How Do I Declarative Bind To A Data Member Of A Custom Class Object Stored In The Session
Dec 1, 2006
I have a SqlDataSource that has a parameter that I am trying
to set.
The item is stored in a session field called “GameObject
Game Object is a simple class that has a several variables.
I am trying to access the .name data member of the class.
<asp:SessionParameter Name="GameCode" SessionField="((GamingSystem)Session[‘GameObject’]).Name" />
This does not work. Is there a way to declarative bind to
the item that I am for.

I have a sql data source that runs a query that returns a users data (See below). I want to set the session variable "UserID" equal to the tkinit. How do I "bind" the session to a column from this select command? I tried this Session("UserID") = ("tkinit") but that doesn't work. I can hard code a session value, just can't figure out how to "bind" it from the sqldatasource..
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="getUserID" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:xxxConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT [tkinit], [tklast], [tkfirst], [tkfirst]+' '+[tklast] as fullname FROM [yyy] WHERE ([login] = @login)"><SelectParameters><asp:Parameter Name="login" Type="String" /></SelectParameters></asp:SqlDataSource>

public class Patient

public string Name
{
get { return name; }
set { name = value; }
}
}
and the code bind object to report like
MedcialCase medcialCase = new MedcialCase();
medcialCase.ID = Guid.NewGuid();
Patient patient = new Patient();
patient.Name = "Michael";
medcialCase.PatientOfMedcialCase = patient;
this.MedcialCaseBindingSource.DataSource = medcialCase;
this.reportViewer1.RefreshReport();
I choose the MedcialCase.ID and MedcialCase.PatientOfMedcialCase.Name to show, but when the report was run ,,just MedcialCase.ID has been shown,
the text of MedcialCase.PatientOfMedcialCase.Name is "=Fields!Name.Value"
I modify it to "=Fields!PatientOfMedcialCase.Value.Name.Value" and run it ,the "#Error" show in the text of Name
anyone can tell me why?and how to bind object like MedcialCase to the Report?
thanks!

Hi every experts
I have a exist Stored Procedure in SQL 2005 Server, the stored procedure contain few output parameter, I have no problem to get result from output parameter to display using label control by using SqlCommand in Visual Studio 2003. Now new in Visual Studio 2005, I can't use sqlcommand wizard anymore, therefore I try to use the new sqldatasource control. When I Configure Datasource in Sqldatasource wizard, I assign select field using exist stored procedure, the wizard control return all parameter in the list with auto assign the direction type(input/ouput....), after that, whatever I try, I click on Test Query Button at last part, I always get error message The Query did not return any data table.
My Question is How can I setup sqldatasource to access Stored Procedure which contain output parameter, and after that How can I assign the output parameter value to bind to the label control's Text field to show on web?
Thanks anyone, who can give me any advice.
Satoshi

Hi,
Is there a way to programmatically access the results of an SQLDataSource control select at the time it is binding to a DetailView? There are some fields in the data results I do not want to render to the page, but I still need for other stuff.
I know I can programmatically invoke a select method, but since it is selecting anyway for binding to the DetailView it would be better to get all the data in one swoop.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you could provide.
Best Regards,
Brett

I need to create a member that one of its Attributes (maybe my term is wrong) is a reference to another entity member named groupÂ
the codeÂ
createRequest.Members.MemberType = MemberType.Leaf;
createRequest.Members.Members = new System.Collections.ObjectModel.Collection<Member> { };
Member aNewMember = new Member();
aNewMember.MemberId = new MemberIdentifier() { Name = uag.groupName, MemberType = MemberType.Leaf };
[code]....
 "The attribute data type is not valid".Is it wrong to add the reference as attribute? How can I embed the reference in the new member?Â

I have several fuctions that I would like to share between my different script tasks in my SSIS package. I assume I do this by creating a custom class, but I cant quite figure it out. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Hello everybody,
I am new to .NET programming and the C# language. I'm coming from a ColdFusion/Java background, but am trying to learn .NET to further my abilities as a programmer, and take advantage of the CLR functionality in SQL Server.
What I am wondering is: is it possible to write an assembly which has stored procedures and functions that each utilize a custom class written within that assembly?
I am having some trouble with this concept. I am writing a UDF that will compile various data together and build a string from it. To help simplify the code, I want to build a custom class which will represent the primary object I am running the compilations against.
I would like to have the class be able to load its data directly from the database using a load() method. However, I am getting the following error when trying to run the UDF:
Msg 6522, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user defined routine or aggregate 'CompileList':

Any help and/or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Uknown Member is set to "Uknown" in the cube . This cannot be changed because it needs to be visible in other applications. However, in my particular MDX I want to create a custom set that excludes this member.
WITHSET setNoUnknowns as EXCLUDE( [Dim].[Hierarchy].CHILDREN, { [Dim].[Hierarchy].UNKNOWNMEMBER } )SELECT{[Measure].[MeasureName]} on COLUMNS,setNoUnknowns on ROWSFROM [Cube]
With the above MDX, I still get a return for member "Unknown". I've confirmed that there isn't an explicit member name of "Unknown".Excluding [Dim].[Hierarchy].[Unknown] does not work either.

