Hiding Select All For Multivalued Parameters - SSRS 2005

Is there any way to disable the "Select All" option which comes by default for Multivalued parameters in the Report Manager?

SSRS 2005 V SSAS 2000 Mutli-Select Parameters
Nov 2, 2007Has anyone managed to crack getting multi-select parameters to work from an SSRS 2005 report which is querying an SSAS 2000 cube.
SSRS 2005 does support Multiselect, however SSRS 2000 did not. Given that i am querying an SSAS 2000 cube, i get the impression that i am also limited to SSRS 2000 functionality regarding to multi-select parameters.
Is there anyone out there that ever managed to get a wor around, say by using filters on a table or anything really that coud simulate the same behaviour....

Hello All,
Initially in my report, I was not having any MultiValued Parameters. So when I was displaying the reports to the end user, I was displaying the parameter selected by the user in the textbox.
But 2 parameters are now MultiValued. Shall I display to the user the parameters he selects.
If the user selects 30 parameters, then the major part of the report page is occupied by the parameter list that is selected.
I havent worked much on SSRS. So I am not aware of the best practices for SSRS.
I just want a suggesstion from you people. Shall I display the parameters list to the end user ? If yes then how, so that I can reduce the space occupied by the parameter list. Eg.using sub-reports, list, etc.
If no, then why ? because Initially I was having a requirement to display the parameter list because there were no multivalued parameters. But now 2 of them are multivalued parameters.

Below $75,000 , $75,000 - $120,000, $120,000 - $220000 .....,Above 220000.
Now the user can select multiple range values.. Eg( Below $75,000 , $85,000 - $95,000 , Above $100,000 )
We have to filter the cube with this user selected multiple range values.
Please tell me how to do this in MDX..

Cascading Multivalued Parameters

Hi,
I have the folowing problem with RS2005.
I have 2 parameters in my report. Firs one is a list of projects which is a single select. The second one allows to select multiple employees.
When I select a project from the first parameter, the list in second parameter gets narrowed to list of employees that are assigned to this project.
The unexpected behaviour:
1. I select "Proj1" from first parameter
2. The second parameter gets narrowed. I select "Select All" employees
3. I generate my report. OK
4. I change the selection in first param to "Proj2"
5. The second parameter gets narrowed, but employees that are common for "Proj1" and "Proj2" are still selected, which is unwanted. ERR
The users of this report gets confused as they generate the report just after point 4. and they think all employees are still selected.
What I want to do is uncheck all employees from second parameter every time the first one is changed. That would cause the user to get a prompt for selecting second parameter.
Is there a way I can do this? Any clue would be nice.

Dynamic Selection Of Multivalued Parameters

I Hope someone can help me out with this problem.. its pretty NB.
I have a pair of multivalued parameters. So, parent and child... the child needs to get its selection based on the selection made by the user on the parent parameter ( the child parameter is hidden).
Fictional values:
Parent Parameter: SelectAll, ALL , 1 , 2
Child Parameter: Home, Work, Play
If user selects "ALL" from the parent parameter I need Home and Play selected.
My idea was this:
=iif(Parameters!Parent.Value(1) = "All","Home,Play") <-- in Available values.
However, the dataset that reads this value does not like the coma delimited string.
This dataset is a cube created dataset, reading the child parameter.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

SSRS Parameters : Select All
Mar 12, 2007In multivalue parameters by default an option "All" was appearing. You can select both "All" and any of the individual parameters. However the latest report I created suddenly appeared with "(Select All)" as well as "All". (Select All) actually selects (or deselects) all items.
Does anyone know where (Select All) came from, is this a new thing in SP2? How do you control it.
Also, is there a functionality where you can select "All", but if you then select another paramater it automatically deselects "All"?

