How to find current row number in MS SQL 2000 server DB ?
like in oracle rowid is there to get unique no. of each row.
I want to track the last row in the resultset ..
is any fun for this ??
I am trying to get the current row number using this:
SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY QUANTITY) FROM RDR1 WHERE Row = CurrentRow
However i got error message says row is an invalid column name.
How do you find out the current number of connections to a SQL Server 2005 instance in SQL Server Managment Studio? I need to see if my number of connections is exceeding my Maximum Worker Threads.

I have a Serial No which has a length as 14.For eg IL010730123456. IL01 is The Default Code. 07 is the current year and 30 is the week of the year. 123456 is Serial. How shoud I find The Year and week with the help of this serial no ie The First day of the 30th week of 2007.Is it Possible?

I need a stored procedure to find out if the current user is a member of a certain role. I want to pass the role name and return a bit to tell whether he is a member or not. I have this code to list the groups the current user is a member of but I don't know how to search or do a "SELECT FROM" on the results.DECLARE @usr varchar(32) SET @usr = USER EXEC sp_helpuser @usr But if the current user is a member of more than one role it returns multiple rows. What i need to find is items and datediff from current date to created date with respect to wait area. You will get more clear with example
For Eg. For items 1 the wait area changes from A1 to A2 at
2011-10-16 and remains A2 so i need to find the date differeence from
today date to 2011-10-16
For item 2 that wait area remains same for entire period that is
A2 so datediff from today date to 2011-10-19(last created date of that item)
For item 3 that wait area A2 then it becomes A3 then becomes A1
so need datediff from today to 2012-01-20
For item 4 that wait area A2 remains for the entire period
so need datediff from today-2012-01-21

I want to find the first free number from first column.
Now It should return 3.
After inserting a row with col1 = 3 it should return 6 and after inserting a row with col1 = 6 it should return 8.
Is it posible ?
I have a part number field which contains whole numbers. (1 - 5000+) however there are gaps in the numbers e.g. Part Number 3876 maybe missing. The table has new parts inserted from a VB Client. Im trying to write a stored procedure where when a user trys to run an update without entering a part number the first missing part number is found. If they do provide a part number then their number is committed as long as it is unique. I've tried using cursors but am not sure on the best approach. Any suggestions?
