Hi, I Also Have Similar Problem When Trying Launch Report Manager By Typing Http://localhost/reports
Apr 25, 2007
Hi,
I am new at using Report Service and after successful install the SQL SERVER EXPRESS ADVANCE SP2 and configured the ReportIing Services Configuration. I try to launch the report manager by typing http://localhost/Reports I get the following error:
The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.
I've read many forums but I couldn't resolve my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I am running IIS 7 on Window Vista Business Ed. & SQL Server Express Ed. I am not sure if this make any differences.
I got through the installation hoops for SQLEXPRESS Reporting Services in Vista and set up the default configurations in Report Services Configuration. I can explore the default directory for "Reports" in IIS7, but I can't browse in IE. I get the "The report server is not responding. verify that the report server..." message in the browser. This is after I migrated the app per the initial http 500 error using the preferred method - %systemroot%system32inetservAPPCMD.exe migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports".
I'm running Vista Ultimate, VS2005, SQLEXPRESS SP2. I've tried running IE as admin and also I've disabled UAC from gpedit.msc - ...Windows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PolicySecurity Options and unchecking UAC.
Hi I have problems when I try to see http://localhost/Reports/ send the follow message:

when i try to browse to http://localhost/Reports or ReportServer, a login is prompted. I don't know what to fill in there. Should it be configured somewhere?
Or should I configure the Reports and ReportServer in IIS to allow anonymous logins? - if i do this, I can see the homepage of reports, but noting is listed - if i browse to reportServer, i get the error "he permissions granted to user 'EVO610IUSR_EVO610' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)"
Can someone please urgently help me? I don't know where and to configure this login prompt.
Hi, It has been one week I am researching this issue on internet and trying everything I find. But no luck. What I am trying to do is to install SRS on SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition. The reporting services configuration tool has "All Green" check marks. When I browse either of http://localhost/Reports and http://localhost/ReportServer it prompts for password. I am logged on to domain administrator account, I have tried all users' passwords it gives 401.1 error.
I have tried accessing it from another machine or by using loopback ip or machine name; it doesnt work.
After deploying my report on the report Server, I try to access it on the browser which gives me the following error.
The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Please take me out from this hell. I created report using VS2005 Business Intelligence Project. It builds fine. I can also see data in the design time. But when I am trying to deploy it gives me this error.

I have setup SSRS 2000 and gotten it to work but I am having trouble with SSRS 2005. I can't access to reportserver anywhere on the network. The only way to get to reportserver is termserv into the server and hit it with http://localhost/reportserver The server is Windows 2003 server Standard Ed. running SQL 2005 SP2 and Sharepoint Portal Server 2007. Can somebody please help? Thank you.
Hi, I have setup reportserver with default settings (non https) and afterwards in IIS added a certificate and https support. Know I am able to work really well and secure over the internet, but some links in report manager pointing to http://server.domain.com/reports instead of https: For example if i call a report and then in the top there are (view, properties,...) - View is HTTPS - Properties is HTTPS - History is HTTP - Subscription is HTTP
I have read some articles - mentions I should configure https, but - in Report Configuration you could not setup HTTPS - in rsreportserver.config i have entered the https link version but did not change anything - in RSWebApplication.config the Reportserverurltag is blank - so i did not change anything
When I go into Report Manager, http://localhost/reports, and try running a report it is giving me this error message:
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied
But if I go directly to the Report Server, http://localhost/reportserver, and try running a report there then everything is fine.
Does anyone know why it is doing this all of a sudden? I did change the Reports app in ISS to allow anonymous access but have since changed it back, and it still gives this error.
I looked online and couldn't find anything to help me make this change. I want to change the default URL for reporting services to another url. Is this possible? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. Does anybody know why I'm getting the following error when I go to http://localhost/reportserver in a browser? is there a problem with how to setup permission or Windows Vista?

http://localhost/reportserver allows me to get to the reports, but there used to be another way I did it. I thought it was http://localhost/reports, which gave me a nicer looking page and put icons that says "new" on the new reports.
Hello i created a report and i deployed it using BIDS. i can access the report from iis . but when i try to open http://localhost/reportserver, it's asking me for a username and a password that i've never specified. i tried my windows account but it doesn't work. When i try to export the report to pdf using IIS (Control Panel- Administration tools - IIS - browsing virtual directory) it asks me for authentification also. does anyone know how to fix this ? PS: I'm running Windows XP PRO with iis 5.1 thanks a lot

This is on a brandnew Win2003 server install with SQL Server 2005, RS 2005 and VS.NET 2005. I'm not able to log to the reportserver site to configure/publish reports. I'm logged in the system as administrator.
From IE6 I enter http://localhost/reportserver or http://localhost/reports and all I get is: Server Error in '/ReportServer' Application.

I've checked all permissions every where, I even allowed everyone full control to the entire C: drive, I uninstalled and reinstalled IIS6 (aspnet_regiis.exe) and nothing worked.
When runing a report in Report Manager I can click on an item and SQL Server provides the logic to drill down into the underlying tables. I can find no button to go back. The only way I've found to go back is to click a different tab at the top of the screen (History or something) then click View again and you get the original report. In designer there's a back button. Is there not such a button when running a saved report????
When we move reports from one folder to another in Report Manager we have to delete the report in the destination folder first before moving it over if a version is already there. If not we get the error that an item with that name already exists. Is there a way around this? Is there a setting which will allow over-write of a report?
I have deployed reports on to the report server. When I try to open the reports from report server, I get the error," Value does not fall within the expected range." This error message appears as soon as I click on any report on the report manager.
Hello all, When I print the reports ( or export to PDF) in Report Manager, my every alternate page is blank? If the report is just one page report, I get second page as blank when I print or export. The report prints in Landscape format( which should be fine given 8.5 inch height and 11 inch width). I have played with the interactive Height and other height parameters but with no luck. My current settings in the rdl file is: <BottomMargin>0.5in</BottomMargin> <RightMargin>0.5in</RightMargin> <PageWidth>11in</PageWidth> ... <Width>11in</Width> <InteractiveHeight>1.5in</InteractiveHeight> <Language>en-US</Language> <TopMargin>0.5in</TopMargin> <PageHeight>8.5in</PageHeight>
I would highly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Phewa Taal
Hello, I need to be able to view and save reports using Report Manager. However, I do not want some users the ability to upload files (need to prevent virus or bad files). It appears I need to select manage reports from the role definition in order for a user to save reports. but then i get the upload file link as well. Is there a way to manage reports but prevent upload file link?
