I have a field (type ntext, collation cyrillic). When I enter some text in cyrillic directly over SQL enterprise manager, everything is ok, it displays fine on the web page.But when I try to enter some text from a web form and execute the query, I get "????????" in the DB.When looking at the query, everything looks fine.I tried executing the same query in Query Analyzer, and then I also get "????????".So only direct text entering works, query doesn't.What could be the problem?Thank you.

Hello and greetings from Bulgaria!
The server of zendurl.com crashed and my forum gone away. With some help from the administrator, I got the latest database of it. But the forum is bulgarian, so there was mostly cyrillic. The problem is that the cyrillic can't be read in the latest database. Maybe the admin didn't save it properly. I tried to decode these symbols, but unfortunately with no success. I suppose that the encode must be UTF8 or something like this, I think that it can be done and I hope it works!
Here's the database: http://disasterpriser.data.bg/zendurl_zendurl0sk8ordie.zip
I hope that someone can recover the lost information.

Ok i've tried everything setting table collation to cyrillic setting the whole table language settings to Russian nothing works-i can only save ?????? instead of Russian symvols.(yes datatype is ntext not just text) I can directly input Russian letters from EMS SQL manager, and it will be ok, and i can even read it on my pages. But even if i try to execute SQL command through EMS manager (as opposite to just typing in the data) it will give me ????? again. If I save my ASP.net page in unicode it will give me ?? with some weird ` types symbols-but 70% of symbols would still be ????. I have already spend 45 hours googling and browsing forums but i still cannot solve it! I am so frustrated!
MS SQL Server 2005 Framework 2 ASP.net code looks like Win XP sp2
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;
using System.Data.Odbc;
using System.Data.SqlClient;
public partial class registration : System.Web.UI.Page
{
private const string ConnStr = "server=(local);database=main;Trusted_Connection=yes";
private const string ConnStr = "server=(local);database=main;Trusted_Connection=yes";
private void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection("server=(local);database=main;Trusted_Connection=yes;");
///ыуаыпвараеоеаореавп is russian random letters
SqlCommand myCommand = new SqlCommand("UPDATE quest SET Name='ыуаыпвараеоеаореавп' WHERE id=1", myConnection);
myConnection.Open();
SqlDataReader dr = myCommand.ExecuteReader();
myConnection.Close();
if i manually stop the script here and look at my dr variable i will see exactly sql command that i wrote (with no ????) but after execution in my database it is still ??????????????????????????????
Best Regards

So I need to select and average a whole bunch of data by week. Currently, I group by:
GROUP BY TO_CHAR(m.ENDTIME, 'IW')
and select using
SELECT ... TO_CHAR(m.ENDTIME, 'IW') Week
to summarize by week.
Since the first day of the year was a monday, it sets the weeks as monday-monday. I need to set the weeks to be Thursday 7pm to Thursday 7pm. How can this be achieved? Thanks.

Ilve install sql server 2012 in my pc and i want to change datetime default format. How can i do this and please i dont want to take the result from select convert() or select cast or something like this. I ve want to take the format i want writing query select datecolumn from table.
Now the format i have is: 2015-11-16 09:04:00.000
And i want this format: 16.11.2015 09:04:00
Is any way to convert automaticaly by select only column? or can i change at all once? or must write function to when i select the column can change automatic ? or another thing, i ve see in column properties something like formula. In computed column specification in formula i wrote this:
((CONVERT([varchar](10),getdate(),(104))+' ')+CONVERT([varchar](10),getdate(),(108)))
And I take the format i want automaticaly but i get the current date for all rows and i cant edit or insert that column anymore. So, how to change the format of date time but no from select query.

i am trying to take a field that has part of a date in it, so I have to parse it out as follows:
SUBSTRING(a1.Field1, 3, 2) + SUBSTRING(a1.Field1,5,2) + '20' + LEFT(a1.Field1,2)
This is because a date of 04/16/2014 will show as 160416 in the first part of the field I need to parse it out of, thus becoming 04162014.
From there I then need to convert this "date" into a legitimate SQL datetime type, so that I can then run a DATEDIFF to compare it to when the record was actually entered, which is a separate field in the table, and already in datetime format.
When I use the below statement, I am getting the message that, "Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string."
CAST((SUBSTRING(a1.Field1, 3, 2) + SUBSTRING(a1.Field1,5,2) + '20' + LEFT(a1.Field1,2)) as datetime)
I also tried CONVERT(datetime, (SUBSTRING(a1.Field1, 3, 2) + SUBSTRING(a1.Field1,5,2) + '20' + LEFT(a1.Field1,2)), and got the same message.
how I can parse that field, then convert it to a datetime format for running a DATEDIFF statement?

