How Can I Get The Keyword List Indexed By SQL Server 2005

Sep 11, 2007

Full Text search must keep a list of key words or items somewhere.
How can I get access to this list to present to a user.
For example: show me all indexed words starting with letter a* and then ac*.
I'm trying to find this information without success.

TOP Keyword SQL Server 2005

Apr 2, 2007

I am using the top keyword as follows in the same SP. The select and the update statements are one below the other:
Select TOP(1) col1,col2 from table1 where col3='val1'
Update TOP(1) table1 set col2= 'val2' where col3='val3'
There is a primary key on the column which is not included in either the select or the update statement.
Can anyone confirm that the both the statments will return the same row?

Transact SQL :: Returning Non Indexed Records From Sorted Table - Speed Same As Indexed?

Dec 1, 2015

I have created a table from another table where I specified that one of the fields, an number field, is sorted in ascending order and have NOT specified that it is to be an indexed field and there are 10 million records, from 1 to 10,000,000 exactly.

Now, if I query that table, asking to return records 1-1,000 from that non indexed number field that I sorted in ascending order (where number field <= 1,000) , will it run as fast as if it were indexed?

In other words, does SQL know somehow that these records are sorted in ascending order and so will not do a full table scan, stopping at 1,000 to return my data set?

Or is there no way for SQL to know this and only specifying an indexed field allows SQL to know that its in some order and so it doesn't have to do the full scan?

Security Question - SQL Server 2005 Express - List Of Allowed IP Address's

Hi All,

I have noticed in the database logs that someone is trying to log
into our SQL Server express databases, is there a way of allowing only IP
address on a list to access the database. We really only need the local machine
and the office using SQL Express management studio to access the database.

I would appreciate any help sometimes the database runs very
slow and we do not know what is causing this.

We are running server 2003 and SQL Server express.

Thanks in advance.

Unistall Unsuccessful And Can Not See Microsoft SQL Server 2005 In Installed Programs List

Jul 7, 2006

I went through the install of the MS SQL Server 2005 Std Edt only to find that I can not open up the "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" since I was missing the exe to run it that should have been located at "C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEdevenv.exe". Due to this happening it seemed to me that some of the install failed, so I went about trying to uninstall the SQL Server setup. Within the "Add or Remove Programs" tool I selected the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" from the list and clicked on the button that said "Remove". This did not seem to do anything except for remove the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" selection from that tool selection list. It went way to quick and did not display any dialogs as it removed the engine. Also I can still opent the Management Studio and see all the normal stuff and I can query the data within the databases. The two part question is...

1) How do I get the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 program relisted in the "Add or Remove Programs" tool's selection list?

2) How do I get the "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" installed correctly?

The only warning message I received during the install was in regards to the hardware not being quite up to par with amount of RAM. I saw no errors within the install tool.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!! Please let me know if anything else is needed to answer this question.

Very Serious Bug With Materialized/Indexed Views And SQL Server

Jul 20, 2005

Do not trust values returned by materialized views under SQL Serverwithout frequently checking underlying tables!!!I already posted this message under microsoft.public.sqlserver.serverand I'm amazed nobody from Microsoft answered about this problem. Byinserting lots of data into our two main tables for about 30 minutes,we can fail our materialized view that performs a count_big on thosetwo tables.Executing (after of course having stopped inserting rows in our twotables)[color=blue]> SELECT SUM(field1+field2+field3) FROM MatView option(expand views)[/color]DOES NOT RETURN the same value than:[color=blue]> SELECT SUM(field1+field2+field3) FROM MatView with (noexpand)[/color]The second call - using the materialized view - returns a smallernumber (as if counts were lost during our bulk insert)As our data has to be accurate, we cannot use Materialized viewsanymore. This problem does not occur when the amount of data insertedis smaller. Rebuilding the clustered index on the view fixes theproblem; do we have to constantly be rebuilding the index to keep theview synchronize !?!!?!Is there a way to tell that our view is not synchronized? Justcomparing values returned by our view does not work for us as data isconstantly been inserted.System: SQL server 2000 SP3 Enterprise EditionVincent LIDOU

SQL Server Destination Adapter + Indexed Views

Apr 22, 2007

Hi,
I'm getting some unexpected behaviour from my SSIS packages when targeting tables that are being referenced by Indexed Views. There's two separate issues:

1. When writing into a pair of tables with a SuperType / SubType relationship concurrently with a pair of SS destinations I'm getting deadlocks between the two. Removing the index on the view that references both of these fixes the problem.

2. Much odder, I'm getting some extremely long waits (10 times longer than the whole package should take to run!) from an SS Destination adapter even when there's no data in the flow for it to bulk insert. Again, removing the indexed views that reference the destination table fixes the problem.

The views aren't mine, and (apparently) are required by the reporting app (BO), so removing them isn't really an option. I realise that there's quite a lot of overhead to maintaining indexed views, but unfortunately, the project is on a very tight timeline, so I can't look into it in as much detail as I'd like.
I was wondering if anyone's experienced any similar issues, or would have any ideas as to where to start investigating?

Thanks a lot

Mark

SQL 2012 :: Indexed View On Replicated Server Is Very Slow

Sep 10, 2014

So we got ServerA.dbA and ServerB.dbB and looks like nobody thought about that MVew. IT works thru linked server now, so surely enough it sucks..

Then even more: we got piece of DW on ServerRep with replcicated pieces of ServerA and ServerB, how it works I asked: "Don't worry man, we took care of everything, go directly to ServerRep for everything..."

