how to generate reports in sql server
Hi all,
Is it possible to generate mulitple reports from parameter? what I want is for example: I have a report with a sales orders table, it has 2 input parameter fields; two dates to make up a date range. If the date range is between yesterday and today, I will get two reports (two reports with two different total page number); one is for yesterday and one is for today.
I did some research on resetting the total page, but their solution doesnt work on my special case (very complicate..). A similiar work out also apperciate.
Regards,
Bryan
Is this possible?, i hope it is:). Your help is very much appreciated.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for some examples of code for an appliction which will let run RS reports from a custom application. The user will choose the reports from a menu structure
We have an exiting application which we use to run crystal reports which we are going to be migrating to RS. We use custom web controls to capture the required parameter values for the reports, and hope to reuse the same controls (with minimal rework) to capture the parameters values for the RS reports.
What I am after is some code which will
a) let me run the report and display it. I don't want to display the report parameters in the URL etc as we generate some report parameter values based upon the user's ID and do NOT want them displayed back to the users
b) export the report to PDF, CSV etc depending upon the option chosen by the user.
The application will be developed in VS 2005 - VB. Does any one know of some links to some sample code
Hello there,
Im alittle stuck
what im trying to find out is:
MS SQL 2000
1. How to Generate Reports from selected Database information
2. then email that report weekly.
Ive heard about Visual Studio .NET 2003: Business Intelligence Projects
but is there away to create the reports directly in Enterprise manager?
any pointers would be great
I am using SS 2005 RS. I am able to generate single page pdf reports by passing "id" as a parameter. Now I need to send multiple ids as parameter and generate one big report which would contain reports for all the ids supplied on separate pages. Is this possible? If yes, then how do i do this.
What I have tried so far is, I created new report with a list control and added single page report as a subreport to this list control and grouped this list control using id parameter. When i send multiple ids in the parameter, for example 3 ids, it generates 3 page report but only for the first id. So it generates report for the first id and repeats same report 3 times.
Thanks for your help,
Hi All,
Can we render a report directly on to a mobile device/ interface from SSRS?
Hi
I am generating a Report by using SSRS. I am making using use of SSRS Report Viewer control for displaying the report. Which has an option to export the generated report in PDF format. Instead of displaying the report in by using report viewer I want to generate it directly in PDF format whenever that report is selected from the list of reports. So is there is any way to generate the report directly in PDF format which prompt a pop up for opening or saving the PDF?
Thanks,
Shailesh
I'd like to know more about data warehouse. I've known some for SSIS working with SSAS. But it's existing data warehouse. I just transfer data to data warehouse using bussiness rules. I have no idea about data warehouse, how to design data warehouse from transactional database, how to generate the table structure. Any tips or books for that? Thank you very much.

I have generated a ssis package that creates a text file based on a query retrieving records from the table.
Now i want the file name to be appended with the date and time of package execution. So the filename will be something like ; Filename_MMDDYYYY.txt.
How can i do this with the help of SSIS?
Anyone having an idea would be of great help.

Hello all,
I'm new to SSIS and have a question about the best way to generate multiple Excel files with my current package design. I have a stored procedure that I run from an Execute SQL Task in a foreach loop container, and it generates results as appropriate for each of the parameters it loops through.
What's the best way to take the result set from each of those executions and generate an Excel file from each set? How do I map that result set variable to be the input for creating a new Excel file? Is this best done as a script task somehow?
Should I not be using SSIS for this task? I thought I would just create a package and schedule it to run daily with SQL Agent, and it would autogenerate the Excel files as needed.
Thanks for your advice!
I am trying to write a SSIS package to auto generate a SSRS PDF. I have tried several threads on the net but all seem to require a web service.I am using VS2012 and SQL2014..The report accepts one parameter @Licence

I am using a Data Flow task which copies data from an Excel Source to a SQL Database Table Destination. From 15 columns I require only 10 columns to be imported to the DB Table. So I have mapped those colums. In SQL DB there is a colum called say X, whose value should be the "Remedy" for all the columns which are imported. Is there any task that can achieve it.
Please Help.
I have a requirement, want to generate the PDF report from source data sql table records through SSIS package without using the SSRS tool. i came to know calling this SSRS report generate the PDF report. but my case without using the SSRS tool, needs to prepare the PDF report.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a report using SSRS 2012. To create a pdf report, I use SSIS 2008. When I run debugging in SSIS, the pdf report is generated correctly.
But when I run the SSIS as a job in SQL 2012, the pdf report is generated with o bytes. When I tried to open it with Adobe, there is error, something like - Adobe Reader could not open PPAA.pdf because it is either not supported file type or because the file has been damaged.
I have a report that I'd like to involve in delivering tons of PDFs for each of our customers for a billing cycle. There is a table that the report reads from that gives it all its data necessary for the report (which is a customer bill) and the table also has a column that has the file name for the PDF for that particular customers bill for the report. Basically each table row represents one output report (bill) and each table row has its name nicely formated for me. Writing the report is not a problem. Figuring out how to run through thousands of rows generating a PDF for each with the file name from the table is my challenge.
I would like to create either a SP or a SSIS package (that is scheduled) that can run a report for each line of data in my table and spit out a PDF file to a UNC path. It might have to generate thousands of PDFs to a UNC path that has plenty of space. There will be another SSIS package that moves the PDFs later to their proper directory.
So, is there someone who has done this before? Any suggestions? Is there a quick path to doing this, would it take a ton of time? Any tutorials out there?
Thanks,
Keith
p.s. My preference is to do this in SP's or SSIS and if I need a .NET language to do that in VB.NET, but I'd rather avoid that if I can.
I want to export the data into multiple sheets with same template, all the worksheets have to split dynamically with specific Sheet Name and template also copied to all other sheets
For Example:
Sheet Name: Guru
Name Age
Guru 24
Sheet Name: Johnson
Name Age
Johnson 32
it goes on......
How can I setup an SSIS package so that it will generate a report and email (html version) everytime upon completing/populating my datareaderdest?

