server 2012 and SQL server 2012 running in the cluster. Well, I thought I'd just go ahead and rename all 3 of the hosts with new hostnames and it apparently broke the cluster pretty bad. Now when I open failover cluster manager I cannot see anything nor can I connect to the cluster object in AD. I re-named all of the hosts back to their original names but that didn't work.

I have this stored procedure that takes a few parameters like date andmerchant ID, and basically goes through a set of if-then statements to builda SQL SELECT string.When we upgraded from SQL Server 7.0 to 2000, the stored procedure stillworked from Query Analyzer, but not in BCP. It used to work in BCP justfine with 7.0. I'm try to upgrade SQL Server 2005 Evaluation with tuned up and worked merge replication.
- I'm insert disk with licensed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise, start installation - in process, indicate instance for installing, in list of options appears I see option "ugrade"
- All passes fine and go on:
After upgarde I'm get completely broken merge replication!
Moreover, such feeling that certain strange troubles with SQL Agent:
all points context menu in Replication Monotor - disabled and if I try to start replication manually through jobs - too failed - with some error "agent shutdown" !
I'm try to build "clear" situation: install in Virtual PC Windows 2003 Ent SP1, SQL 2005 Eval and setup my test replication and upgrade SQL Server to Enterprise version - and get same trouble too!!!
What the best way to uprade my evaluations sql servers with replication to licensed version SQL Ent?

Since SP2 was installed on our SSRS server a couple of days ago, reports viewed in the client Report Viewer control (with or without VS SP1) show a black background when in Print Layout Mode. All other rendering options work fine. Anyone else seen this? Any clues how to fix?

I am trying to run DTS Package from ASP 3.0 with the following codes:
Set objDTSPackage = server.CreateObject("DTS.Package")
objDTSPackage.LoadFromSQLServer "serverName", "", "", 256,,,,"pkgName"
objDTSPackage.FailOnError = true
objDTSPackage.Execute
It failed with this message, "Package failed because Step 'DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1' failed".
I am using NT Authentication in both IIS and SQLServer, and both Web and SQLServer are in the same machine.
Can someone help? Thank you.

I've designed a package using 'SSIS import/export wizard'. This package just copy some tables from one server to another. First time the package execute successfully but next day it fails. I am not sure what am I doing wrong. Any ideas?

I just deployed my first interface and below is the error message

The interface is just to copy the data from 1 database to another based on a date. I suspect that i could have missed a step during the deployment, can someone tell me if the error is caused me forgetting to configure something during the step up of the job or is it network related

Hi,
I am getting the following error message, when I was trying to execute an existing SSIS Package which was working properly before.
"Failed to Start Package
Cannot communicate with the debug host process. Failed to obtain child process active object. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)"
So I tried creating a new package and execute it, still I am getting the same error message.
If anyone have come across this problem and rectified it, pls let me know.

I am trying to design package which would copy all tables and stored procedures from one server to another. It used to be simple task in SQL 2000, there was wizard. However the new wizard does not work...
I wrote SSIS package, but when I execute I get the following error: "Can not apply value null to property Login..."
Any idea? It seems to me that this new SQl2005 is not that simple to use like 2000. 2000 was a great product. I am considering to rollback to 2000. Very frustrated with the new one...

Morning,
I installed the managerment stuid on my machine and now none of my database connections seem to work any more. I keep getting the attached error. Before I installed the studio the system worked fine, I could connect to the database and everything was fine. Does the studio change any permission stuff? I cannot seem to get it to work again at all now, I added in aspnet as a login inside the studio and it still won't let me connect to the database. I cannot find *any* logs anywhere that might be helpful in what it is doing or see any way to debug the connection to find out what the problem is. When I look at the permissions inside of the studio it shows me that the connections should all be fine.
I checked and remote and local connections are setup, although it is only doing local connections anyway since this is a asp.net web server page.
Any idea what the problem is here? This is very frustrating and annoying :( Since I didn't change anything and now nothing I will do gets it to work. I even tried to uninstall the management tool and it still doesn't work.

I have a big problem and i'm not able to find any hint on the Network.
I have a window2000 pc, VS2005,II5 and SQLServer 2005(dev edition)
I created an SSIS Package (query to DB and the result is loaded into an Excel file) that works fine.
I imported the dtsx file inside my "Stored Packages".
I would like to load and run the package programmatically on a Remote Scenario using the web services.
I created a solution with web service and web page that invoke the web service.
When my code execute:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, ".", Nothing)
I got the Error:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
The error message doesn't help so much and there is nothing on the www to give me and advice....
Is it a SSIS problem???
