How To Access By Code Table Returned By SqlDataSource1 ???

Jun 5, 2008

Hi to all,

I'm writting code that needs to pass data returned by a SqlDataSource object to another object (user control to graph data)

Query in SqlDataSource object is OK, I've seen data returned by it at a GridView Object but I need to pass that data to an user control that needs a reference to the table that has the data

... What would be the code that do that task ??

 I'm new to develop web applications... using Visual Web Developer Express 2008

Help in advance

Truncate MS Access Table From Visual Studio Using Code

Dec 24, 2014

I am building a Visual Sudio process that will Truncate and load data to an Access database (2010) from SQL Server (2012). I have one "Execute SQL Task" for one table (LungCancer_HF_Patients):

"DELETE LungCancer_HF_Patients.* FROM LungCancer_HF_Patients;" that parses and works.

I have another table (Report1):

"DELETE Report1.* FROM Report1;"

that does not parse with a message "The query failed to parse. Incorrect syntax near '*'."

Why the first one parses correctly and the other one does not?

To Create Unique Table Names And Access Them In Code...

Jan 17, 2006

Hi all,My program is a central data processing application built in ASP.We have different companies that use different web pages on another webapplication (from different countries) to load some inventory data(merchandise - clothes).Here is my requirement: Load different types of data (in differentformats) into a common set of tables, to do this I have to firstfilter, do lookup's, use cross-reference tables on this data and thenload it into a couple of tables.Since data is so different everytime, I want to have one main storedprocedure in which I can build the table (I know the format of thisdata so I know what columns/types to create) into which I will feed thedata.After this I will create other stored procs/udf's that reference thistable (probably from the same main stored proc) 'cleanse' the databefore loading into the actual tables.How feasible is my approach? (if you can call it one :-) I do not wantto have seperate tables for each country, that will be too many and sothis plan...If not any other ideas will be really helpful.thanks much

Can Never Access Database Table From Code After Copying To Another SQL Server...

Nov 29, 2007

I am not sure I understand the problem I am causing, but I am a beginner!

Here's the situation: I have a table located on MS SQL server database number 1. Said table, which we'll call WIDGET_PRICES, is accessed regularly by my existing source code and has no problems.

At some point, I decide to move operations to MS SQL database number 2 and do a very simple database copy of WIDGET_PRICES from database 1 to database 2 using the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

The end result, inevitably, is that my source code can no longer access the very same table as it is located on the new database server. The code hasn't changed, it's still trying to access WIDGET_PRICES as always. And, from what I see on my screen through Management Studio, WIDGET_PRICES appears just fine.

An example error is the one I just got:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e37'

Invalid object name 'YB_ITEMS'.

/yardbark/tampabay/header.asp, line 27

The only clue is that while my transferred tables often look named like "database1.WIDGET_PRICES on database 1, they wind up looking like database2.WIDGET_PRICES on dabase 2.

I include a little more detail and screenshots of the tables in questions at this web page.

Advice On Importing Access Data Into MSSQL Table Using Code

Aug 2, 2004

Hi,

I'm about to embark on writing some code in perl or VBscript that automatically synchronises a constantly updated Access database with an MSSQL database.

I know MSSQL has an import tool built into Enterprise manager but I'm wondering if theres a stored procedure that does this?

The way I'm thinking of doing it is to read the all the access tables into separate hash arrays and then INSERTing them into the MSSQL database after checking for any duplicates. This all sounds a bit time consuming (there are a large number of tables) and processor intensive.

If anyones done anything like this before, I'd love to hear their views......!

Thanks!

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@NameId",NameId));

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@retval",SqlDbType.Float));

Excel Source (351) Returned Error Code 0x80040E21

Oct 19, 2007

[DTS.Pipeline] Error: The PrimeOutput method on component "Excel Source" (351) returned error code 0x80040E21.
The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput().
The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing.

Here is my request: Print out the row number and the contents of the offending field when an error like this occurs.

Wish list item:Have One Switch that tells SSIS to keep going and skip bad row.
Now I have to tell it twice for every field and it still stops!

Enough already. Why let one bad record stop 65,000?

Data Access :: Recordset Returned By Query Have A Status Of Closed?

Oct 8, 2015

I'm running the following SQL query from LabVIEW, a graphical programming language, using the built in capabilities it has for database connectivity:

    DECLARE @currentID int
    SET @currentID = (SELECT MIN(ExperimentID) FROM Jobs_t WHERE JobStatus = 'ToRun');
    UPDATE [dbo].[Jobs_t]
    SET [JobStatus] = 'Pending'
    WHERE ExperimentID = @currentID;
    SELECT @currentID AS result
<main.img>

This is the analogous code to main() is a C-like language. The first block, which has the "Connection Information" wire going into it, opens a .udl file and creates an ADO.NET _Connection reference, which is later used to invoke methods for the query.

