All,
Is there any way we can export the SQL Query result into an excel sheet, i tried the options 'results to grid, results to file' but nothing seems working.
I have a predefined excel sheet template.I want to create excel sheet report by exporting data from sql server tables into this excel sheet template.
This package i will be calling from C#.net windows form application.
I want to know is this is possible through Sql server integration service (SSIS) ?
Thanks,
Sumit
This seems to happen when the report is not 8.5 x 11 portrait. Any other size or orientation will cause it to put the column on the last page.
Does anyone know why?
Am not able to export more than 10 lakh records to excel sheet(2007 xlsx). I'll get sucess message but all data will not get copy to excel sheet .I have tried through import wizard in sql server and also directly copy and paste to excel sheet.

Hello;
There is any way to put a name to each sheet when using Render Format to Excel file?
Thanks
Luis
I am wondering if anyone knows how to change the sheet names in Excel when exporting a report from Reporting Services 2005. In other words, I have a report with approximately 5 page breaks built in. When I render the report to Excel, it creates the 5 sheets as I expect, but it names them "Sheet1", "Sheet2", "Sheet3" etc... Is there a way to specify the name of the sheets? I am currently using a different table in my report for each sheet, but I am open to structuring this differently if needed.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHi everybody,
I'm quite new in Reporting Services and have the following problem:
I created a report which is getting its data from 5 different databases. For every database I made a subreport to get the data. In the preview and on the Reporting Server all the data is displayed find. Now I want to export the report to an Excel sheet which does work. But where the data from the subreports is to be shown it just says that subreports in table-cells has been ignored.
Another problem is that the way the report looks in the preview is fine - on the reporting server the columns are far to wide. I allready marked that the width should be fixed.
Some more information: in the main report some cells are merged. In these merged cells is the data from the subreport to be shown. The subreport displays the data in a table which has exact the same amount of colums (and the same size) the cells in the main report had before merging.
Thanks in advance,
Steph
Is there any way in which i can carry or retain the tooltip value which is shown on my report into Excel sheet ....

Using below script to export the select statement result to .xls
declare @sql varchar(8000)
select @sql = 'bcp "select * from Databases..Table" queryout c:bcpTom.xls -c -t, -T -S' + @@servername
exec master..xp_cmdshell @sql
But result is not exporting in seperate tabs, all 4 column details are exporting in single cell.
how to export the data in columns to separate tabs in excel.
I've built a fairly straight forward report in RS that looks normal in preview mode and in PDF format with out any issues. But when I export it to Excel report header is not appearing in each page.Any ideas as to why this is occurring?thanks in advance,Ramesh KS

My table has a Group for order my dates.
I need to have the intere table in the same page, i don't care about blank space at the end of the page.

I have tested.. every page break..you'll have a different sheet in your excel export
I need something like this

I have report which has 5 columns. User want to export report file in Excel format. when exported report then by default 2 columns will be hidden in excel and user can unhide columns after export in excel.I did column hide on report level and show in result set in excel sheet by using Global render format.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open the spreadsheet in Excel 2000, it works fine. When I try to print, it crashes Excel. In testing, I narrowed it down to the Header/Footer, because it also crashes when I go to Page Setup and click on the header/footer tab.
However, I can print the same spreasheet from Excel 2007.
Am I just dealing with a "you need to upgrade all your clients" situation, or is there a known issue with certian formatting that is passed out with reports that is not supported by older versions of Excel?
I am using Reporting Services 2005 SP2 to serve up the report that is exported to Excel.
Any assistance is appreciated.
I have a ssrs report having 2 tables in with 4 columns in each. When I go to export option in preview I can see all data coming in one excel sheet, But I am trying to get 2 tables in 2 different pages in Excel when I export.First page of excel comes with first table data with 4 columns and second page of excel comes with second table data with 4 columns .
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan someone tell me if this is possible?
I would like the parameter values used in the SSRS report to be exported to Excel.
I thought the following would work:
1. Create a table displaying parameter values
2. Set visibility of the table to be Hidden = True (I don't want the values to appear on the SSRS report since it is just repeating the same information in the parameters pane)
3. Select Table >> Properties >> Data Output. Set Element output to yes.
The result is that a big white space is rendered in the report for the table which looks awful. I was hoping that the visibility property would work in the same way as the 'Suppress' option in Crystal Reports and also hide the white space.
Also when the report is exported to Excel, the table values do not exist but the white space also shows. I thought setting the Data Output property on the table would show the table values.
Any ideas on where I am going wrong or is there another way to achieve this?
Hi,

