How To Group This Table??

Jan 21, 2007

Hi guys

I need to aggregate a table to three different levels but I need the results in a single table. Here is the sample data

IndicatorName
DHBName
PHOName
Practice
PracticeName
Numerator
Denominator

ABC
SAM
a
PracticeA
QW
22500
22.5

BNN
SAM
b
PracticeB
SSS
22500
22.5

dddd
JONES
c
PracticeC
FFFF
22500
45

ssss
Alter
d
PracticeZ
QW
22500
22.5

rrrr
Sam
a
PracticeA
FFFF
52500
60

ABC
GINI
b
PracticeA
ASDFF
45000
45

BNN
Hoe
c
PracticeD
Tahunanui Medical Centre
45000
15

Now I need to group this table first on the dhb level:

Query used
SELECT IndicatorName, DHBName,sum( Num),sum( Den)
FROM DHBLevel
GROUP BY IndicatorName, DHBName

Then group on PHO Level

SELECT IndicatorName, DHBName, phoname,SUM(Num) AS Expr1, SUM(Den) AS Expr2
FROM DHBLevel
GROUP BY IndicatorName, DHBName,phoname

Then on Practice Level

SELECT IndicatorName, DHBName, phoname,practicename,SUM(Num) AS Expr1, SUM(Den) AS Expr2
FROM DHBLevel
GROUP BY IndicatorName, DHBName,phoname,practicename.

Now I need to see the aggregates in 1 single table only.

How shall i do this??

Here is the create table script

USE [PhoTest]

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[performanceOctober](

[IndicatorName] [nvarchar](255) COLLATE Latin1_General_CI_AS NULL,

[DHBName] [nvarchar](255) COLLATE Latin1_General_CI_AS NULL,

[PHOName] [nvarchar](255) COLLATE Latin1_General_CI_AS NULL,

[PracticeName] [nvarchar](255) COLLATE Latin1_General_CI_AS NULL,

[Numerator] [float] NULL,

[Denominator] [float] NULL

Reporting Services :: Display Group Name Value Of Each Group In Column Header Outside The Group?

Sep 29, 2015

I have an SSRS 2012 table report with groups; each group is broken ie. one group for one page, and there are multiple groups in multiple pages.

'GroupName' column has multiple values - X,Y,Z,......

I need to group 'GroupName' with X,Y,Z,..... ie value X in page 1,value Y in page 2, value Z in page 3...

Now, I need to display another column (ABC) in this table report (outside the group column 'GroupName'); this outside column itself is another column header (not a group header) in the table (report) and it derives its name partly from the 'GroupName'  values:

Example:

Value X for GroupName in page 1 will mean, in page 1, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-X Value Y for GroupName in page 2 will mean, in page 2, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-Y Value Z for GroupName in page 3 will mean, in page 3, column Name of
ABC column must be ABC-Z

ie the column name of ABC (Clm ABC)  must be dynamic as per the GroupName values (X,Y,Z....)

Page1:

GroupName                 Clm ABC-X

X

Page2:

GroupName                 Clm ABC-Y

Y

Page3:

GroupName                 Clm ABC-Z

Z

I have been able to use First(ReportItems!GroupName.Value) in the Page Header to get GroupNames displayed in each page; I get X in page 1, Y in page 2, Z in page 3.....

However, when I use ReportItems (that refers to a group name) in the Report Body outside the group,

I get the following error:

Report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope

I need to get the X, Y, Z ... in each page for the column ABC.

I have been able to use this - First(Fields!GroupName.Value); however, I get ABC-X, ABC-X, ABC-X in each of the pages for the ABC column, instead of ABC-X in page 1, ABC-Y in page 2, ABC-Z in page 3, ...

Hello everyone,Small and (I think) very simple quesiton;-) which makes me creazy.Let's say I have two tables listed below:T1====IDX====134T2===============IDD fk_IDX===============A1A2A4B1B3B4C4D1D2D3D4I would like to select from table T2 all distinct records IDD whichhave all of fk_IDX containded in T1.The select statement should return in this case ONLY:B and Dbecasue:B has 1,3,4andD has 1,2,3,4 so it has this combination 1,3,4 contained in the T1also.I've tried to do that with group by, with having, in and it neverworks (I always became all records which one of them is in this T1table).Maybe some one from you did try something like that, and can give afast answer.I will be very greatfullGreatingsMateusz

I have a table that has Finance transactions in it. I want to find the last time a transaction was put in and the balance that was recorded for that last entry for each account.

3,4567,2013-10-30,2200.00
3,4567,2013-11-30,2000.00

I am trying to write a query statement that can show me this.

2,1234,2014-11-30,1500.00

Once I have this part working I actually need to make it a sub-query for more customer information from another table.

Total Of A Group In Table

If I swapped order of Grouping to Year then Product, I could simply add a SUM in the group header, but the users don't want it displayed that way round.
Any suggestions for "All products" ?

Subreport In Group Of Table

Feb 19, 2008

Hi all,

I am creating a report based on a table in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Sevices. I need to display a subreport within the groupheader of a group I inserted to the table.
When I try to preview the report I'll get the following error: "An error occured during local report processing. An internal error occurred on the report server."

