How To Create Connection Manager For Oracle DB Using ODBC?

Hi,
I want to import data from Oracle database programmatically using ODBC connection manager. I was able to import data by creating an ODBC DSN and then using it BIDS with ADO.NET connection using ODBC data provider for Oracle. Now I want to do the same programmatically. How should I create a connection manager? I tried using code below
But I get an error when acquiring connection
ErrorCode=-1071611874
The connection manager "__" is an incorrect type. The type required is "__". The type available to the component is "__".
Which one of the connection managers given by Microsoft here should be used?

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have installed the SQL Native Client for XP. However, when I try to add a new data source through ODBC Connection Manager, SQL Native Client is not listed as an option. I have followed this procedure on three other systems with no problems. What would be causing the SQL Native Client to not show up in the list of available ODBC data sources?
I am testing out the ODBC connection manager, as part of my beta testing from my company. I created a new conn manager on the palate (dsn pointing to local sql server). But I am not sure how this one can be used. I can not use any of the Data flow sources which can use this ODBC connection manager. Using the said conn manager in a Datareader source shows up the error "Can not acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager".

I made a simple package that performs 2 Excecute SQL Tasks, one task does a select query on a SQL Server DB Table, the other task does a select query on an Oracle DB Table.
The package runs fine in BIDS when debugging, but when I deployed the package to a file system and added it to an sql server agent Job, it all went wrong ...
I tried the ms oledb dataprovider (ole db) for oracle but also the oracleclient data provider (ado.net) but the package always fails.
message Failed to acquire connection "aaa.bbb.oracleClient". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.
the OnError logrow for the package itself says almost the same.
Now my question is: What do I need to configure to get it all working? I think I need to configure the oracle db no? What should I configure? ...
I have created a simple SSIS package using the Import / Export wizard. I have, in Connection Manager, created a DataReaderSrc connection using .Net ProvidersODBC Provider to connect to my exising DSN name of AMPFM which is an ODBC connection to a InterSystems Cache Database. It test successfully but fails when I run the package with the error at the bottom of this text. I have also tried the following connection string which also tests successfully but then fails when I run the package:

Can someone help me with this problem? I need to create several packages to pull data from this Cache database on a regular basis and find myself stuck at this step.
I'm trying to implement a configurable way of executing a group of SQL statements using either an Oracle or SQL database as the source for the data.
I'm currently building a connection string with a Script Task and then assigning it to a package variable so that it can be used by a connection manager but this only works with a SQL OLEDB connection.
I'm holding all the connection details in a database table, hence the need for the scripting but would it be possible to extend the task to reuse a single connection manager by changing it's properties?
I am using the Oracle Provider for OLE DB (32 bit) to connect to an Oracle 10g database. I enter all the connection parameters and test the data source and I it says that the connection is successful. I then open the connection manager for the data source and see that the password has disappeared.
After reading entries on this forum, I tried to setting the package permission to UserKey, Password and others. Still no luck. Then I created an XML configuration file and set the connection string and password there as well. Still no luck.
Below is the message I am getting:

I have an issue when using Report Manager for viewing reports that use a certain Oracle data source. When viewing the reports in Report Designer the reports display without problems. But when trying to display the reports with Report Manager, after deploying the reports to the Report Server, I now get the following error message:
blablabla....ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified
For testing purposes I am running Report Designer, Report Server and Report Manager locally on a PC with Windows XP. I am using Reporting Services 2005, IIS 6, Visual Studio 2005, an Oracle 9.x client and an Oracle 9.x (not 100% sure) database that is hosted on a remote server.
Earlier I got an error message that stated "ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified". Access rights to some Oracle folders for the Network service account did the trick here but then I got the "NLS parameter" error message. What I have tried to do is removing the NLS_LANG register variable and also modified the value of the variable so that it matches the value of the NLS_LANG variable on the server that hosts the Oracle database, but none of them have worked. Any ideas?
Maybe this is an issue that is more appropriate in an Oracle forum but what the heck..the problem could reside in Reporting Services..

How to create a text file in UNIX format using Flat File connection manager. By default when we create a connection manager for flat files it is taking "CRLF" as the delimeter.
I beleive the format of the file will be decided based on the control line feed character at the end of each row. There are different control line feeds for different operating systems.

