Hi , I have got an SQL query which gives me some report against some data fed in .How can I set this query to run from a browser window .Meaning there will be some form where we input the data ( say date ) and run that query from the browser windows against that data .and the results are displayed in the browser window . Thanks for your help
We recently upgraded from ReportViewer 9.0 to 10.0 Control in our ASP.NET application, and face some strange issues after the upgrade. When we press the Back button to go to a page that was rendering a report with one or more single-select drop down lists, the selected index in the drop down is reduced by 1, and the report doesn't render until I press "View Report". I verified that exact same setup works well with ReportViewer 9.0.
I have designed plenty of reports in VS 2005 and have been deployed on the reporting server. I have been designed one web page which shows UI through which user can access which ever reports he/she wants. I have kept some buttons on UI. When button is clicked appropriate report accessed and displayed on the browser. Â Problem is that, report width is about 40 - 50 % of the screen and report viewer shows the report on the left align of the screen. I just want to show the report at the center of the screen. Also, any property I can use to set the report size in the proportion of screen in Percentage(%).
We have a reportviewer on a webpage to display a report.
All works perfectly until the users interact with the web page. i.e. expand/collapse or sort sections of the report. When the page is re-drawn the reportviewer toolbar (or parameter area if used) is hidden behind the webpage's titlebar.
After re-installing SQL Server Express 2005 and the Toolkit BIDS will not launch. Windows is looking for a file devenv.exe. Does anyone know how to get around this problem?
Looks like I sucessfully downloaded SQL Server Express Edition w/Advanced Services SP2 on my Vista-based notebook. Took care of the prerequisites from downloading with Vista. I see the Configuration Manager, and Error and Usage Reporting. But......How do I launch SQL Server Express please? Thank you! Sandra Shokite
Is this true that only one Person can query the Server at the same time? ( 1CAL Lizense)
I wrote a .Net Appllication and now the Appllication need acces to the Server to Query Tables. In the "Rush Hour" it is possible that more than 100 Person make Querys from that Application to the SQL Server at the same time.
I donīt understand the CAL Lizens because the SQLServer Express allows up to 20 connection!? The SQLExpress is for free and allow more connections than a paid Version? Or is a difference between connection ( through the Appllication) and Connection through the Management Studio ?
I attended one of the SQL Server 2005 "Ready to Launch" parties a couple of years ago and was given a complimentary SQL Server Standard Edition CAL along with a copy of the SQL Server 2005 Standard setup DVD.
As there's no mention in the "Ready to Launch" pack of an included Server license I was wondering whether it is possible to install a copy of SQL Server 2005 on a standalone server and use the single CAL in a Production environment without having to purchase a Server license? The pack does include a Product Key - is this the Server license?
Probably simple but I cannot find the property setting that allows me to change the default date format of the column "Created" in the Summary window. Default it is 2007-11-15. As some tables are changed more than one time in a day, I would like to see also the time as was the standard in SQL SERVER 2000. This is a minor problem but an irritating one!
Our Dev team created a web application. Which user we need to add in the database and what permission we need to assign him. So web application can do read, write and modify in the database tables.
Database name = ACCT IIS server name = MASS (running on different machine win 2003)
What role following accounts play in the connection of iis to database server login.

If <indentitt impersonate = TRUE or False> in the config file..
I have been trying to drill down to the cause for this event log message: "The configuration of the AdminConnectionTCP protocol in the SQL instance SQLEXPRESS is not valid." It is reported from the SQLBrowser service as a warning when the service starts. I have tried starting SQLBrowser.exe with -c flag, but the output reveals no errors. I have seen this error on three computers. Two are running SQL 2000, 2005 and Express. One was only running Express, but still this message. I then looked into the log for the SQL Express server itself. It shows this message on startup: "Dedicated administrator connection support was not started because it is not available on this edition of SQL Server. This is an informational message only. No user action is required." Now, it appears to me that these two messages may relate to the same "error" (or rather behaviour by design). So, can anyone confirm that the warning in the event log from the SQL Browser service occurs becuase of that the SQL Express edition doesn't allow any "AdminConnection", but the SQL Browser service isn't aware of that SQL Express edition shouldn't support that, and reports it as a warning (implying that we can't do much about this warning)?
