How To Pass SessionId From Java Webservice Client To ReportExecutionService

I trying to execute the render method in the ReportExecutionService using AXIS java client.
I call the loadReport which executed succesfully and I got the ExecutionId.
But I am not sure where to set this ID.
When I call the render method I am getting
The session identifier is missing. A session identifier is required for this operation. ---> The session identifier is missing. A session identifier is required for this operation.

I have implemented a package, which loads data from a flat file into an OLE DB destination. I have added the properties of the OLE DB Connection Manager to the package configuration (XML file), in order to give me enough flexibility for running the package on different databases.
Now I wanted to integrate my package into the application that would call it and I ran into these problems.
A. Call a package from a JAVA application:
I have a JAVA web application, which should provide the source file and finally trigger the load operation.
A1: How can I execute a package from within a JAVA application?
A2: How can I pass parameters to this package?
B. Parallel Package Execution:
If I was able to trigger the package execution from my application, then I can encounter a situation where the package is triggereed to be executed again with different input data before the first package has finished.
B1: Is it possible (from SSIS point of view) that the same package gets executed parallely with different input?
C. Run the package against several databases:
Assuming that I have 5 databases where I load data using this package.
I have created 5 configuration.xml files with the corresponding DB connection properties.
C1: How can I tell the package which configuration file to read from, in order to load the source data into the correct destination? Is it possible to pass the path of the configuration.xml file when executing a package?

Hi,
Based on jax-ws 2.0 technology, I built a java client application to access a report via the web service interface of the SQL Server Reporting Services 2005.
I used the jax-ws "wsimport" tool to generate the java classes needed to call the web services (The class generation is based on the wsdl and I used this one http://serverName/reportserver/reportexecution2005.asmx?wsdl) and wrote the following sample code :

The trouble is that an exception is caught on the call to the render method
javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException: The session identifier is missing. A session identifier is required for this operation. ---> The session identifier is missing. A session identifier is required for this operation.
I found on the web (in C# examples) that this SessionId is supposed to be contained in the ExecutionId attribute of an
ExecutionHeader object. The ReportExecutionServiceSoap class (my rs object in the example) does not offer any way to directly set this SessionId or to associate an ExceptionHeader before calling the render method.
Have you ever tried - and managed - to do it.

Hi.. My Finance user create a microsoft Excel OLAP file that connect to our SQL server. And I have created the same ODBC setting for every PCs.
But for a few PCs, I encountered the following error "Client Safety Options do not allow pass through statement to be issued to the data source" When trying to connect the OLAP file to SQL server after entering the same SQL account.
Any idea what is the isssue ??

Hi Guys
I am trying to pass a sessionID as a parameter to a Stored Procedure.
What i am doing has worked when the SessionID was a number.(It was a smallint)
Now it is a combination of a lettere and a number(NVarChar)
I dont get any errors but my DataReader is empty
But i directly submit a value to the Storedprocedure it works

I am trying to extract just the session id from some iislogs, and was curious the best way to go about doing this. The session ids will all be like "ASP.NET_SessionId=1wtdqn241f0ews55n5hsipib" with 42 chars in length, however the sessionid can be anywhere in the column, sometimes by itself, sometimes at the beginning and sometimes near the end. I guess the best way to do this is search for %ASP.NET_% but im not sure how to pull just the sessionid out.
does anyone know how I should approach this or where this topic has been brought up in the forums so I could get an idea. I tried searching by instr and sessionid and few others.

Hello all
I am trying to build a web user interface to render a report using web service. In my code (Vs2003 - Visual Basic) of the web form, I have the following 3 lines in various placces.
1. Dim rs As myserver.ReportExecutionService = New localhost.ReportExecutionService
2. Dim execInfo As New myserver.ExecutionInfo
3. Dim execHeader As New myserver.ExecutionHeader
When I run the code the debugger says myserver.ReportExecutionService, myserver.ExecutionInfo, myserver.ExecutionHeader are not defined.
Environment: win2003 ent, Sql2000, SQL 2000 report service Prof sp2, Vs2003 sp1
What am I doing wrong?

Hi guys,
I am using the ReportExecutionService (RES) to render a report on the ReportServer programmatically. I have a report sitting on the report server with a custom assembley inside its footer. The reports renders to 7 pages and on the 7th page my custom assembley writes to the database. So when the report renders, i expect to see one record in the database. This is true when i run the report from VS IDE, and directly from the report manager.
But when i call the report via RES i notice that there are two records in the database per report. So it seems as if calling the render method renders my report twice. Does anybody know why this is. Your help and comments will be very much appreciated.
This is what i see in the database after calling render method of RES
1st Record: ReportName = x TotalNumberOfPages = 7
2nd Record: ReportName = x TotalNumberOfPages =8
This is what i see in the database after viewing in VS and Report Manager
1st Record: ReportName = x TotalNumberOfPages = 7

Okay, in doing some research about executing a report using code, I found the ReportExecutionService.Render and .LoadReport methods.
If I use this, is the report stored as a snapshot in history on the Report Server or how is the report rendered?

I am using SSRS for Reports. Every thing working fine, but i have one problem when my rport get the 2000 record (each record showing on single page in my senario) then ReportExecutionService.Render method did not return array of byte[].
Can u help me as soon as possible.

Hello all,
I'm at a bit of a loss as it seems what I want to do should be obvious but I can't seem to locate whether it is possible. Essentially I would like to render a report using the api/C# and I would like to set the actual data the report renders via an XML string that I construct however I like within my code. Is this not possible? I hope I'm overlooking the obvious here.