I have a linked server setup in dev environment which is pointing to ORACLE server of a third-party. I m on sql server 2008 r2 and using BIDS 2008 for building an SSIS package which would pull data from oracle and do a look up in SQL server table to get a final extract. Now the query which pulls data from a single table from linked server is like the one below
select * from [oracle linked server ]..dbo.tablename a left join mySQLSERVERtable b on a.id=b.id
Note:I can execute this query on SSMS as the linked server is setup -[oracle linked server ] and I have sql oledb connection manager for dev environment already configured in my ssis package .
My questions are do I need to create a SSIS CONNECTION manager specifically for linked server in my ssis package ?
Are there any best practices which we follow when using linked servers in this context ? I am thinking will the join suffer performance issue and what kind of exceptions I need to write when the linked server connection is broken.
I have an issue using parameterised reports connecting to Oracle using "ODBC" and "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle" using parameteried reports. The following error is generated "ORA-01008 not all variables bound (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle)" and a similiar one for ODBC. It works fine for simple reports. Do these 2 drivers have issues passing parameters for a remote Oracle query? Thanks.

I have an EXCEL file in 2003 / 2007 version. It contains some data. I want to import the data using SSIS into SQL Server 2005 (x64) database table. I have taken "EXCEL FILE SOURCE" and "SQL Server DESTINATION". It was failed on importing data. Surprisingly it works fine in SQL Server 2005 (x32). Can you please explain why it is NOT woking on (x64) ?

I have an SSIS package that I need to modify. It was developed in Visual Studio 2005 and runs faithfully in production on SQL Server 2005. Suddenly, I can't open the package on my own workstation. I see a big red "X" image and a message stating "Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document." The real reason the document can't be loaded appears to be:
Error loading DataWarehouseLoader.dtsx: The connection type "OLEDB" specified for connection manager "Warehouse Logging OLE DB" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.
Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do? The package has been in production for 9 months and I've never seen this problem before.

I am using VB.NET 2005 and set up an ODBC connection via ODBC.ODBCConnection to a MDB database. Therefor, I use the "Microsoft Access ODBC Driver (*.mdb)".
When I set up a ODBCCommand like "ALTER DATABASE..." or "CREATE TABLE..." and issue it with the com.ExecuteNonQuery() command, I get an error from ODBC driver, that a SQL statement has to begin with SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE.
How can I use DDL statements via ODBC?
I would appreciate if you could help me to use ODBC for that - no OLE, no ADO.
I am using SSIS 2014 with the below .net framework version and installed in Windows server 2012 R2 . I have installed my client's odbc drivers (both 32 bit and 64 bit) in my production server and created ODBC system DSNs for 32 bit and 64 bit.
When i open SSIS 2014 and tried to create the odbc connection but i can able to see only the 32 bit system DSN connection ,i can't able to see my 64 bit odbc system dsn connection.

why i can not see the ODBC 64 bit system DSN connection from SSIS in my production server ?
Please help share with me if you know the version compatibility matrix of Ms SQL Server, ODBC driver (sqlsrv32.dll), Driver Manager (odbc32.dll) and ODBC API spec. For instance, how can I know Ms SQL Server 2000 can work with which version of sqlsrv32.dll, a particular version of sqlsrv32.dll can work with which version of odbc32.dll and a certain version of sqlsrv32.dll/odbc32.dll conforms to which version of ODBC API spec (e.g. 3.5).
On my dev server I have working ssis packages that use connections Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle MSDAORA.1 and Oracle provider for oledb and OracleClient data provider.
I use one or the other according to my needs.
In anticipation and to prepare for the build of a new production server, I have build a test server from scratch and deployed to it the entire dev.
Almost everything works except Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle.
ssis packages on the test machine will return an error

I have used the same installers for OS, SQL and Oracle SQL*Net on both dev and test machines. The install and then the restore/deployment on Test went fine.

I have a package that uses a for loop to iterate through an unknown amount of excel files and pull their data into a table. However, there will be cases when the file is corrupted or has some sort of problem so that either the transformation will fail or the excel data source will fail with an oledb connection error. Could anyone suggest a clean way to trap these errors? Specifically, the "Cannot Aquire Connection from Connection Manager", which is the excel connection.

Hi, I am writing lots of data transformation tasks using both DTS Datapump and DataDrivem query. When we are trying to write it with source as MS-SqlServer 7.0 and Destination as Oracle 8I we are getting following error with MS and Oracled OLEDBs. We have tried with variuos tables and column name or query is not a problem thouth it works good with datapump tasks and workflows:

What is the Syntax? I can say "SELECT * FROM Invoices WHERE INVOICE_DATE > sysdate", but not INVOICE_DATE > sysdate - 1 (in any of its variations -- (sysdate-1), trunc(sysdate-1), trunc(sysdate)-1, etc.)
If using ODBC Access, I can say INVOICE_DATE > DATE()-180, but that syntax doesn't work with ODBC Oracle.
On a less positive note, is this beta software? The Import/Export wizard exports tables that cannot be re-imported. That's Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft Access. Varchar(3)'s turn into Memos, and unless someone tells me differently, nothing will turn a Memo back into a Varchar(3).