I have OLE DB Connections set up in my connection manager (Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server). I would like to reference and query these connections from a custom task, written in C#. I currently reference it as follows:
using System.Data.OleDb;
...................................
OleDbConnection connection = (OleDbConnection) connections["MyConnection"].AcquireConnection(null);
What may be obvious to some (though wasn't to me, as I am new at this), when I run the task, I get an error saying that I cannot make this cast. After perusing the boards, I understand that this is because I am not making a cast to the right connection type. Well, that is where I am lost. What connection type (and corresponding library) do I need to reference? I want to continue to use the "Native OLE DB..." connection.
Thanks!

I have a VB-class object running inside MS Transaction server. A function inside this class makes use of a temp table when a user does a web-query on my server which gets some data from SQL 6.5. Problem is, although the temptable is destroyed at the end of the function, my TempDB in SQL gets gradually fuller with each query that runs.
Why does this happen. I cannot release any of the tempdb space already in use, so eventually the tempdb gets completely full and SQL stops running.
Any help will be appreciated.

Good Morning..
We're having a heck of a good time trying to implement our first CDE project in SSRS 2005.
In our SDE class library we have included an App.Config file where we want to store configuration settings..
Trouble is that when we view the configuration settings or connection string settings in debug mode, they're not being read for some reason..
Here's our app.config file:
-------------------------------------------------------------
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<configSections>
</configSections>
<appSettings>
<add key="eventLogName" value="FocusDPEEventLog" />
</appSettings>
<connectionStrings>
<add name="PassConnString" connectionString="Data Source=SOMEDATASOURSE;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=SOMEUSERNAME;Password=SOMEPASSWORD;Unicode=True"
providerName="System.Data.OracleClient" />
</connectionStrings>
</configuration>
-------------------------------------------------------------
Here's what our Immediate window Debugger is tellin' us about our configuration settings:
-------------------------------------------------------------
ConfigurationManager.AppSettings
{System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection}
[System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection]: {System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection}
base {System.Collections.Specialized.NameObjectCollectionBase}: {System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection}
AllKeys: {Dimensions:[0]}<----incorrect should be 1
ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings
Count = 1 <----ok, is one, but the wrong 1, see 3 lines down...
base {System.Configuration.ConfigurationElementCollection}: Count = 1
ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[0]
{data source=.SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true}<--Should be PassConnString
base {System.Configuration.ConfigurationElement}: {data source=.SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true}
ConnectionString: "data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true"
Name: "LocalSqlServer"
ProviderName: "System.Data.SqlClient"
Now notice the stuff in bold...I have NO IDEA where this gosh-danged thing is reading, but it doesn't seem like it's the app.config file in our class library...
thanks..

I have a C# application, and I need to store instances of various class objects in a database. For Example:
myClass oMyClass = new myClass(args);
oMyClass.Property1 = something;
oMyClass.Property2 = something;
Now I need to store the oMyClass object in the database for later use, at which point I would get it out of the database, cast it back to myClass, and be able to acess its properties, etc. My problem is that the classes that I am working with are not serializable, so I cannot store the objects as XML. Does anyone have an example of doing this programmatically with C# and ADO.NET. I am assuming that I would have to store it in a vabinary column, but how do I get it in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where I might find the Class and Sequence Diagrams for the SSIS framework (for Custom Components)?
I've just started trying to create some Custom Transform Components and
I'm really struggling to get my head around the component lifecycle
(i.e what methods are called when, with what arguments, and why) with
just the BOL documentation to guide me.
Thanks in advance,
Lawrie