I am new to SQL Server and I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 Express or Stnadard Edition on a computer runing XP pro on a XP's workgroup network using a router. Can I access the the database from another computer running XP pro on the same network? If I can, what setting do I need when installing SQL 2005 in order to do this?
Poor me :o I have to share a home PC now so cannot have things my own way. When using my own PC I had SQL Server 2005 dev edition run on start up. Now I am sharing it seems rather churlish to not have it start on demand. With 2000 you got a little icon in the taskbar that indicated the status of SQL Server and a quick right click -> start was all you needed to get the little fella up and running. With 2005 you need to go all the way to configuration manager and start it. I have four options:#1 - a few mouse clicks to start SQL Server via configuration manager (unacceptable - imagine all the wasted time and RSI!)#2 - bat file to start SQL Server (ok)#3 - more sophisticated little app that shows the status of SQL Server in the taskbar and allows me to start it (nice but a pain to put together)#4 - something much spiffier which one of you gurus can let me in on I am sat on the edge of my little seat in anticipation :)
I just set up a server with Windows 2003 Standard x64. I have a copy of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition that I got from the Microsoft Launch event. On the back of the case, it gives version requirements for both the x86 and x64 versions. When I went to install it, it didn't ask me which one I wanted to install. When I look on the CD, I see different installers for x86 and x64 for various pre-requisites, like MSXML. As I'm installing SQL Server I see that it is installing most things to "C:Program Files (x86)" which is where 32-bit programs go.. I decided to let it finish. Most of the binaries and everything, include sqlservr.exe, are in the Program Files (x86) folder, but it did install a few things in Program Files, so it must be aware of the difference.
I checked task manager and, I see that the sqlservr.exe and SQLAGENT90.exe are NOT 32-bit processes. So, great, they're running natively in 64-bit mode! But when I look at the server options in SQL Server Management Studio, the patform is listed as NT INTEL X86. The memory page also shows an option to use AWE which according to the documentation is only available and relevant to 32-bit installations.
SO I'm pretty confused. Almost everything points to this being an x86 installation, but the running processes are running natively in x64. Does anyone know what's going on here?
I just tried to run the x64 version of SP1 for SQL 2005, and it told me that it cannot update x86 products, so I guess that clinches it. I'm still pretty confused and annoyed though. If this isn't x64, how can I get an x64 version of the same product, and will my license key work?
We have development and user acceptance (UA) servers. When I start a job on the development server, on the management studio, Start Jobs window and Job activity windows indicate "Executing" until the end of the job and finish with "success" or "failure"
But on the UA server, second after I start a job, Start Jobs window comes up with "success" or failure" and Job activity monitor says "idle" but Job continues to log without any error message and updates the tables. So these two windows are not reliable at all. I have to add that I have only job operator rights on the UA server.
In MSDN, it says that it is recommended to use windows authentication to connect to SQL Server rather than use mixed authentication.
I create user deltasqluser on windows OS, and I specify in my webform ASP.NET script below :
protected System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Label1; private string _connString = @"data source=deltasql2000;initial catalog=northwind;integrated security=false;user id=deltasqluser"; /* comment : I login to my windows as deltakoronx, and I want to every user (including me), connected to sql server through IIS, will be identified as deltasqluser not as user's login (impersonate) */ private void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(_connString); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(); cmd.Connection = conn; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; cmd.CommandText = "select suser_sname()";
at web.config, I add : <identity impersonate="false" userName="deltasqluser" password="" />
at IIS webApplication1's properties, tab "Directory Security", at "Authentication and access control" section, I checked "enable anonymous access" with user : DELTAIUSR_DELTA and checked "Integrated Windows Authentication",
at query analyzer, I login as "sa" and execute script below : exec sp_grantdbaccess 'deltasqluser','northwind'
when I run the ASP.NET script, error at conn.Open(); with error message : Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'.
