I'm using VS 2005 SP 1 on my first project with CE. I've recently run into the problem that if I do anything with my SDF file in Visual Studio I get the following error when I run the project (in debug mode from VS):
The process cannot access the file 'C:xxxMySDF.sdf' because it is being used by another process.
The solution is to close the project and reopen it however this is getting painful. Anyone else seen this problem?
My server is 64 bits and sql server 32. When i run the SSIS package in SSIS itīs works correctly, but when i make the .manifest to install the package in my server i got the error :

Hi, I have some SSIS Deployment Manifest Files that needs to be copied over into another server. I am just using the Package installation wizard to do this. But it is taking to long to run.( I have 19 simple packages and it is taking 15 minutes).
Is there any way that I can use to achieve better performance in this?
Hi guys i'm a newbie to this forums so hopefully i've posted in the right place, so here goes .....
My company has been given a CMS to look at, thing is everything seems to be working except for this beasty stored procedure.. the purpose of this stored procedure is to gather data and output it as xml, but for some reason and i havent a clue why - i am getting an error stated below - i have also attahced the stored procedured in hopes of some kind gurus can help me
Appreciate any and all help guys andy
ERRROR MESSAGE: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e21' Parent tag ID 1 is not among the open tags. FOR XML EXPLICIT requires parent tags to be opened first. Check the ordering of the result set.
When I create a deployment utility I... - set AllowConfigurationChanges to True. - set CreateDeploymentUtility to True - DeploymentOutputPath is set to binDeployment - I click 'Build' and it creates the binDeployment directory and writes all my DTSX files and my dtsConfig file But it doesn't create a manifest file. Why not? Thanks
Hi, I want to run "Intergration Services Deployment Manifest" through the command prompt, passing the values .. which should basically go and install that Package either on File System or SQL Server. Does any one have any idea on how to do that ...
When I attempt to generate a datasource model I get the following error messages: ------------------------------------------------ More than one item in the Entity 'Customer' has the name 'Customer Merge Custs'. Item names must be unique among immediate siblings. (DuplicateItemName)
More than one Field in the Entity 'Customer' has the name 'Customer Merge Custs'. Field names must be unique within an Entity. (DuplicateFieldName)
More than one item in the Entity 'Pricing Service Layout Detail' has the name 'Pricing Service Extensions'. Item names must be unique among immediate siblings. (DuplicateItemName)
More than one Field in the Entity 'Pricing Service Layout Detail' has the name 'Pricing Service Extensions'. Field names must be unique within an Entity. (DuplicateFieldName) ---------------------------------------------------
Examining any of the above tables in SQL Server Management Studio does not reveal any duplicate column names. In fact, 'Customer_Merge_Custs' does not appear to be a column in 'Customer' nor does 'Pricing_Service_Extensions' appear in 'Pricing_Service_Layout_Detail'.
As an experiment, deleting the table 'Pricing_Service_Extensions' and regenerating did make the two associated messages go away.
Use sp_configure 'user instances enabled' to generate user instances.
I get the above error when I attempt to add an SQL Database item into my VS (C#) project. I do not understand what needs to be done to correct the problem.
I try to generate ad hoc reporting model for analysis services cube in reporting services. in Management Studio I connected to reporting services, defined a data source to the analysis services database. But If i try to generate model i get the error: "While connection with a data source a mistake has appeared, or the query is invalid for the data source. (rsCannotPrepareQuery)(Report Services SOAP Proxy Source)"
I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum. If not I apologize. I have a nested select query that I imported from Oracle:
Oracle Version:
Code Snippetselect avg(days) as days from ( select dm_number, max(dm_closedate) - max(comment_closed_date) as days from dm_data where dm_type = 'prime' and dm_closedate <= '31-dec-2007' and dm_closedate >= '1-dec-2007' and program = 'aads' group by dm_number)
SQL Version:
select round(abs(avg(days)), 0) as days from (select dm.dm_number, abs(datediff(DAY,max(dm.dm_closedate), max(dm.comment_closed_date))) as days from dm_data dm, ProgramXref px where px.Program_Name = 'aads' and dm.Program_Id = px.Program_Id and dm.dm_type = 'prime' and dm.dm_closedate <= '31-dec-2007' and dm.dm_closedate >= '1-dec-2007' group by dm.dm_number)
In Oracle the query runs fine. In SQL I am getting a "Line 10: Incorrect syntax near ')'." error. If I run just the nested portion of the query, there are no errors. It only happens when the first query tries to query the nested query. Can anyone help me get the syntax correct?
