How To Pull Data In The Inline Code Block Inside A Template?
Jan 12, 2007
The code block is embedded into a grid view item template.
<ItemTemplate>
<% if ((bool)Eval("isNew"))
{ %>
New Post
<% } %>
</ItemTemplate>
but as per rule Eval and Bind can be only use bind the data.
How would i pull the information from sqldatasource in the template like this?
I have some SQL code as inline SQL (bad habit, I know). Now I want to convert this to an sproc, but I'm pretty much out of ideas here. The code looks like this: string SQL = "SELECT * FROM MyDBTable WHERE 1=1"; if (txtMyField1.Text != "") { SQL = SQL + " AND MyField1 = @MyField"; } if (txtMyField2.Text != "") { SQL = SQL + " AND MyField2 LIKE '%'+ @MyField2 + '%'"; } if (txtMyField3.Text != "") { SQL = SQL + " AND MyField3 LIKE '%' + @MyField3 + '%'"; } I have an search page built on ASP.NET 2.0. Based on what the user has entered to the form fields, the SQL in constructed on the fly. Since this is now inside codebehind file (aspx.cs), I want to get rid of it and move it to an sproc. But the question is how ? Some simple SQL clauses are easy to convert to an sproc but this is causing me lots of issues.
In the below procedure definition, i need to find a way parse the definition and get the list of places where the where clause is being used.
SELECT DISTINCT FC.CASE_ID, UPPER(FC.CASE_NUMBER) AS CASE_NUMBER, UPPER(REPLACE(FC.CASE_SHORT_TITLE,CHAR(13)+CHAR(10),'')) AS CASE_SHORT_TITLE, FC.CASE_STATUS_DESCR, FC.CASE_TYP_DESC, FC.CASE_SUB_TYP_DESC,
[Code] ....
In the above query there are more than one places and the where clause may not have the same string the where clause it can be with a space between the "=" and the value in single quotes.
Result set should be in the below format:
TABLE NAME Column Name VALUE CFG_ELEMENTS ELEMENT_NAME REPORT_CONSOLIDATEDCASES_CASERELATEDTYPID
does anyone know of any boilerplate code or templates (codesmith or other code-generation software) that can be used to produce a UI for a custom task?
i explain what i mean is if i have stored procedure with 7 conditions for evry day in the week one condition like this i have 7 code blocks for Sunday,Monday , .....Saturday
Code Block CREATE PROC YourProc @StartDate datetime = NULL, @EndDate datetime = NULL AS SET @StartDate = COALESCE(@StartDate,DATEADD(d,DATEDIFF(d,0,GETDATE()),0))--defaulting to todays date if not supplied SET @EndDate=COALESCE(@EndDate,DATEADD(m,1,@StartDate))--defaults to 1 month from today
WHILE @StartDate <= @EndDate BEGIN SELECT CASE WHEN DATENAME( dw,@StartDate)='Sunday' AND
empid IN (SELECT empid FROM v_un WHERE (shift =51 ) THEN 1 WHEN DATENAME( dw,@StartDate)='Monday' AND empid IN (SELECT empid FROM v_un WHERE (shift =11 ) THEN 2 ............ WHEN DATENAME( dw,@StartDate)='Saturday' AND ... THEN .. END SET @StartDate=DATEADD(d,1,@StartDate) END GO
This is the code which I have written in code window.
