I just moved a database from one server to the other and now I'm getting an error when I try to modify a field in my table from management studio:
- sql2005 the user does not have permission to perform this action.
I made sure to remove all users from that database once i got it up and running on my new server and made sure I didn't have orphaned users.
I created a new userid and gave it full dbo rights. I planned on restricting permissions later.
Is there something new to check in 2005 that would prevent a user with full dbo to modify data in a table?
The table has no constraints or dependencies, it's basically a lookup table so very simple stuff.
This is my first time to deploy an asp.net2 web site. Everything is working fine on my local computer but when i published the web site on a remote computer i get the error "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed" (only in pages that try to access the database) Help pleaseee
I'm having a problem with some data in our database, basically a web app is storing data into the DB and then recalling it to display to a user. The problem I am having is that for one particular function the DB is causing the app to fail, the app code works for 95% of the data inserted into the DB by the users but it is failing on a few records.. I'v gone through the data manually checking for funny characters or spaces or anything else which is different from the other records, but everything seems to be in order. I doubt very much that this is a system app code problem as the code is working perfectly for all the other records...
Can anyone advise me on what else I can check.. really stuck on this one guys

When creating a user control (ascx) and registering it in the webpage, an error occurred: "Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection." This error does not appear when creating data access normally, and I don't use username/password for the northwind database; any suggestions.

Is it possible to allow a user to insert and update data in a table but prevent them from performing deletes against that same table? For auditing purposes I need to prevent the end users from being able to delete data.

I have SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMS Express) and SQL Server 2005 Express (SS Express) installed in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft Windows NT 4 LAN System. My Computer Administrator grants me the Administror Privilege to use my PC. I tried to use SQLQuery.sql (see the code below) to create a table "LabResults" and insert 20 data (values) into the table. I got Error Messages 102 and 156 when I did "Parse" or "Execute". This is my first time to apply the data type 'decimal' and the "VALUES" into the table. I do not know what is wrong with the 'decimal' and how to add the "VALUES": (1) Do I put the precision and scale of the decimal wrong? (2) Do I have to use "GO" after each "VALUES"? Please help and advise.

I have several reports for users to view on our Intranet. After installation of SQL 2005 SP2 patch, I cannot delete user or user's authority from Report in Properties Tab. An error message was shown on the status bar. It indicated that JavaScript Error: 'Return' statement outside of function. Seems something wrong with the 'Delete' funciton in SQL 2005 after update. The other functions worked fine. Could you point me out how to fix it or need to install any updates / hotfix. Thanks a lot!
All the research I found dealing with this problem is that the solution is to set SQLserver to mix mode. I have SQL server already set to mix mode. I am not sure what else to do. I was wondering whether there is a way to show the user an error when the user did not select a specific parameter.
In my case, I have two optional parameters. The user has to select either one to view the report. If the user does not select either one, I would like to show some sort of an error page indicating so. However, all i am getting is a complete blank with no report in sight. I as a developer know this is an error as a result of missing parameters, but i was wondering whether I could produce a page or direct it to a page so that the user doesn't go all horrified at an empty page ?
I received the above error yesterday and haven't been able to trace it to any job or process running. We haven't implemented any changes to the server in the past few months, and it doesn't look to be a user-established connection, since the Client IP Address of the SSPI handshake error is from the server itself.

When I execute select * from test1...COUNTRY I get the error. "The OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "...." does not contain the table "COUNTRY". The table either does not exist or the current user does not have permissions on that table." The 'sp' user I am connecting is the owner of the table. What could be the problem ? Thanks a lot.
i'm using the Enterpirse library logger to write logs into a database. When choosing connection string i choose the database i want in the "connection properties" dialog box and push 'Test connection' button. everything goes well.
then i open the SQL Server Management studio express and connect to the databse to check some things, from that point on , when i push the 'Test Connection' button in the Enterprise library i get the error:
"cannot open user default database. Login failed. login failed for user My'server/MyuserName'"
even when i close the sql server manager , it is still stuck - the connection test doesn't work anymore.... it only work when i restart the computer.
Hi all Recently i was asked to design and implement an On-line WebSite for a Shop Store.I decided to define some Category for this Shop's Products such as MP3-Players,Mobiles,Televisions,Monitors and so on....and then Assign each product to a certain Category.Something like Amazon.Com , So i designed my Category and Product Table as follow: Category Table----------------CatID int Primary-KeyCatDesc varchar(50) Product Table-------------ProductIDProductDescCatID After that i noticed that each category has its own Fields and Property and sometimes somecategories have common Fields for example , Price ,Color are two Common Property or Fieldsfor all Categories that i mentioned earlier But , Size is a special property for only[Monitor] or [Television] Categories and isn't useable for [Mice] or [KeyBoard] categories for example. Referring to the book "Data Mining with SQL Server 2005" written by ZhaoHui Tang, I created a Mining Structure and a Mining Model with the AMO API after creating Database and Data Access Objects(referred to code lists from 14-1 to 14-6). I added Nested Table by creating a table column and added a key column to the nested table, while the error showed that in my structure the column of the nested table didn't include effective data bindings when processing.

When we try to export to excel a SQL client report containing tables that were grouped based on some data in two tables of a dataset I am receiving the following error

I have a table that is fairly large, and I need to make a change to one of the columns in the table. Namely I need to change the datatype and rename that column. When I try to save the updated table, I keep getting a timeout error that says.
'eligibility (dbo)' table - Unable to create index 'PK_eligibility'. Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
Any ideas on how to make the table change more efficient or change the timeout period. I need to keep the existing data in the table. I am using sql server managment studio(2005) connected to a sql server 2000 database.

hi , i am getting the above error message once in a while maybe two or 3 times a week , and then it goes away in 10 to 15 minutes or 5 minutes ,
our mode is set to mixed and we are able to connect and use both sql and windows , but once in a while , it will give us the above message when we try connecting throught sql server management studio client (using sql 05) using windows login , although it lets us connect using sql login while the windows login is denied, and after a while it lets us connect with both.
occurs randomly on some days , we run our servers on VM ware virtual machines using windows 2003 r2 enterprise 64 bit with sp2 with esx 301 virtual machine.
