SQL Server 2014 :: Group Up Records Randomly Into N Number Of Batches

Jul 6, 2015

I need to group up the records randomly into ā€˜nā€™ number of batches. That can be done by NTILE, but I want group up similar records in single group.

Say for example, following is the list of records I have in my table which I want to group into 5 batches

A123
A124
A124
A123
A127

After Ntile I will get the below,

Desired output is, Need output like Ntile but all same id should reside in single batch

Even if I n=5, maximum possibility of batches are 3 only.

SQL Server 2000 Randomly Slow

Jan 21, 2008

Hello there,

I'm using a SQL Server 2000 with a dozen of databases. The databases are rather small (all sizes together sum up to 10 GB).

The entire server gets extremelly slow from time to time (lasting a few days when it happens and suddently coming back to normality). A profiler trace doesn't show anything strange (besides a lot of SQL Agent entries).

I pretty much tried to isolate every single application that makes use of the databases in that server and see if it was the cause of the problem, but I couldn't find any correlation.

I know the computer where this server runs is quite fragmented. Is there anyway I could get to know if this is the cause of my performance issues?

I don't know if this happens, but once the server simply went down for some 3 hours, and I wasn't able to bring it up in anyway. It eventually started working again by itself. The only thing I did in the meantime was to run DBCC CHECKDB a few times, always getting the response "No error found on the database".

Any hint on that?

records.

Anyone know how this can be done? (never came across randomly select records) Appreciate any help

Stored Procedure Inserting Duplicate Records Randomly

Feb 1, 2005

I have a web app that calculates tax filing status and then stores data about the person.

Facts
The insert is done through a stored procedure.
All the sites that this program is being used are connecting through a VPN so this is not an external site.
The duplicate records are coming from multiple sites (I am capturing there IP address).
I am getting a duplicate about 3 or 4 times a day out of maybe 300 record inserts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many sqlcmdInsert.Parameters("@item").Value =

cnTaxInTake.Open()
sqlcmdInsert.ExecuteNonQuery()
cnTaxInTake.Close()

And that is it.

Randomly Getting SQL Server Does Not Exist Or Access Denied

Apr 18, 2008

Randomly getting  "SQL Server does not exist or access denied" error from my server.  All sites on my server lose connection to the MSSQL database on a windows 2005 server.  Anyone know? There is truly no pattern, it just randomly loses access to the SQL server which is on the localhost.  It's often different pages being browsed when it decides to crash.  Sometimes it's a couple hours between crashes and sometimes just a few minutes. I've heard that I should check the log files, but I'm really not even sure what to check.  Any suggestions appreciated.  Traffic is really light on the server right now too.

How Access Records One By One Fetched Using Select Query In Sql Server 2005

May 28, 2008

Hi Friends,
I have created the procedure in sql server 2005 for retriving email addresses from table based on date_expiry and concatinating all email addresses in to @tolist  as shown below
Declare @tolist varchar(8000)
set @tolist = ''SELECT @tolist = @tolist + ';' + COALESCE(email, '')
FROM awc_register
WHERE DATEDIFF(day, date_expiry, GETDATE())='3'print @tolist
 set @tolist = substring(@tolist, 2, len(@tolist))
 and I passed this @tolist to another procedure which should send mails for email addresses present in @tolist variable.
Problem  is I need to send the mail to each email address separatley.( not bulkly)

Thanks,

SQL Server 2012 :: Select Statement - Finding Duplicate Records

Feb 18, 2014

I am trying to build a select statement that will

1). find records where a duplicate field exists.
2.) show the ItemNo of records where the Historical data is ' '.

I have the query which shows me the duplicates but I'm stuck when trying to only show records where the Historical field = ' '.

Originally I thought I could accomplish this goal with a sub query based off of the original duplicate result set but SQL server returns an error.

Below you will find a temp table to create and try in your environment.

create table #Items
(
ItemNovarchar (50),
SearchNo varchar (50),
Historical int

[Code] ....

Ultimately I need a result set that returns 'ATMR10 MFZ N', and 'QBGFEP2050 CH DIS'.

SQL Server 2014 :: Add Multiple Records To Table (insert / Select)?

Jul 31, 2014

I am trying to add multiple records to my table (insert/select).

INSERT INTO Users
( User_id ,
Name
)
SELECT ( SELECT MAX(User_id) + 1
FROM Users
) ,
Name

But I get the error:

Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Users'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Users'.

But I am using the max User_id + 1, so it can't be duplicate

This would insert about 20 records.

Why the error?

