How can i transfer a database from Access to Sql Server 2000?
Exactly : i want to transfer a .mdb into .mdf, and i want to keep the structure of .mdb, a structure which have tables, queries, macros, modules... When i start the transfer with Data Transformation Services ( DTS- Import Data ) , i can see that DTS shows me only tables and queries. At the end of transfer, in my .mdf database, on server, i have only tables, without queries, macros, modules.
My question is how can i transfer the queries and macros ( exactly how are in .mdb ) to .mdf database?
I'm new to SQL server, and I would like to achieve below tasks. Kindly provide brief guildline on how to achieve these:
1.) I have managed to schedule job in SQL server to download the access database from remote server. 2.) Second, I would like to transfer all the data from my acccess database to my SQL tables.
May I know how do I achieve my task no 2???? I believe I need to write some script (procedure) in order to achieve this.
A question regarding SQL Server 2005 Express edition. Is it possible to export Access databases into SQL databases without using programming (e.g. using SQL and programming languages)?
I understand you can do this with DTS, but the Express edition seems not have DTS.
Hi I'm going to put my database in setup file that I've been ready before. My Software could be use from database after installing in every system , but other users won't be able to access to data or structure of database , even with adding of database to SQLServe Enterprise Manager . I am new to SQL Server 2000 and like to enquire the following.
Scenario: this current website is hosted by A but now taken over by B. B was given SQL server username and password and was instructed to download the database directly from A based on the username n pw given.
So my qns is: Is it possible to initiate data transfer from one server situated at locationA to another server at locationB that doesnt belong to the same domain? If can, by which ways? Using the DTS method? Or there are some settings to be configure at ODBC in order to initiate the data transfer?
Hi I have problem in configuring my web project on Window server 2000. I have created the web application using Visual Studio 2005 tools. I have configured Window server 2000 with the .Net Framework Version 2.0. I can access the page which doesn't have database access. The connection string in the web config file is giving me the problem that connection string can't be found. Does any one have any idea? I have managed to transfer the SQL SERVER 2000 database tables to access database by using DTS. But how can I transfer stored procedures in SQL SERVER to Access 2000
I would like to know if there will every be a clean way to transfer a database from a remote server to a local server (and back again). I've tried several different approaches, but they all currently have bugs/problems.
I've looked into database publishing wizard - but this creates a huge script that takes 10x longer to run than the old DTS transfer.
I've tried copying data, and objects separate, but this requires multiple steps, using DTS this was all done in one step.
I've tried using SSIS Transfer SQL Objects, but the defaults are not created, using DTS, the ENTIRE database was transfered, which is what I want.
I've tried using SSIS Transfer Database, but even when I select "Online" mode, I get an error asking me to select at least one source file, but there is nothing to select (no files appear in the pop up window).
I've tried copy database or backup database, but I do not have suffient permission on the remote server for these.
So many different ways to do it, but all fail!
PLEASE - make a simple way to transfer a database from a remote host and back again. I want to be able to select a database source and destination and have the database copied. PLEASE - at least restore the old way until other options are working first.
I have upsized an Access database into SQL Server and manged to getthe data in place ok. The wizard created an Access Project which Ihave started to modify.However, I am also trying to get data from an AS/400. Specifically fora currency/exchange rate file. I only want ot copy the records sincethe last copy otherwise there are a vast number of records.I have created a linked server to the AS/400 within SQL Server, andcreated a view, within my specific database which allows me to look atall the data in the table.However, my problem is that I want a VB routine, in the AccessProject, which lets me copy out specic records from the view into atable within the SQL Server database. I have several access database files. Now, we have new backoffice server with SQL6.5. How do I transfer the existing access database files to the new SQL server.

