How To Access Sqlserver Reporting Two Different Server
Sep 19, 2007
Hi Friends ,
I have a problem to access the sqlserver Reporting on different server. Actually I created Sql Server Reporting in one server with in that server i able to access the report. but out of that server that means another server webapplication i unable to access it. how can i rectify this problem.
I started my Reporting Server and if I use the Internet Explorer as a Administrator everything works fine. But if I don't open it as an admin it calls "rsAccess Denied The user [...] does not have the permission...".Problem is that I want to run it in an SAP Program with an HTML Viewer. how I can get those Permissions ?By the way somehow I'm not able to create or change roles in the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
I have deployed some reports on the reporting server, i have noticed that every one in the domain in which the reports are published can access the reports, except one user. when he tries to access the report he got the following error message or the blank report.
"An error occured during report processing"
"can no read the next data row for the data set dataset1".
Although this user has all the roles on the reporiting server kike browser, content manager etc.
I am receiving the following error when attempting to access reporting services... to sum things up real nice and tidy-
I get three login prompts - then the access denied response. It is almost as if it is unable to authenticate the user... anyway... here's the actual error response, I'd really appreciate any input/insight/resolution.
Server Error in '/Reports' Application.
Access to the path 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2Reporting ServicesReportManagerin' is denied.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2Reporting ServicesReportManagerin' is denied.
ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.
To grant ASP.NET access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.

If I log on to the SQL server and using IE go to http://sql1/reportServer I see the reportServer webpage just fine. However if I go to another server in the same domain and do exactly the same thing (same user account, same URL) I get a windows box asking for username and password. It doesn't matter what username I use I still get prompted for username and password.
I've looked in the sys.dm_exec_connection and it says NTLM so I am guessing that SPN are not the cause.
We have another SQL instance on the same SQL server and you can reach the reporting webpage just fine no matter where you are.
The only thing I have noticed different is the working instance has login for DPM$ (being a DPM instance) but the default instance does not have a SQL1$ entry. Don't know if that is important.
i am new to sql server reporting 2005. i can able to create reports and i can able to access in web pages. But my problem is, my reports and database are in one server, and my web server is differnet. we cant view the reports from internet. How can we slove this. any one can help?
what is MS's strategy for having two off the shelf ways of getting at reports? In a typical company, is the average non administrator type user getting at his reports via one, the other, both?
SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 (SSRS) is installed on Vista Ultimate. I cannot access to the http://localhost/ReportServer page. IE posts an internal error HTTP 500.0 (after IE required a Windows account). All the configurations of Reporting Services are OK. In the Log file, there is nothing: the Web Services does not seem to be launched.
By continuing the investigations in IIS 7 (activation of the €śRules of follow-up of the requests having failed€?, I found the error following:
Translation of the french sentence: ErrorCode="Incorrect syntax of the file name, the directory or the volume."
I made a full research on Internet and in the documentation at my disposal and I did not find anything which can advance me towards a beginning of solution€¦
Thank you with all for the assistance which you will be able to bring to me.
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
with this message Cannot open database "hayat" requested by the login. The login failed.Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYIUSR'. but i have 'NT AUTHORITYIUSR' user n my sql srver and my db how can i mak th permission right and i don't to us user and passwordx
I have to transfer an Access Database to SQLserver. There're hundred of tables in the original DB which use True, False value. Those will be translated to -1, 0 in SQLserver. I need them to be 0 , 1 instead (-1=>1).
Is there a way to tell SQLServer to process this modification during the transfer or is there a store procedure which can go through all tables and modify those values ?
Is there any way to get more information for when IAuthorizationExtension::CheckAccess fails to grant access to a report item for the current user? Specifically, it would be useful to know:
1. URL of attempted report 2. IP address of user agent 3. Identity of current user 4. Date/Time of the failed attempt
I'm having an issue to restoring database from prod to report server. I'm getting following error.
When I did Manually I got first error as below.
Msg 233, Level 20, State 0, Line 0 A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)
This is the second error
Msg 3044, Level 16, State 1, Line 37 Invalid zero-length device name. Reissue thestatement with a valid device name. Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 37 RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. Msg 5011, Level 14, State 5, Line 45 User does not have permission to alter database 'XeP', the database does not exist, or the database is not in a state that allows access checks. I am having Access database in my local system . Values in the access database will be updated for every 5 min . I am also having Sqlserver database online with the same structure database of Access in my local system . What i want is my Access database values must be updated in my online sqlserver at every 5 min automatically .How to do that ?
We are using MS Access as a front end to a SQL Server 6.5 Database using ODBC & linking tables in Access.