Add/Edit/Delete Records With Remote SQL Server 2000 Database

Dec 2, 2007

Using ASP.net 2.0 or Visual Web Developer Edition 2005 I could not find a single example with Datagrid Control or Form View Control, to achieve the basic functionality ofAdd/Edit/Delete Records with Remote SQL Server 2000 Database. When I searched for these examples I found many videos and examples using local database and in learning path of Visual web express editions, very goodexamples and videos using local SQL Server 2005 database, BUT not with the remote database.
My question Is it possible to get the basic functionality of Add/Edit/Delete Records with Remote SQL Server 2000 Database using ASP.Net 2.0 Datagrid and FormView controls?
This question looks like, a lazy developer question!! but, in my learning path I found GREAT videos in Visual Studio Web Developer Express edition and learned simple way of drag and drop the controls assign create local database and their connections, and few clicks to add/edit/delete records using datagrid and formview controls. In real life those are not much useful because many of web interfaces are with sql server 2000 and we need to convert them into ASP.Net. Similarly I wanted to drag and drop couple of controls and less coding etc. and accomplish basic functionality of add/edit/delete records using remote database sql server 2000.
If possible please help me out.
Wondering is it possible to get the functionality of add/edit/delete records using datagrid/formview with remote sql server 2000, the way they explained in bigginers learning videos ... I am referring to (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa700802.aspx)
If possible and you think it is possible please guide me to that URL where I can learn the great functionalty n implement..!!

Trace Auditing For ( New Records And Updates For A Particular Date) - SQL Server 2000 Sp4

Apr 26, 2007

Hi,

I have few tables. I want to identify the RECORDS for a table which has been created/modified for a particular date and time. I don't want to write a trigger to capture the event for add/update.

Is there any system table which track for date and time using stored procedure each individual records which has been last updated or newly created records??

Note : The application already created without lastModified date and each table... so, we don't want to modify the application or db.

Database : SQL Server 2000 sp4

thanks in advance.

SQL Server 2012 :: Select Records Where Combination Of Two Values Are In Subquery Result?

Dec 12, 2014

I have some data in the following format;

MYTABLE

DOC_NO // REV_NO // FILE_NAME
ABC123 // A // abc123.pdf
ABC123 // B // abc123_2.docx
ABC124 // A // abc124.xlsx
ABC124 // A // -
ABC125 // A // abc125.docx
ABC125 // C // abc125.jpg
ABC125 // C // abc125.docx
ABC125 // C // -
ABC126 // 0 // -
ABC127 // A1 // abc127.xlsx
ABC127 // A1 // abc127.pdf

I'm looking to select all rows where the DOC_NO and REV_NO appear only once.(i.e. the combination of the two values together, not any distinct value in a column)

I have written the sub query to filter the correct results;

SELECT DOC_NO, REV_NO FROM [MYTABLE]
GROUP BY DOC_NO, REV_NO
HAVING COUNT(*) =1

I now need to strip out the records which have no file (represented as "-" in the FILE_NAME field) and select the other fields (same table - for example, lets just say "ADD1", "ADD2" and "ADD3")

I was looking to put together a query like;

SELECT DOC_NO, REV_NO, FILE_NAME, ADD1, ADD2, ADD3 FROM [MYTABLE]
WHERE FILE_NAME NOT LIKE '-' AND DOC_NO IN
(SELECT DOC_NO, REV_NO FROM [MYTABLE]
GROUP BY DOC_NO, REV_NO
HAVING COUNT(*) =1)

But of course, DOC_NO alone being in the subquery select is not sufficient, as (ABC125 /A) is a unique combination, but (ABC125 /C) is not, but these results would be pulled in.

I also cannot simply add an additional "AND" clause on its own to make sure the REV_NO value appears in the subquery, because it is highly repetitive and would have to specifically match the DOC_NO)

What is the easiest way of ensuring that I only pull in the records where both the DOC_NO and REV_NO (combination) are unique, or is there a better way of putting this select together altogether?

How To Work With Huge Amount Of Records In A Table Using MSSQL Server 2000?

Dec 21, 2005

In
one of our forth coming projects, with ASP.Net/C#/MSSQL Server, We have
to deal with a Business table having about 15 millions of records. We
want to know, that which methodologies should we adopt, both regarding
front end and back end perspective, so the site could give optimised
performance. Also in place of a Dedicated Server, the Hosting Company
provides MSDE (that come with .net). Will this create any problem with
this project, that have such a huge table? Should we go for some
advanced database technique, such as, Clustering, Spliting Tables, etc.

Followings are the fields that the business table contains:

ID, Category ID (which comes from a Category table, each business is
under a category), BusinessName, SignupDate, Address1, Address2, Phone
Number,
Hours Of Operation, Years in Business, LicenseNumber, DiscountCoupon, Website

CategoryID int,
ParentCategoryID int

Each category, except the top most, has a parent category, it's a 1-to-n parent-children relationship.
Now I want to write a stored proc./function that accepts a CategoryID input parameter, and output all the descendent CategoryIDs (son, grand son, ...). How to do that in MSSQL 2000?
