Is there a known problem with BIS Deploy not clearing cache. I repeatly (but not always) have an issue where I will do a BIS Deploy of an RDL but when I run it, the old report runs. I can't clear this out until I explicitly log into the Report Manager and explicitly delete the RDL and re-deploy from the BIS.
Is there a workaround, fix, process change, configuration change I can do to keep this from happening?
Hi, we are deploying in an external server a report model and some reports developed with it.
We already have a procedure to deploy the model and reports one by one using upload files feature, we are worried about not to deployed all reports we have to (mistake in manual process). Is there a way to automatize this process?, a command, a program o somethink like this?.
I have created a report project file on my local machine. Now I'm trying to deploy those reports to a development server. I have installed sql server and tools in my local machine but never configured reporting services. When I try to deploy those reports, it asks username and password for reporting services login. But usually as far as I know, i should be able to deploy my reports without entering password etc. Even if I enter username and password, still they dont work. Is that becase I install SQL server in my local machine? Does anyone know why?
I have a web project and created a setup project for it. And I have to create reports using sql server reporting services. For this I have created an reportserver project and created two reports.
I have to create a setup file to install these reports in a remote machine.
How to do this?
where this .rdl and .rds files will be stored in the reportserver.

I am a beginner with SQL Reporting Services and having a problem. I can deploy reports with no parameters and the datasources fine. But when I deploy a report with a parameter I get the following error "An unexpected error occurred in Report Processing." I looked at the log file and this is what I found. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report. I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log to know the frequency of each report being used.
Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend? How can I acheive this?
I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info. I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.

Hi, I am a new user for RS so this might be a very dump question for some of the advanced users here.
I am using SQL 2005 RS and was wondering how I can deploy reports to specific folders that I created on the Reports page. I do know that I can go to Properties to move the reports to different folders. But the problem I have is when I deploy the reports from VS 2005 ( I created the reports using VS 2005) they were deployed back to the old/root folder. How can I change the 'deploy-to' destination folder for the reports in VS 2005?
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. (Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer)
Can reports be set up to run and print automatically to specific printers on a nightly basis. What I'm trying to accomplish is, I have 6 users who need to see specific transaction reports for thier department each day. Of course I don't want them to see the other departments reports.. What options do I have....
Hi, I am new to SQL Reporting Services and was wondering how to set it up so that the reports are automatically e-mailed to recipients if that is possible. Thanks, MKB
This seems to be a basic issue, but I am having a problem trying to deploy a report to Reporting Services.
I have setup the deployment options under the properties of the Project. But each time I try to deploy a report, I get "The request failed with HTTP status 504: Gateway Time-out"
When I try to connect to connect directly to the TargetServerURL via a web browser from my client or the server itself, I can browse the structure fine. Not sure why I can't deploy via Visual Studio.
I'm just wondering if there is any easy way to deploy reports to multiple servers. My current issue is that I need to deploy tens of reports onto tens of production server. Does anyone know how to do that?
I'm hoping someone here will be able to guide me in the right direction. I am trying to figure out a way of looping through table columns or a flat file in which there will be three parameters every time. With these parameters I am then wanting to run a report using two of these parameters to feed into the report and then email this out to an email address which would be my third parameter. Does anyone here have any idea how I would go about doing this?
We have a custom assembly that worked fine with SSRS 2000. Now that we have upgraded to SQL 2005 we get an "Access is denied" error when attempting to deploy reports that reference this assembly. I could swear that when we first attempted it it worked. We decided to make a minor change to the assembly code and that's when the problem started, even though I've since reverted back to the original code to make certain that the minor change wasn't the issue. The assembly is in the proper folder - C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2Reporting ServicesReportServerin - and the reports are referencing the current version. I've searched high and low on the web for an answer but have found nothing even remotely helpful. All this code does is return a string...it's not doing anything that should require any additional security; and even then I doubt if there would be a problem when deploying.
The full text of the error is: Error while loading code module: €˜Reporting, Version=1.0.2778.12272, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null€™. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'Reporting, Version=1.0.2778.12272, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.
I'm working with the Dec CTP of SQL 2005 SP2 and the associated Sharepoint addin.
I've been able to get a report created in VS2005 and manually uploaded to the Document Library holding reports, and the report works when I open it (using an internal datasource, not shared).
My first problem is I can't get VS2005 to deploy datasources or reports to my doc library. I have configured TargetDataSourceFolder http://server/site/doclib TargetReportFolder http://server/site/doclib TargetServerURL http://server/
When I try to deploy my Shared Data Source, it asks me to login, and will not accept my credentials (I am farm administrator, and site collection administrator, and local administrator, and a site owner)
Secondly, for the report I manually uploaded, I can't edit it in Report Builder (from Sharepoint) because I get stuck on entering something that works into the Select Site or Server dialog box. I've tried http://server/ and http://server/site/ and http://server/site/doclib
My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:
In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).
As an example:
I have a database table with a column called ID. I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".
With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data: 1 - 50 60 - 80 150 - 127
This will only return results within those ranges.
Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?
I have 2 identical Analytics cubes, Cube 1 & 2, my reports point to Cube 1, when Cube 2 is refreshed the reports data source is manually repointed to the updated Cube 2. The following day the Cube 1 is refreshed and again the reports data source is edited and repointed back to Cube 1.
This ensures that if a cube build failes the reports aren't down.
To modify the data source I connect to Reporting Services using SSMS go to the Data source folder and manually edit the Data source.
I have looked through the Reporting database in SQL Server but didn't see anything that resembled the connection string for me to edit.
Are the connection strings for the Data sources stored in the Reporting Database ? Where can I find them?
Here is a Microsoft document that gave me the idea. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/bestpractice/scoqryas.mspx
It talks about changing the connections strings in the Web UI? But doesn't tell you how or point to any docs that do.
Is there a way to automate this and is anyone else running a similar setup.
I am trying to find a way of creating my Repoting Services reports of automatically refreshing once our ETL load has completd. I have created a process that creates a file is a particular directory once the data has completed loading however I am unsure how to make the report look for this file and then refresh the report.
Is it possible to write SSRS 2008 reports to run on an existing SSRS 2005 server?
If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.
The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.
Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?
i am trying to deploy my reports to reporting server
but i get

