I know that each of those product_codes will return a large data set. What I'd like to do is to run the same query but constrain the result set to a max rownum of 200.

Now when I attempt to do this...
ALTER TABLE tm_spn_equip_def DROP COLUMN Customer_No
I get an error:
Msg 5074, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The object 'DF__tm_spn_eq__Custo__019E3B86' is dependent on column 'Customer_No'.
Msg 4922, Level 16, State 9, Line 1
ALTER TABLE DROP COLUMN Customer_No failed because one or more objects access this column.
How can I get around this?

I need to change a column's datatype from tinyint to int as follows:
alter table tableName
alter column column1 int
but with error <<'DF__LandMarks__color__6A50C1DA' is depending on it.>>
However, this old default is not part of the constraint. Thus, the only way is to delete it from sysobjects.
unfortunately, the following code I have to commented since they could only be executed line by line, not within a begin...end block.
--exec master.dbo.sp_configure 'allow updates', 1
--reconfigure with override
--delete from sysobjects
-- where name = 'DF__LandMarks__color__6A50C1DA'

I have looked INFORMATION_SCHEMA related views, but not found default related, maybe I missed something.

How To Default Drop Down List To A Specific Value In Database
Oct 21, 2014I have a drop down list that is populated by a stored procedure which has two int parameters (ID, STATUS). I need to default the drop down list to a value in the database that is associated to the ID & STATUS parameters.
The problem I am having is that it only works if the selected value is the first record on the drop down list. for any other records (outside the first record) from the drop down list i get "The 'SelectedIndex' and 'SelectedValue' attributes are mutually exclusive."
Here is the stored procedure I am using to populate the drop down list:

Foreign Key CONSTRAIN above is created by adding both tables to the diagram and defining relationship between these two tables FS_Username field, where 'Enable relationship for INSERT and UPDATE' option is turned ON. You can easily see this if you create diagram youself and insert these two tables in it.
Next to this, I created two triggers that should handle inserting/deleting rows in UserRights table as consequence of inserting/deleting rows in Users table:

Insert Into Users (FS_Username, FS_Password) VALUES ('John', 's')
Delete from Users
... first command will succede, but second one will fail with message:
DELETE statement conflicted with COLUMN REFERENCE constraint 'FK_UserRights_Users'. The conflict occurred in database 'Office', table 'UserRights', column 'FS_Username'.
The statement has been terminated.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem without loosing constrains and triggers ? (If I turn off 'Enable relationship for INSERT and UPDATE' option for relationship, things will work fine, but than I can make inconsistent data in UserRights table).

I have created a package and if a data flow task(flat file to DB) fails, the file has to be moved to archive folder. How I have accomplished this is Dataflow task->precedence constrain failed(red arrow)->execute process task to move the file to error folder and it worked,The same execute process task( to move the file to error folder) doesnot work when I move this to on-error event handler. Also, for the same file the on-error event is getting triggered multiple times.

Aug 23, 2000I have a query which joins multiple tables. This query has suddenly begun to take up to 2 minutes to run (vs. 5-10 seconds previously).
No major change in number of records in the tables (currently about 220,000). When I remove the PK from one of the tables which then forces a tablescan, the query returns to running in 5-10 seconds. If I add the PK back, performance is back to 2 minutes.
Any suggestions short and/or long term?

May 11, 2007We are running MS RS and SQL Server 2000 SP3.
We have one LEDGER, where all the daily activities are stored. The LEDGER table has 4 indexes (1 clustered and 3 non-clustered). To get AR we use this table.
Well problem is some times in 1-2 months, any simple AR query takes a long time and every other client gets slow response (queries are very slow or sometimes block).
If we DROP any index on LEDGER table and again put it back (RECREATE), all our queries work fine and faster. This goes on till 1-2 months, till we see the same issue again.
This is a classic case happened today. Queries were running fine till morning 8 AM. We upload some 50 thousand records to Ledger table (Data Conversion). Well after 30 mins, all simple AR queries started taking a long time. We DROPPED an index in LEDGER table and everything was faster....Just to be same we added back the same index again.......everything is Faster.....
What is this. ....is it our QUERY, index or huge Transactions or no free space ???
We are scheduled to run SP4, next week. But is there any solution in the mean time on what is this?
Also is they any way to KILL all SQL server processes that take more than a mins. We just don't want ALL our client to Slow down because of one query????