What should I do so that IIS login to SQL Server as user deltasqluser not as "NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE" ?
Hi, I attended the Technet Ready to Launch event and obtained the dvd set, but when I tried to install the sql product, the software won't take the product key (the key is the same as the studio product). Anyone experience the same?
The SQL SERver 2005 Standard Edidtion install CD and the MSDN CD distributedat the SQLServer Launch in Chicago are blank. Has anyone else had thisproblem and or requested replacements? If so, how.thanks muchMo
I am using ReportViewer control for showing reports on my aspx page. I am able to show the report. But for the report both vertical and horizontal scrollbars are coming. when I viewed the report in Report Server website it is coming with out them and i can use the browser scrollbars to see the full report.
I came know the I have to set 2 properties (SizeToReportContent to True & AsynchRendering to False) of the reportviewer control to remove the scroll bars. But even after that the scroll bars are coming. The scroll bars are not coming only if i set ShowToolBar to False. But if i do that I can not see the "page navigation" and "export" etc. options.
Can somebody suggest any way to remove the horizontal and vertical scroll bars with out removing the toor bar of the ReportViewer control.
My understanding is that Microsoft acquired the rights to use and re-badge Sybase as SQL Server and since then have engaged in a substantial re-write as part of their commitment to it.
Is this correct and can anyone give me some dates ?
I want to build a task that does 3 things automatically at a fixed time interval:
1) Refresh the data (copy newly inserted data from a datamart to a datawarehouse) 2) Run a program (exe) to produce some external reports 3) Refresh an OLAP Cube with the new data so that users can access it
Basically, using SQL Server Agent, setting up steps 1 and 2 was pretty straightforward (for step 1, the main point of entry is a single sp).
I ran into some trouble figuring the easiest way to complete step 3. I created a DTS package with one object that updates the Cude on my server. This seems to be working fine. Then, I created step 3 in Agent and chose 'CmdExec' as the type of command. I then referenced the external exe 'dtsrun' to execute my DTS package.
Everything seems fine but I'm not sure I used the "best" way of doing things. Since the SQL Server Agent and DTS manager are both SQL Server tools (so is the Analysis services), I'm wondering if there wasn't an easier (thus more robust) way of completing my 3rd step?
The problem can be seen in Enterprise Manager for 2000 (all service packs), Service Manager for MSDE (2000 all service packs), and OSQL (2000 all versions). The exact problem is as follows: In a network environment if SQL EXPRESS (problem does not occurr with 2005 Standard) is installed using defaults SQL 2000 & MSDE machines will no longer see instances. This is a browser issue for 2000 and MSDE. For some reason the response back to the 2000 machine from the EXPRESS machine causes the 2000 machine to stop listening for reponses.
If you have a network with SQL 2000/MSDE machines that have named instances (default instance is not affected) they will lose sight of eachother when a SQL EXPRESS box is put on the network with its SQL browser service running. We have tried service pack 3a and 4 on the 2000 boxes and it does not resolve the issue. It may resolve issues with 2005 and 2000 on the same machine but this problem is with networked machines and doesn't appear to be the same issue. The SQL EXPRESS machine will be able to see all the named instances from the 2000 boxes and the 2000 machines usually will only see the EXPRESS named instance until the EXPRESS box SQL Browser service is stopped. No word from Microsoft so far.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A SIMILAR ENVIRONMENT AND RUN INTO A SIMILAR ISSUE?
I am developing a project in vb.net. I have an object data source which is a class. I added a report1.rdlc file. I want to display the records of my object data source on this rdlc file and view them in the reportviewer, which is on my main form.