And I see that our MView sucks even deeper, practically 0 performance, I think what going on it's still hit that linked server between ServerA.dbA and ServerB.dbB on background.I still can use it on ServerRep WITH NOEXPAND hint, which means it was properly defined...

Can we have that scenario at all? Or we can replicate all Tables on ServerRep and then define/redefine this view directly on replicated server ?

SQL Server 2008 :: Full Text Search On Indexed View

I'm creating Indexed view by JOINING multiple tables and trying to create FULL TEXT search index. Unique column is generated by concatenating to ID columns from different table. I can successfully able to create unique index however when trying to create FULLTEXT INDEX getting below error.

"A full-text search key must be a unique, non-nullable, single-column index which is not offline, is not defined on a non-deterministic or imprecise nonpersisted computed column, does not have a filter, and has maximum size of 900 bytes. Choose another index for the full-text key."

The message clearly says the column should be single-column index, non-deterministic.

Keyword Not Supported: ',server'.

Jun 27, 2006

Hello there.
I'm developing an eCommerce solutions based on the ASP.NET 2.0 Commerce Starter Kit, architechture. It uses the Provider Pattern. In my web-application, i use the CatalogProvider, to retrieve data from a SQL Server 2005 database. I call the methods through a handler class, whoch excists inside the WebApp. I also use a ShoppingCartProvider, OrdersProvider, ShippingProvider etc. in the same way.
In my Web.Config file, i have all the provers listed, and on each provider, the name of the connectionString to use are given.
My connection string looks like this:"connString" connectionString="Server=xxxx;Database=xxxx;Trusted_Connection=True;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
The problem is, that suddently, when browsing the website, that connects to the database through the providers, i get this error:
Keyword not supported: ',server'.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Keyword not supported: ',server'.Source Error:

Line 34: }
Line 35:
Source File: d:DevelopmentASPNETSeoShopApp_CodeHandlersCatalogManager.cs Line: 33 Stack Trace:
If i then go back to my web.config file, and removes the providerName section, of the connectionString, the website works again, for a short period. When the error return, i undo the deletion of the providerName, and it will work again... For a short time...
I've also tried to use another connectionsString, like this:Data Source=Aron1;Initial Catalog=pubs;Integrated Security=SSPI
But then the keyword which is not supported is: ', data source'

Does anyone know what the issue might be?
Thanks in advance...

SQL Server 2014 :: Indexed View Not Being Used For Partitioned Clustered Column-store Index?

Oct 9, 2015

I am trying to use an indexed view to allow for aggregations to be generated more quickly in my test data warehouse. The Fact Table I am creating the indexed view on is a partitioned clustered columnstore index.

I have created a view with the following code:

ALTER view dbo.FactView
with schemabinding
as
select local_date_key, meter_key, unit_key, read_type_key, sum(isnull(read_value,0)) as [s_read_value], sum(isnull(cost,0)) as [s_cost]
, sum(isnull(easy_target_value,0)) as [s_easy_target_value], sum(isnull(hard_target_value,0)) as [s_hard_target_value]
, sum(isnull(read_value,0)) as [a_read_value], sum(isnull(temperature,0)) as [a_temp], sum(isnull(co2,0)) as [s_co2]
, sum(isnull(easy_target_co2,0)) as [s_easy_target_co2]
, sum(isnull(hard_target_co2,0)) as [s_hard_target_co2], sum(isnull(temp1,0)) as [a_temp1], sum(isnull(temp2,0)) as [a_temp2]
, sum(isnull(volume,0)) as [s_volume], count_big(*) as [freq]
from dbo.FactConsumptionPart
group by local_date_key, read_type_key, meter_key, unit_key

I then created an index on the view as follows:

create unique clustered index IDX_FV on factview (local_date_key, read_type_key, meter_key, unit_key)

I then followed this up by running some large calculations that required use of the aggregation functionality on the main fact table, grouping by the clustered index columns and only returning averages and sums that are available in the view, but it still uses the underlying table to perform the aggregations, rather than the view I have created. Running an equivalent query on the view, then it takes 75% less time to query the indexed view directly, to using the fact table. I think the expected behaviour was that in SQL Server Enterprise or Developer edition (I am using developer edition), then the fact table should have used the indexed view. what I might be missing, for the query not to be using the indexed view?

Transact SQL :: Does Server Support MINUS Keyword

Mar 22, 2006

I have two tables CarType & Cars. Table CarType has a column CarTypeId which is the primary key (int, identity). Table Cars includes a column CarTypeId (int) which is a foreign key into the CarType table. Now I am trying to build a list of all those CarTypeId entries (from the CarType table) for which there are no Cars (i.e. there is no corresponding entry in the Cars table).I read that there is an SQL "MINUS" keyword that you can use like this:

SELECT CarTypeId FROM CarTypeMINUSSELECT CarTypeId FROM Cars..So if CarType contains records with the keys {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} and Cars contains records with the foreign keys {2, 4} (using set notation), your result should be the set {1, 3, 5}. (Note: I have tried alternate versions of this where I selected the DISTINCT CarTypeId entries from Cars, and where I sorted them; results same in both cases).I tried it in SQL Server 2005 Express. The result is just {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}.

Is the MINUS capability supported by SQL Server? I know that there are all sorts of different SQL dialects & implementations and that SQL has evolved & transmutated over the years; perhaps they opted to leave this out of SQL Server..

Here's a reference to the website where I initially found out about MINUS: [URL] ....