Hiding Parameters

Hi There,
I am fairly new at RS, and have a question about showing/hiding parameters :
What i would like to do is have one report, with the parameters :
Report By : (Date/Week)
Buisiness Stream : (Spares/OEM)
Start Date : (Date)
End Date : (Date)
Start Week : (Start Week Num)
End Week : (End Week Num)
What I would like to do is show the 'Start Date' and 'End Date' when the Report By value = Date
OR
Show the 'Start Week' and 'End Week' parameter when Report By value = Week.
Can someone help me with this?

Hiding A Subreport SSRS

i have a subreport and it needs to be displayed only based on some selection criteria, in all other case it needs to be hidden.i made the visibility to hidden, but when i run the report,it gives me a blank page where it usually gets me the subreport.How can i remove this blank page from getting displayed ?
PS: this is the expression i have added :
=IIF(Parameters!strChoice.Value="Single",True,False)

Question About Parameters In SSRS 2005
Dec 1, 2007In a report with four cascade parameters, the first three of it are single selected and the fourth and last parameter is multi-select parameter. I want to set up the parameters in a way if the user selected "All" in the first parameter, the following two cascade parameters, second and third parameters will be set to select "All" and hidden. The same theory if the user selected "All" in the second cascade parameter, the third parameter is set to select "All" and hidden. User is required to select a value(s) from the fourth and last parameter. Thanks.

Apr 23, 2008I would like to allow the users to clear the paramaters in a report and start a new query. I tried creating an image and setting the navigation to jump to the same report. This clears the parameters because of the postback but the parameter area collapses. Is there another way to do this or force the parameter area to stay expanded?

From a aspx page I was able to Pass values (valid values) for the parameters to SSRS report 2005 which uses OLAP cube as datasource and got back the expectd result. but when I pass value other than a valid value i am getting ERROR message. do we always have to pass valid values only? any help is greatly appreciated.

SSRS 2005 SP1 Report Parameters Not Refreshing
Aug 24, 2007I am having issues getting my report parameters to refresh when changing their values. I am running SP1 and am trying to mimic the functionality of the Select All for the multi-valued drop-down list. I have a boolean field that I pass to the query that populates the multi-valued list and set a field value to either what is displayed in the list or a -1 (a non-valid option). I then set the default value of the multi-valued list to the value of the new field I created in the query based on if they want to select all values or not.
This works great on the first choice, if I select no, nothing is checked in the list and if I select yes then everything is selected. However, if I select Yes and select No, everything remains checked. It acts like it does a refresh, but does not.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?

select COL1, min(COL2) from TABLE group by COL1
the table has many duplicate entries, where COL2 is the primary key and unique, but its the duplicate COL1 entries that have to be removed.
I was hoping a simple
"delete from table where COL1 not in (select COL1, min(COL2) from TABLE group by COL1)"
would do the trick, but obviously in returning two columns from the subselect this won't work. Can I hide the COL2 output from the query that will be put in the subselect?
this is a one-off thing, so i'm not overly concerned about overhead or elegance. just need to make it so.

Passing Report Parameters To An SSRS 2005 Report Hosted In Sharepoint 2007
Nov 18, 2007Here is a situation in my company:
We have an Office SharePoint 2007 site, we developed a couple of web parts and added them to our site. We used SQL Server Reporting services 2005 as our reporting solution. The reports are hosted on the report center and when we need a report, we open it by sending a URL requesting the report, passing the report parameters in the URL query string. So the report is filtered based on the parameters passed from the web parts.
But since best practices say that you should host reports directly under SharePoint, by configuring the reporting services to run in the SharePoint integrated mode. We followed the steps and installed SharePointRS and we finally succeeded to publish the reports to a SharePoint folder, but we had a limitation: we are unable to pass the report parameters internally to the report hosted in SharePoint. If we passed them in the query string as the report center case, SharePoint neglects them totally.
So the question is: how can I pass parameters internally between a SharePoint web part and a SQL server 2005 reporting services report hosted in SharePoint?
SSRS 2005 - Email Report On Execution To Dynamic List With Dynamic Parameters = No Schedule

