How To Disable A Warning Message ?

Jul 23, 2005

Hi,

I have a few create table statements which create temporary tables
that has row definitions which exceeds the 8060 size limit, this causes
a warning message being generated (Message 1708).

Is there a way I can disable/avoid the warning message from being
printed ?

Thanks,

joe

Is It Possible To Disable A Specific Warning ?

Nov 2, 2006

Hi!

I'm running dtexec with the /WarnAsErrors flag, to be sure to detect any configuration warning (configuration errors are actually throwed as warning, which is not sufficient) or any other important warning.

I only get one warning (0x80047076, optimisation warning). Is there a way to disable this specific warning ?

thanks

SQL 2012 :: SSDT Database Project - Cross DB Trigger Enable / Disable Gives Warning 71502

Jul 13, 2015

I have 2 dbs (SQL 2012) - one contains a trigger that is enabled/disabled by a procedure in the other database. This all works fine.

If I create a Database Project solution in Visual Studio 2012 SSDT (or 2013) for both databases, the stored procedure generates a SQL71502 stating that my trigger name can't be resolved.

To recreate the issue:

CREATE DATABASE DbWithTrigger
GO
USE DbWithTrigger
GO
CREATE TABLE dbo.TblWithTrigger(
Id int NULL,
SomeValue varchar(30) NULL

[code]....

-- Test to confirm

EXEC CrossDbTriggerCall
INSERT DbWithTrigger.dbo.TblWithTrigger VALUES(1, 'Blah blah')

In Visual Studio 2012:

1. Create a new solution with a project named DbWithTrigger
2. In project settings set the Target platform to SQL 2012
2. Import the DbWithTrigger db into this project
3. Create a new project named DbCallsTrigger
4. In project settings set the Target platform to SQL 2012
5. Import the DbCallsTrigger db into this project
6. Add a Database Reference in DbCallsTrigger for DbWithTrigger

When you build the solution both dbs build successfully, however there are two warnings. One is easily resolved by replacing DbWithTrigger in the body of the procedure with [$(DbWithTrigger)] (db variable name for the reference) but I can't find out how to get rid of the other. Is it a bug?

Warning Message 1708

Feb 25, 2004

I use VB 6.0 with ADO 2.6 to access an SQL-server.
I know that the table I wish to create generates this warning.

But from today ( without any changes to the SQL-server ) , this warning is reported as an error to the client instead of continuing.
So my error trap routine traps this as an error now.

I have a workaround that I would to avoid and that's reinstalling the SQL-server ( Only the MSSQL ).

Does anybody know a better solution.

PS : Changing the table structure is not possible in this case.

Thnx in advance,

Sven Peeters

Page File Warning Message

Jun 27, 2001

We are seeing the following error message in our SQL logs and was hoping for some advice.

"Warning: the available page file space has dropped below 4 MB"

To fix the problem we thought we should increase our paging file size for our virtual memory on the server. The recommended allocation was 3083 MB and previously we were using less than the recommended amount so we allocated 7167 MB (the max we were allowed). Do you see any problems with this or have any recommendations?

Jump To Report Warning Message

Apr 9, 2008

I'm getting the following error message

[rsNonAggregateInMatrixCell] The Value expression for the textbox €˜IMAGE_TOTAL_1€™ references a field outside an aggregate function. Value expressions in matrix cells should be aggregates, to allow for subtotaling.

the cell it is refering to is in the data area of a matrix.
The value expression is =sum(Fields!IMAGE_TOTAL.Value,"MAIN")

this cell also has a navigation set to "job to a report"

When i take out the navigation the warning messages go away.

Is there an issue with using navigation link on a textbox with an aggregate in it?

ps - everything runs fine I just get a warning message.

Is It Possible To Disable Poison Message Detection?

Aug 3, 2006

Hi,

I'm using the Service Broker to parallize my processes (I know that the Service Broker was not designed for that purpose), however it's working quite well.

I use the broker procedure to start procedures which all process all a part of the workload. When the procedure fails because of a lock timeout (or for that concern, for whatever reason), I rollback the transaction (which also roll back my message received on the queue so that it can be retried at a later time.). And this is where my problem lies, if there are 5 sequential rollbacks of messages then the poison message detection kicks in and disables the queue, stopping all the processing. :(

Is there a way to disable poison message detection? I have implemented my own stop-mechanism through a counter system on a per sub-task system so if I could disable poison message detection that would be ideal.

If this is not possible is there a way to turn the queue back on automatically so that it will continue processing the messages on the queue?

Cheers,
Peter.

SQL Server Express 2005 Warning Message In Event Log From SQL Browser Service

May 1, 2007

Hello,

I have been trying to drill down to the cause for this event log message:
"The configuration of the AdminConnectionTCP protocol in the SQL instance
SQLEXPRESS is not valid."
It is reported from the SQLBrowser service as a warning when the service
starts. I have tried starting SQLBrowser.exe with -c flag, but the output reveals no
errors. I have seen this error on three computers. Two are running SQL 2000, 2005
and Express. One was only running Express, but still this message.
I then looked into the log for the SQL Express server itself. It shows this
message on startup:
"Dedicated administrator connection support was not started because it is
not available on this edition of SQL Server. This is an informational message
only. No user action is required."
Now, it appears to me that these two messages may relate to the same
"error" (or rather behaviour by design). So, can anyone confirm that the
warning in the event log from the SQL Browser service occurs becuase of that
the SQL Express edition doesn't allow any "AdminConnection", but the SQL
Browser service isn't aware of that SQL Express edition shouldn't support that, and
reports it as a warning (implying that we can't do much about this warning)?

