How To Pull Existing Table From Database And Merge Into New Database

I am new to sql and my boss want me to write the program for database and he wants to pull the info from existing table from sql server which is used by Microsoft GP Dynamics and write me code or some kind of front end so when he wants he can pull same data from GP dynamics table and generate some report with other custom table.
How i can do this task? What I have to do in sql so I can use same table to view info in real time so that means if i enter new data in the table it will show up same time in the front end as well.
I am currently implementing RDA Pulls and Pushes. Both worked fine for me, except when I try to pull a certain table twice. I read that in order to pull the table a second time I must drop it on the client.
My original approach was to use a select statement with a where criterium in the pull statement (e.g. SELECT * from tblPhonebook where Pulled = 0), then set Pulled to 1 and pull again later.
My understanding of RDA was that I use the where criterium to filter the data at the server side and simply append that data at the client side.
Can I simply append data in some way or do I really have to drop the table on the client side every time I pull?
I am building RDA process between SQL server and SQL server CE. Since when we use the method 'SqlCeRemoteDataAccess.pull()', the data will be pulled down from SQL server to CE server and a new table is created with some addtional columns. As I only intend to pull the data and never push it back to SQL server, if I pull the data down for the second time, there will be an error saying that table is already existing. I wonder whether I can pull the data to an existing table everytime I do the RDA?

I am working with a table in SQL server. I have a column that I want to designateas an identity column. I am not able to do this, because the field for "Identity Specification" is not editiable. What I did was I went to sql server, right clicked and selected "Modify".The column properties dialog box/edit grid is then displayed with attributesthat I can modify. There are two major nodes in this dialog box. One is named "General" and the otheris named "Table Designer". I expand the "Table Designer" node and then go to the node labeled "Identity Specification" It is here where I would like to edit thevalues. The values that are listed for edit are listed below. BUT, the problem is thatI can place my cursor in those fields, but I am not able to change/edit them.Can anyone tell me what the problem is here? and how I can fix it? +Identity Specification (Is Identity) Identity Increment Identity Seed
I am new to use MERGE statement. The MERGE cannot find any match Cardnumber in the target table. It inserts row into an existing row on the target table causing SQL rejected with duplicate key not allowed. The CardNumber is defined as a primary key on the target table with no duplicate allowed. Below snippet stop when MERGE insert a row exists on the target. The source table contains multiple rows with the same Cardnumber because it is a transactional table with multiple redemptions.
If MERGE cannot handle many (source) to one (target) relationship, what other method that I can change to in order to update the target GiftCard table which keeps track of gift card balance?

I would like to restore database using RESTORE DATABASE ... REPLACE command. If database exists already and has any open connections this command will fail. I would like to close all existing connections to specific database before running RESTORE DATABASE ... REPLACE command. I can do closing from Management Studio using checkbox "Close Existing Connection" when deleting database. Actually I need to do the same but from script.
I need to recover some data in a table but i'm not 100% sure the right way to do this safely.
I'll need to query the two tables to compare the before and after but how do i go about restoring/attaching the backup database to SQL without causing conflicts?
If I restore, I assume this would just overwrite which is obviously the worst thing that can happen. if i attach the backup, how does this affect the current live DB? how do i make sure that it's not getting accessed and mistaken for the live DB?
I have a problem when i restore my .DAT_BAK file. I am getting error like "The backup set holds a backup of a database other than existing database. Restore Database is terminating abnormally".

