How To Enable Auto-scroll By Middle Clicking

Oct 8, 2015

In SQL Server 2008 when I click the middle button I could scroll up and down(scroll wheel) by just flicking the mouse. We just upgraded to 2012 and I can't do that on my Lenovo ThinkPad. I am using an external wired usb mouse(Intelli Mouse) to scroll.

I have SQL server 2008 and 2012 installed on the same machine scrolling works in 2008 but not in 2012.

Turn Report Auto-scroll Feature Off When Toggling Drill-down

Aug 9, 2007

Is there a way to turn IE7's auto scroll off so that every time you drill down by clicking on one of the "+" toggle buttons the report doesn't recenter itself. We find this window jumping/scrolling highly annoying to watch.

This problem does NOT occur in FFox, just Microsoft's browsers.

We are displaying this report running on another server running Visual Studio 2005's ReportViewer control in an aspx (ASP.NET) page.

We are using SSRS 2005, std edition.
FFox 2.0.0.6, IE7.

Will be glad to post more info if requested.

SQL 2012 :: Enable Catalog Startup Auto Execution For SSISDB After Creation?

May 31, 2014

There is a checkbox when you create an SSIS catalog which says "Enable automatic execution of Integration Services stored procedure at SQL Server startup". It's a good practice to have this option on. BUT! How do you verify whether this option is ON or OFF after you have created a catalog and how do you enable it if it wasn't enabled at the time of creating the catalog?

Multi Value Parameter And Horizontal Scroll Bar Covering Data

Jan 16, 2008

I am working with a dynamically populated multi value parameter drop down list. In the case where there is only one value in the list, the horizontal scroll bar (due to the length of the value) covers up the first, and in this case only choice. The users cannot see it. This problem is only when running in report manager. It works ok in Visual Studio.

As a work around, I can add a dummy row, which then at least the users can see one row of data and then scroll down but, I would rather not do that, if there is another solution. Another option would be to set the default on the parameter so it is automatically selected but, in the case where there are many values, I do not want a default set.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Clicking Through To Errors

May 14, 2007

When I click on an error message in the messages/results screen, it no longer highlights the correct section of code to show where the error is - somehow it has gone out of sync and just highlights a random piece of code.

Does anyone know how to reset it so that the error in the messages screen matches up to the correct line of code?

Thanks

Can't Sort By Clicking Column Header In EM

Jan 18, 2001

My boss wants to know why I can sort information in the Enterprise Manager by clicking the column headings but he can't; like in the Job window clicking status to sort the jobs by status so all of the 'executing' jobs are listed first. I said no problem, let's apply SP2 and that should do the trick. To my chagrin it did not solve the problem. I would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks!

Error When Clicking OK On Edit Of Task

Oct 13, 2006

I've got a package that was imported from SQL 2000 into SQL 2005. I'm trying to edit it in Business Int. Dev Studio. When I open what used to be a data pump step in 2000, I'm able to edit items. However, when I click OK, it puts an error right below the buttons:

"" is not a value type

And it won't let me save my changes. I have no idea where this error is coming from. All the data pumps in this package cause the same error. Your help is appreciated.

SQL 2012 :: SSMS Auto-recovery / Auto-save New (unsaved) Queries

Feb 16, 2014

Since upgrading from SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2, I've noticed that it no longer autosaves queries that have not been manually saved first. If a file has been manually saved the autorecover files end up in the following directory:

However, I have ended up in the situation where I have unsaved queries when my computer has crashed and have not been able to recover them.

I have also found references to .sql files stored in temp files in the following directory, but the files here seem to be very haphazardly caught:

SQL Server 2005 Connection Crashes With Multiple User Clicking Same Link.

Mar 16, 2008

Hi,
I just developed a ASP.NET website with SQL Server 2005 as database. I am having connection crash problem when multiple user click on same link to fetch data from the database. If users click on different links or there is few seconds of time gap between the data access, then it works fine. But the connections crash problem only occurs when 2 or more users click same link at same time.
I am using the following kind of Datalayers to access the data from database:
public static ContentInformation GetContentForUpdate(int ContentId)
{
ContentInformation result = new ContentInformation(); ;
SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand();
command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
command.Connection = Connection;
command.CommandText = "Content_GetContentForUpdate1";
SqlParameter parameter = new SqlParameter("@ContentId", SqlDbType.Int);
parameter.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
parameter.Value = ContentId;
command.Parameters.Add(parameter);
try
{
command.Connection.Open();
SqlDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.SingleRow);

if (reader.Read())
{
// read the data
}
reader.Close();
}
catch (SqlException ex)
{
Trace.TraceError(ex.Message);
throw ex;
}
finally
{
command.Connection.Close();
}
return result;
}
I would be really grateful if someone can help me out with this problem. Waiting for the soonest reply. Thanks.

Average Of Middle 90%

Sep 21, 2007

Hello all!This might be a newbie question, and there might be something Im just not thinking of right now, but I have a set of values that I need to get the average of but only from the middle 90%. Example:11 <-From here1234456 <- To here.7I thought I could solve it by subqueries and do the following:Select (((Select sum top 5 order asc) + (Select sum top 5 order desc)) - sum total)/rows*0.9 which would give me what I want, but I realised that when aggregating I cant order the subqueries.This is for an application (that will run the query on a sql-server) that only takes one query (although subqueries should be fine), and thats why I have a problem, I cant build any views or things like that.I guess my question is very simple: How can I get a sum of the bottom 5 percent without sorting descending?

Returning Middle Records

Dec 7, 2006

I'm writing a page that will return data from my database to the user based on their search paramaters, over several pages with 20 matching records showing per page, and a next button on the bottom. Similar to the format of any search engine.
However, I'd like to write this into the query, and I'm not sure how I would go about doing so. For example:
 "SELECT TOP 20 to 40 * FROM Northwind"
 Hopefully this makes sense. Is there any way of doing this?
Thanks in advance,Russ

Only Put A Period . If There Is A Middle Intial.

Dec 29, 2003

I am trying to concatenate three fields into one in a View. I have the following data:
Last Name
First Name
Middle Initial (can be null)

I need my resultant field data to look like the following:
"Doe, John P."

I'm having a problem writing SQL that is sensitive to placing the period after the middle initial only if there is a middle initial present. If there isn't a middle initial, I just want the following: "Doe, John".

I have tried the following CASE statement:

CASE WHEN middleInitial IS NOT NULL THEN ' ' + middleInitial + '.' ELSE '' END

However, I get an error indicating that the CASE statement is not supported in the Query Designer.

How can I resolve this problem in a View? Is there a function similar to ISNULL(middleInitial, '') that would allow for the "."?