I have a need to display on screen AND email a pdf report to email addresses specified at run time, executing the report with a parameter specified by the user. I have looked into data driven subscriptions, but it seems this is based on scheduling. Unfortunately for the majority of the project I will only have access to SQL 2005 Standard Edition (Production system is Enterprise), so I cannot investigate thoroughly.
So, is this possible using data driven subscriptions? Scenario is:
1. User enters parameter used for query, as well as email addresses.
2. Report is generated and displayed on screen.
3. Report is emailed to addresses specified by user.
Any tips on how to get this working?

I have two mult-value parameters in my report. Both of them working with selecting one or more values. But, when I test using "(Select All)" values for both parameters , only one parameter works. The "available values" for these two parameters are both from the data set.

I have created some parameters in SSRS designner and viewing the reports its coming fine. but if i delete one paramter and viewing the preview it is giving an error that to add the paramater.
I have removed the parameter in the Report menu --> Report Parameters. whether i have to remove anywhere else or any other way to solve this problem

One of the parameter is a multi-select enabled parameter and I suppressed the value "All" showing as one of the item in the drop down list, simply by filter out the [bha].[bha].CURRENTMEMBER.LEVEL.ORDINAL to 1, as "(Select All)" is pre-assigned to the drop list when multi-select is enabled and it is confusing to show "(Select All)" and "All" in the drop list. However I have another report which is linked to this report and the value which is required to pass to this report for this parameter is "All". Can I pass the "Select All" as a parameter from the other report? If so, how? Thanks.

The original article uses the code statements in pink for the Console Applcation of VB.NET. I do not know how to print out the output of ("Book Titles for this Author:"), ("{0}", myReader.GetString(2)), ("Return Value: " & (RetValue.Value)) and ("Number of Records: " & (NumTitles.Value)) in the Windows Application Form1 of my VB 2005 Express. I have kept two Report Parameters "StartDate" and "EndDate" and i have selected From Query and viewed the preview. I got the reults but when i am selecting the two dates it is not validating the condition.
I need the results between StartDate and EndDate. For this i have to set any where in the parameters or is there any other way

I have created two parameters as StartDateTime and EndtDateTime and i am displaying in the Page Header section in the Report as
"Report Duration from " & Parameters!DimActivityStartDatetime.Value & " to " & Parameters!DimActivityEndDatetime.Value"
It is displaying at the runtime in the report like
Report Duration from [DimAct].[StartDateTime].&[2007-03-10TO7:30:00] to [DimAct].[EndDateTime].&[2007-03-10TO7:30:00].
But i need to display only the dates. is is displaying with the dimension name also.
Is there any solution to solve this, can anybody help me on this

Hide And Show Parameters In SSRS
Apr 15, 2008I am doing report development against OLAP. I have Parameter1 and then my second parameter is a boolean (True/False). I want to show Parameter 3/Paramater 4 based on selection of Param2 (So, if true, show Param3, if false, show Param 4) and please remember we are doing this in a sequence.
Is this even possible in SSRS 2005? If yes, how the hell do I achieve it.
PS: Sorry for cursing, but I am about to lose my mind. Any help is much much appreciated.

How To Pass Multiple Parameters In SSRS

Hi,
I am working on SSRS. I need to open a new report from one report when user clicks on some particular summerized count link.
Its a sort of drilled down report. I am not getting how to pass the respected Ids (more than one) to the next report when user clicks on the link in the 1st report. These ids I want to use as a parameter (multiple) in the 2nd report to dump the rows from the database.
Please help.

I have a project where I need to automatically pass 2 sets of parameters to a SSRS report and generate PDF files. I have set the defaults for the parameters based on one set of parameters and created a subscription to automatically generate PDF copy. However, I am not sure how to generate the report automatically using the other set of parameters. Also, I don't want to create two report files to accomplish this.
Can you please help?