Hi,
I'm inserting a datetime values into sql server 2000 from c#
SQL server table details
Table nameate_test
columnname datatype
No int
date_t DateTime
C# coding
SqlConnection connectionToDatabase = new SqlConnection("Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=testdb;Integrated Security=SSPI");
connectionToDatabase.Open();
DataTable dt1 = new DataTable();
dt1.Columns.Add("no",typeof(System.Int16));
dt1.Columns.Add("date_t", typeof(System.DateTime));
DataRow dr = dt1.NewRow();
dr["no"] = 1;
dr["date_t"] = DateTime.Now;
dt1.Rows.Add(dr);
for(int i=0;i<dt1.Rows.Count;i++)
{
string str=dt1.Rows["no"].ToString();
DateTime dt=(DateTime)dt1.Rows["date_t"];
string insertQuery = "insert into date_test values(" + str + ",'" + dt + "')";
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(insertQuery, connectionToDatabase);
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
MessageBox.Show("saved");
}
When I run the above code, data is inserted into the table
The value in the date_t column is 2007-07-09 22:10:11 000.The milliseconds value is always 000 only.I need the millisecond values also in date_t column.
Is there any conversion needed for millisecond values?
thanks,

I am trying to process an XML document that contains the attribute 'from_x'. However an openxml query can't seem to find any column with a '_x' suffix. For example if I were to execute the following fragment:
declare @hDoc int, @Message varchar(200)
select @Message = '<BACK_FM from_x="12"></BACK_FM>'
exec sp_xml_preparedocument @hDoc OUTPUT, @Message
select from_x from openxml(@hDoc, 'BACK_FM',1) with (from_x int)
I get back a null value from the openxml query. Attribute names 'fromx' and 'from_y' work ok but nothing I have tried with a trailing '_x' will work.
Does anyone know if this is a known SQL Server bug? Is it a bug at all or something about XML that I don't know about?
Thanks,
Wayne King

Lets say I have a variable equal to a comma separated list.

I need to create a dynamic sql string to look like:
SET @Variable = ''' + '045' + ''' + ',' + ''' + '032' + ''' + ',' etc...
Can someone teach me a optimized query to do this?

Hi all, having a little problem with saving dates to sql databaseI've got the CreatedOn field in the table set to datetime type, but every time i try and run it i get an error kicked up Error "The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.The statement has been terminated."I've tried researching it but not been able to find something similar. Hey :)I'm facing a lot of troubles trying to create a new pause/break-system. Right now i'm building up the query that counts how many records that is inside 2 fields. Let me first show you my table:
ID (int) | stamp_start (Type: DateTime) | stamp_end (Type: DateTime) | Username (varchar)0 | 17-03-07 12:00:00 | 17-03-07 12:30:00 | Hovgaard
The client will enter a start time and a end time and this query should then count how many records that are inside this periode of time.
Example: The client enter starttime: 12:05 and endtime: 12:35.The query shall then return 1 record found. The same thing if the user enters 12:20 and 12:50.My current query looks like this:SELECT COUNT(ID) AS Expr1 FROM table WHERE (start_stamp <= @pausetime_start) AND (end_stamp >= @pausetime_end)But this will only count if I enter the exact same times as the one inside the table.Any ideas how I can figure this out?Thanks for your time so far :)/Jonas Hovgaard - Denmark

Hi,
I have a column of type datetime in sqlserver 2000. Whenever I try to insert the date
'31/08/2006 23:28:59'
I get the error "...datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value"
I've looked everywhere and I can't solve the problem. Please note, I first got this error from an asp.net page and in order to ensure that it wasn't some problem with culture settings I decided to run the query straight in Sql Query Anaylser. The results were the same. What else could it be?
cheers,

I need to write a stored procedure to report off of that separates the Answer field into 4 different columns. How can this be achieved? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
