How Can I Use The Decimal Comma Instead Of Decimal Point For Numbers In Jet Engine?

Sep 19, 2007

I wanted to convert a dataset from vb.net (2.0) to an .XLS file, by MS Jet. My national standard is using decimal commas, not decimal points for numbers signing the beginning of decimal places.
But the MS Jet Engine uses decimal point,in default. Therefore, in the Excel file only string formatted cells can welcome this data, not number formatted.
How can I solve or get around this problem? (with jet if it possible)

Converting Decimal Point To Decimal Comma

Nov 30, 2007

Hi all,

I am designing some reports for a German branch of my company and need to replace decimal point with a comma and the thousand comma seperator with a decimal point.

e.g.
‚¬1,500,123.00 to ‚¬1.500.123,00

Is there a property that I can change in the report designer to allow this to happen or is this something I need to convert in a Stored Proc.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks!

SQL Server 2012 :: How To Trim Values If More Than 2 Numbers After Decimal Point

Jul 23, 2015

I am importing an excel spreadsheet into a MS SQL database table. When the spreadsheet is finished importing, I am noticing that some values that were brought in resemble something like this 1.41666666666667. Other values may be shorter or only have 1 digit. The problem is another web application that pulls this data for use in online forms only allows up to 2 digits. How can I round all of the numbers like the above to 2 decimals and replace the existing values?

I know there is the rounding function that could be used like so:

SELECT ROUND ([Hrs Total 2],2)
FROM AnnualClassifiedPAFs

How do I then take that rounded value and insert it back into the records?

Data Type With Decimal Point For Decimal Values But Not For Whole Integers

Dec 8, 2013

I am creating a table on SQL Server. One of the columns in this new table contains whole integer as wells as decimal values (i.e. 4500 0.9876). I currently have this column defined as Decimal(12,4). This adds 4 digits after the decimal point to the whole integers. Is there a data type that will have the decimal point only for decimal values and no decimal point for the whole integers?

Cast Or Convert Nvarchar With Comma As Decimal Separator To Decimal

Apr 29, 2008

Hello.

My database stores the decimals in Spanish format; "," (comma) as decimal separator.

I need to convert decimal nvarchar values (with comma as decimal separator) as a decimal or int.

Any Case using CAST or CONVERT, For Decimal or Int gives me the following error:

Error converting data type varchar to numeric

Any knows how to resolve.

Or any knows any parameter or similar, to indicate to the Cast or Convert, that the decimal separator is a comma instead a dot.

Decimal Point Problem

I'm not savy enought to know the SQL equivalent of the above but I'd like SQL Server to perform the above rather than my vbScript code.

heres what I have so far but I don't know the formatNumber equivalent:

Problem With Decimal Point

Nov 28, 2006

I have got txt file and I am trying to import this file into the database. For that action I use SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. I use Locale Czech and CodePage 1250. In the text file is the column in that format: 18152.65 - it is number with decimal point. When I use BCP utility for importing data, I use datatype decimal(10,2) and everything is OK. But when I try to use Import and Export Wizard, I choose for that column datatype numeric (DT_NUMERIC - precision 10, scale 2), the Import doesn't start and occurs the error:

- Executing (Error)

Change : To Decimal Point In Cast

May 20, 2008

I have the following code:

declare @number nvarchar(50)

set @number = '7:50'

select cast (@number as float)

This gives the error:

Msg 8114, Level 16, State 5, Line 8

Error converting data type nvarchar to float.

But if I change the value to '7.50'
it works ok.

Is there any way to get the cast statement to interpret the : as a decimal point?

Thanks,

SQL Server 2012 :: Positions After Decimal Point

Oct 21, 2014

Why are there more decimal positions here

PRINT cast(111 as decimal(38,35)) / 23
--> 4.82608695652173913043478260869565217

then here

DECLARE @Zähler decimal(38,35)
, @Nenner decimal(38,35)
SET @Zähler = 111.0
SET @Nenner = 23.0
PRINT cast(@Zähler as decimal(38,35)) / @Nenner
--> 4.826086

Of course, in the upper part 23 is implicitly an integer, in the lower example it is declared as decimal. But what if I need to devide by 23.5? Why is dividing by an decimal reducing the results decimal positions?

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and give me some pointers on what I can do to fix it? Your help is much appreciated.

Dividing Two Numbers Truncates After 4 Decimal Places

Dec 19, 2000

I have two fields - both defined as money.
When I divide them, SQL Server truncates the result after the 4th decimal point.
So SQL Server says: 370.45 / 3,391,517.85 = 0.0001
I want to achieve: 370.45 / 3,391,517.85 = 0.00010922837... etc.
The field the result is going into is defined as decimal(20,18)

I've tried using "cast(1stmoneyfield as decimal(20,18)) / cast(2ndmoneyfield as decimal(20,18)) as dividednumber", but SQL Server reports back errors about null values and Arithmetic overflow and terminates.

I'm at a loss as to how to solve the problem. Any suggestions please?

Reporting Services :: Can Remove Trailing 0s From Decimal Numbers?

Nov 2, 2015

I'm building an invoice report in visual studio for use with MS Dynamics CRM Online. The "quantity" field I reference from the database contains a decimal number with a precision of 2 (i.e - 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00) due to how I charge my clients as they can purchase 0.25 hours of support for example.

The problem is that I also sell other items that don't require a decimal place in the quantity field and "1 x website design" would look a lot better than "1.00 x website design".

format the quantity field on my report so that it will remove the 0's and the decimal place ONLY when all the numbers after the decimal place are 0. So, to clarify:

1.00 should become 10.25 should stay as 0.250.50 should stay as 0.50 instead of it changing to 0.5 (I can live with 0.5 if 0.50 is a deal breaker.)

Reporting Services :: Compare Numbers (like Software Versions With Different Length And More Than 1 Decimal)?

Jul 7, 2015

I'm trying to change the background color in a field based on its number value being greater than another number value in an adjacent field. The issue I am having is the format, it's like a software version string or IP address (in this case, it is A/V Signature Versions) where the length of the numbers between the decimal places can be different, and that seems to throw off the comparison.

For example (these are actual values I am comparing);

1.201.1054.0 should evaluate as greater than 1.201.2.0 but when compared, evaluates as FALSE.

Decimal Limited To 4 Digits To Right Of Decimal?

Jun 18, 2007

I need to store decimal values: decimal(20,15) in my SQL Server 2005 database.

I load data from flat file, convert it using Data Conversion Task to decimal(with scale: 15) and try to save it using OLE DB Destination.

It works fine for 4 digits after the decimal (like 1.1234), but always failes for more than 4 digits (1.12345).

Is the decimal limited to scale 4 ???

T-SQL ROUND(decimal, Int) Vs C# Round(Decimal, Int32)

Jan 30, 2006

Anybody noticed that SQL Server rounds up if the value is half waybetween two rounded values, but C#'s Decimal.Round(Decimal,Int32)rounds to nearest even number?[color=blue]>From MSDN: "When d is exactly halfway between two rounded values, the[/color]result is the rounded value that has an even digit in the far rightdecimal position. For example, when rounded to two decimals, the value2.345 becomes 2.34 and the value 2.355 becomes 2.36. This process isknown as rounding toward even, or rounding to nearest."I perform the same calculation sometimes on the web server in C# andsometimes at the database in T-SQL, but want to get the same resultfrom both calculations. Could anybody offer any strategies for dealingwith this? Thanks ~ Matt