We are unable to edit certain records using access. We get the following error message:
"This record has been changed by another user since you started editing it. If you save the record, you will overwrite the changes the other user made.
Copying the changes to the clipboard will let you look at the values the other user entered, and then paste your changes back in if you decide to make changes."
What the message says is untrue in our case. Worse, there is no way to recover and have the desired change posted. This error occurs only with certain records. This error occurs when there are no locks active (and only 1 client logged in).
I am inclined to think that this error may be the fault of ODBC.
Updating the same change directly into ISQL works fine. SQL Server Permissions have beeen checked & double checked.
If you have suggestions as to how this error can be rectified, please contact me: Mark Blackburn mark@mbari.org http://www.mbari.org/~mark

I use Access 2007 SQLserver Upsize but get errors saying SQL Server not found. Is there another way of copying tables from Access to SQL Server 2005 Express. I am not very familiar with SQL Server Express but did a course in SQL Server programming.
When I try to connect to the server using VS2005 (VB) using the code:
Dim instance As System.Data.Sql.SqlDataSourceEnumerator = System.Data.Sql.SqlDataSourceEnumerator.Instance Dim table As System.Data.DataTable = instance.GetDataSources()
For Each DRrow As DataRow In table.Rows 'DRrows C1List1.AddItem(DRrow(0).ToString & ";" & DRrow(1).ToString & ";" & DRrow(3).ToString) Next
I can see the Server Name, but not the Instance Name.
I've already checked the SQL Configurantion Manager, and I've allowed this instance to accept remote connections (created by the cmd install command).
NOTE: I'm testing the connection on a Domain, but only using the SA account (SQLmode).
Can somebody help me? Thanks.
PS: I also created an Firewall exception in Windows on the port 1433.
Iam using sqlserver reporting services 2005 and in one case I need to find out the difference between two datetime parameters. I need the difference with the time. Can you please help me in this....
I am in the process of planning a server upgrade to sql2005 x64.
I created 2 linked servers: one to a SQL2000 sp4 server and one to a SQL7.0 SP3.
I have the following error when I query the linked servers. OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K" returned message "Unspecified error". OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K" returned message "The stored procedure required to complete this operation could not be found on the server. Please contact your system administrator.". Msg 7311, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Cannot obtain the schema rowset "DBSCHEMA_TABLES_INFO" for OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K". The provider supports the interface, but returns a failure code when it is used.
I am aware of KB 906954. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;906954
I applied the instcat.sql on the SQL2000SP4 server and my linked server issues for that one are gone.
However, I ran the instcat.sql script on the SQL7.0 sp3 server and the linked server is still giving me an issue.
I need to access a MS-SQLSERVER with a Linux (SuSE 9.0) based computer.I need to do some selects. What do I have to do what kind of client Software and how do I have toinstall on the linux Maschine to comunicate with this Server?Probably some kind of odbc?thanx for any hints.Maximilian Gablinger
Having an extremely frustrating issue trying to connect to SQL once I've done the NET START MSSQL$SQL_DEV /c /m /T3608. Briefly: SQL 2K and 2K5 named instances running on same DEV box. Can't open admin:<serverinstance> in SSMS, I get the following error:
"Login failed for user 'sa'. Reason: Server is in single user mode. Only one administrator can connect at this time. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18461)
This happens regardless of credentials supplied (my AD acct (local admin on box), AD acct running SQL services or sa). Object Explorer is closed, remote connections disabled in SS Surface Area Config. I open SSMS and make no attempt to connect to server. Choose File >New > Query with Current Connection. In dialogue box, I attemp to utilize DAC and get the above error. In DOS prompt where I issued the single user mode startup cmd, try to use sqlcmd to grab DAC session and receive the following error:
SQL Network Interfaces: An error occurred while obtaining the dedicated administrator connection (DAC) port. Make sure that SQL Browser is running, or check the error log for the port number [xFFFFFFFF]. Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections..
So, no matter what method I use, I've managed to disable ALL access to the instance, despite the tips I've seen here and on Google. I need to move the system databases to new disk volume, but cannot do so until I can open a connection to the instance once I've put it in single user mode. Looking in the SQL Srvr log following startup in single user mode I see the following:
Message Server is listening on [ 'any' <ipv4> 3560]. Message Dedicated admin connection support was established for listening remotely on port 3560.
Do I need to call the port# specifically when using SSMS or sqlcmd? I can include screenshots of the failures and mssgs if necessary.
More disturbing is in a DR situation, I CAN'T OPEN A SESSION TO THE INSTANCE, which would be a very bad thing...
So far I've been unable to connect to a test SQLServer Everywhere/Compact database with MS Access. I installed the new SQLServer 2005 Native Client to no avail. Has anyone done this?
