How To Customize View Of SQL Server Enterprise Manager On Startup?
Jul 23, 2005
Hi,
I've managed to get a couple of shortcuts on my desktop that log me
right into SQL Query Analyzer for whichever particular database I want
(using the isql.exe command line options). Now, I want to do a similar
customization for the SQL Server Enterprise Manager. I want to be able
to open SQL Server Enterprise Manager and have it pop me all the way
down into my particular database/tables view -> e.g. "Microsoft SQL
ServersSQL Server Group(LOCAL) (Windows
NT)DatabasesmyDatabaseName". I'm hitting a local db server...
I've tried saving new consoles (.msc files), but that just doesn't seem
to do anything. I've tried using bookmarks, also, and they just don't
do anything at all when I select them.
Any ideas??

Hi,
Is it possible to customize the report manager web site so that I can set the report output format to excel by default.
Currently, to get the excel report user has to first select the report criteria and then click the "view report" button which renders the report in HTML format and then only the export to excel option appears.
Is there a way we can get the report exported to excel in one go.
Thanks,
Rajiv

I would like to use Report Managers interface for choosing reports.
But all of the reports uses different dsu(datasourceuser) and dsp(datasourcepassword) depending on which user that is logon.
I would like to call the interface from a webapplication(where they have the current dsu & dsp).
Is there a way to customize Report Manager to save the dsu & dsp so users don't have to login for each report?
Or could I make a clever transformation from the Windows userid?
Or any other ideas??

database : MS SQL server ver 6.50.201
problem: server startup / server time out
details
SQL server shows usage of 100 % CPU utilization, if started automatically / manually. and does not proceed / hangs up(server time out), but win nt operates extremely slow.
The background of the situation in brief is as stated below.
The errorlog was found to have the messages
warning : OPEN OBJECTS parameter may be too low.
Attempt was made to free up descriptors in localdes()
Run sp_configure to increase parameter value.
Error : 644, severity : 21, state; state 1
the non clustered leaf row entry for page 2 row 1 was not found in index page 40 indexid 2 database 'tempdb'
Error : 2620 severity 21 state 3
the offset of the row number at offset 32 does not match the entry in the offset table of the follwoing page : page pointer = 0x1395800, page no= 40, status = 0x2, objectid = 1, indexid = 2
Action taken
I used the sp_option to increase the open objects from default 500 to 1000, and the LE threshold maximum value to 400 from the default 200.
after which I used reconfigure go and restarted the computer to take the effect. The following did work fine and server was working ok. But then from yesterday I am having the problem that the MS SQL sever is utilizing the cpu to 98 - 99 % and I am not able to connect to the server.
I tried to start the server with the minimal configuration by specifying the -f option in the service manager start up options, it showed the following message
00/12/07 10:40:49.73 ods Unable to connect. The maximum number of '5' configured user connections are already connected. System Administrator can configure to a higher value with sp_configure.
00/12/07 10:40:50.02 ods Unable to connect. The maximum number of '5' configured user connections are already connected. System Administrator can configure to a higher value with sp_configure.
afterwhich I tried with the option of starting the sql server with the option -c -f
which in the event detail of the win nt shows
"mesg 18109: Recovery dbid 6 ckpt(55813,8) oldest tras= (55813,0)"
The open procedure for service "MSSQLServer" in DLL "SQLCTR60.DLL" has taken longer than the established wait time to complete. The wait time in milliseconds is shown in the data.
DB-LIBRARY error - SQL Server connection timed out.
and in the errorlog present in MSSQLLOG directory

00/12/07 15:06:43.50 kernel initializing virtual device 2, D:MSSQLDATAAMLOG.DAT
The dbid is / was 6 for both the instances, the database which is having this dbid is database name "AM" and is having above 1300 tables (approx)
what could be the problem and solution for it?
kindly help me out of this situation.

We have two instances of SQL Server 2005 - SP1 installed on one server. The default instance starts very slowly. When looking at the log I can see the delay is due to Resource Manager based upon the following error.
Message
Resource Manager Creation Failed: 0x8004d102(XACT_E_DUPLICATE_GUID)
What does this mean?
What would cause this to happen?
How do I resolve the problem?
Thanks, Dave

I have 3 SSRS 2014 (Dev, UAT and Prod). I would like to change background colors of each environment and customize the title 'SQL Server Reporting Services' to ' SSRS Development'.
I prefer to implement both, a background color change and a title change. The reason for this is to clarify to end users which environment they are working with.
Where can I make those minimal changes in SSRS 2014.

I'm a newbie to Enterprise Manager so I appreciate any help.
Here's my question:
I have a SQL Server 7.0 account hosted by a webhosting company on a shared server. When I create a server registration and attempt to connect remotely to this database using Enterprise Manager, I get the following error:
Server user "john_sa' is not a valid user in database 'test123497'
The problem is that test123497 is NOT the database that they are hosting for me. I rechecked my Client Network Utility alias to make sure I'm connecting to the correct IP address and I double checked my username and password.
The server hosting this account is attempting to connect me to the wrong database. Sometimes I get through ok and other times I get the above error.
Is this because the hosting company has too many accounts on this server? Is the server running out of resources? Is there anything I can do remotely to control this?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, john.

Why does the SQL Server Enterprise Manager seem to block other processes? I am working with SQL2000 developers version with SP4. When I set up a Data transformation service, it is not actioned until I close/open the Server Enterprise Manager. Otherwise it sits there as Process id 51 Master - runnable (this is the SEM) and Process id 52 - DTS sleeping.

I am trying desparately to build a user defined function on the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 viewer and when it is performed I get the following message:
[Microsoft][ODB SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Maximum stored procedure, function, trigger, or view nesting level exceeded
Is there any problem using sql MAX() built in function? How can I resolve this issue?
The UDF code is:
CREATE FUNCTION TestFunc (@Syn int)
RETURNS int AS
BEGIN
IF @Syn IS NULL
RETURN 1
DECLARE @NewPersonID INT
SELECT @NewPersonID = MAX(PersonID)
FROM GO_Test
WHERE SynagogueID = @Syn
RETURN ISNULL(@NewPersonID + 1, 1)
END
I call the function from the 'Formula' propery of a computed field of a table like this:
([dbo].[TestFunc]([SynagogueID]))
while SynagogueID is a field on the same table.

Hello,I'm having the following dilemma: I'm trying to connect to a database on a SQL Server, somewhere else in the country. - With Server Explorer in VS.Net it is no problem at all. New dataconnection: i fill in the ip-adress, user and pass, and the database-name i want to connect to, and voila, it's done. I can add, edit, delete everything.- With enterprise manager: With enterprise manager i can make a connection with the server, but after that the database isn't visible. And as far as i know i can't connect to a certain database. Another option i tried is to create a linked server on my local server: that does work, only now i can't add/edit/delete..I really want to work with enterprise manager, but is there any way to connect to one db only, and still be able to add/edit/delete ?? I can't find the solution..Please help..Much regards..J.JansmaThe netherlands

Hi
We're having trouble with Enterprise manager when trying to view views or table data/properties, we get an access violation error and the database crashes sometimes corrupting tables.
Ive seen some posts stating a post SP3 for SQL Server is required and some posts saying client access should be modfied.
However our enterprise manager clients are registered with SA so I dont think that is an issue.
Can anyone give me some help with this and/or direct me to the hotfix please.
Cheers
Louise
