When i run the project it should provide me an option to whether open or save or cancel the file. when i click open it should be opened and be viewed in a excel sheet in CSV format and when i click save it should ask the destination folder and should be saved there in CSV format and when i click cancel it should be cancelled and the application should be closed. pls note that all these actions should happen in the same browser and should not be redirected to anyother page. Can anybody give me the detailed description and code in Asp.Net using C# .It's very Urgent.

Hi, I'm a Student, and since a few months ago I'm learning JAVA. I'm creating an application to call and compare times. For this I create in Excel a time table which is quite big and it would be a lot of typing work to input one by one the data in each cell in SQL Server, considering that I have to create 8 more tables. I was able to retreive the data from excel usin the JXL API of JAVA but it doesn't give all the funtions to perform math operations as JDBC. That's why I need to move the tables from Excel to SQL.

May 14, 2015I have installed SQL 2014 (Evaluation Version) on testing machine. We want to import some excel files on database. I manually created one Test Database and now trying to import excel file. Import completed successfully but I am not able to see any table created as result of Import. I tried it 3-4 times and even restarted sql services but no luck.

I am able to import an excel spreadsheet into a table in sql server 2005 using SqlBulkCopy. The only thing that bothers me here is how to check duplicate entries and throw an error to the user regarding the duplicate entries. In the table in sql, there is no primary keys. There are five columns and the way I will have to find the duplicates is to match all those 5 columns. Since the excel spreadsheet can have 40 to 500 entries, how can I check those dupes.

this is thiru from India, hope i shall get answers here for my questions.
1. I need to import an Excel spread sheet to a remote sql server database through ASP.Net web application. I brief the process im following now please go through it.
Import Process:
a. select a fiile(.xls) and upload it to server.
b. using M/S Odbc Excel driver, and the uploaded excel file as datasource,
c. query the excel sheet to populate a dataset.
d. iterate through the rows of the dataset(I could not bulk copy the excel data, because
have to check the database, if record exists then update, else insert) to import to the
SQL Database
Performance issues:
1. I have to import spreadsheets having upto 60,000 records or even more at a time.
2. Is this a good option to use a webapplication for this task (I use this approach because
my boss wants to do so).
3. some times the excel file size grows up to 7 mb(Though i shall adjust config settings,
uploading and then querying a 7 mb file shall be an ovverhead i think.)
4. is there any possibility to get the datasource with out uploading the file to the server (Like
modifying the connection string as "datasource=HtmlFileControl.PostedFile" instead,)(I
tried this but it gives me "unspecified error").
please analyse my problem and suggest me a possible solution.

loop through however many Excel files are placed in a directory and
then perform an import operation into a SQL table on each of these
files sequentially.
But i dont know how to get start?

DTS Import Problem ( From Excel Into Database)

ID int
zip varchar(255)
the zip code values in excel can be either 10 digit (08830-2345) or 5 digit (08830).
null zipcode values are inserted into database for records with 10 digit zip code. I think its because of the hypen "-" character. 5 digit zipcodes works fine.

For insert new entry...I used dataset and first all entry in dataset then i insert this dataset into datatabel of database.
For update edit entry....First i bind tabel to dataset then i update,delete in dataset then i insert dataset to database then there are problem that is there are once again entry of dataset to that tabel.
I also solved this problem by delete record which bind to dataset on save(insert )data set to database and then again insert dataset to tabel and solve it.
But if any other option for it then plz replay me

I face a small problem in DTS, hope you can help me to solve this issue.
I designed a DTS package to import excel data ( with 4 column ) into SQL server database,The database design for the database table was
column name type length
ID bigint 8
CountedQty decimal 9
Location nvarchar 8
Other nvarchar 50
The DTS package is work and does not appear any error message. But the data in column 'Location' appeared <Null> after import into the database, this issue happen when the excel data was <numeric> value (string value in this data column can be accepted and appear nicely).
Izzit because nvarchar cannot accept numeric value ?