Public Shared Function CalcLocalFactor(ByVal CalcLifeCode As Integer, ByVal CalcFiscalAge As Integer, ByVal CalcLifeYearsUsed As Double, ByVal CalcLocConvention As String, ByVal CalcSRate As Integer) As Double Dim locCalcFiscalAge As Integer = 0 Dim locFactor As Double= 1.0 Dim locFactor1 As Double = 1.0 Dim REM1 As Integer = 1 Dim DEP As Double = 0 Dim YR As Integer Dim HALF_YEAR As Double Dim LINEAR As Double Dim MACR As Double If CalcFiscalAge > CalcLifeCode + 1 Then locCalcFiscalAge = 0 locFactor = 1.0 End If If (CalcLocConvention <> "HALF-YEAR" And CalcLifeYearsUsed < CalcLifeCode) Then locFactor = Math.Round((CalcLifeYearsUsed / CalcLifeCode), 4) End If If (CalcLocConvention = "HALF-YEAR") Then for YR = 1 to CalcFiscalAge step 1 If YR = CalcLifeCode + 1 Then locFactor1 = 1 Exit For End If If (YR = 1 Or YR = CalcFiscalAge) Then HALF_YEAR = 2 Else HALF_YEAR = 1 End If LINEAR = Math.Round(REM1 / (CalcLifeCode - YR + 1.5) / HALF_YEAR, 4) MACR = Math.Round(REM1 / CalcLifeCode * CalcSRate / HALF_YEAR, 4) If MACR >= LINEAR Then DEP = MACR Else DEP = LINEAR End If locFactor1 = locFactor1 + DEP REM1 = 1 - locFactor1 locFactor = locFactor1 Next End If Return locFactor End Function
I'm calling this code in a Report Parameter like below:
It is working fine for the first record where as for other records, the value is not getting changed. i.e. the first records value is coming repeatedly for all other records also.
How can I dynamically change the parameter values of the function?
Parameter is not accepting directly the field names, hence I used other parameter to initialize the field and used that parameter for this.
Ex. Parameter Name ; FieldPurchDate (internal) FieldName : PURCHDATE Other parameter: FieldInDate (internal) FieldName : InDate
While initializing the new parameter CalcPurchDate,, I used an expression for this: Parameters!CalcFiscalAge.Value
=iif(Parameters!FieldPurchDate.Value is nothing, Parameters!FieldInDate.Value,Parameters!FieldPurchDate.Value)
and using this CalcPurchDate for processing of the parameter:
I have a RPC which gives me multiple - single record rows like
Robert|K|Half|TX|1123823|1423904 -- This is one such record that i get in 1 Column
Now I need to split the above record into 6 Fields and populate in my local DB I know i could use any .NET Language and accomplish this. But Iam limited to using SSIS/T-SQL Proc's
I have the following stored procedure to test scope of variables
alter proc updatePrereq @pcntr int, @pmax int as begin
[Code] ....
In the above script @i is declare in the if block only when the @pcntr value is 1. Assume the above stored procedure is called 5 times from this script
declare @z int set @z = 1 declare @max int set @max = 5 while @z <= @max begin exec dbo.updatePrereq @z, @max set @z = @z + 1 end go
As i said earlier `@i` variable exists only when `@pcntr` is `1`. Therefore when i call the stored procedure for the second time and so forth the control cannot enter the if block therefore @i variable wouldn't even exist. But the script prints the value in `@i` in each iteration, How comes this is possible should it throw an error saying `@i` variable does not exist when `@pcntr` values is greater than `1`?
was a result of running DBCC DBREINDEX.I wasn't able to replicate this when I did a trace on my local machine, but SQL Monitor from Red-Gate shows that query happening for at least some of the tables that are being reindexed via a job. Is there anyway to examine the actual code inside DBREINDEX to see exactly what commands it may execute?
Hi.here is my code with my problem described in the syntax.I am using asp.net 1.1 and VB.NETThanks in advance for your help.I am still a beginner and I know that your time is precious. I would really appreciate it if you could "fill" my example function with the right code that returns the new ID of the newly inserted row. Public Function howToReturnID(ByVal aCompany As String, ByVal aName As String) As Integer 'that is the variable for the new id.Dim intNewID As Integer Dim strSQL As String = "INSERT INTO tblAnfragen(aCompany, aName)" & _ "VALUES (@aCompany, @aName); SELECT @NewID = @@identity" Dim dbConnection As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(connectionString)Dim dbCommand As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand()dbCommand.CommandText = strSQL 'Here is my problem.'What do I have to do in order to add the parameter @NewID and'how do I read and return the value of @NewID within that function howToReturnID'any help is greatly appreciated!'I cannot use SPs in this application - have to do it this way! :-( dbCommand.Parameters.Add("@aFirma", aCompany.Trim)dbCommand.Parameters.Add("@aAnsprAnrede", aName.Trim) dbCommand.Connection = dbConnection TrydbConnection.Open()dbCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() 'here i want to return the new ID!Return intNewID Catch ex As Exception Throw New System.Exception("Error: " & ex.Message.ToString()) Finally dbCommand.Dispose()dbConnection.Close()dbConnection.Dispose() End Try End Function
I am very new to the subject of writing CLR code inside SQL Server, so I apologise if my questions seem naive.
