Hi FriendsCan anyone tell me how to store uploaded files from the user to the SQL database and later give an option of downloading the file probably in the form of a GridView control. How do we write code to allow the user to download the uploaded files. I have written code to upload and store the files into a folder, however, I'm not able to collect data from the folder later and the folder is only accessible offline using the server system which I do not want to happen. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

Importing CVS to SQLServer 2005 in a web application: I need to import CSV file to a table. This is a .Net 2.0 web application running in the WebServer which has .Net 2.0 installed. SQL Server 2005 is a database in another machine. What are my options? Would SSIS work in WebServer if no database installed in that machine. Thanks
Hello, Fairly new to asp.net developers community. Can't believe I havent took interest in this before! Please let me know what I need to learn in terms of resources for creating the mentioned functionality on my asp web page. I already have a sqldatabase and tables created with data. (This database is reading from another system every 15 mins)The problem is not the database, its working fine, I even have a MS Access frontend that I use. I want to take the query functionality on the web. ( par number look up to display description, price and unit of measure I need to have a box for the user to enter a number (1-xxx)..Populate 4 columns with xxx rows.In column one enter 'partnbr"...that looks up the "partnbr' in the "partlist_table" and send back "description" "price" "unit of measure" Once the info remains on the , I can create masterpages to resemble a quote. Thank you much for your help. Dev
I have a question about where package is stored if you select sqlserver or SSIS package store (msdb). Is both of these going to the same place sysdtspackages90. On one of my systems I was saving as sqlserver but when users created a job they where using SSIS package store msdb. This seems to be working, though I would have thought that they were to different locations. On another system when I did same thing the job failed, and looked like maybe it was running wrong version, but when I resaved project as SSIS package store(msdb) then it did work. Even though I had earlier saved that package under sql server. So on 1 system it looks like they are the same on the other system I am not sure.
So if you can clarify for me what the difference between the two areas are if any?
Is there a way to transfer data from a SqlServer db to a SqlServer Express db. I tried to use the backup file of SqlServer, but this file is not valid for SqlServer Express. Or there any alternatives?
I updated a windows application. It runs great on my development box.
We then published it to a web site. When they run the application it prompts them to update. The process begins and then they get the following message.
Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHost Version 9.0.242.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first. Please contact your system administrator.
How to Connect sqlServer 2000 in Pocket PC 2003 Application. In Packet PC 2003 Application I have to connect to sql server 2000 on my machine. The application gives error if connected using sqlConnection. Is SQL server CE necessary to connect to sql server 2000 in .Net Compact Framework?
I am using framework 1.0 to do the above tasks. Since there is no fileupload function in .net 1.0, i will be using the html control tools (file field) to do the upload option.
i have totally no idea of how to start coding it...can anyone guide me through the steps???
i have configure a SSIS package in BIDS to use an Env. Var. to store the location of the .dtsconfig file for the connection to my SSIS configuration table in SQL. I than use another Env. Var. to retrieve the source conn. str. from my SQL SSIS configuration table. Once my package loads, i select a simple sql task to execute, but it comes back and says that it cannot make the connection. How does the SQLServer connection string know what password to use? This is where i'm confused. I believe it loads the connection string for my source database but it doesn't get the password. I just started working in SSIS and i'm trying to get my head around all of the dynamic options of SSIS. I appreciate your time and help.
Problem Details: package A has 1 sql execute task Env.Var. 1 stores the location of the .dtsconfig file that stores the connection data to ssis sqlserver configuration table (used to store additional package properties in sql server) Env. Var. 2 stores the connection string of my source database. package protection level set at "EncryptSensitiveWithPassword" the sql task is assigned to the source connection string, right click and execute task.
here is the error: Failed to acquire connection "source database" Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permission on this connection.
I'm executing this from within BIDS just to check that my setup is going to work.
Here are some items i've tried or troubleshoot:
1. If I roll back the 2 package Configs or disable using package configs and replace my original source connection manager and create a new connection manager than i can get the sql task to successfully execute again. It won't usually work by just disable the package configs. i had to delete the existing source connection manager.
2. create a new package trying the same steps as above.
3. change the package protection level to "encryptSensitiveWithPassword" expecting this to retain the source connection password. I tried a variety of package protection levels.
I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times before, so I'm after a link to a good answer.
I have tens of thousands of milk crates, holding dozens of different types of milk in hundreds of locations. I am used to working with objects but not databases. For this situation however I want the security of SQLServer transactions to track, for example, when a robot moves a crate from one location to another.
I am thinking of using SQLServer as a store. On startup I want to get my ecosystem of objects out of the store. While I am running, I'll just use objects. When I change an object property I want it to securely persist. I don't want to snapshot the whole menagerie of object states, just update the values that changed. Which will sometimes include the addition or deletion of objects. How do I do this? Is there an example somewhere that does this (or approximately this)?
I use VB and have Visual Studio 2005. (Which, by the way, is stunning. I thought all that "you will use less time and code more and better" talk was just hype. But its for real. Amazing product.)
Hi All, I want to store files (any kind of file) in DB and retrieve them. What is the best method to do it and also please post sample code as I have never done that. Thanks, Kumar.
I am trying to 'load' a copy of a SQLServer 2000 database to SQLServer 2005 Express (on another host). The copy was provided by someone else - it came to me as a MDF file only, no LDF file.
I have tried to Attach the database and it fails with a failure to load the LDF. Is there any way to bypass this issue without the LDF or do I have to have that?
The provider of the database says I can create a new database and just point to the MDF as the data source but I can't seem to find a way to do that? I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express.
I'm running packages from C# code and thus I need to create an instance of SqlServer.DTS.Runtime.Application. In my maching, creating the application instance doesn't even take 1 sec but when the application was deployed to our QA server creating the instance took 30 secs (always ... every single time with no exception).
this single code is taking the 30 secs:
Application integrationService = New Application();
Does anyone have any idea what I need to check or configure to make this faster?
Hi I developed a windows application in Visual studio 2005 and the database is sqlexpress. I wanted my application to run on another system. For that i have installed sqlexpress 2005 on that machine. But that machine doesn't show me any enterprise manager or query manager for sqlserver. Thensave these pieces of data to a new row in a SQL DB. My issue... The SQLSmd.ExecuteNonQuery FAILS... I have got all the fields able to connect and almost save... but for the actual "document" field errors out. The user can select any type of file (image, word, excel, Powerpoint, etc) for storage into the DB. I am not storing a referance to a file or the path to a file but the actual file in SQL.In the DB I have the field (Document) set to a type of VarBinary(8000) in the table.