Mar 21, 2008I am trying to query my records using a text field. However, I want my results to be all when there the text field is blank. Currently I have 257134 records but when I use my code, it is only showing 237423 records. Here is my code:

Any ideas as to what wildcard to use to show NULL and Not NULL records?

I am trying to write a query that seaches for all DEFAULT constraints in a database and prints the column with the default value, the value of the default, and the name of the default constraint.
So far I have the two queries that let me get all the information I need.
SELECT Name FROM sysobjects
WHERE xtype = 'D'
SELECT column_default, column_name FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS
WHERE column_default IS NOT Null
I am unable to merge them into one query. I cannot seem to find a commun field to both of them.

Jan 12, 2005i have a table and a column called req_id, i have it set as the primary key.. so if i just do SELECT * FROM table, shouldnt the rows returned be sorted by the order that the rows were inserted?
this database was improted from an access database.. when i did that in access it would return the rows in sorted order by the order the row was inserted.. but now in MS SQL, its not sorted in that order.. i can't really tell what type of order it's in

When I see table rows through enterprise manager the date field looks like 3/18/2008 12:30:00 PM
Whereas when I run a query a query in Query Analyser/or through any other application the date is shown in a different format: 2008-03-18 12:30:00.000
Is there a setting in SQL Server that can remove the date format inconsistency?

Scenario:
1. Open SSMS
2. Create new query
3. Click Save
I see "DocumentsSQL Server Management Studio" folder, but I want to change it to be "d:". How do I do this?
I tried:
1. [URL]- in folder "DocumentsSQL Server Management StudioSettingsSQL Server Management Studio" there is a file NewSettings.vssettings, setting it to "d:" or "d:" didn't work.
2. Changing HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server100ToolsShell VisualStudioProjectsLocation didn't work too. There is no "Shell" under "110Tools"
Did I do something wrong, or is there another way?
Need To Display Results Of A Query, Then Use A Drop Down List To Filter The Results.
Feb 12, 2008Hello. I currently have a website that has a table on one webpage. When a record is clicked, the primary key of that record is transfered in the query string to another page and fed into an sql statement. In this case its selecting a project on the first page, and displaying all the scripts for that project on another page. I also have an additional dropdownlist on the second page that i use to filter the scripts by an attribute called 'testdomain'. At present this works to an extent. When i click a project, i am navigated to the scripts page which is empty except for the dropdownlist. i then select a 'testdomain' from the dropdownlist and the page populates with scripts (formview) for the particular test domain. what i would like is for all the scripts to be displayed using the formview in the first instance when the user arrives at the second page. from there, they can then filter the scripts using the dropdownlist.
My current SQL statement is as follows.
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [TestScript] WHERE (([ProjectID] = @ProjectID) AND ([TestDomain] = @TestDomain))"
So what is happening is when testdomain = a null value, it does not select any scripts. Is there a way i can achieve the behaivour of the page as i outlined above? Any help would be appreciated.

Date Picker Bug - Drops The Default Value And Displays Default Value As Todays Date

Hi,
Does anyone have a workaround or know of a fix to this problem:
Default value set to 'date pick' from date currently within field by setting value equal to that field . ie if date is 01/01/2010 date picker opens in Jan 2010 - works ok.
However, once published to Sharepoint and run through browser the Date Picker ignores the default value and the date picker opens for today. ie April 2008.

Up to my knowldge if you start a transaction in side the transaction if you have DML statements
Those statements only will be effected by rollback or commit but in MS SQL SERVER 7.0 and 6.5
It is rolling back all the commands including DDL witch it shouldn't please let me know on that

then execute bellow statements
select * from t1
this query gives you table with out data
select * from t2
you will recieve an error that there is no object
but if you rollback
T1 willn't be there in the database
droped table t2 will come back please explain how it can happand.....................

Problem is, this returns a value, when written to binary, it's one bit too long!
ex:

(= 62)
which should be:

0
(=31)
How can I "drop" this last BIT?
(Keep in mind that I store these values as LONGINT's)...

Drop FK Constraints

Wonder if I'm onto something....everything I've read says that to drop foreign key constraints, you have to drop/recreate the table.
I've been able to dynamically create the ALTER TABLE statements for all FK constraints in a database. The way I did was a little convoluted (Access 97 linked tables and pass-through queries, cut/paste from the debug window to SQL7 QA), but it does work. More importantly, it saves the hassle of dropping/recreating tables....Someone with more expertise than I in using nested cursors could probably convert it to pure T-SQL pretty easily.
Just curious...opinions? Be glad to post the code here if that's appropriate.
