How Can I Hide A Table Column Based On A Group ?
Jul 12, 2007I am using Reporting Services 2000. If you find out that Reporting Services 2005 would resolve this issue, please lemme know also. But I want to mention that I would prefer a way to fix this without changing Reporting Services versions.
I have a table that has a group on ProductTypes. This group is set to PageBreak at end.
What I need to do is to conditionally hide an entire column based on the current group's ProductType.
Examples
Page 1 = Product 1 = Column 1 is visible
Page 1 = Product 1 = Column 2 is visible
Page 2 = Product 2 = Column 1 is hidden
Page 2 = Product 2 = Column 1 is visible
Can you help me figure this one out ? I've tried everything I found on the net, especially everything on this page : http://blogs.msdn.com/chrishays/rss.xml

Jul 29, 2015I've look at several different methods for removing leading zero's from a column but I need to remove trailing data from a VARCHAR column. For some reason, the old database saved the time along side the date in my client's app.
For example:
The old database format "2015-07-28 00:00:00"
I need the data in this column in the new database to only be the date "2015-07-28", there are alot of rows with this issue.
Is there a query I can run to remove the 00-00-00 from all of the rows? Some of the fields actually have a time in there like this: 2015-07-28 12:15:35, with this one, I don't think it's going to be easy but if I could at least remove the 00-00-00 from all the rows that have it, that would be a good start.

So now I have duplicates values in id column so now I need to take only one value of each and delete the remaining. I need to take first id value 10,15,20 so only 3 rows should be there in my table.

I looked at the explicit permissions for username for the particular table, but I don't understand some of the terms listed.

Want To Hide The Time From The Date Field In GridView In ASP.Net With SQL
Mar 30, 2007I m using ASP.NET 2005 with VB,C#.
I m using GridView to display the data.
My problem is with the database field date.
I want to use only the date and the fields are manufacturing date and expiry date of some items.
But,in the gridview it displays the time which is by default same for all the entries which 12:00A.M.
I have used date picker for designing.
What should be the validation for showing only the date and not the time ??
How to hide the time from the gridview.
I m using SQL Server 2005 to store database where i have selected the datatype as date/time.

May 8, 2015I am creating a report with a Matrix and this report contain a collapse Matrix which it toggle from a certain field.
Now I am having two issue:First issue is that when I set visibility to hide and that the matrix can be toggle by a field is leaving a very unaesthetic space between rows.
The second problem is that when I toggle the field I would like another part of the report to hide.
Does it exists anything that would allow me to define an expression I can use in the visibility that I Can use to make disappear this part of the report when the + has been toggle and make it appear back when the - has been toggle?

I have some sensitive and non-sensitive info/fields in one of my reports. Is there a way to hide/show the info based on the logged in user? or do I have to create separte reports for each type of info like one for sensitive and another one for non-sensitive info.

Below is a snippet of MS SQL inside some VB that retieves
Commodity info such as product names and related information and returns the results in an ASP Page. My problem is that with certain searches, elements returned in the synonym field repeat. For instance, on a correct search I get green, red, blue, and yellow which is correct. On another similar search with different commodity say for material, I get Plastic, Glass,Sand - Plastic, Glass,Sand - Plastic, Glass, Sand. I want to remove the repeating elements returned in this field. IOW, I just need one set of Plastic, Glass and Sand. I hope this makes sense.
Below is the SQL and the results from the returned page.
PS I tried to use distinct but with no luck I want just one of each in the example below.

It Is Possible To Store A Table As A Column Field?

In my application, I have a master table that stores information about some other user tables. These other tables are all of different types, that is, the number and type of columns need not match across the user tables.
From the application perspective, logically each of these user tables is nothing but a column field within the master table.
I have seen references about "table" data type in SQL Server. It is possible to create a table that actually has a table data type as its field?

- A Table called: Table_1
- A Field called: MyField
- MyField contains the value: Hello I am on the msdn forums
Is it possible to perform an UPDATE Query which deletes part of that sentence? If this was hard coded it would be rather simple but if the phrase was changing which would lead to the sentence also changing is it possible to do this?
Lets say I wanted to remove the part which said msdn forums. Then UPDATE the field again which should leave out the bit msdn forums.

If the Shift column is hidden, i want to move the equipment columns over so there is no gap in the columns.I know you can do this in a table by hidding the whole column, but how do you do this in a matrix? when i try to hide the column the visibility option is not there, and when i hide the field, it leaves a gap in the report.Thanks for your help.

Is there a way to hide a column if there is no data for that column? Suppose that I have a SP (lets call it wrapper) which will call multiple SP's. But for any one run, there'll be only one SP which is called. But the columns returned by these SP's is obviously different. So, in order to accomodate the output, can I create a table, add all the possible columns to it, and set the properties of the individual columns such that they will be hidden if there is no data in them? Example, SP 1 returns - ServerName, Location, OS ; SP 2 returns ServerName and location only. Now if the wrapper SP calls only the second SP (SP 2) can I configure in such a way that the third column (OS) is not displayed at all? (In normal cases, it would appear but without any data in it)...

I have a parameter in my report, and if it is set to Null or Zero, I want to hide a column. How would I do this? I have already tried using
Code Snippet=IIF(Parameters!Rate.Value >= 0, false, true)
in the Visibility property for the relevant column, but it doesn't make any difference. The column still shows up even if the Rate parameter is set to Null or zero. I only want the column to show if the user enters a value in the Rate parameter which is greater than zero.

Can I use parameters to hide one column from one person? If its possible, can you explain how to do that please. If its not possible, what are the other option excet creating two different reports.
Also If I use parameters , can reports be executed automatically?

I have a report in with a parameter to let the user choose between the data to show. However the customer doesn't like it that he has to rerun the report. Any help would be appreciated!