When i use like this,

I want to restore a database (from an encrypted .bak file) - but *not* over the live original if you take my meaning. Encryption is the standard AES-256 that comes with Sql Server 2014 btw. I don't want the original touched/altered in any way. I would like to capture a success message if possible.I can extract the physical device name of the database in question using the following code:

Hi, My server went dead(problems with the hard disk), but I have a copy of the whole sql server directory including the database in a external hard disk. I have a new server now and I would like to copy this database (with the reports from reporting services too) from the external hard disk to my new server. can anybody help me please? Thanks.
Note : I have a plain copy of all the sql server directory with all the files including the database not a SQLServer backup done with the wizards.
I've been assigned the task of setting up access to our SQL Server 2005 box. A consultant developing for us has accessing to 2 databases and I've set this up fine. It appears however that one of these databases is re-copied over to the server every night to keep data reasonably current.
I'm not interesting in changing this method as I'm not the maintainer (as yet).
Basically I would like to know if I've setup access to this database (it works fine), when the database is updated (with an SSIS package) the account seems to get deleted. Do the original permissions from the source database overwrite those of its destination?
It may sound like crazy question, But just curious to know if any one tested this scenario.
I was restoring an existing database from a backup. While the restore is in progress, I found i was restoring with old back, then I canceled the operation.
Now Will it restore the partial data or it rolls back the entire transaction and brings back to original status or it will currupt the database??

Hi, In my application i am storing the data in a database(server A). And i have a scenario where in a middle server(server B) is there in which i need to create a table and pull the data from one of the tables from my original database server(server A) into second database server(server B). Where can i get the code to write a job script which can connect from server B to server A and pull the data from the table and delete that data from the table in server A. Anyone have any experience in connecting to a Basis database? I want to build an SSIS package to ETL data out of a Basis database and into a sql server 2005 db. I have downloaded the ODBC driver, but am not usre how to plug it in to SSIS to do teh extraction.
Also I am totally new to Basis...it is not an RDBMS at all but the literature says it supports SQL queries, so I am not sure about where to start.
I need to pull dates from a DB2 database via TSQL (Linked server - IBM DB2 for i IBMDASQL OLE DB Provider) and compare it to today for a less than or greater than type comparison.

I need to concatenate the date to be "sql" friendly, and then compare to today's date. I am trying to enable a replication process between a SQL 2005 server and sqlexpress instances and i run into the following problem.
On the publisher a subscription (sp_addmergesubscription) is added for each 'machine' that participates in the replication. Is there a way to get around this?
Because when we distribute the installation we dont know all the machine names. I have made the publication accesible for anynymous access. But when the replication script is installed on the client ,the Error message that the subscription does not exists appears.
The only difference between the instal script for the client is that we do not add a sp_addmergesubscription on the server. Is it possible to let SQL server make an subscription when the client connects for the first time?
To summarize my question: Is there a way to enable the replication with only running a script on the client and not on the server?