I have a requirement to populate an asp.net 2.0 GridView control with data columns, some of which are directly from a SQL Server 2005 database, but some of which are calculated by calling CLR methods passing the values from the database columns to those methods.
However, the methods I need to call only make sense in the process context of the client web site which is calling the stored procedure which I want to write to return the data columns.
In effect, I want to be able to make a remote procedure call from within the SQL Server CLR code to the methods available in the client process.
Is this possible? If so, could someone please refer me to an example of how to do it.
If it can be done, it opens up lots of very cool possibilities!
Does anyone know how to install or make available the Data Transformation Project Template in SQL Server 2005? I can not find it using Integration Services.
Hi, Is there anyway I can impliment this in my application without installing it as a COM. My Web Hoster says they won't install it. The Data Access Application Block
I'm developing a Windows Mobile application, which is using RDA Pull for retrieving data from SQL Server 2005 database to PDA. Please, see the example:
Code Snippet
using (SqlCeEngine engine = new SqlCeEngine(connStr))
the sqlcesa30.dll cannot connect to SQL Server database.
In the sqlcesa30.log then I found following line:
Code Snippet
2007/04/17 10:43:31 Thread=1EE30 RSCB=16 Command=PULL Hr=80040E4D Login failed for user 'test'. 18456
The user 'test' is member of db_owner, db_datareader and public roles for the Demo database and in SQL Server Management Studio I'm able to login to the Demo database with using the 'test' users credentials and I'm able to run the select command on 'mytable'.
So, what's wrong? Why the sqlcesa30.dll process cannot login to the Demo database, and from another application with using the SAME connection string it works?
I download the DAAB CF version. However, most of them use SQLCEClient to connect to the database. Is there any DAAB that use SQLClient? One workaround that I made is I replaced all SQLCEClient objects with the SQLClient objects. I only test one method "ExecuteDataset" and it works so far. However, my question is "does my workaround a good solution?"
Where interid in ('comp1', 'comp2', 'comp4', 'comp5')
what would be the best way to using these scripts pull the data to my testDW and not have duplicate data issues?
I was thinking of using a staging DB on the GP cluster and then building an import data package to run nightly. the issue i had was how do i avoid duplicate data ?
I'm trying to use the Data Access Application block, and am having some issues with configuration. I am using it in a class library, and it seems that with v 3 you need to configure the DAAB first, making changes to the configuration file. However, in a class library, I do not seem to have the web.config or app.config file to change. So where do I need to store the configuration settings? Thanks, Paul
We are expanding an application's database hardware to have a mirrored failover server. Normally in this case we just have the application add "Failover Partner=MirredServerName" in the connection string.
However, this application is using the Enterprise Library Data Access Block and we can't find any documentation describing how to setup the Failover Partner using this library. Any help would be appreciated.
I am trying to execute oracle procedure (anonymous block) with input and output parameters from ms sql code and return 2 values back:a number and a string.I am using **EXEC() AT** to execute oracle code and return a string back to ms sql. It works fine when returning numbers, but if I add a string output parameter, I am receiving an error:Msg 0, Level 11, State 0, Line 0...A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.