I have a requirement in which i have to create a custom .net class library for Ex:-I retrieve password(s) from a thrid party component. Below is what i am doing.
(1) Created a custom class library which reads a custom .xml file from a drive Ex:- "D:MyAppMYAppCofig.xml" and sets to my properties of my custom class library and inside it i created an instance of third party component's class and passed these values. Since i need to use this .net custom class library both in web and ssis/database side i am using this custom .xml file.
(2) After validating passed data (properties set in custom .net class library) the thrid party component instance object created in my custom .net class libraty returs a password to me own custom .net class libray.
(3) This password I use in my web app for connecting to database. This code is working fine.
(4) My question is how to execute a custom .net class library code through ssis and to use the my same custom .net class library and pass the password to my SSIS component / taks so that that code block also uses the returned password to connect and do any needed tasks? In other words how to use custom .net class library from SSIS.
My Environment is as follows:-
SQL Server is : 2008 R2
VS.NET 2013

I am new to working with custom data types. I am trying to use one as an input parameter for a stored procedure, but I'm not sure what the syntax is.
I the design table view, the data type shows up as this:
DISPOSAL_AREA_NAME_TYPE:varchar(40)
What is the proper way to reference it in a stored procedure? Here is what I have, but it errors out:
CREATE PROCEDURE webservices_BENEFICIAL_USES_DM_SELECT
@DISPOSAL_AREA_NAME [DISPOSAL_AREA_NAME_TYPE:varchar(40)] = ""
AS
BEGIN

I know a sql stored procedure can return >1 tables. How can I use .Net 2.0 to read these tables one at a time, for example the first one could iterate Forum entries and the second one all internal links used in these forums... The idea is to use fewer backtrips to the sql server?

I wrote a C# class that has a couple of methods that can be called to grab data out of a flat file and import it to a DB. This class was written for a web applicaiton originally. (class has many complex business rules in it)
Now I would like to use this same class in a SSIS package.
Is it possible in a script task to create a new object with my class and use it's methods?
In the end all I want SSIS to do is create my object, call a method in that object and be done.
If I was doing this in DTS, I would have to create an .Net EXE that used my class but I'm hoping to avoid that in SSIS.

I created a stored procedure based custom conflict resolver in SQL 2005, I return the winning result set and also save that result set to a test table to compare the values. The values saved to the test table are correct but some of the values saved as the conflict winter are truncated.
Example a char(3) filed is updated at the subscriber as €˜111€™ and updated at the publisher as €˜222€™, in my custom conflict resolver if I use the value from the subscriber the conflict resolver updates the field as €™11 €˜, if I use the publisher value the conflict resolver updates the field as €™22 €˜. Now the same records is saved to the test table correctly as either €˜111€™ or €˜222€™ depending on the logic I used. So the result set has the correct values, its after the custom conflict resolver is called where the values is somehow truncated. Has anybody run into this before and what steps can I take to avoid this.
Thank you,
Pauly C

I can't figure out what is wrong with the code below.
The first line prints out correctly when I am logged in
If I substitute the actual username in the SQL, the Repeater works fine, printing out the item from the db. But using WHERE USERNAME='<%= User.Identity.Name%>' in the SelectCommand returns no rows.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Michael

Can we create custom object wide roles? In the same manner that db_datareader in effect grants SELECT on all tables, can we create roles that affect all objects without having to explicitly grant the permission on every object?

I want to insert data calling a stored procedure and call this from a Data Flow destination object. Is it possible?
I understand that Ole Db Command transformation object can call stored procedure, but that will not rollback in the event of error in the middle.
I understand that Ole Db Destination object will rollback in middle of import, but I don't see how to do the insert by calling stored procedure. "Sql Command" option in Ole Db Destination object does not seem to present solution to the problem.
Am I missing something here or is Ssis / Microsoft demanding that Insert stored procedure not be used when using Data Flow destination object to insert data into target table?

Hi,Using VB.net I have created a custom object (hope my terminology is correct here), it’s just a class that defines a few string, integer, and hash table variables. After creating an instance of this class and populating it with data I need to be able to store this instance of my object in a sql server data base table. How do I do this? I saw an article that used the image data type to achieve this (code was in java unfortunately) is this the correct approach. Could you please give me some code examples
Thanks

Hi all,
I installed SQL 2005 SP2 + ReportServices Add-in for Sharepoint (WSS 3.0). All it's OK until I try to grant database access in the Sharepoint Central Admin site.
I setup the Reporting Services Integration (Manage integration settings). I use the default SQL instance, I put the USERNAME and the PASSWORD of my ADMIN account in the ENTER CREDENTIALS windows.. When I click the "OK" button, I receive always the error ...
"A new member could not be added to a local group because the member has the wrong account type"
I tried a lot of things... without success.
Is there someone who can help me....
PS: There is no error in the LOG
Thanks
