How to pass a XML data parameter to an SQL 2005 Stored Procedure
I hope to insert a xml data into an typed xml column in SQL 2005.
1. I can run the Code 1 correctly.
2. I hope that I can pass a XML data parameter to an SQL 2005 Stored Procedure, So create the Code 2. but I get the error below:XQuery [cw_bookmark.Bookmark.modify()]: Only non-document nodes can be inserted. Found "xs:string ?".
3. I create the Code 3, but I get the error below:XQuery [cw_bookmark.Bookmark.modify()]: ',' or ')' expected
4. I create the Code 4, but I get the error below:XQuery: SQL type 'xml' is not supported in XQuery.

Hello, since a couple of days I'm fighting with RS 2005 and the Stored Procedure.
I have to display the result of a parameterized query and I created a SP that based in the parameter does something:

Inside my business Intelligence Project I created: -the shared data source with the connection String - a data set : CommandType = Stored Procedure Query String = schema.spCreateReportTest When I run the Query by mean of the "!" icon, the parameter is Prompted and based on the value I provide the proper result set is displayed.
Now I move to "Layout" and my undertanding is that I have to create a report Paramater which values is passed to the SP's parameter... So inside"Layout" tab, I added the parameter: Name allow blank value is checked and is non-queried
the problem is that when I move to Preview -> I set the value into the parameter field automatically created but when I click on "View Report" nothing has been generated!!

If the user is in the role, the error is triggered saying that @C_ID is expected by the stored procedure. If i then change the value from 0 to 10, the stored procedure works fine.Is there any reason that the stored procedure is failing when the value 0 is used and not when any other value is used?Thanking you in advance.
In the snippet below, ExecuteSqlString is a stored procedure that accepts one parameter. SelectChangeDropdownRowsource is a function in my code behind page that generates the string I want to pass. I can't seem to find the correct syntax to get it to work. The way it is show below, the error comes back about incorrect syntax near ')' . I am using SQL Reporting Services to generate reports. I am calling the stored procedure from the reporting services. The procedure has parameters which take null. I am stuck with passing null to the parameter from the reporting services. I shows the error and the report is not generated. Hello, I was wondering if you could help resolve a simple question - namely how to input a type text value as a parameter to a stored procedure, which expects that type of input.
Text type variables are not allowed and casting to varchar in this case will not work as the input will be far longer than 8000 characters.
There is a stored procedure spoc_updateTheater that accepts the state and location id and runs a set of sql statements against the theater table. However i want this to run for all the locations in a state one by one. There are some 700 locations in 45 states. How do i pass the location and state id one by one to the stored proc. Can i call this from a commandline or run it as batch process?
I am wondering if some of you T-SQL pros encountered a situation when you have a parameter that can consist of multiple strings. For instance, I have a stored procedure called dbo.usp_CalculateHeadcount that accepts two parameters such as @Term, and @AcadLevel.
It works great when my parameters are two single strings; 'Fall2007', 'UG'. But let say I have one more term such as 'Fall2006' and want to pass it to a stored procedure, the problems start to appear.
It doesn't work because I have added an extra string and stored procedure thinks it is another parameter. Is there a way to handle problems like the one above?

In the front end, I got multiple values for Subject parameters such as Math, English, Reading, etc... in a specified class. How do I can modify my above stored procedure to receive multiple values for a single parameter.

My problem is, when I pass a parameter like 1; it fetches all rows with roles having 1. But I realised that the last row in the sample data does not have 1 as roles, but rather 11.

Dear All! I use a "Execute SQL Task" to call a Stored Procedure. My Stored Procedure have an input parameter with type: ntext. And in "Execute SQL Task", I set variable in Parameter Mapping as following:
Variable Name: User::xmlDocument (this variable is a String to store xml data) Direction: Input DataType: NVARCHAR ParameterName: 0

Problem about pass a big string (over 8000 characters) to a variable nvarchar(max) in stored procedure in SQL 2005! I know that SQL 2005 define a new field nvarchar(max) which can stored 2G size string. Hi, I'm reasonably new to ASP.NET 2.0 I'm in my wizard_FinishButtonClick event, and from here, I want to take data from the form and some session variables and put it into my database via a stored procedure. I also want the stored procedure to return an output value. I do not need to perform a select or a delete. For the life of me, I can't find a single example online or in my reference books that tells me how to accomplish this task using a SqlDataSource control. I can find lots of examples on sqldatasources that have a select statements (I don't need one) and use insert and update sql statements instead of stored procedures (I use stored procedures). I desperately need the syntax to: a) create the SqlDataSource with the appropriate syntax for calling a stored procedure to update and/or insert (again, this design side of VS2005 won't let me configure this datasource without including a select statement...which I don't need). b) syntax on how to create the parameters that will be sent to the stored procedure for this sqldatasource (including output parameters). c) syntax on how to set the values for these parameters (again...coming from form controls and session variables) d) syntax on how to execute, in the code-behind, the stored procedure via the sqldatasource. If anybody has sample code or a link or two, I would be most appreciative. Thank you in advance for any help!
I used Datagrid to show "Title", "Location" and "Date", It works very well. I want to sort DataGrid data, that is when user click the "Title", "Location" or "Date", my asp.net code will through class and send "Sort" parameter to stores procedure to get the new data and bind to DataGrid.

I am trying to access the Return Value provided by a stored procedure executed on SQL Server 2005. The stored procedure has already been tested and it returns the required value. However, I do not know how to access this value. I have tried appending a parameter to the command object using "adParamReturnValue" but that only returns an error. The code works fine without appending this parameter. I have tested it by grabbing the recordset and returning the first field.
To avoid any confusion, I'm not talking about adding an "output" parameter to the stored procedure. I just want to be able to access the return value provided when the procedure is executed. Below is some of the code I am using.
