i have SQL 2005 reporting services. I want to control the Export behavior of report into Excel format. When user exports the report,
1. i want to add a new Worksheet(with some data) to the Excel that is expoted as default by Report viewer?
2. There is a hyperlink in the report, When user export Report to Excel, i want to add some text before hyperlink.(this text should come only in exported Excel and not in actual report.) Is it possible to do this?
I am new to SSRS. I have created simple report using reporting services, In which i am using one List element and inside that 8 text boxes and a table, in which 4 texboxes is used as lable and remain 4 textbos is value from dataset and table displays details as below for each unquie call number with table header marked in red color. When i click preview i get below report(Report 1) for call number 4 and 10 records in table which is under list. But for call number 4 still 6 records as to be display in next page with text boxe element which marked in Green color in Report 1. Now i am getting report with out List element i.e (Report 2 given below )

Can any one please guide me how to do this kind of desing.
I have created a report that contained a subreport that was databound inside a table but I was getting errors when I export to excel - "Subreports within table/matrix cells are ignored".
So I changed my report to bind the subreport to a list control instead of a table and it exports to excel fine but I now have new issues:
1) When I export to pdf it seems to ignore width and height properties, creating a blank page every other page (because it thinks the list control is wider than the page), and it also overlaps other elements below the list control.
2) I also seems to have lost the paging in the viewer control that is handled by setting the interactive height property.
Are these known limitations of the list control and pdf or do I have something wrong in the way I have set-up the report. I can provide .rdlc file samples if necessary.
I found this method that will remove export options from a server report when called through ReportViewer. I like this one because you dont need to have a web reference to the SQL server to loop though each rendering extension. How do you call this method if for example, if wanted to remove the XML format from a particular report? I have tried ReflectivelySetVisibilityFalse("XML"), but no luck. Any clues?
I have been using the reportviewer control to display my ssrs reports. However, i'm facing issues in displaying Server reports in the control. The following error show up whenevr i click on View Report.
Execution 'aaxe3ke5k34l5355qbup0rvo' cannot be found
Please help if anyone has come across something similar
I have a user that says that after she installed the ActiveX control for printing, that she can no longer export the reports. Has this happened to anyone else? What settings do I need to check on her machine to fix this problem?
Why isn't there some documentation on how to do this. This should be really simple and it has taken me 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten an answer. Please Help Does anyone know the answner or some place where there is some documentation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get the following error when I try to substitute the strings in the databasedetails collection with variables: Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I created the following variables: strDestinationDB = AirCL2Exp_new3 strDestinationDBPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDATAAirCL2Exp_new3_Data.mdf strDestinationLGPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDATAAirCL2Exp_new3_Data.ldf strSourceDB = AirCL2Exp strSourceDBPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDataDataNewAirCL2Exp_Data.mdf strSourceLGPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDataDataNewAirCL2Exp_Log.ldf
I then assigned those variable to DatabaseDetails Collection:

