Remove Duplicate Entries

May 8, 2008

I am a newb at ms sql and was hoping someone could help me
eliminate duplicate PRODUCT.PRODUCT from this statement.  I have tried using DISTINCT with the same results.The ProductImage table is causing this because
the duplicates are from the PRODUCT.PRODUCT that have more than 1 image.

 If anyone could rewrite this statement so I can learn from this, it would
be most appreciated!

Thank you for your time

 <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource3" runat="server"ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:LocalSqlServer %>"SelectCommand="SELECT Product.Product.productid,Product.Product.catid,Product.Product.name,Product.Product.smalltext,Product.Product.longtext,Product.Product.price,Product.ProductSpecial.saleprice, Product.ProductSpecial.feature,Product.ProductImage.imgId, Product.ProductImage.imgUrlFROM Product.ProductINNER JOIN Product.ProductSpecialON Product.ProductSpecial.productid = Product.Product.productidINNER JOIN Product.ProductImageON Product.Product.imgid = Product.ProductImage.imgId"></asp:SqlDataSource>

Remove Duplicate Data

Dec 16, 2004

I have a query that for one reason or another produces duplicate information in the result set. I have tried using DISTINCT and GROUP BY to remove the duplicates but because of the nature of the data I cannot get this to work, here is an example fo the data I am working with

ID Name Add1 Add2
1 Matt 16 Nowhere St Glasgow
1 Matt 16 Nowhere St Glasgow, Scotland
2 Jim 23 Blue St G65 TX
3 Bill 45 Red St
3 Bill 45 red St London

The problem is that a user can have one or more addresses!! I would like to be able to remove the duplicates by keeping the first duplicate ID that appears and getting rid of the second one. Any ideas?

Cheers

Faster Remove Duplicate SQL

Sep 5, 2007

I have a table containing over 100,000 email addresses. This email table gets duplicates in it, and our customers don't want a second (or third or fourth) copy of our news letter. To prevent this, we run the following SQL to kill the duplicates:

Code Snippet

DELETE FROM _email WHERE _email.eid IN
(
SELECT tbl1.eid FROM _email AS tbl1 WHERE Exists
(
SELECT emailaddress, Count(eid) FROM _email WHERE _email.emailaddress = tbl1.emailaddress GROUP BY _email.emailaddress HAVING Count(_email.eid) > 1
)
)
AND _email.eid NOT IN
(
SELECT Min(eid) FROM _email AS tbl1 WHERE Exists
(
SELECT emailaddress, Count(eid) FROM _email WHERE _email.emailaddress = tbl1.emailaddress GROUP BY _email.emailaddress HAVING Count(_email.eid) > 1
)
GROUP BY emailaddress
);
This query takes about 2hrs to run which is really hurting our server preformance. Is there any way to do this faster?

I am running SQL Server 2000

Thanks in advance

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Remove A Simple Duplicate

May 1, 2014

I found some duplicate data as I was going thru the logic of a data pump. The entire row is not duplicated however.I would like to delete only the one row.

This is a sample of the data:
DECLARE @SomeData TABLE
(
FirstName varchar(25)
, MiddleName varchar(25)
, LastName varchar(25)
, StreetAddress varchar(25)
, Suite varchar(25)
, City varchar(25)
, [State] varchar(25)
, PostalCode varchar(10)

[code]...

As you can see, Joe Smith has two rows, but only one of the rows is complete. I would like to delete only the row that has a NULL value in the phone and area code for Joe Smith. There are a few thousand rows that are like this. They have duplicates all but the area code and phone number.I am used to using a CTE to remove duplicates, but I am a little lost on this one. The things that I have tried, have not worked exactly as I planned.

Filtering/Grouping To Remove Duplicate Values...

Oct 18, 2001

There's some SQL below (T-SQL) & I'm wanting to have this result set
grouped by Venue_ID in order to remove rows where there are duplicate values contained in just one column.

The columns BCOM_ID contain unique values, but Venue_ID can have duplicate
values. I only want to get rows for one instance of the Venue_ID (per
BCOM_ID) - doesn't matter which instance but basically, no duplicates.

Oh yes, one of the columns is a Bit column.

Any ideas would be welcome & appreciated!

Many thanks,

2          3          pqrlmn              NULL                                      NULL
2          4          cdefgh              NULL                                      NULL
Now, I want unique rows from the above result set like :-
AID     BID      BNAME          DDATE                                   DAUTHOR

2          3          pqrlmn              NULL                                      NULL

I want to delete the records based on the max(Lasthardwarescandate) i.e. latest one, column where the machine name is duplicate menace it repeats. So how would i remove the duplicate machine names based on the Lasthardwarescandate column(There are multiple entries for the Lasthardwarescandate so i want to fetch the latest date column).

Note: Duplication should be removed based on “Last Hardware Scan” date.

Only latest date should be considered from multiple records for the same system. "

Duplicate Logging In SSIS

Oct 12, 2007

I am having a problem where duplicate log statements are being written to a log file (as defined by a log provider).

I believe that this is because in the logging dialog box, I have ticked the checkbox next to a child task to override the logging functionality.
I need to do this because it is a script task and I want to capture "ScriptTaskLogEntry" events (something that I cannot do at the parent level).
However by doing this I seem to get the script events written at the parent, as well as at the Script Task level.