i dont have http://localhost/ReportingServer running in my local system.
Is it necessary to deploy in localhost before to deploy to reportingserver? if not please let me know what is causing the above error?
Having finally managed to get over the hump of getting Sharepoint integrated mode working in a farm install, I am having a problem deploying reports from Visual Studio to Sharepoint.
Visual Studio is updated to Service Pack 2, as is of course the report server.
The reports APPEAR to deploy - they actually appear in the document library after deployment! But the result is:

Unfortunately I cannot view the reports in Sharepoint - I can see them in the document library but when I click them I get the same error, except in the web browser. "Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error".
The Report Server log shows the following:

Is it possible to have a report automatically export the results to Excel, when the report is generated? ...rather than having to select the format and click Export? .Pl let me know-Thanks.
Hello, I have a configuration where my SharePoint services are running on a web machine and the SQL server reporting services are running on a different machine. I installed SQL SP2 and the SQL Server Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint by following all the instructions listed in €œConfiguring Reporting Services for SharePoint 3.0 Integration€? (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326356.aspx). My issue is that when I Deploy a report from a VS Report Server project by running Visual Studio on the machine where reporting servicers is running, everything works fine. But if I try the same thing on any other machine on the network, I get a €œThe file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators.€? message.
I€™m sure I€™m missing something on the configuration but I can€™t tell what.
I can't deploy reports on Visual Studio2005 anymore. I say "anymore", because a few months ago, this went well. After building correctly, VS Studio asks for a Login for Reporting Services via a popup window. I don't know what to enter... In IIS ( version 5.1) , I configured Reports and ReportServer for integrated Windows Authentication. In Reporting Services Configuration, I have the Windows Security set on Windows Account, with a username and password that I also use (withoud success) to deploy the reports from Visual Studio. Since the user is a domain user, I tried as login also the complete domain name : domainusername. Nothing helps, the popup "Login for Reporting Servies" appears again and again. If I change the settings in IIS to allow for anonymous access ( machinenameIUSR_machinename), I get the error message that the permissions granted to that user are insufficient. I also changed the Windows Service Identity into "Local System" and "Local Service"; with the same result. In the Log file of Reporting Services, I also find following phrase : "ReportingServicesService!resourceutilities...INFO: Evaluation copy:0 days left" I don't know of there is a link between this and my problems Can anyone help me in this ?
I am having mucho difficulties deploying Report Models from my box.
I create a brand new report model project, I add a data source, a datasource view, and a report model. Everything builds fine. I setup the project to point to a valid SSRS Server (and I tried this on another person's box, everything worked fine), click deploy- enter the credentials, and the logon box just keeps popping back up instead of deploying.
When the credential box pops up, it has a "" in it. When I try this on another person's box, it works fine.
I just upgraded to SQL Server 2005 SP2, but I do not have Visual Studio 2005 SP1.