Hello Friends, I have created few reports in SSRS 2005 on Windows 2003 Standard. Previouly I was not able to view reports from my .ASPX page which contained a ReportViewer, after going throuhg some other threads I was able to create a snap-shot for my reports . But still I'm not able to view reports, each time I try to view the page I get a message box with a error as : "Unable to locate control SSRS 2005: oReportCell" the same error is displayed when i try to access my reports from "http://localhost/reports.....". But the funny thing is I'm able to view the reports when I use the following URL: "http://localhost/reportserver/pages/reportviewer.aspx?/<report>". I have applied all the Hotfixes & installed the latest Service packs. Any suggestions ???????
Hi all; we have a requirement wherein we need to export the ssrs report to one of the following formats ni c# o MS-Excel o HTML o MS-Word o PDF o CSV o XML o RTF ive acomplished excel and pdf but cant do the same thing for the otther formats cos they are not supported using the render method pf localreport object
byte[] bytes = lr.Render("Excel", null, out mimeType, out encoding, out extension, out streamids, out warnings);
Hi, i hv made a rdl having 2 tables. My requirement is to display the tables on different sheets of excel, so i hv inserted "Page Break At End" in table1. As a result im getting tables in different sheets but second table (in sheet2) is starting from 2nd row of the sheet i.e. 1st row is coming as hidden, and i want to remove this row as client feed's this excel file in some other application. If anyone is aware of the solution pl. reply ASAP.
I had a report that exported to PDF just fine before installing SP2 and now it is completely messed up. The report consists of a table that has two header rows (the report is basically a calendar). First Header Row is Month - merged across all 7 columns, Second header row is day of week. The next row is a row containing the date and finally the last row contains the actual data that is populated into each day. It is a sub-report in each cell of the row. It used to export fine but after applying SP2 it exports to pdf like this:
1st page is the first header row (Month) - Nothing else on the page
2nd page is the 2nd header row (Day of Week) - Nothing else on this page.
3rd page is the 1st row of actual dates - Nothing else on the page.
4th page is the data that goes to that 1st row of dates on the 3rd page, this page all all following pages are fine and show the row with the date directly above the data row with no page breaks in-between. There is nothing in any of the controls forcing a page break (remember, it worked fine up until SP2 was applied).
What did the SP break? I am unable to modify my report now so that it exports to PDF correctly. What the heck???
Is it possible to have a report automatically export the results to Excel, when the report is generated? ...rather than having to select the format and click Export? .Pl let me know-Thanks.
I have an SSRS file with 2 total reports - the first is a sort of template - a matrix with about 6 varying parameters, and the second report uses the first as a subreport - ultimately, there are about 5 subreports on the second page, all using the main "template" report, with the only variance being certain parameters. The client wanted an excel file as the end result, and I decided the quickest way to populate the data they needed would be SSRS.
My problem is when I export this stuff to excel. The template report, by itself, comes out beautifully. The expand/collapse boxes on the groups are all aligned and the data just fits.
However, when I export the "combined" report, the whole thing turns to caca....
For one, subtotals are auto-magically added in for certain groups (these aren't in the main report, and they don't show render in IE, and subtotals are showing for groups where subtotals aren't even on. ) Annoying, but not major.
More importantly, the expand/collapse buttons for the matrix groupings seem to align to the top, and not the actual row of the grouping. So, if I wanted to expand the data on say, row 11, the '+' button is actually on the previous row (row 110). This is the real showstopper and just not acceptable on a usability level.
Again - the only difference between the two spreadsheets is that one is its own report, and the second one renders the same report from a subreport. On IE it looks identical. Any reason why simply using a sub would cause such drastic differences in excel appearance??
Please consider enhancing SQL 2005 Reporting Services to provide the ability to disable Clickthrough Reports (Live Links) at the Report and Export Function level. Today you can only enable or disable Clickthrough Reports at the View/Model Level for all Report Builder reports.
Hi All, I am placing a Matrix inside the table control for grouping requirements, but when we export the report to the Excel, the contents inside the table cell are ignored. Is there any way to get the full report exported, as per the Requirement. Please help me with this issue.
UPDATE #2: When it said "Do you want to install Microsoft SQL Server" I said "yes" and that caused it to work. I exited and re-ran and now the print runs w/o the "install SQL Server" (If the prompt had said "Do you want to install the print dialog" we wouldn't be having this discussion...)
UPDATE: After posting this i discovered that the same thing occurs when attempting to print the report direct from IE6: First a dialog pops up "Do you want to install this software?" Name: Microsoft SQL Server. When I click "Don't Install" I get the dialog "unable to load client print control." Since this happens direct from IE6 I suspect it's browser settings. I'll resume tomorrow and post a followup.
My WinForm C# app integrates Reporting Services by calling them from WebBrowser controls. The problem is attempts to print cause a dialog: "unable to load client print control."
I've read prior posts that say "enable Active-X in your browser" - I don't know how to do that from a WebBrowser control.
Any ideas how to support Reporting Services "Print" from within a WebBrowser control?
Hello SQL Server Experts, Data Analysts, and Report Writers et al:
re: Reporting Options with SQL Server
I wanted to propose an offshoot to the pryor thread:
Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports, Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting or presentation of the end report product?
Thank you to all, and I hope this is a beneficial discussion to others.
I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report. I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log to know the frequency of each report being used.
Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend? How can I acheive this?
I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info. I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.

My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:
In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).
As an example:
I have a database table with a column called ID. I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".
With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data: 1 - 50 60 - 80 150 - 127
This will only return results within those ranges.
Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?
Is there a way to copy reports from other users "My reports" folder? I am logging onto the management studio reporting services using an administrative account and I am able to view the reports from all users' "My Reports" folder. But I am not able to export them as an rdl file. I am able to export reports from other common folders, but not from the "My Reports" folder.
The reason I need to do this is some of the users have created some reports in one environment and the reports are available in their respective "My Reports" folder. I need to move these reports to their corresponding "My Reports" folder in another environment.
How can I Export Database with foreing Key and primary key.
Operation is that SQL2005 Management Studio/Database/Tasks/Export Data
Before Version is SQL2000 we can Selected Copy Object and data between server and then Use Default Options click checked and Select Copy Index, Copy Foreing Primary key vs vs
But this options is not found in the SQL2005 Management Studio/Database/Tasks/Export Data wizard or I can't found it.
How can I export foreing Key and primary key with SQL2005 Management Studio/Database/Tasks/Export Data wizard.
1. I downloaded ChartFXRSTrial and created one chart, and able to deploy it in ReportServer, but the problem is the reports are not showing there, i checked the configuration of .dll files in the help provided by chartFX, but couldn't get anything, so could help me on this.
2. How to give Tooltip for the X- axis or Y- axis values in the ReportServer , i tried using chartproperties of .rdl file, but didnt understand it. can help me on this, and one more i tried with Dundas too, If im giving tooltip as #valy then, it is showing samething in reportserver instead the values of 'Y-axis'.
I'm trying to export data from a SQL Server 2005 database to a DB2 database through SSIS. However, I keep getting an error that says "Could not retrieve table list" with Invalid Conversion. SQLSTATE=07006. Does anybody have any ideas or what the problem could be? -Kyle
Anyone know why cells within a matrix that are formatted as numeric export to Excel with a cell format proprty of "General"? Cells within a table however export with an appropriate format.
I am using BCP to export a Table to a TAB delimited file. This works great, but in some fields a NULL in the Table is being exported as a character zero in the Tab file. I confirmed this by looking at the Tab file with a Hex editor.