When I place the subreport outside of the table the report runs.
I tested the scenario in an emty table. When I place the report in the details row the subreport is displayed succesfully. If I insert a group to the table and place the subreport in the groupheader the same error occurs.

Is it impossible to use a subreport in a groupheader? If not, does anyone have an idea how to sove this issue?

Thanks!
Dirk

Calculate Inner Group In Table

Mar 10, 2008

I'm trying to grab the Total for each "brand" in my table group (this is not in a matrix).

Period 1 Period 2 Period 3
Sensible Choice 2007 3843 4020 4746
2008 1830 3352 1025
Total: 1830

Maxi 2007 124388 132248 162429
2008 127729 194458 13732
Total: 127729

I want to make the total the same amount as the 2008 total per period. (everything in yellow is the group 1 (outer group and the red is the inner group. When i tried to get the value for the year 2008 and put it in the total field, i put Last(Fields!PeriodTotal.value), but it doesnt work, because sometimes it gives me the 2007 total, and sometimes it gives me the 2008 total. I dont know why. Any suggestions on how i can get the 2008 value everytime.

Select 1 Row From Each Group In A Single Table

Aug 19, 2006

Hello everyone, I've got a bit of an SQL mystery that I'm not sure how to solve.  For some reason I just cant get my head around it.  Here's the scenario:
Table A:
_____________
BidID - Int identity
AuctionID - int
BiderName - varchar(50)
bidAmount - money
______________________
Now obviously each Bid will have a Unique ID using BidID but the other rows will contain multiple bids per user, on many different items possibly.
BidID   AuctionID   BiderName   BidAmount
1            4005            joeblow         100.00
2            4005            janedoe         101.00
3            4005            joeblow         107.00
4            4006            joeblow         100.00
5            4006            janedoe         105.00
6            4006            joeblow         106.00

I need to find out which Auctions JoeBlow is bidding on, but I dont need a table with Rows for every single one of his bids, just a distinct auctionID for his top bid so in this case the only thing returned would be
3            4005            joeblow         107.00
6            4006            joeblow         106.00
Any clues?  I've been through sub querys, and stored procedures, and I cant get anything to work quite right.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Moving Table To New File Group

Oct 17, 2007

Hi all

I have a table called ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION which is in PRIMARY file group, in order to move this table to new file group [FG_ACTV], I have done the following

1. ALTER DATABASE [MYDB] ADD FILEGROUP [FG_ACTV] (i have not attached a file to this file group)

2. IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.indexes WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION]') AND name = N'ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION_PK')
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION] DROP CONSTRAINT [ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION_PK]
GO

3.ALTER TABLE [dbo].[ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION] ADD CONSTRAINT [ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION_PK] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[ACTIVATION_CONSUMPTION_ID] ASC
)WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, SORT_IN_TEMPDB = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ONLINE = OFF) ON [FG_ACTV]

The above command executed successfully and now the table is in new file group [FG_ACTV]

My question is how come the table was moved to new file group though it has no files attached to it?

Thanks in advance.

Get Specific Rows From A Table (using Max And Group By)

Apr 8, 2008

Hi

I'm no expert at SQL, I can't figure out how to solve that problem.

The following statement:

SELECT TeamMemberId, max(MonthId) as MonthId
FROM Position
INNER JOIN [Month] m
INNER JOIN [Year] y ON m.YearId = y.Id AND (y.Id = @yearId OR y.Id < @yearId)
ON m.Id = Position.MonthId
GROUP BY TeamMemberId

Returns
TeamMemberId MonthId
1 14
6 20

which is exactly what I want: The greates MonthId for each TeamMember in a specific year.

But I need more data for this postition, like the PositionName.

But the statement:

SELECT TeamMemberId, max(MonthId) as MonthId, PositionName
FROM Position
INNER JOIN [Month] m
INNER JOIN [Year] y ON m.YearId = y.Id AND (y.Id = 2 OR y.Id < 2)
ON m.Id = Position.MonthId
GROUP BY TeamMemberId, PositionName

Returns
TeamMemberId MonthId PositionName
1 2 ***. d. Geschäftsführung
6 20 ***. d. Geschäftsführung
1 14 CEO
6 16 CEO

The red rows are the ones I wanna get.
How can I achieve that only the max. MonthId rows are returned, even when I need to select more columns?
Any help is much appreciated.

Stefan

Assign Table To A Specific File Group

Aug 22, 2002

How can we use the SQL INSERT statement in the stored procedure to create a table in a user specified filegroup? Table1 will be created by using the following SQL script and will be placed in a default filegroup. The question is can this table been created in a specified filegroup other than default filegroup.

INSERT INTO Table1(col1,col2)
SELECT col1,col2
FROM Table2

Example, userA table assign to userA filegroup. userB table assign to userB filegroup. Usually by using CREATE statement you can put the table on a specific filegroup as long as a predefined filegroup has been hard coded in the script. I appreciate any inputs.

