I HAVE A SELECT STATEMENT WITH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS AND SOMETHING ELSE TOO. FOR EACH TEACHER I ONLY NEED ONE(FIRST ONE) STUDENT. HOW THE STATEMENT SHOULD BE?
I am working in SQL Server Master Data Services  Version 11.0.5058.0 (SP 2).
I have been asked to group all the financial attributes together. Â When I move one of the attributes up using the arrows, it works good jumping over one attribute at a time. Â Then I reach a section of attributes where it leap frogs over 24 attributes.
It appears these 24 attributes are in a subgroup but there are no attribute groups and I removed the subscription view from the entity. Â If I move one of the 24 attributes in the group, it moves it outside of the 24 attributes.
This is under leaf member attributes. Â There are no collection or consolidated groups.
I'm using a DW from Northwind database to build a cube to do some analitical taks. I already create the cube and now I am "cleaning" the dimensions. I'm having some difficults to understand the logical off this part. The reason is that When I create the Data Source View, I only import the Foreign Keys that connect the Dimensions to Fact_Table. I have to drag the attributes of Dimension from Data Source View to the tab attributes?Â
Imagine this:
I have the following dimension:
Dim_Customer: Customer_ID Name_Customer Job_Function Date_of_Birth Contact Address City Country
When I create the cube only Customer_ID appears in attributes tab, it's normal?Â
One more question:
I don't want to create a hierarchy like:
Customer ID -> Name_Customer Customer ID -> Date_of_Birth Customer ID -> Address Customer ID -> City Customer ID -> Country
My idea is to create the following hierarchy:Â
Name_Customer ->Â Date_of_Birth ->Â Â Address ->Â Â City ->Â Country
But the first hierarchy that I show is always appears to me. Do you know what is happens?
I have a specification table that has some attributes defined. SpecId - Id of the specification Attribute - Attribute of the spec. (Like Color, HP etc) Value - Is the value of the attribute Then I have a car table that actually has information about the cars. Intention is to take each specification and match the cars that match the specification. If the car has more attributes than the spec, we ignore the extra attributes for the match. But if the car has less attributes, we don't even consider the car as a match (even if the attributes present, match). To summarize, the car's attributes should be >= spec's attributes.
The code I have below is bad because I am joining the same tables twice. In addition, it fails in the condition "the car's attributes should be >= spec's attributes"
INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S1', 'Type', 'Sedan') INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S1', 'Transmission', 'Auto') INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S1', 'HP', '220')
INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S2', 'Type', 'SUV') INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S2', 'Transmission', 'Manual') INSERT INTO @Specification VALUES ('S2', 'HP', '300')
INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'Type', 'Sedan') INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'Transmission', 'Auto') INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'HP', '220') INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Accord', 'Color', 'Black')
INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Escape', 'Type', 'SUV') INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Escape', 'Transmission', 'Manual') INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Escape', 'HP', '300')
INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Explorer', 'Type', 'SUV') INSERT INTO @Car VALUES ('Explorer', 'Transmission', 'Manual')
SELECT DISTINCT Spec.SpecId, Car.CarName FROM @Specification Spec INNER JOIN @Car Car ON Spec.Attribute = Car.Attribute AND Spec.Value = Car.Value WHERE Spec.SpecId NOT IN (SELECT Spec.SpecId FROM @Specification Spec LEFT OUTER JOIN @Car Car ON Spec.Attribute = Car.Attribute AND Spec.Value = Car.Value WHERE Car.CarName IS NULL)
I need some help.I am trying to write a query which does the followingSELECT * from table1 where field1=(SELECT distinct field1 FROM table1WHERE field2='2005' or field2='2010')I need all the values from table1 which match any value from field 1from the subquery.Any help is appreciated.thanks
I would like to query a table for a max value of one field for a distinct combination of two other fields. Let's call these fields RowID, ObjectID, and ObjectType. RowID is an auto-increment field, so for each distinct combination of ObjectID and ObjectType, there will be many values of RowID. To visualize an example:
Of these rows, I would only want 4, 5, and 6 (max values for distinct combination of ObjectID and ObjectType).
I hope I explained this clearly. I would imagine I'd need to use some form of nested query, but nothing I have tried so far has worked. I am using SQL 2005.
Hello, I have a table T1 with fields ID, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6….
I need to find if there is duplicated rows based on F1, F2, F3 columns. If there is set F5=’minimum’ where ID is MIN(ID). So the smallest should be set as minimum. How can I do this in a stored procedure?