I want to be able to create an Excel report in SSIS after querying the data from a SQLSERVER table.
I have a IS package where I'm loading all the data required in the report and the final step of the IS package I would like to build the reports. I think it makes sense to take this approach instead of setting up a RSS package.
AS anyone seen any Blogs which explains such a flow?
How do I grant a regular user or group the same rights to view the SSIS execution reports as say the sysadmin role?
I need to figure out how to give users the visibility of those reports without actually granting sysadmin.
I have a SSISpackage which have 10 execute sql tasks, which loads data into the 10 tabales. Using these 10 tables, I load data into 2 tables. These 2 tables are using to generate reports using SSRS. So we have creatad SSRS package which will generate report. So here what we are doing is we are loading data into those (10+2) tables. then running that report manually and sending that created excel report manully. Can we achieve this using SSIS only, so once data loaded into those 2 reporting table it will start generating reports. How do we achieve using SSRS?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working with the IT department at a client site trying to hook into Oracle. We are using Windows Server 2003 64-bit, SQL Server 2005 Standard 64-bit, Oracle 10-g 64-bit and Linux Red Hat 64-bit. All service packs are current.
We are working on a data warehouse project where we need to import Oracle information periodically throughout the day and integrate it in a central location with data already residing in SQL Server. This is the first time I have tried to pull data from Oracle. The databases in Oracle and SQL Server that we are pulling data from are third party application databases.
My client cannot connect to Oracle using Crystal ODBC connections. When we use either the .NETor OLEDB connections, we get the "client tools need to be installed" message. We do have the client tools installed on the WIndows Server that SQL Server is installed on. We can connect to Oracle from this locattion using Aqua Data Studio and SQL *PLUS. I checked and there is only one tnsnames.ora file on the server. I used the name from there to try to connect using SSIS. Still no luck.
I did see somewhere that there is a possible issue with 64-bit installations. We really need to get this connection working.
Thanks!

I have an SSIS Package that executes a stored procedure. It turns out my stored procedure was missing.
However, the SQL Job Scheduler reported that step as success.
Can anyone tell me why?

While within SQL Server 2008R2/Visual Studio 2008, I created SSIS project that involves, among the rest, Script Components.... Nowadays, we moved towards SQL Server 2014 and Visual Studio 2013...Our further development of SSIS project is stacked at Script Component errors....like depicted in attachment. As synopsis of steps that we used to undertook, was drag/drop Script Component, Transformation, Add Web Service as [URL] ...., Resolve in order to set up correct Using statement....But, if we try to BUILD, it pop ups errors beneath... How to escape i.e., how to build it now in SQL Server 2014 and Visual Studio 2013?

I wanted to propose an offshoot to the pryor thread:
Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports,
Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting
or presentation of the end report product?

I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report.
I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log
to know the frequency of each report being used.
Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend?
How can I acheive this?
I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info.
I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.
Any help is appreciated

"SSIS 2012 Catalog doesn't have option to give read access to SSIS Catalog to view package run reports" ... Any luck allowing power developers / operators access to READ the SQL 2012 SSIS Execution Reports without granting them SSIS_Admin or Sysadmin?
According to this link posted back in 2011 (w/ Microsoft's feedback in Nov 2011: "We’re closing this issue as “Won’t Fix.” At this point the bug does not meet our bar for resolving prior to SQL Server 2012 RTM. As we approach the SQL Server 2012 release the bar for making code changes gets progressively higher." URL....Regarding Permissions to SSIS Catalog, here are the findings. We can give access in three ways:
1. READ Access – We can provide a user db_datareader access. With this the user can see the objects within the SSIS catalog database, but cannot see the reports.
2. SSIS_ADMIN – Add the user to this database role in SSISDB. With this the user can view the reports. But it also provides them privileges to modify catalog information which is not expected. We can add it using below script EXEC sp_addrolemember 'ssis_admin' , 'REDMONDPAIntelAnalyst'
3. SYSADMIN - Add the user to this server role. This will make the user an admin on the SQL server. This is not intended. Is there any method available which will have provision to give read only access to see SSIS Catalog package execution reports and not having modify Catalog access.