I dragged and dropped the fields from the datasource window onto the .rdlc design file. I also made the connections in the reportviewer using the smart tag. But when i execute, it displays the report1.rdlc file in the viewer but with no records on it.
Is it possible to translate the web report viewer control to another language (german, french...)? I need to integrate the control in a multilingula website.
I need also to change the messages from the report during the rendering "Report is being created".
And is it possible to change the little green animated icon during the process of creating a report?
I have a report (stored procedure) that I have set up in SQL 2005 Reporting Services. I've designed this report (using SQL server business intelligence studio), and several other reports, thinking that running totals or summing may be the issue, but it hasn't been. The latest iteration has been just a display of product info, about 100 records, no fields formatted or summed. Very very simple, straight-forward report. If I go to the Report server & upload the rdl file, it displays fine, performs as it should, paging & exporting - everything works fine. The issue comes up when in a web app, I put a Reportviewer control on the page, and call the report.
It works, sort of.
Originally, I had written the page using ASP.NET AJAX Enabled web project, and I had been using the Tab Container on the page. What happens is when I open it on that tab (I am using AJAX Tab panels, which had been working fine without this behavior prior to finally getting the reportviewer working), and the report displays, the "e" on Internet explorer at the top of the tab now flickers, like the page is reloading. It also runs the CPU up to 100% on the computer and although I can go from tab to tab in it (I am using AJAX tab panels in the page), it will take like up to a minute to go to the next tab. I'm not doing anything really data-intensive on those tabs, and they had been functioning fine prior to putting in the report viewer (i.e. they weren't flickering & clocking the CPU).
Thinking that the Tab Container may be the issue, I created just a plain AJAX Enabled web project and put the same reportviewer on it. Same performance. It'll display the report, and then take the system up to 100% and stay there until I kill the browser.
After that, I did just a plain old ASP.Net web project and put the report viewer control on it. Same result. The report will display, but as soon as it does, the "e" on Internet Explorer tab starts flickering and you see the CPU go to 100% and stay there. I've left it for 20-30 minutes with no change. It appears as if the page is constantly refreshing.
Thinking that the issue may be related to having the reportviewer report hard coded in the app, I put a button on the page, and assigned the button to put in the report. It displays, but it again runs the CPU up to 100% and stays there.
I thought that having Asynch = True (run the report asynchronously) might be the issue, but setting it to false made no difference.
I eventually have to kill the page to do anything, because it has the system up to 100%.
The code I am using on this page follows:
Here's the code in the codefile:
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load If Not Page.IsPostBack Then Me.ReportViewer1.Visible = False End If ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = ""
End Sub
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click ReportViewer1.Visible = True ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = "/BA10listing"
.... so you can see there's a lot going on here. The report returns ~100 records or so, no calculations, no summation, no grand totals. Basically a "nothing" report, just listing product info data.
In SQL Reporting Services in the web browser, this report displays fine, no problems. It's only when I call it from the Reportviewer inside a web page that it hangs.
Any idea why reportviewer might make this act this way?
My system is running Windows XP, VS 2005, I have both SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 on this same box. I have a server that has both SQL 2000 & SQL 2005 on it as well, and the behavior is the same for both, whether I run the web page with the Reportviewer control on it with the report being on the local system, or the remote system.
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
I have a report that displays fine in VS 2005 (in the Preview tab), and if I hit it via a URL in IE as a deployed report. However, when I embed it in a ReportViewer control for display on a web site, I get no data back for the report. I am using an Oracle database for the data source. None of the the logs in reporting services show anything wrong, there are no events in the event viewer to indicate any problems, Oracle logs also show no problems and no errors are returned to the page when the "View Report" button is clicked.
Can anyone tell me if you can display line numbers in the query windowof SQL 2005 Management Studio and if so how do I go about doing it?Thanks a bunch. TFD