Is there any way to maintain audit trail of access to my SQL server 2000 database by any user ?? I need to log the timestamp of any insert/update/delete to any record in a table within the database by the user.
I set up a task to do a transfer of a SQL 2000 db to SQL 2005 in Integration Services (selected my servers, dbs, and chose DatabaseOnline method). In debug mode it processes for a little while and finally errors with:

Error: The Execute method on the task returned error code 0x80131500 (An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement.). The Execute method must succeed, and indicate the result using an "out" parameter.
We are currently running sql 2000 and are moving our database onto sql 2005 running on a different box.
We have managed to move the entire database, with users however the users permissions on specific tables/views/stored procedures have not been transferred, does anyone know a way of transferring user permissions rather then doing them all by hand?
The system is a large (over 500 table/views/stored procedures) and a very active one and therefore downtime is not optional.

hi all,I am trying to create a dts package to transfer data from tables in mysql server 2000 database to a db2 UDB v8.1.4 database. When I use ibmdb2 oledb driver for the destination this works fine except that rowsare committed on a row by row basis thus performance is slow. I wantto use the odbc driver but when I define it as the destination, i geterrors saying that the maximum number of rows failed has exceeded theminimum.Does anybody know what to do in order to get the transfer workingusing ibm db2 odbc as the datasource?ThanksLyn
Hi, I have a Users table in Oracle database and same table (Users) in SQL Server 2000 database. I want to create a DTS Package through which I can copy the data from Oracle database to SQL Server 2000 database. This package should run automatically at mid-night daily so that if there are some entries done in Oracle database then it get copied in SQL Server 2000 database. Also is there any way to copy only those entries from Oracle database which are not present in SQL Server 2000 database. Please help me in this regard as I am new to DTS.
We are planning to upgrade from sql server 7 to sql server 2000.The sql server 2000 will be installed on another server. If we have to move back from sql server 2000 to sql server 7 (if there are any problems on sql server 2000).is there a way to do it? i have a old database in foxpro and it has to be converted to sql server 6.5 database . the table in the foxpro has been broken into more than 1 tables in the sql server . so how can i transfer the data from 1 foxpro table to different tables in sql server 6.5. vineet

I've created a small company database where the tables reside in a SQLServer database. I'm using Access 2000 forms for a front end.I've got a System DSN set-up to SQL Server and am using links withinAccess 2000 to get to the SQL Server tables.My forms worked fine until I made a few minor changes to the databaseschema on SQL Server (e.g. added a foreign key, or added a column).After that, all the links break - I click on a table link and get anerror msg like "invalid object name."Deleting the links after a schema change and re-adding the links seemedto fix the problem. The forms I'd already created seemed to work fineafter re-creating the links.But then I got more advanced with my forms. I have it set up so thatfor certain entry fields, the combobox gets populated with values froma table (the description appears in the drop-down and the correspondingprimary key value gets populated in the table). I created a number offorms using this technique, entered data, and everything worked fine.Made a small schema change and it broke everything -- not the actualtable links, but the functionality for the drop-downs. My values nolonger appeared, and this was true for forms that accessed tables whoseschemas did not change.This is driving me nuts. Is there any way to keep my forms frombreaking each time I make a small schema change?Thanks.- Dana

But, yesterday our domain server is down,and we installed another domain(changed the domain name) ,now when I run my Application, there was error message : sql database access deny. Hi, I am new to the database concepts, maybe my questions are very basic. I transfered data from one sql server to another thru object/database transfer. The transfer was successful, ie., all the data was present in the new server too. I am using an application with ASP as front end and SQL server 6.5 as back end. So i am able to all new records, delete them, update them thru my ASP programs. But, i am not able to update the records which where transfered from the old server. I hope some one of can help me, as i said earlier i am new to databases, so give me a detailed solution.
May I know how to transfer Microsoft SQL Server's database from 1 PC to another PC? What I doing now is export the Microsoft SQL Server database to Microsoft Access format, then import it to the SQL Server of another PC. But the field type have to reset again.

Hi, I worked on a project in ASP.NET using SQL server 2000 as the back end. Its a conversion application that I rewrote in ASP.NET using C#. I need to import the old data in Access db into SQL server 2000 and I have very little knowledge about doing it. The data in not a direct one -one transformation. There are considerable changes to the Database design and data types. Any help and suggestions wud be really helpful. Also, any article links wud be great.
