I am creating a website with a form that users can fill up the
information. This form is about the school's information of the users.
After fill up this form, the users will have to click the submit button
that will submit the form to be saved in a database.
I have created the database for that form. My question is how can I
save the result of this form to my database. Let's say I have 5
textboxes in that form, name, school's name, school's address, major,
and comments.
I want to write a small program (maybe just a stored procedure) that will save the results and column names of a simple query to CSV file. This will then be copied onto disk and distributed to user who'll use Excel or a similar package to open the CSV file.
Any suggestions as to the best way to achieve this? I was considering using a view and then BCP but I have problems then when trying to open the CSV file in excel (or other spreadsheet package). Doesn't like the datatypes and so on.
Is there a simple way to do this? And is it possible to save the results in such a way that Excel will choose the right datatypes for the columns. (not convert varchar's like '000122' to numbers.)
How do I save my query results into new table.... The ORIGINAL COLUMN Of course before parsing--- But the only data I want is in the three no name columns---(NO Column Name),(NO Column Name),(NO Column Name)I don’t want the original column saved back but I think it existing in the final query is blocking my Insert Into---
Can anyone show me how to run a prediction query and save the results to a sql table without using the T-SQL OPENQUERY tip here http://www.sqlserverdatamining.com/DMCommunity/TipsNTricks/3914.aspx? I am looking for an example in vb.net that I can use in a SSIS script task.
I have cubes that hold quite a few calculations and so creating Excel pivot table views from it take a long time. This is even true for Excel 2007.
Now I wonder if it would be possible to write back all the calculation results to a relational table - maybe one that exactly matches the report format - so creating another report would be much faster?
SSRS seems to be a way to go but it does not speed up my Excel case.
I read about write-back in ROLAP and MOLAP but I don't think any of these concepts help me to really speed up my reports.
The closest thing I was able to find so far, which besides seems to do exactly what I want is Microsoft's new PerformancePoint 2007. It's just it seems overkill for my projects and the price is at $20K.
I've Executed DBCC CHECKDB in the T-SQL in the Query Analyser, then i got results in the Grid, but i wana to store that Information Immidiatly in the Text file, useing T-SQL Script, please help any one how to write T-SQL.
i know that going into menu-Query- Results to File. i don't want to do like that.
I want to save through writing T-SQL Script
Please help any body know.... Thanks in Advance....
I believe saving prediction query results to relational tables is possible (the BI studio does it!). I am not clear on how to do this w/o the BI studio, which means if I write a DMX query and want to store its output to a relational table, how do I do it?
I am trying to fetch records from excel sheet using Select Query but I am getting the error message saying
"Msg 7302, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot create an instance of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)"." Here is my Query, sp_configure 'show advanced options',1 reconfigure with override go sp_configure 'Ad Hoc Distributed Queries',1 reconfigure with override go reconfigure SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET ('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Excel 8.0;Database=C:M2MworkedworkedBOS.xlsx;HDR=YES', 'select * from [Sheet1$]') AS A;
Can someone demonstrate a SIMPLE way to do this that does not requireadditional functions or stored procedures to be created? Lets say Iwant to execute the following simple query - "select * from clients" -and save the results to a text file, we will assume c: esults.txtHow can I do this in one step?
I'm just starting off in SSIS and have a question that I can't find an answer to...
I'm loading in a number of files (in separate Data Flows) and performing some transformations on them before merging them back together. What I'm not sure about is what I should be doing with the data at the end of each of my "Import Data From XXXX Flat File" Data Flows. Am I better off using OLE DB Destinations (or SQL Server Destinations) and saving this intermediate data to temporary tables, or am I better off using a Raw File Destinations and saving this intermediate data to files? Or is there, perhaps, a better option that I'm currently unaware of?
If the Raw File Destination is the way to go, then isn't there a maintenance issue with cleaning up all the files created? And will there not be a management issue to ensure that there is sufficient disc space available on the drive you are saving to?
I'm a bit confused and overwhelmed by SSIS at the moment, so any help would be much appreciated!
Hello, My company Intranet has a form that agents can use to post their comments about the company to upper management, but our customer service department would like to modify the form so that the agent has to pick from a comment type. The dropdown options on the form will be as follows: ComplimentsComplaintsGeneral CommentsSuggestions Each dropdown option has a designated table in a SQL DB.Using postback on the same page, I need to change which fields of the form are visible based upon which dropdown selection the user chooses, and I need the fields to then be inserted into the table that corresponds with the dropdown selection item. For example: If the Compliments dropdown selection is picked, I need a text box to show for the user's location, the name of the customer, account number, and the message box. Once the submit button is clicked, the characters in these boxes need to be inserted into the Compliments table using its data adapter. However, if the user selects Suggestions, the name of the customer and the account number should not be visible, since these fields do not exist and when the submit button is pressed, the Suggestions table should be updated. If you need more information, I will provide whatever is needed. As always, thanks for everyone's assistance. Chris
I'm using SQL server on godaddy.com, and for the life of me, tried all freakin day yesterday to get a form to send data to my table, and can't get it to work for the life of me
I think the asp form sends the information to the asp page that is to add the information to the tables correctly, but am not entirely sure, so here is the code for the form:
Now for the page that is giving me the problem (I think). I'm pretty sure I'm fudging up the connectivity somewhere because all I get is an http 500 error every time I try to upload the information.
Why won't it bloody connect?!?!
Also, is the DIM function on this page used to hide important information? If you guys can help me fix this, I'd be incredibly, incredibly greatful, I'm frustrated out of my mind!

