PDF Export And True Type Font Rendering

Hi,
we use a 3of9 barcode font (TrueType). It works fine with Visual Studio, but when the report is run on the server, the font's width is false (2 times larger, but the correct height...).
We've test different font (barcode or not) and the problem occurs with all True Type fonts but not the True Type Outlines fonts... (and we not find any True Type Outlines barcode font)
Does anyone have an idea ?

BIDS Bug With SSIS Annotations

Since that thread has not received any further replies I thought I would start a new one to see what answer we can get from MS as well as if anyone else would care to reproduce.
The bug is not a major one and the work around is easy, but it can be annoying.
The bug is this: if I open an SSIS package in BIDS (RTM or SP1) and the only change I make is adding or modifying an annotation and then click on Save and then close BIDS does not save the new annotation or changes made to existing annotations. If I change something other than an annotation then BIDS does save the annotations with the package.
A careful observer will notice that when opening a package and then modifying or adding an annotation that BIDS does not even register that the package has been changed. This is evident by the lack of the trailing asterisk in the title bar after the package name.
In summary if I go into a package for the sole purpose of adding and/or modifying annotations they will not get saved. Workaround: modify something else in the package and then save.
Custom Annotations On SRS 2000 Charts
Feb 12, 2007I would like to be able to put custom annotations on charts. Specifically I have a line chart I want to annotate. I don't want to indicate all plot points, just areas of interest. For example, on one of our line charts there is a value for a week (weeks are the x-Axis) that is way out of whack with other weeks. I would like to be able to display only that value, circle that location on the chart and create a custom note so that when the report displays, all users can see it.
All I've been able to find that I can customize on SRS line charts is to add all plot points and be able to change their shape and color and font size. I want to be able to do way more than that with annotations. Is it possible? I have .NET programming abilities so I'd be willing to write code to do it, I just can't find any examples of how I can write custom code to do things like this.

Copy Annotations Out Of Xml/ Dtsx Package
Jul 14, 2006Is there a way to strip out the annotations from a dtsx package. I'm looking at quite a few and would like to automaticly pull those out and store them somewhere in either a table or a text file.
Is this possible or am I going to have to hand copy them out?

Is there anyway to change the data type of a variable while in an expression?
My problem is I am trying to compare a variable w/ a string data type to a variable w/ an object data type. I would change the data type of the variable from object to string but if I do that my sql task fails when it tries to write a value to that variable. The variable w/ the object data type is the result of an openquery sql stmnt. So I guess there are two ways around my problem.
1. Change data type of variable while in an expression..ie flow constriant
or
2. Change data type of vraiable from object to string and still get the openquery result to work.
Any help???

Hi.
I have tables (they are empty and there are no constraints) with columns typed as varchar. In a database I want to change the type of all the varchar columns in all the tables from varchar to nvarchar. What's the best way to do it? Can you suggest code?
I know that to get all the relevant columns I would issue a query like this
select *
from information_schema.columns
where data_type = 'varchar'
Then I would use a cursor... And that's exactly what I would not like to do. Is there any other way?

I use expressions to build the SQL query that is executed by the data flow.
Today, I ran into an issue. For the first time the SQL query has exceeded 4000 char so the expression cannot be validated and it is not possible to use it.
Is there a way to change the expression datatype to nvarchar(max) instead of the default nvarchar(4000) ?

Hi All,
I am using SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition fully patched. Database is in Simple Recovery mode.
I need to change a column's data type from "int(4)" to "smallint(2)". I know for sure that there will be no data (precision) lost, because I know the possible values that this column could have.
My problem is that the table I am dealing with has 600,000,000 records in it. I dropped all indexes before I tried to alter the table. But still it is taking forever and filling up my 280GB disk with transaction log file.
I know that in Oracle, if I want I can turn off logging and do these kind of modifications relatively faster.
I was wondering if there is a way of disabling logging before running this alter command.
What is the best practice to handle a situation of this sort?

Custom Transform Component, Change Type Or Add Output Column

I am extracting data from an Oracle database which is in Julian date format (represented within SSIS as a DT_NUMERIC column) and I need to to either transform the input column holding it into a date column, or to dynamically add a new output column holding the transformed data.

But when I try to deploy that SP to SQL Server Express , The SP Parameters become in the following Stature

But I don€™t want that Data types .. I want it to be in the following format
@ImageID uniqueidentifier
@ImageFileName nText
@Image Image
How Can I Control the data type for each parameter ??

How Can I defined the new Data type ??

What's the solution to this problem ??

User can select any chart eg. bar chart, pie chart, column chart etc. On selection screen should populate the chart type. I am not able to change chart type at runtime. Help please.

Update On Large Table - Change Data Type For Text Column
Dec 10, 2014I need to update a large table, about 55 million rows, without filling the transaction log, in the shortest time as possible. The goal is to alter the table and change the data type for Text column from VARCHAR(7900) to NVARCHAR(MAX).
Since I cannot do it with an ALTER TABLE statement (it would fill up the transaction log) I'm thinking to:
- rename column Text in Text_OLD
- add Text column of type NVARCHAR(MAX)
- copy values in batches from Text_OLD to Text
The table is defined like:

sID INTEGER NOT NULL,
pID INTEGER NOT NULL,
cID INTEGER NOT NULL,
err TINYINT NOT NULL,

I've thought about a stored procedure doing this but how to copy values in batch from Text_OLD to Text.
The code I would start with (doing just this part) is the following, but maybe there are more efficient ways to do it, or at least there's a better way to select @startSeq in the WHILE loop (avoiding to select a bunch of 100000 sequences and later selecting the max).