Is there any way of avoiding this, but still capturing the log events from the script task?

Another issue that is possibly linked is that I am getting an error from the log provider:

The SSIS logging provider "SSIS log provider for Text files" failed with error code 0x800700EA ((null)). This indicates a logging error attributable to the specified log provider.

Could this be because of the parent and child task are both attempting to write to the same log provider?

Thanks in advance

Duplicate Primary Key Issue In SSIS

Apr 25, 2008

I have 3 source for IS flow. One is flat file, one is DB table and one is output bad data. It might be a situation when I could have duplicate primary key since records come from 3 sources (flat file, db table, reject (output) table). Can any one give me suggestion how to handle duplicate primary key problem in this situation.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks..

SSIS:package Contains Two Objects With The Duplicate Name

Feb 22, 2007

public static void CreateDestDFC1()
{
destinationDataFlowComponent1 = dataFlowTask.ComponentMetaDataCollection.New(); destinationDataFlowComponent1.Name = "SQL Server Destination 1"; destinationDataFlowComponent1.ComponentClassID = "{5244B484-7C76-4026-9A01-00928EA81550}";
managedOleInstance1 = destinationDataFlowComponent1.Instantiate(); managedOleInstance1.ProvideComponentProperties(); managedOleInstance1.SetComponentProperty("BulkInsertTableName", "Employee"); managedOleInstance1.AcquireConnections(null); managedOleInstance1.ReinitializeMetaData(); managedOleInstance1.ReleaseConnections();
}
//Second one here..
public static void CreateDestDFC2()
{
destinationDataFlowComponent2 = dataFlowTask.ComponentMetaDataCollection.New(); destinationDataFlowComponent2.Name = "SQL Server Destination 2"; destinationDataFlowComponent2.ComponentClassID = "{5244B484-7C76-4026-9A01-00928EA81550}";
managedOleInstance2 = destinationDataFlowComponent2.Instantiate(); managedOleInstance2.ProvideComponentProperties(); managedOleInstance2.SetComponentProperty("BulkInsertTableName", "Customer");
managedOleInstance2.AcquireConnections(null);
managedOleInstance2.ReinitializeMetaData();
managedOleInstance2.ReleaseConnections();
}
And its giving a error.can anyone say why? or can anyone change this?
The package contains two objects with the duplicate name of "component "SQL Server Destination" (50)" and "component "SQL Server Destination" (22)".

SSIS- Doing Conditional Duplicate Removals

Jan 22, 2008

Hi,

First post here. Anyway, I have a question regarding SSIS. I'm currently given a task that requires reading a flat file, applying duplicate removal as well as invalid data removal, processing it, and finally writing it to a SQL Server 2005 DB.

Part of the processing requires checking for partial duplicates in the batches of records provided in the text file. For example, the record contains a a phone number, status, timestamp of creation and various other entries. If a phone number is repeated (meaning, duplicate entry), a column called 'Status' must be checked, and only entries with the status of 'C' is allowed through.

Another part of the processing requires that if the phone number is repeated along with various other entries including status, the timestamp of creation is checked and only the entry with the most recent timestamp is accepted.

I would like to know how to implement this in SSIS without using table objects and scripts, as my experience tells me that doing this in a script can really take a hit on system performance. The task is expected to handle tens of thousands of records in a day.

Any help will be appriciated.

Thanks.

What's In SSIS Causing Duplicate Records?

Jan 7, 2008

I've a dtsx package which runs nightly to do following:

1. select data from a SQL replicated table
2. do some lookups (Lookup, Derived Column, Multicast, Conditional Split, etc.)
3. insert into another SQL table on another server using "Table or view - fast load", rows per batch = 10000, maximum insert commit size = 10000, and "redirect row" on error output on destination to an error log text file.
Once in a while, I found duplicate records in the error log; these rows cannot be inserted into destination table due to primary constraint. For example, transaction_id=111000 appears twice in the error log but it is a unique key in the source table.

My questions:
1. What could be the cause of duplicating rows during ETL in SSIS? I've asked this before and have spent so much time research but still could not find the reason. This link is from my previous post:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=452319&SiteID=1

2. For a daily extract data with over millions of rows, what would be best to set rows per batch, maximum insert commit size, etc? I've read some posts on this forum and decide to use 10000 for both, but once in a while there's just one duplicate rows that causes the whole batch of 10000 rows not committed.

Thanks for any feedbacks.

Integration Services :: Remove Duplicates And Maintain Dupe Log By Using SSIS

Jun 23, 2015

I had Excel file input & import to DB Table by using Data flow in SSIS.but it had duplicates so I dont use the Dupe Records

So I planned like below:

Method 1:
Here OLEDB Destination are Good Records(Without Duplicates)
        OLEDB Destination are Not Good Records(only Duplicates)
                    or
 Method :2
If I add a column(GOOD_RECORD) in DB Table and Should I update '1' for  top 1 record (for Good Record)  and remaining as '0' for other Records (for Dups)latter I utilize Through flag of GOOD_RECORD

 i.e.,,  select * from DB_TABLE where GOOD_RECORD='1' .

I think that Method :2 Advisable for Performance/flexible but Here How can I update by using SSIS(Data flow)    ????