<execute query.img>

This is the inside of the second block, the one with "EXE" and the pink wire going into it. The boxes with the gray border operate much like "switch" statements. The wire going into the "?" terminal on these boxes determines which case gets executed. The yellow boxes with white rectangels dropping down are invoke nodes and property nodes; they accept a reference to an object and allow you to invoke methods and read/write properties of that object. You can see the _Recordset object here as well. <fetch recordset.img>

Here's the next block to be executed, the one whose icon reads "FETCH ALL". We see that the first thing to execute on the far left grabs some properties of the recordset, and returns them in a "struct" (the pink wire that goes into the box that reads "state"). This is where the code fails. The recordset opened in the previous VI (virtual instrument) has a status of "closed", and the purple variant (seen under "Read all the data available") comes back empty.

The rest of the code is fairly irrelevant, as it's just converting the received variant into usable data, and freeing the recordset reference opened previously. My question is, why would the status from the query of the recordset be "closed"? I realize that recordsets are "closed" when the query returns no rows, but executing that query in SSMS returns good data. Also, executing the LabVIEW code does the UPDATE in the query, so I know that's not broken either.

How To Show Description In Report Instead Of Code (Desc For Code Is In Master Table)

Mar 28, 2007

Dear Friends,

I am having 2 Tables.

Table 1: AddressBook
Fields --> User Name, Address, CountryCode

Table 2: Country
Fields --> Country Code, Country Name

Step 1 : I have created a Cube with these two tables using SSAS.

Step 2 : I have created a report in SSRS showing Address list.

The Column in the report are User Name, Address, Country Name

But I have no idea, how to convert this Country Code to Country name.

I am generating the report using the Layout tab. ( Data | Layout | Preview ) Report1.rdl [Design]

Anyone help me to solve this issue. Because, in our project most of the transaction tables have Code and Code description in master table. I need to convert all code into corresponding description in all my reports.

Thanks in advance.

SqlDataSource1.Insert() Inserts Data Twice

Aug 22, 2006

Hi there,
I'm having a problem where the data taken from the textboxes is being inserted into a table twice. I looked online and someone on another forum was experiencing the same problem. His solution was making the "submitdsabledcontrols" attribute of the form false. That hasn't fixed the issue for me.
Below is my code. I'm still learning all this so this is just a test page, hence the wacky naming conventions.
When the button click calls Button1_Click, all it runs is "SqlDataSource1.Insert()"
Any ideas?

How Can I Assign Data Returned From A Stored Procedure Into The Return Table Of A Table Valued Function

Apr 18, 2007

Here is the scenario,
I have 2 stored procedures, SP1 and SP2

SP1 has the following code:

declare @tmp as varchar(300)
set @tmp = 'SELECT * FROM
OPENROWSET ( ''SQLOLEDB'', ''SERVER=.;Trusted_Connection=yes'',
''SET FMTONLY OFF EXEC ' + db_name() + '..StoredProcedure'' )'

EXEC (@tmp)

SP2 has the following code:

SELECT *
FROM SP1 (which won't work because SP1 is a stored procedure. A view, a table valued function, or a temporary table must be used for this)

Views - can't use a view because they don't allow dynamic sql and the db_name() in the OPENROWSET function must be used.
Temp Tables - can't use these because it would cause a large hit on system performance due to the frequency SP2 and others like it will be used.
Functions - My last resort is to use a table valued function as shown:

FUNCTION MyFunction
( )
RETURNS @retTable
(
@Field1 int,
@Field2 varchar(50)
)
AS
BEGIN
-- the problem here is that I need to call SP1 and assign it's resulting data into the
-- @retTable variable

-- this statement is incorrect, but it's meaning is my goal
INSERT @retTableSELECT *FROM SP1

RETURN
END

Data Returned From .WriteXML Is Different Than What Is Returned In Query Analyzer.

Jun 20, 2006

I have a strange problem. I have some code that executes a sql query. If I run the query in SQL server query analyzer, I get a set of data returned for me as expected. This is the query listed on lines 3 and 4. I just manually type it into query analyzer.
Yet when I run the same query in my code, the result set is slightly different because it is missing some data. I am confused as to what is going on here. Basically to examine the sql result set returned, I write it out to an XML file. (See line 16).
Why the data returned is different, I have no idea. Also writing it out to an XML file is the only way I can look at the data. Otherwise looking at it in the debugger is impossible, with the hundreds of tree nodes returned.
If someone is able to help me figure this out, I would appreciate it.
1. public DataSet GetMarketList(string region, string marketRegion)2. {3.   string sql = @"SELECT a.RealEstMarket FROM MarketMap a, RegionMap b " + 4."WHERE  a.RegionCode = b.RegionCode"; 5.   DataSet dsMarketList = new DataSet();6.   SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(intranetConnStr);   7.   SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sql,sqlConn);8.  sqlConn.Open();9.   SqlDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); 10.   try11.   {12.   adapter.Fill(dsMarketList);

Neither of these seem to work, anyone else have any ideas?
