I temporarely want to have a duplicate table from a sql database, but I got errors.
The next code I use in the codebehind of a webapplication:
"CREATE TABLE TempFile SELECT * FROM Projects WHERE ID =" & variable
I use ExecuteNonQuery, but got the error: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'SELECT'.
What can be wrong??

Would it be available to connect from VB.net 2003 to SQL Server XE? VB.net 2003 works on .net framework1.1 while SQL XE works on .net framwork 2.0 so i think this couldn't be done!!

I have a text file which needs to be created into a table (let's call it DataFile table). For now I'm just doing the manual DTS to import the txt into SQL server to create the table, which works. But here's my problem....
I need to extract data from DataFile table, here's my query:
select * from dbo.DataFile
where DF_SC_Case_Nbr not like '0000%';
Then I need to create a new table for the extracted data, let's call it ExtractedDataFile. But I don't know how to create a new table and insert the data I selected above into the new one.
Also, can the extraction and the creation of new table be done in just one stored procedure? or is there any other way of doing all this (including the importation of the text file)?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

If i try to use the attach database filename text box i receive an error "the datadase entered is not valid". Any suggestions ?

I have an Access 2003 front end that contains a number of linked tables on SQL Server 2005 SE. I recreated the application on a second network for testing and was able to use the Linked Table Manager to refresh the database connections. The problem is when I try and add another linked table. I select Link Tables from the menu and then when I select 'ODBC Databases()' from the 'Files of Type' list box, the Link window closes right away.
Any suggestions?
Kind of a weird problem. Just migrated some Access tables to SQL 2005 backend. This is only happening on one users machine, WinXP and Access 2003 with the linked tables to SQL 2005. When they try to run a query that has a date criteria, Access will crash. Any other type of criteria, the query works fine. Things I have tried:
1) Installing Office Service Pack 3
2) Repairing Office 2003

I initially created an Access application within Access 2003 which I subsequently migrated to SQLExpress 2005 (Tables only) using Microsoft SQL Migration Assistance for Access 2003 (SSMAA) and continue to use Access 2003 as a front end, this really was easy and worked perfect. Now I added a new table to my SQLExpress DB and need to link to it from my Access application but can not find a way to do so in the same way that the SSMAA does. I need to run the Access 2003 application in share mode from multiple PC in the LAN. If I try linking to the table using an ODBC connection I can only access from the PC where the link was done! Hi Minor and inconsequential but sometimes you just gotta know: Is it possible to define a non-primary key index within a Create Table statement? I can create a constraint and a PK. I can create the table and then add the index. SCSI disk array.Windows Enterprise 2003 x64 final release. SQL Server 2005 enterpriseCTP.Machine B: Opeteron 2.2 (248) w/ 2 CPUs. 4GB Memory. IDE Drives.Windows Server 2003 (32bit) and SQL Server 2005 (standard).I'm using Cognos' DecisionStream as the ETL tool (32bit). I have theidentical job on both machines. Machine A is slower to do my nightlybuild (1h 20m) vs. Machine B (50m).I've done no tweaking of the databases. I Used SQL 2005's studio tocopy the database from Machine B to Machine A.The only major difference is the O/S and SQL, the machines are samespeed, however Machine A has twice the memory and faster disk; so Iwould expect it to be faster.Can anyone think of smoking guns I might be missing?TIA

I guess I'm just ignorant about integrating web services with SSIS. How do I make a call to the web service through my SSIS package? (script task?)

i am inserting something into the temp table even without creating it before. But this does not give any compilation error. Only when I want to execute the stored procedure I get the error message that there is an invalid temp table. Should this not result in a compilation error rather during the execution time.?

I have SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMS Express) and SQL Server 2005 Express (SS Express) installed in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft Windows NT 4 LAN System. My Computer Administrator grants me the Administror Privilege to use my PC. I tried to use SQLQuery.sql (see the code below) to create a table "LabResults" and insert 20 data (values) into the table. I got Error Messages 102 and 156 when I did "Parse" or "Execute". This is my first time to apply the data type 'decimal' and the "VALUES" into the table. I do not know what is wrong with the 'decimal' and how to add the "VALUES": (1) Do I put the precision and scale of the decimal wrong? (2) Do I have to use "GO" after each "VALUES"? Please help and advise.

I’ve got a situation where the columns in a table we’re grabbing from a source database keep changing as we need more information from that database. As new columns are added to the source table, I would like to dynamically look for those new columns and add them to our local database’s schema if new ones exist. We’re dropping and creating our target db table each time right now based on a pre-defined known schema, but what we really want is to drop and recreate it based on a dynamic schema, and then import all of the records from the source table to ours.It looks like a starting point might be EXEC sp_columns_rowset 'tablename' and then creating some kind of dynamic SQL statement based on that. However, I'm hoping someone might have a resource that already handles this that they might be able to steer me towards.Sincerely,

But why the wizard for creating the new mining structure showed that message? Why is that? And what could I try to fix it?

I'd like to create a temporary table with the same schema as an exiting table. How can I do this without hard coding the column definitions into the temporary table definition?
I'd like to do something like:
CREATE TABLE #tempTable LIKE anotherTable
..instead of...
CREATE TABLE #tempTable (id INT PRIMARY KEY, created DATETIME NULL etc...
I'm sure there must be a simple way to do this!