Thanks for any input on this issue!

Sql Server 2005 Operating System Compatibility Warning Message In System Configuration Check

Apr 3, 2007

Ok guys, I am trying to install Sql server 2005 on Vista but I am still stuck with this warning message in the System Configuration Check during Sql server 2K5 installation :

SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility (Warning)
Messages
* SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility

* Some components of this edition of SQL Server are not supported on this operating system. For details, see 'Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2005' in Microsoft SQL Server Books Online.

Now, I know I need to install SP2 but how the hell I am going to install SP2 if Sql server 2005 doesn't install any of the components including Sql server Database services, Analysus services, Reporting integration services( only the workstation component is available for installation)?

Any work around for this issue?

P.S.: I didn't install VS.NET 2005 yet, can this solve the problem?

Thanks.

Can't Find Or Load Message DLL. Message DLL Must Be In Path Or In Current Directory.

Jul 23, 2007

In my SQL Server, I see the below message in the Application Event Viewer

"18265 :

When I save the application event viewer and open it in another server, I do not see the above message, instead I get the following message:

" Can't find or load message DLL. Message DLL must be in path or in current directory."

Any thoughts to overcome this problem is appreciated.

Message Type And Message Body..............

Nov 17, 2006

Hello,

I am having trouble specifying a message body that is valid. I mean for the client to send. If I leave it as null then everything is ok but if I create a memorystream and add a line of text it reports back it did not pass validation. I do not understand this and am not sure what to do. I need to send a message based on a code and text but do not know the format of the body that is allowed. The code I am refering to comes out of HelloWord_CLR because that is what I am formating my sample after. I call it the same way it calls the return message done in ServiceProc. I need to know the message format including body since this does not seem to work. A sample of the call is bellow.

// Create an empty request message

string Msg = "Hello";

MemoryStream body = new MemoryStream(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(Msg));

Message request = new Message("Request", body);

Thanks,

Scott Allison...

I have checked on MSDN and they do not list that character as one to avoid. I did find in the books online documentation that the ^ performs a bitwise exclusive OR operation....has anyone tested using ^ as part of a password to authenticate to a SQL db?

Should This Be An Error Rather Than A Warning?

May 25, 2006

If you have a package that uses an environment variable for an indirect configuration and the environment variable is not present when the package runs you get the following warning:

The configuration environment variable was not found.  The environment variable was: "Seer.ConnectionManager.CUECommonReference". This occurs when a package specifies an environment variable for a configuration setting but it cannot be found. Check the configurations collection in the package and verify that the specified environment variable is available and valid.

IMO, if the package is expecting to find something and cannot find it then it should cause an error, not a warning. I'm happy for people to disagree tho :)

Any comments???

Truncation Warning

May 24, 2007

Hello,

I'm having a problem with one of my packages due to a truncation warning that I can't get rid of. It's not the end of the world, because the package still works. It's just extremely frustrating.

The problem arises in a derived column item in a data flow task. There is a postcode field in the data flow which has space for 20 characters. I create a derived column from this which simply removes any spaces:

Derived Column Name: Postcode

Derived Column: Replace 'Postcode'

Expression: REPLACE(" ",Postcode,"")

Data Type: string [DT_STR]

Length: 20

Code Page: 1252 (ANSI - Latin I)

However when I use this expression, or anything else which uses the replace function, I end up with the warning message:

Warning 1 Validation warning. Create Staging Tables: Derived Column [20555]: The result string for expression "REPLACE(" ",Postcode,"")" may be truncated if it exceeds the maximum length of 4000 characters. The expression could have a result value that exceeds the maximum size of a DT_WSTR.

I have tried everything I can think of to get rid of the warning. Is there some way I can use the replace function, but not have the system convinced that I'm about to go over the maximum size limit?

Many thanks

Task Engine Warning

May 20, 1999

I'm running SQL Server 6.5, with the latest Service pack on NT 4.0 with SP4. A couple of days ago I started getting a warning message in my event log right after a scheduled task ran. The scheduled task calls three stored procedures (data dumps for master, msdb, and a production database) it also runs a consistency check on each before dumping them. I can interactively run each stored procedure and get NO error messages. Prior to getting the warning message (which occurs after the scheduled task runs) I get normal informational entries that the dumps occurred without a problem and the files are written to the proper area. The error is in the Task Engine category and are Warning type messages. Here is the text:

SQL Server Scheduled Task: 27, 'Proddata Dump' -- Status: Failed
-- Task Invoked on: 5/20/99 5:00:00 AM -- Message: Database 'ASSMTCTRPROD' (116647 pages) dumped to file <1> on device 'D:DATDUMPASSMTCTRPROD_990520_DATA.DMP'. (Message 4035)

Any help that anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

SQL Server Agent Warning

IIS Warning On SQL 2005 X64 Install

Nov 30, 2007

While intalling SQL 2005 on an x64 machine, I got an error message that warned that some functions of SQL would not install unless IIS was installed (and enabled) on the machine. It did not say what would not install, but I gather it is Reporting Services. I don't recall getting these warnings in previous (32 bit) installations of SQL 2005.

On the other hand, when I go into the BI Intelligence Studio on
a (32 bit) server that does not have IIS, I seem to be able to create
a report anyway (Not really my area of expertise ). Does that mean that Report Services is working without IIS?
