This is my code, I have followed the wizard perfectly the way its supposed ot be, well not 100% perfectly. This is how its supposed to be. When using a XXXX.MDF file I could use the wizard and it works fine. I do not know why my above code won't work. I am connected to the database and can view code manually. but not on a aspx page.
i am using master page, now trying to add this into default.aspx
Any help will be appreciated. I am currently losing some hair.
In VS 2005, when we choose database connection, we can choose one of the above. My question is in what situations should we choose MS SQL Server Database File (SqlClient), and when should we choose Microsoft SQL Server?
I want to deploy a standalone desktop application with a backend database. Which backend database should I should and which of the above connection should I choose?
While learning ASP.net 2.0, I was taught that the the default provider for the SqlDataSource was System.Data.SqlClient, and that I only needed to specify it as a provider when I put it in the web.config file. However, now (in VWDE 2008) when I add a SqlDataSource to a page, it adds ProviderName="System.Data.SqlClient". Does this mean that it isnt the default anymore?
We are developing Asp.Net Application in following environment.
Windows 2003 Dot Net 2003 SQL Server 2000
Problem :
We have team of four people. We made one machine as database server and rest of the people trying to connect to that database server. we are getting error "SQL server not found.".
We are using following string as a connection string.
My web project (ASP.NET 2.0 / C#) runs against sql server 2000 and uses the System.Data.SqlClient.using System.Data.SqlClient; I use System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection and System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand to make the connections to the database and do selects and updates. Is it correct to continue to use these against SQL Server 2005? I ask because I made a connection string (outside of .Net) for SqlServer 2005 using the SQL native provider and it had the following - Provider=SQLNCLI.1 and any connection strings I had made (also outside of ASP.NET) fro SQL Server all used Provider=SQLOLEDB.1. This is why I wondered if there is a different SqlClient in .Net 2.0 for SQL Server 2005? Cheers Al
On localhost this application works fine but when I put on remote server. I am getting following errors. For both localhost and server, I am using same remote sql 2000. I will appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Arif

I have an asp.net 1.1 (vb.net) application which accesses data from a sql server 2000. I published this application on http://test.autenmas.co.za and the database I access is on 196.23.156.196. I am getting this error message when I run the application from this site:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
But it's working fine on my local, development machine. I am using the following connection string in my connections:
"Data source=196.23.56.193; Initial Catalog=Autenmas; User Id=xxxx; password=yyyy"
Is there anything wrong with my code, is there anything that must be done on the web/database server or any other configurations for that matter, what really is the problem??????
Is it possible to connect to an Access database on my local drive, or does it have to an SQL database? Here is the error I am getting: Server Error in ' 'Application.

I have lots of problems with the connection. I've connected many dropdownlists to the database and i didn't have problems at all. I also try an example of an ASP.NET book: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString= "<%$ ConnectionStrings:CIPPEC%>" InsertCommand= "INSERT INTO [member] ([first_name], [last_name], [malefemale], [yearborn]) VALUES (@first_name, @last_name, @malefemale, @yearborn)"> <InsertParameters> <asp:FormParameter Name="first_name" Type="String" FormField="FirstTextBox" /> <asp:FormParameter Name="last_name" Type="String" FormField="LastTextbox"/> <asp:FormParameter Name="malefemale" Type="Int32" FormField="MFRadioButton" /> <asp:FormParameter Name="yearborn" Type="Int32" FormField="YearDropDown" /> </InsertParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource> And it worked well. I don't know what else i could try, i tried it at home and at work and i couldn't connect to my database and make an INSERT. It stops at Connect.Open() with the error that i wrote in this subject message. It's evident that i'm doing something wrong (because i'm new): Could you please help me with a solution and explain me what are the data that i have to put on the Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection ?? I'm using the Windows authentication: i'm putting my username and password and it doesn't worked. Thank you!!
I have SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. And my operating system is Windows Vista.
I have written a procedure in C# and deployed it on SQL Server. However when i try to run it i get the following error. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The locale identifier (LCID) 16393 is not supported by SQL Server
Also I tried using same procedure in Windows XP machine and it workd fine. Can anyone help me what could be the problem?