Hi, All I have a problem with one table. This table is corrupted so I drop the table and recreate the table..(Of course I export data) After that I try to put the primary key to new table but it won't allow me to do it. Error message says " There are duplicated key existed" Therefore I open up the EM and take a look at that table. There is key in that table but not Primary key..(also from the query analyzer using sp_help) My question to U is how can I find this duplicated key and delete that info? I think somewhere in the system table contains this info but I don't know where:-(((
I have a column of primary key, integer and identity. It has been working fine til 2 days ago. Though the column is IDENTITY, it duplicated number by triple! How's that possible?
Has anyone came across this problem? If you have, how did you fix it?
Hello, I have a table T1 with fields ID, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6€¦.

I have a table that I truncate with an execute sql task, which uses the following statement: truncate table dbo.tablename.
Afterwards I fill the table with data. Sometimes it gives an error that there are duplicated keys in the table, but it's truncated before the fill... Is there anyone who has an idea on this matter?
I have just started developing in SQL Express in the last 2 months so still learning. The problem I€™m having with my stored procedure is that I get duplicate rows in my results. The row is a duplicate in terms of column 'Job No' as when the query runs in access only one instance of each 'Job No' is returned but when I recreate the query in SQL server I get a number of rows back for the same 'Job No'? How would I go about getting just 1 instance of each 'Job No' back? With column 'Days to Date' showing the total 'Days to Date' for each Job No. Please see Ms Access results if unsure of what I€™m asking.
A copy of the stored procedure is below and a sample of the out-put with Ms Access results at very bottom.
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[sl_DaysDonePerJob] AS
SELECT CASE WHEN [Job No] IS NULL THEN '' ELSE [Job No] END AS [Job No], SUM([Actual Days]) AS [Days to Date], CONVERT(nvarchar(10),MIN(SessionDate),101) AS [Start Date],
CONVERT(nvarchar(10),MAX(SessionDate),101) AS [End Date],
MAX(CASE WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=1 THEN 'Jan'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=2 THEN 'Feb'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=3 THEN 'Mar'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=4 THEN 'Apr'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=5 THEN 'May'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=6 THEN 'Jun'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=7 THEN 'Jul'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=8 THEN 'Aug'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=9 THEN 'Sep'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=10 THEN 'Oct'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=11 THEN 'Nov'
WHEN DATEPART(MM,SessionDate)=12 THEN 'Dec' END) AS 'End Month'
I have many data in a table in which some rows are duplicated. How can I, for all duplicated rows, delete the extra rows and leave only one? You may assume checking one column is enough to tell if a row is duplicated.
I have a unique account number for every record in the table (hence the p-key) however I have route numbers that are duplicated in the table. How do I find all records that have a ROUTE_NUMBER duplicated.
In other words, how do I query records where the route number occurs more than one time in the table.
I would like the following results....
ACCOUNT NUMBER ROUTE NUMBER NAME STATE 12345 1 WMT NY 48734 1 CBS TX 3945857 1 NBC LA
Hi, I've got a question! In a database I have a field interest-target with values like 8,15,115,3 and 18,13,15,6 and 51,6,7,118 etc. Now I like to select from these fields the value 8. I tried the following: SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE FIELD LIKE '%8,%' OR FIELD LIKE '%,8,%' OR FIELD LIKE '%,8%' I will the also get the value 18 wich I don't like :-( Any solutions here? Thanks! Roel
Is there a way in SQL Server to query for a character that is in a field? ... I have this old table before there was form validation, and I want to get the addresses out of the column that actually have an @.
I want to do something like this.
SELECT email FROM xyz WHERE email contains '@' AND email contains '.'
I've got a trouble with my query and left outer joins. I've got 2 tables, table A and B, both have the same record called ID. I used this query: SELECT * FROM A LEFT OUTER JOIN B ON A.ID = B.ID
This is OK and works fine, my trouble comes when i have a duplicated ID on both A and B. Instead of return 2 fields, it returns me 4.
Is there some way to force SQl server to return only the first founded on B, but the 2 duplicated IDs on the A table?
Need to remove the duplicated rows from a table which has text/ntext/image type columns. The table does not have any PK/Unique column. (I accept its a bad data model). But currently changing the data model is not possible. Hence doing changes in application.
I couldn't do 'SELECT DISTINCT * from table', since the table has text columns. Though there is no PK constraint, If I know that col1 and col2 are join PKs in the table, Is that possible to select the distinct rows from such a table.
Hi, I have a table named "std_attn", where, by some bad coding, lots of duplicated rows have been created. And the table don't have any PK. So Now tell me the way to remove the duplicaies..................

Hi, Can someone tell me if it is possible to do an SQL insert with a select (to copy specific records) query and specify the value for a specific field to insert in the new records instead of using the value in the field in the select statement. If so can you provide me with a simple example. Cheers Mark :)