- Transactional (5 articles - tables only) Users receive data based on their territory #, therefore they receive their customers sets of data. It happens that customer change from one territory to another but not frequently. When it happens, so far so good, the data is redirected to the new salesrep using the model we configured (Territory table with SUSER_NAME() to filter the data).
Ok, here's my problem. Since a while, I can see in the replication monitor that some users seems to log the same conflict again and again (Merge process). I mean, checking the history for many subscribers, there is always the same number in the "Conflict" colums. As an example: - Merge completed after processing 18 data change(s) (4 insert(s), 14 update(s), 0 delete(s), 31 conflict(s)) - Merge completed after processing 27 data change(s) (10 insert(s), 17 update(s), 0 delete(s), 31 conflict(s)) - Merge completed after processing 20 data change(s) (5 insert(s), 15 update(s), 0 delete(s), 31 conflict(s))
and so on...(Those are only 3 historical entries for a single subscriptions but there are many like that, always with the same count of conflict - vary per user). It appears to me that the same conflicts come over and over.
The thing is that if I decide to reinitialize a subscription, conflicts will disappear, therefore I know that it is not a process on the server that keeps changing the data; anyway, even if it was, changes would be applied on the subscription because the server always win in my setup.
Any idea what should I do with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We are running merge replication, SQL Server 2005 Enterprise with SQL Mobile 2005 (Windows Mobile 5) subscribers. Partitions are filtered on HOST_ID.
Ocassionally we experience a situation where a subscriber experiences an unusually long synchronization duration, and upon examining Replication Monitor, it appears that twice the number of rows, or X the number of rows (up to 7 times the number of rows) that should have been inserted are recorded as synchronized for the session: once the normal amount as inserts and once the normal amount as updates. This occurs for all tables in the subscription. This occurs on a first time synchronization to an empty subscriber database where there should be only inserts taking place.
I have examined the snapshot partition folders for these users on the file system and they appear to be identical in size and content as other subscribers. Checking the last partition snapshot job run and other characteristics for the the subscriber in question, everything appears to be the same as other subscribers functioning normally.
The HOST_ID for us is an employee ID used to filter employee specific data. I have seen this happen if the subscriber changes the value for the HOST_ID used in filtering, after the mobile database has already been populated (2 employees attempt to use the same mobile device and database). But, we have seen this happen recently where the HOST_ID was apparantly never changed midstream.
This just started happening recently. The only modification around the same time frame was the implementation of a custom business logic handler/custom conflict resolver that performs like "Latest Wins" but has logic added to update the a last-update datetime column for selected transaction tables at time of synchronization, so that an SSIS job can detect the changed rows for copying incremental database changes to another application database. This all seems to be working perfectly.
Our current application which uses SQL 2000/CE uses a single Merge publication to populate numerous "read only" tables on the mobile device, and create the schema for a "transactions" table, which will be filled by the mobile device during work, then merged at sync.
Now, the master "transactions" table at the publisher has millions of rows, and the mobile device does not need any of them... so currently we have it "filtering" by a always false clause, so that none of the data is pushed to the client.
The problem with this is that we cannot archive any of the records in the transaction table, as doing so (say, removing 200k rows) would result in the mobile devices (of which there are about 15,000 active in the field) to attempt to reconcile each of those 200k rows when it is next synced, which takes way too long.
Now, what we would like to do is upgrade to SQL 2005/CE 2005, if the new features will allow us a PULL ONLY table in some way? I cannot find how to do this via the wizard, but am sure I am missing something. At least I hope so.
I have a database project where objects have been pulled in from the database using schema compare.
Unfortunately CDC tables which are referenced in stored procedures on the database have not been pulled in by the schema compare & hence I cannot build the project and deploy changes back to the database.
I've been having an error when downloading the snapshot agent from our Publisher.
The articles selected are all the tables and all the stored procedures.
The Subscription is created programmatically and so is the synchronization. When trying to synchronize for the first time and when the subscriber tries to download the snapshot I have the following error:

I'm getting a little desperate with this because we really need to propagate the schema changes around the subscribers.
I've successfully carried out pull subscription using Wizard in SQL server 2000.
But NOW its the time to deploy the project & I've to do it programatically........
i tried to use the default stored procedures like "sp_addmergepullsubscription ", "sp_addmergepullsubscription_agent ", "sp_reinitmergepullsubscription ", with respective parameters.
Then using replmerge.exe i tried to execute the batch file But could not succeed......
Can anyone guide me from the Basics ??? (i knw the Replication Architecture its heirarchy....but have NO idea of performing it Programatically......!!!!!!!!)

I've plan to writing Stored Procedure ("SP"). This SP contains program that produce a result and this result will insert into already define summary table. This SP will running every 30 minutes.
What is the best solution? I should put this already define summary table in existing Database or i should create a new database and create the summary table into this new database. Can i using ReportServer Database to create this summary table?
I have a MSSQL database from a pre-existing app. The data files do not have an MDF exension, they have a .dat extension. I can however use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express to run queries against the files, but I can not get VB 2005 to connect. When I attemp to add it as a project data source, I get the following error:
"An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file c:dataMSSQL$DATA_SQL....dat* failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share."
*Database names = company names are omitted to 'protect the innocent'.
Does anyone have any ideas? Since Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express worked so cleanly with the database I was expecting to easily get to the same data using VB.