How To Create Calculate Field On 3 Table Using Group By

May 9, 2014

I am a student, and I am so confused by SQL code that calculates incomes of my contract in a year or each month of year.

I have 3 tables:

lodgings_Contract:
id_contract indentity primary,
id_person int,
id_room varchar(4),
day_begin datetime,
day_end datetime,
day_register datetime
money_per_month money

electric:
id_electric indentity primary key,
id_room varchar(4),
number_first int,
number_last int,
Sum_Number int,
money_electric money,
status bit

Water:
id_Water indentity primary key,
id_room varchar(4),
number_first int,
number_last int,
Sum_Number int,
money_water money,
status bit

Now what I want to do are statistics on how much money I got in a year or month. Here is my code to calculate incomes of year.

Select Year(day_register) as 'Year'
, Sum(money_per_month * month(day_end-day_register)) + sum(b.money_electric+c.money_water) as 'Incomes'
From lodgings_Contract a
, electric b
, Water c
Where a.id_room = b.id_room
And a.id_room = c.id_room
And b.status = 1
And c.status = 1
Group by Year(day_register)

How Can I Hide A Table Column Based On A Group ?

Jul 12, 2007

I am using Reporting Services 2000. If you find out that Reporting Services 2005 would resolve this issue, please lemme know also. But I want to mention that I would prefer a way to fix this without changing Reporting Services versions.

I have a table that has a group on ProductTypes. This group is set to PageBreak at end.
What I need to do is to conditionally hide an entire column based on the current group's ProductType.

Examples
Page 1 = Product 1 = Column 1 is visible
Page 1 = Product 1 = Column 2 is visible
Page 2 = Product 2 = Column 1 is hidden
Page 2 = Product 2 = Column 1 is visible

Can you help me figure this one out ? I've tried everything I found on the net, especially everything on this page : http://blogs.msdn.com/chrishays/rss.xml

Thank you in advance.

Change Table File Group Filegroup

May 10, 2007

Hi There

I am running SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, i want to split my data and indexes on different drives.

In 2000 i had to recreate clustered indexes and non clustered indexes on the correct filegroups to accomplish this.

In 2005 i see there is a ALTER TABLE MOVE TO Filegroup option, thats cool.

Does this effectively do the same as rebuilding the clustered index on the new filegroup? Will this leave the other indexes of the table on the primay filegroup or move them as well ?

If i wanted to also move the non clustered indexes is there a better way to move them that drop and re-create on the new filegroup in 2005, i see the ALTER INDEX statement does not support a move to filegroup option.

In a nutshell what is the best/easiest way to move exisitng table data and indexes to new file groups in Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition?

Thanx

Transact SQL :: Getting Random Rows From Table / Two From Each Group

Sep 2, 2015

I am using Sql Server 2008 R2.I have a existing query that basically says

Select Top 50 Subscriber_ID,  Member_Name, Group_ID
from my_table
order by rand(checksum(newid()))

However the client now wants to have at least two from each group_id. There are 17 different groups.  When I run this as is I get about six of the 17 groups in the results.  How can I change this to get at least two results from each group_id?

Trouble Hiding A Group With A Subreport In A Table

Mar 17, 2008

Let me first describe my report: I have the following table

Header
Group 1 row--There is a textbox that in this row that when toggled makes visible the two below group 1 rows and the detail row.
Group 1 row
Group 1 row
Detail row
Group 2 row-- This row has a textbox that can hide the below group 2 row.
Group 2 row-- This row contains a subreport.

Currently, I have a parameter that allows the user to conditionally collapse or show the tables' information for printing purposes so the user doesn't have to go through and click on so many plus signs. My problem is I would like to use a parameter to conditionally hide both of the Group 2 rows so that the user cannot view or click on them. The information in Group 2 is extra and not always needed, so I would like to provide the user with a way to hide this information when they go to view the report. However, I imagined this would be easy enough. I went to group2's visibility tab through the table interface and set the expression to "=IIF(Parameter!ShowIndexes.Value, FALSE, TRUE)". However, when I view the report the report is hiding the detail information as well as the Group2 rows.

Anyone have any ideas?

Group By Positive Or Negative Number In Table

May 7, 2008

Sorry if this question has been answered before--i tried a search but nothing came close to what i needed.

I have a report I am creating where I need to group on whether a number is positive or negative. The number will never be zero. This number is a decimal (currency), if that makes a difference.

I have tried creating a formula field with the following expression:

Code Snippet

IIf(Fields!Num.Value > 0, 1, 0)

I tried creating a group using this field (essentially, positive = 1 and negative = 0), but it gave me no results at all.

If you need any more information, please let me know and I will provide what I can. Thanks for your answers!

Dynamic Group Changing In A Table Report

Nov 29, 2007

Hello all!
Does anybody know, if it is possilbe to dynamically change grouping in a table report?
I mean, is it possible to provide the enduser the capability to group data in a table on whatever column he would like?

The second question is related:
Is it possible to make a usersort on a grouped table, in such way, that ALL the rows would be sorted ascended regardless of the group they belong to? (For now the only way I see to do this is to give the enduser possibility to turn off grouping manually)