SSIS Error When Attempting To Import An Excel Spreadsheet Into A Database Table
Aug 28, 2006I am attempting to run an SSIS package that, among other things, imports a spreadsheet from excel into a database table. The package runs without any issues within Visual Studio. I have tried executing the package through both, the MSDB run package and through dtexec (trying to kick of the package through a stored procedure) and I get 2 different behaviors.
Using dtexec (the method I really need to use): The package will run successfully...up to the point when the spreadsheet is imported at which time it fails with Description: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. Here is the code:

Running it through the MSDB Run Package UI...It will also make it up to the point where the Excel spreadsheet is imported but errors with: The Product level is insufficient for the component "Lookup Station and Account Type: (1894) ...and 1 line with that same error for every single task in that dataflow. Here is the code it runs.

The machine is running 32 bit OS Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Db SQL Server 2005 32 bit. I found one forum posting that suggested turning the Delay Validation property to True...but that did not fix the issue. I did create the package with my username with a ProtectionLevel of EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey. I don't think it is related to the account however because all of the tasks (serveral work tables are created) up to the Excel import will execute.
I really need to get this working as soon as possible so am open to any solutions someone can present.

Nov 29, 2006I am trying to simplify a query given to me by one of my collegues written using the query designer of Access. Looking at the query there seem to be some syntax differences, so to see if this was the case I thought I would import the database to my SQL Server Developer edition.
I tried to start the wizard from within SQL Server Management Studio Express as shown in one of the articles on MSDN which did not work, but the manual method also suggested did work.
Trouble is that it gets most of the way through the import until it spews forth the following error messages:

"The operation could not be completed" The Microsoft ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider is not registered on the local machine (System.Data)
How can I address that issue? (e.g. Where is this provider and how do I install it?)

Iam new to the world of ASP .Net. Right now iam building an application that will IMPORT about 5,000 records from an Excel spreadsheet to a table in MS SQL Server. Right now the code works correctly, but i feel it is not efficient and takes a little bit of more time in doing the import. Could you guys throw some light on how i can make the code run more faster ? Someone suggested me that i can use DataAdapter and update the table in the database thru an update method available with it. I dont know how to do it? Could anyone share with me a snippet of code that does this ?

I have been browsing all day long trying to get some helps but I found none that really solves my problem. :( I am aware that I can use DTS in SQL server, however I want to build a web application for it. I can upload the file on the server, my problem is I want to load the data in excel file dynamically; I will need to create a table in the server dynamically everytime I import an excel file. Aug 3, 2004ARRGGH, I'm going to kill Excel or SQL Server!! I've spent an hour on this and I can't get it working. I'm importing some address data, and several of the zip codes are importing as NULL, even though in the Excel sheet, they look fine! Excel is complaining, something about the zip codes are numbers entered as text..whatever.. so I edited my SQL import and made it so the ZIP field gets created as varchar 50 instead of float. It still won't import right.
Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I know how to export an excel file to a sql server table, i need some help in comparing the excel file data with the sql table so to make the appropriate updates.

Import Excel Workbook / Form Into Server
Oct 20, 2014My database has mirgrated from Access to a SQL Server. As of now, we use SharePoint for our data entry form and it works great exporting an Excel workbook to my desktop and then import to the SQL Server and drop it in the tables that apply. The management team wants to get rid of SP and have all 110 project owners use a template Excel workbook I created and then anytime they have new projects or changes to existing they use this template and email it to me. The problem is the template has partial text, combox boxes, checkboxes and drop-down boxes. In Access I can spend a couple weeks creating VBA code to import this but not sure how this is done in SQL Server. The 2nd issue is why in the heck would they even want to go this route. This seems to be a coding nightmare, then I have to store all the Excel workbooks somewhere for history sake. It just seems to me that keeping the SP site is much smarter for them and for me. My question is not related to SP because I am going to push to keep that up anyway. I just want to know is it possible for SQL Server to import a workbook that has form functions on it easily or is it a stored procedure coding nightmare?