I have setup merge replication which successfully synchronizes with a group of desktop users using SQL Compact Edition.
However now I have setup Article Filters and when I attempt to regenerate the snapshot I get the following error:
Invalid column name 'rowguid'.
Failed to generate merge replication stored procedures for article 'AssignedCriteria'.
When I look at publication properties at the Articles page.. All my tables have the rowguid uniqueidentifier successfully added to tables and selected as a compulsory published column, apart from the table above "AssignedCriteria".. Even when I attempt to select this column in the article properties page and press ok, when I come back it is deselected again. ( The Rowguid column is however physically added to the table)
I have scripted the publication SQL and then totally reinstalled from scratch, including the database but for some reason it doesn't like this table. I remove the article filters, but still this "rowguid" is never "selected" in article properties.
We are using Uniqueidentifiers in other columns as well for historical reasons, but this doesn't appear to be a problem in other tables..
I am developing a ASP.NET application using SQL Server as my database. I want to create a number that is unique.
The number will have 8 digits.
first 2 digits correspond to year. ex:04 or 03
the next 6 digits start with 000001 and it should get added for each new entry of data.
i am not able to generate number in the way i said. I am relatively new to SQL. so any suggestions as how to go about solving the problem???. Are there any samples/codes available for this.
I have generated an SQL script such that when it is run, it will automatically create tables if not existing or drop the existing tables. The problem I have is that, is there any way I can also make the script create not only the tables but also transfer the data from the old database to the new database?
I would really appreciate if any of you could point me to any existing programs, scripts etc that can do that. Thanks in advance
Is there a way to generate SQL Scripts from a stored procedure?
For disaster recovery and documenation reasons, we'd like to create scripts of our databases periodically. I, being somewhat lazy, would like to automate this so I really don't have to remember to run this every so often.
I am unable to see how to generate a leading zero.
Table A
declare @TableA table ( ID numeric , Fruits varchar(10) ) insert @TableA select 1,'Oranges' union all select 2,'Mangoes' union all select 3,'Apricots'
ID Table A 1 Apples 2 Oranges 3 Grapes 4 Apricots
declare @TableB table ( seed numeric , ) insert @TableB select 080513000448 union all select 080513000449 union all select 080513000450
Table B seed 080513000448 080513000449 080513000450
I wrote the following query but i need generate a leading zero not sure which function can help maybe the right function but i am not sure how to use it in this case
SELECTconvert(varchar(10), getdate(), 12) + (SELECT CASE WHEN SUBSTRING(ISNULL(max(seed),'00000'),1,6) = convert(varchar(10), getdate(), 12) THEN SUBSTRING(ISNULL(max(seed),'00000'),7,12) ELSE '000000' END AS SEED FROM B) + (row_number() over (order by Id)) as SEED FROM A
A simple question! I would like to create a database that creates say serial numbers and saves them to a table. If poss I would like to create them on demend and not duplicate.....
Can anyone suggest a case-study/reference links/video demos for creating a cube using Analysis Services and generation of reports using Reporting Services.
Help again please,I need to insert rows into a table from another table. The tables areidentical column wise except the table im inserting from does not havea primary key value. On insert I need to generate a primary key thatis consecutive based on the table im inserting into. Also the table iminserting into does not have a identity column. Much appreciated.
we would like to generate SSIS packages(connections, data flow tasks, etc..) programatically using C#. Is it possible to do so?
At present we are creating packages by dragging and dropping required componets from toolbox and configuring them manually. We have a requirement of creating around 300 packages every week. Manual creation of packages is really a nightmare.
I heard from one of friends that using c# we can create packages. is it true? if so, can we view/edit the packages generated using c# using VS 2005 IDE(if required) ?
SRS 2005 provides functionality for loading and rendering reports on fly using LoadReportDefinition and Render methods defined in ReportExecutionService webservice.
I was wondering if the same/similar behaviour can be accomplished in Reporting Services 2000.
I need to convert this list into sql server logins. Can this be done via a tsql statement? if so how, and if it cant be done via a statement then what other way can it be done.
I'm having problems generating the primary key for a sql server table. I use a slowly changing dimension to discriminate modified and new records. The primary key in the SQL Server table is a combo number/letter incremental (ex. 0000A, 0001A...9999A, 0000B...). I tried creating Instead of insert and For insert trigger for a table but this doesn't seem to do the work.
What are my other options? How can I generate a primary key for every new row?