Hi all,
I am trying to render a report using the ReportExecutionService class render method. The report has a parameter ( Combo Box) which gets populated when the report is opened in report server. there are other parameters also. I am passing all the parameters in an array ParameterValue[] .
But the execution throws an error . I tried to catch the error using SoapException and the Error Code was "
rsReportParameterValueNotSet" for that parameter.
What i get is that i will have to paa all the parameters after opening the report so that the parameter (Combo box) get populated with the values and after that if I pass the parameters it should work.
For Example on the report server , when i open the link to the report that time it populates the data for parameter. Then i get the list of values gor the parameter.I am not able to find a way how to get this done through code.
I am not able to find any help regarding this. Please help at earliest.

We have 15 clients running our applicaton
14 of then conected to SQL server using TCP/IP and it runs fine
1 of 15 when connected using TCP/IP produce "..Time out error "
but runs fine when swiched from TCP/IP to Named pipes
1.What area should we look to correct problem with Time out using TCP/IP ?
2. Where to get information about using TCP/IP via Named pipes ?

On Windows XP systems I get the following issue when trying to browse the MSDB folder in SSIS
Client unable to establish connection
Encryption not supported on SQL Server. (Microsoft SQL Native Client)
I have noticed another post where several others have noticed the same issue. It appears to only occur on Windows XP installations. Is there a workaround or fix for this?

Hi,
I have SQL2000 installed as the default instance, and now I'm trying to install SQL 2005 standard edition as a named instance.
I receive this error :
SQL Server could not connect to database service for server configuration.. [SQL Native client] Encryption not supported on the client. However I'm able to install client tools
The setup works fine on other box with the same config : SQL 2000/Windows XP, is there any work around for this issue ?
In my SQL 2000 client network utilty "Force proctocol encryption " is desabled and did not find the setting for SQL 2005 !

My preferred programming language is Java (sorry Microsoft). I've searched for examples of running DMX queries into an Analysis Services database from Java but failed to locate any. I've seen suggestions that XMLA could be used but again, I can't locate any examples (in any language). For my current project I ran up the white flag and used C# instead but this wouldn't be an option in other cases. It would be possible to make the DMX calls from C# objects and call those from Java but that's pretty labourious to code.

I created a custom DTS object that does its work by calling awebservice. When you create the object in DTS, it lets you set theuser/pw you want to use to authenticate to the webservice. The problemI am having is that once I authenticate to the webservice within DTS,it always uses the same authentication when contacting the service.So, for example, I drop a new instance of my object into a package. Itconnects to the webservice as me. I set up the parameters of the task,including telling it to connect as User="test". If I run it, my codesets the credentials correctly on the webservice, but the webservicestill gets called as me.If I exit out of SQL Server and go back in, and run it, it correctlyconnects as User="test". But then if I try to edit the task, and givemy own user and password, it still always tries to connect as "test".It seems whoever I initially connect to the webservice as, that is theinformation that DTS will use for the entire session.Is there any way to do what I want to do?thanks

I have a webservice that I would like to call from SQL Server 2005. I have done alot of testing and am pretty familiar with how CLR works and how to create assemblies in SQL. My problem is that I don't know much about .net and am not sure what kind of project I need to create in Visual Studios to accomplish calling the webservice. I've tried googling and have not found much that is of use to me.

Can somebody show me an example of this i am completely clueless on how to invoke a WCF webservice for every single row fetched from a database.

After creating a WebService using SQL Server 2005 HTTP Endpoints I can only browse to the wsdl file using localhost address and not via the machine name
For example http://MACHINENAME/SomeWebService?wsdl will ask for some authentication that can never be determined while
http://localhost/SomeWebService?wsdl will successfully generate the WSDL file
This happens on the actual machine and on all other machines in the domain which pretty much defeats the purpose of using Web Services to expose functionality.
Does anyone have any idea regarding
(a) what security features are at work here,
(b) Where are they documented
(c) How to set or use them in such a manner as to actually be able to use web services.
While investigating I have noticed that all examples conveniently use localhost and so either avoid or never address this issue.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I have noticed what seems to be a bug in Reports using an XML Webservice for a datasource.
I have the data source setup and working to query an XML webservice. All fields aren't always populated - so after the intial step that automatically builds your dataset and sets up the field names - I went in and manually added the remaining missing fields (which were blank).
Then I setup the report - dragging/dropping fields from the dataset.
I thought everything was working fine, UNTIL i noticed that IF the FIRST record contains ANY blank fields - ALL of those fields (on every record returned) show blank on the report.
For example my webservice might return something like this:

In this case, Tim should actually show the Child_ID value, but apparently because the first record didn't have a value - the report assumes NO RECORDS will have a value and doesn't bother printing them.
But if I run the report so that the first record DOES contain that field - then everything seems fine.
I can see that my Dataset hasn't changed - as it still contains all the fieldnames (even the ones that sometimes return empty).
Am I doing something wrong?

Anyone have any tips for using Java against SQL Server? Our ITdirector is thinking of making us a Java shop, but I really would liketo stay with SQL Server as our RDBMS. We have Oracle Financials butour in-house development (currently VB6 client-server, soon to bereplaced by a service-oriented architecture based around Sonic andincluding SalesForce, both of which are Java) has been against SQLServer. He says five years ago at his old company Java/SQL Server hadlousy performance. I vaguely remember that since then Microsoft cameout with their own JDBC driver for SQL Server...
