I need to get a print out of column names, types, and properties for each of the tables. We just started using SQL Express from Access. I cannot find any reference to printing the structures in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express.

I have a SQL 7 database with about 30 tables in. For documentation purposes I need to print out the structures of each table. I have tried using the diagram tools but no joy.
I have access to Access, Crystal Reports, if these are any use?

I will soon be writting a script which will search threw all tables in my database and try to find how they may be linked to one another, and also which tables are called by which stored procedures, any suggestions or tips would be great.

We have databases with large numbers of tables. We have a separate database for each year. For various reasons, we need to export about 100 of the tables (Structure only, not their data) from last years database into this year's database. What is the best method for doing this? The import/export wizard creates the tables but does not bring in important things like keys.

The following dbo.Tables of Northwind.mdf in my .SQLEXPRESS (SQL Server Management Studio Express) are missing:
dbo.Categories
dbo.CustomerCustomerDemo
dbo.CustomerDemographics

dbo.Orders
dbo.Products

dbo.Shippers
dbo.Suppliers

But, I have these dbo.Tables in a different Database "xyzDatabase". How can I copy each of these dbo.Tables to the another blank dbo.Table of Northwind Database?
I right clicked on the dbo.Categories and I saw the following thing:

From the above observation,I think it is possible to copy the dbo.Table from the one Database to the Northwind Database that needs to be repaired. Please help and advise me how to do this task or tell me where I can find the Microsoft document that gives the details of this X-copy thing.

P. S. I am using VB 2005 Express to create a project to learn "Calling Stored Procedures with ADO.NET" (see Paul Kimmel's article in http://www.developer.com/db/article.php/3438221) that needs the dbo.Tables of Northwind Database and my Northwind Database has been screwed up for quite a while and needs a big repair.
Is there an easy way to print off a sql table ? I wanted something along the lines of an Access query that you can print. Or is it easiest to link to the SQL table and use Access to display it ?

The SQL ERRORLOG shows: Error is 3414, Severity 21, State 2 and says: "An error occurred during recovery, preventing the database 'model' (database ID 3) from restarting." Just prior to this, I get a warning: "did not see LP_CKPT_END".
Any thoughts why this might be and how I can fix this?

Have NT4.0, SQL6.5, and existing database with about 30-40 tables.
Just want to be able to print out each table structure with record info. Don`t need the actual data printed, just the table/record structure.

How can I print a table design. I know that I can display the design by right clicking on a table and selecting DESIGN. However, there are no options in this screen to print the design.
I also tried creating a diagram for a table. I can print the design from the diagram window as long as it fits in the window. However, when I have more columns than can fit on my screen, the print command will only print what is displayed.
Is there an easy way to print the design of a table in SQL 2000?

We are having problems printing Reports (when printing by clicking on the AcitiveX print control), where the font for the fields are set to "C39HrP24DhTt" (barcode).
While viewing the report it displays as Barcodes but while printing, the Barcode does not get printed, but the string gets printed.
Environment: SSRS 2005
Using the ReportViewer Control in a .Net 2.0 Web App to render the reports.
BarCodes print fine in the following situations:
1. When the Report is exported to Excel and when printed from there
2. When you click on the print button on Internet Explorer
3. When saving as html (from view source) and opening that html document and printing.
BarCodes do NOT get printed in the following situation:
1. When printing by clicking on the "Print" (Active X Control) icon. Even the "Print Preview" does not show the Barcode.

I have created an installation application which will install the application with SQL Express and .NET Framework 2.0.
If i install this application in a Fresh system(i.e which is not having SQL Express), it is installing the application with new database instance successfully.
But if i try to install the same in a system which is already having SQL Express, throwing "Object reference exception" because it is not able to create the new database instance.
Can anybody help me out .

I'm using SSRS SP2. I have a table with 1 group defined. I have a group footer that includes sub totals for each group. I have a table footer that includes my grand totals, but this footer will NOT print on a separate page even though I have 'Page Break At End' checked for the group. My groups correctly start on a new page, but when I get to my Grand Total footer line, it prints just after the last group sub-total line.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

I would like to set table header to Print titles option when export a report to excel.
I try to create text boxes in stead of table on Page header area. This way seems good, however, this way is difficult for preventing merged cell problem.

Because of numerous problems trying to get sqlexpress working, I uninstalled it with the intention of reinstalling (via Add or Remove Programs). However, now when I try to reinstall it, I get a message that the I am not making a changes so it won't let me install it.
I do have sql server 2005 developer's edition installed; is that the reason? and does that mean I cannot have both installed on the same machine?

UPDATE #2: When it said "Do you want to install Microsoft SQL Server" I said "yes" and that caused it to work. I exited and re-ran and now the print runs w/o the "install SQL Server" (If the prompt had said "Do you want to install the print dialog" we wouldn't be having this discussion...)
UPDATE: After posting this i discovered that the same thing occurs when attempting to print the report direct from IE6: First a dialog pops up "Do you want to install this software?" Name: Microsoft SQL Server. When I click "Don't Install" I get the dialog "unable to load client print control." Since this happens direct from IE6 I suspect it's browser settings. I'll resume tomorrow and post a followup.
My WinForm C# app integrates Reporting Services by calling them from WebBrowser controls. The problem is attempts to print cause a dialog: "unable to load client print control."
I've read prior posts that say "enable Active-X in your browser" - I don't know how to do that from a WebBrowser control.
Any ideas how to support Reporting Services "Print" from within a WebBrowser control?

I initially created an Access application within Access 2003 which I subsequently migrated to SQLExpress 2005 (Tables only) using Microsoft SQL Migration Assistance for Access 2003 (SSMAA) and continue to use Access 2003 as a front end, this really was easy and worked perfect. Now I added a new table to my SQLExpress DB and need to link to it from my Access application but can not find a way to do so in the same way that the SSMAA does. I need to run the Access 2003 application in share mode from multiple PC in the LAN. If I try linking to the table using an ODBC connection I can only access from the PC where the link was done! View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 2 test database identical in size and table structure, only one resides on filegroups and one resides on a single file.
From everything I have heard filegroups are suppose to improve performance. I stop and start the server before each test to clean out
cache. When I run the filegroup test initially the first run averages 20 seconds slower then the database sitting on the single file. However
on consective runs there is a significant improvement in performance with filegroups verses single files. I have
the indexes sitting on a separate filegroup and 2 additional filegroups to spread the tables across. Does any one know what would be causing
the performance to degrade on the initial run of the test. (The test by the way is a stored procedure that runs a select statement against each table).