Hello
I have a requirement where the end-user's preferred solution is to export report results from Reporting Services into a spreadsheet so that the user can run a series of Excel macros on the resulting data. This is only going to serve as a quick fix until we develop a longer term solution.
My question is: is there a way to export report results from RS to an existing spreadsheet or spreadsheet template that has the macro code in it, and perhaps even initiate the macro. I would like to avoid the user having to cut and paste from the report spreadsheet to the spreadsheet with the macro in it -- reduce human error.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
I am trying to get the contents of the Excel Files dynamically and dumping into the SQL Database using SSIS. Through WMI Event Watcher, I could find when one or more Excel files dumped in a particular folder and using ForEach Loop Container I was able to take all the filenames and pass it through Variables. But at the same time in the Data Flow, I have to pass each Sheet of an Excel File to the Excel Source control and export the data to my SQL Database using OLEDB Destination.
For that I need to get the names of each sheets in an Excel File and pass it to the Excel Source Control through variables. But when I give Data Access Mode as "Table name or view name variable" and provide the variable name in that, then it is giving an error message as "A destination table name has not been provided".
And at the same time, Since I was not able to provide an static Filename (as I am passing through Variables), when I tried to map the columns in the OleDB Destination, it is not allowing me to map the columns.
So all these things I should do at Run-time using Variables in SSIS. I don't want to hard-code any filenames or Sheet names. If any one of you have a solution, please share with me.
Thanks & Regards,

I'm not sure if this can be done. There are some threads that say yes and some that say no.
If my report's detail section is hidden unless toggled by group2 is there a way to retain the collapsed entries as collapsed when the report is exp[orted to excel?
Right now when I export to excel the report is all expanded. An export to pdf looks fine but I need to in excel.
I tried this and I must have done something wrong cause it did not work.

My orginal report rows are:
Table header
Group1
group2
Details
In details I have the visibilty as hidden, toggle item as group2_item.
I did try creating group3 and set it as the the above thread said.
I'm operating SSRS2000 with SP4.
Hi,
I have created a report in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. After I export it to Excel format, if I try to print it (Hardcopy), my Excel crashes. It shows an error and shut down. I'm using Excel 2000. It even shows me same error when I click on "Print Preview", in Excel.
Everytime I try to print the excel worksheet, a window pops up with the heading "Visual Studio Just-in-Time Debugger". The error is: "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in EXCEL.EXE [3460]".
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I need to export a report created in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services to one allready existing Excel workbook document. The report is deployed, so it is the deployed report I want to export. As I can see, the option are just to export to different formats, but not to a specific document
Is there an option in Reporting services that can allow me that ? Thanks.
Hi,
I have two RDL files, one is main.rdl, the other one is sub.rdl.
In the body of main.rdl, I threw in a subreport that links to sub.rdl. Follow by the subreport is a table, in which has a textbox called mytitle. In the page footer, I added one text box that references to mytitle by using ReportItems!mytitle.Value.
When this report rendered in HTML or PDF format, it worked fine. However, when exporting to excel format, it failed. I figured it is because there isn't a ReportItem in the subreport called mytitle. I tried adding a dummy textbox into the subreport and called it mytitle, but again, no luck.
Did anyone ever encounter the same problem? Is there a work around way?
Thanks,

Hi All,
I have created a Report using Sql Server 2005 Reporting Services. It's a matrix report. When I try to download the report to excel, it gives me the message "
Data Regions within table/matrix cells are ignored.
" in the top left hand side header.
Any pointers on how to resolve it.
Thanks,

I have ssis package where I have excel connection manager with expression pointing to a variable which has path for location and name of excel spreadsheet to be create each with date on the name.ExcelFilePath points to variable for shared location where excel file will be saved.I have File system task for copying template excel file to destination location with date in file name.I drag and drop excel destination. Pointed to excel connection manager. Under data access mode, I have select table and view. When I try to select name of excel sheet, it says, no tables or views could be loaded. I should be able to see sheetname there so that I can map column. I only have option to create new spreadsheet. I want to use template to load data in excel file. I dont want to create new sheet. It was working before. But I opened the ssis package and its broken. I was able to see spreadsheet name before but I dont see it now even though I have not made any change to package.