Hello,I'm having problems saving and then displaying binary data in sql server.I have a form that takes a file specified by the user and inserts this into sql server:protected void btnUploadFile_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (theFile.PostedFile != null) { if (theFile.PostedFile.ContentLength > 0) { byte[] docBuffer = new byte[theFile.PostedFile.ContentLength]; Response.Write(theFile.PostedFile.ContentType.ToString()); if (docBuffer.Length > 0) { // save to db DbAccess dbAccess = new DbAccess(); // my helper function for all db access etc try { dbAccess.BuildCommand("Incentives_SaveDocument"); dbAccess.Parameters.Add("@docImage", SqlDbType.Image).Value = docBuffer; dbAccess.ExecuteNonQuery(); } catch (Exception ex) { Response.Write(ex.ToString()); } } } } }Stored proc:ALTER PROCEDURE Incentives_SaveDocument @docImage imageASSET NOCOUNT ONINSERT INTO Table1 (theData) VALUES (@docImage) RETURNThis appears to work fine. I store the binary data in a image column and if I query the db it shows the row as <Binary>.The problem I have is with retrieving the data and saving it to a file. The file saves OK but when I open it is contains lots of "squares" that I suppose are the binary - it doesn't show the text.The code for retrieving/displaying the doc is:protected void btnView_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { DbAccess dbAccess = new DbAccess(); byte[] byteArray = null; try { dbAccess.BuildCommand("Incentives_RetrieveDocument"); dbAccess.Parameters.Add("@id", SqlDbType.Int).Value = 6; // id for the doc to return SqlDataReader reader1 = dbAccess.ReturnDataReader(); while (reader1.Read()) { if (reader1.HasRows) { byteArray = (byte[])reader1["theData"]; } } reader1.Close(); FileStream fs = new FileStream("file1", FileMode.CreateNew, FileAccess.Write); fs.Write(byteArray, 0, byteArray.Length); fs.Flush(); fs.Close(); FileInfo fileInfo = new FileInfo("file1"); HttpContext.Current.Response.Clear(); HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileInfo.Name); HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", fileInfo.Length.ToString()); HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/msword"; HttpContext.Current.Response.WriteFile(fileInfo.FullName); HttpContext.Current.Response.End(); } catch (Exception ex) { Response.Write(ex.ToString()); } finally { dbAccess.CloseDbConnection(); }The stored proc:ALTER PROCEDURE Incentives_RetrieveDocument @id intASSET NOCOUNT ONSELECT * FROM Table1 WHERE id = @id RETURNI would be grateful for any advice on this - its the first time I've worked with BLOB data.ThanksSi

Hi Everyone, I have an ASP.Net webpage for uploading multiple files. The process is, when the client uploads files..using SQL queries I am inserting into a database1 and then calling a stored procedure to remove garbage data from database1 and insert this new data into a production database(Database2). Well, I hope, after my endless search in the web... maybe, somebody can help me here.I'm passing a application to a web-based application, therefore I have to use ADO.net to access a sql server DB. But the performance is extremly poor!!!!Just to compare: with the normal application or with the SQL Query Analyzer, the query needs about 2 seconds. Well, by using ado.net, it's about 200 seconds......!!!!Of course, the query is quite long. But the difference is extrem... too extrem for using the same query....I already tried a lot... actually everything I found on the web. What is really strange is that neither the processor nor the memory is fully used... And the web server use more of the cpu power than the sql server itself (the 2 server are still on my machine where I'm programming). So, could it be that the problem is by filling up the dataset with the sqladapter or something similar?Thx for your help!!
Hi! Today we installed our ASP.NET Application on a 64-bit server for the first time. We got the error 'Unable to find entry point named 'InterlockedIncrement' in DLL 'kernel32.dll''. This error comes when we make a database query using Microsoft.Data.Odbc. I think it does not run on 64-bit machines. Does anybody know something about this? KaaN

I download the DAAB CF version. However, most of them use SQLCEClient to connect to the database. Is there any DAAB that use SQLClient? One workaround that I made is I replaced all SQLCEClient objects with the SQLClient objects. I only test one method "ExecuteDataset" and it works so far. However, my question is "does my workaround a good solution?"
Hello I am developing a web application that will allow users to upload a .mdb file and from that file I need to populate an SQL database. I know the table name of the .mdb file, but I am unclear how to structure my data access layer correctly. How do I pull data from the .mdb file and once I have it how do i populate the SQL database?Any advice would be greatly appreciated.thanks!