The server log has the following entry in exception.txt:
Exception 0xc0000005 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 00000005031C07E0 at 0x0000000070F9C183 There is also a SQLDump file generated: * BEGIN STACK DUMP: * 10/28/15 12:45:38 spid 63 * Exception Address = 000000005040C183 Module(MSVCR100+000000000003C183)
[code]....
It looks like the problem is in passing varchar2 from oracle into ms sql. I had logging code in oracle block, and it works fine. I have found a few examples of using **exec() at** but there is always only integer output passed back.
No idea where this bug crept in from. Have been using SSIS for 1.5 years now without hitting this problem.
I had a script component opening an XML document and parsing it using XPATH. I added some code that uses StreamReader / Streamwriter (closing one stream before starting the other). The code works without issue in my C# app.
And it ran without issue 2-3 times in SSIS. Then suddenly after running my package again, the script component says it completes successfully, yet nothing happens. I set a breakpoint on the first line of code - it never hits it. I add a msgbox as the first line of code - and it never displays.
I then close my package / exit out of ssis ... and then re-open it. When i open my script component, all of my code is GONE. All references that I added are gone.
I tried adding the streamreader/writer process to a dll I created from my c# app ... and added the DLL to the package -- same result.
I can reproduce this on 2 different computers.
Anyone experience this problem ? Any idea how to stop it ? Or debug it ?
Here is a slimmed down code sample of what causes the error :

Hi, Writing a report that displays total hours, etc for each day in a given month and I'm having trouble comking up w/ an elegant solution. Tables are set up like this: table1 (id, start_date,end_date,submitter) table2( id,table1_id,start_time,end_time, etc) Each record in table2 is a child to a parent record in table1 and there may be multiple children for each parent. The "start_time" and "end_time" fields are datatype "datetime" and are stored with actual times (not 12:00:00 AM"). I need the report to display the values for each day in a gridview, etc so I can act upon them from the "RowDataBound" sub (more math, etc). The problem that I am running into is that for records that have multiple children for a given day, I need to sum those results and display the summed data as a single row within the GV - can't seem to work that out - I keep getting every child record displaying as its own row in the GV. Any thoughts? I'm sure it's probably fairly simple but I am still a beginner...thanks as always
I am new to SQL, as old as it is. I am not new to programming Inormally just use Access.I have two tables for a little project manager I made. After updates Isent an email to the user. I need to populate the user based on the"Assigned To" field I use, but I only log the username and not theemail address. Is there a way to associate the "Assigned To" to theUser's account in the "User" table so that I can pull thier emailaddress through code?ThanksChuck
I have the report sever running on windows2003 with sql standard server 2005. However, I' m trying to create a report that pull data from a different server with sql express. Could I do this? If so...any links, examples, suggestion I can take a look at.
I am trying to pull data from SQL Server 2000 database onto my Pocket PC and the simple query works on Northwind sample database but does not on another custom build database. I did test the statement in the SQL Query Analyzer and it works.
The error I get is: "Failure setting up a non parameterized query, possible incorrect SQL query."
I know the code is right - thanks to Rory B's screenscasts. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi, In my application i am storing the data in a database(server A). And i have a scenario where in a middle server(server B) is there in which i need to create a table and pull the data from one of the tables from my original database server(server A) into second database server(server B). Where can i get the code to write a job script which can connect from server B to server A and pull the data from the table and delete that data from the table in server A. Can any give me the code or link where i can find the code. Please help. Thanks
Good Afternoon, I have recently been tasked to come up with a means by which to create SQL data pulls based on user entries. What I mean by this is, I will have a pre defined SQL data pull set up and the user can then select the criteria upon which to pull said data. So, say I want to display a table where one of the colums has is the "Year". I dont however want all years of data pulled, only 2005 - 2006. So, in form field 1, I could select start year as 2005 and in form field 2, I could select end year as 2006. This would then give me all data from this table based on that year range, or whatever year range I select and submit. Is there a way to do this in ASP? I have been reading up on UDF with SQL, but I cant find anything about linking it through the use of web forms or through ASP. Or if there is another way to accomplish this? Any assistance is very much appreciated!