Hello:I didn't find any documentation that notes save point names are casesensitive, but I guess they are...Stored Proc to reproduce:/* START CODE SNIPPET */If Exists (Select * From sysobjects Where Type = 'P' and Name ='TestSaveTran')Drop Procedure dbo.TestSaveTranGoCreate Procedure dbo.TestSaveTranAsBeginDeclare@tranCount int--Transaction HandlingSelect @tranCount = @@TRANCOUNTIf (@tranCount=0)Begin Tran localtranElseSave Tran localtranBegin Try--Simulate Error While ProcessingRAISERROR('Something bad happened', 16, 1)/*If this proc started transaction then commit it,otherwise return and let caller handle transaction*/IF (@tranCount=0)Commit Tran localtranEnd TryBegin Catch--Rollback to save pointRollback Tran LOCALTRAN --<< NOTE case change--Log Error--Reraise ErrorEnd CatchEndGo--Execute Stored ProcExec dbo.TestSaveTran/*Should receive the following message:Cannot roll back LOCALTRAN. No transaction or savepoint of that namewas found.*//* END CODE SNIPPET */What is really strange, if there is a transaction open, then no erroris thrown. So if you execute as so:/* START CODE SNIPPET */Begin Tran--Execute Stored ProcExec dbo.TestSaveTran/* END CODE SNIPPET */There is no "Cannot roll back LOCALTRAN...." message.Questions:1-)Can someone confirm save point names are case sensitve and this isnot happening because of a server setting?2-)Is this a logic error that I am not seeing in the example codeabove? We have changed our code to store the save point name in a variable, which will hopefully mitigate this "problem".Thx.
I've made a form and now all I want to do is save everything in the form into a new database file but I don't know how. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2005. Somehow I'm guessing that I have to set something somewhere so when the submit button is hit, it knows to save it to a database file which doesn't exist yet so it would have to create it. It should be easy but I can't figure it out.
I'm trying to do an extremely simple task here: add information from a signup form into an SQL database. Sadly, I can't figure out how to get the values into the DB.
I have a registration form, and upon the user clicking the submit button, I want the information to be processed and sent to my SQL database. Each textbox (i.e. username, password, email address) has a corresponding field in a table in the database.
How can I accomplish this? I under stand that I will need an onclick event handler.
Old Frontpage user here... I need to submit a form to a database, like in Frontpage and store the database on the web server. How do I accomplish this with Visual Studio Express...is there a ASP.NET component or do I need to code it? Many Thanks, Jake p.s. my ASP.NET 2.0 books are coming for Christmas!
The XML generated by notifications object needs to be saved. Where do I save it - in the database. That will still be stored in a table - with drawbacks!
Hi, I'm not very asp.net savy and could not find any solid examples of what I need done. I have one text box on my page and one submit button. I would like the information entered from the text box to go into a SQL database when clicking on the submit button. I'm not sure what the exact coding should be in order to get this operating the way I want. I'm coding in VB, this is what I have so far:

Untitled Page

Thanks, Derek

Hi all, Can someone please brief me on how to save 'pdf' files(there are about 15 files) into a SQL database and retrieve/open it from a datagrid? I have about 15 pdf files on my webserver and need to save it in the SQL database, so every pdf file saved in the database will have a primary key and the file will be saved either as 'ntext' or 'binary' type...I just have this rough idea. If someone has a ready code in VB.net then nothing better( i know thats a shortcut :) but it will help me like a tutorial. C# code will do too, I can then convert the code to Vb.net Thanks a ton.
1-I want to save records from a table located in my database1 on Server1 to a non existing table in another database2 in another server2. (The destination table doesn t exist, I want it to be created with T-SQL). How can I do that using T-SQL 2- Also, is there an other better practice to back up my table before I do some dammage inintentially and destroy the table or the records forever or does SQL server do that automatically for us. Thanks a lot for your advice.
A database EntryForm has a MenuStrip. How could the Menustrip implemented that it would have a Save and Restore data to the database for backup purposes?
What is the Menustrip for? None of the standard Items seems to work. What can be printed or previewed?
This question is NOT about how to save the data into the database from the EntryForm.
(VB 2005 Express) I have a textbox linked to a DataTable (database). I want to save its text into the database as a new row. What is the VB code? The following is not working.
Hi, I'm using Visual Studio and Visual Basic to save data about members in a database. I use SQL-database as it's included. However, I'm new to this saving in the datbase and wonder how I can at the best save data about a member without having to index each value in the arrays: The array has 2 index and is declared dim Results(6, 50) as string Of course, I can do results11, results12,... results150, results21, ...results250.... But it seems rather awkward to do it this way. I'm sure that there is a better way. Thanks, any assistance is appriciated! Best wishes, Per
Hello. As the subject heading says, I'm not able to insert data typed into the contact form on my page into a database table. I'm using an SqlDataSource object. Here's the code for this page:
