How To Refresh Access Table From SSIS Package?

Hi all,
I have created an SSIS package to export rows of data from SQL to Access using SSIS package. The package is executed from asp.net web application. Below is what i want to achieve:
-User enters a date range
-SSIS package will export data between the date range from SQL to Access database.
-When user enter another date range, I want to clear the contents of the Access database. (Im using Execute Sql Task--- Delete tablename)
The problem is that when I look at the table after the second user request, the fields will show #deleted. Only after i click refresh will the new data appear. How can I make the data appear without manually refreshing the Access table.

Hi, I have a little problem with an xml package.
I'm a newbie in the XML field and in the new features of SSIS....so help me!
I want to import a complex xml file in SQL Server via SSIS; I've created a package that map the xml source files to many different destination table. When I try to execute the package, I've one error about data type specified on XSD (for example unsignedShort instead of unsignedLong). At this point I fix the XSD file, settings the correct data type, but I don't find a way to explain to the package that it have to reload the xsd file. The only way is to make a new package....
I'm looking for a way to refresh the package without rebuild it...

My current project requires me to both rename the MDB file for an Access database and rename the table it contains. The Access files comes in with random names, each containing one table with a specific name. Based on the table name it contains, I rename both the file and the interior table to a standard name which a later package in the process references.
A foreach container loops through all the mdb files in the applicable directory, containing a script task and a file system task. The script task uses GetOleDbSchemaTable to extract the table name, then loops through an array of table names from the client's configuration, comparing it to a similar array of constant names and getting the matching one. The file system task then uses that found name (or the original table name if a conversion is not found) to rename the file to match that standard name. So far, so good.
Now I have to rename the table within the file as well. All of the examples of code I'm finding on the 'net refernce ADOX, but I haven't been able to figure out how to use that in a script task, assuming that's what I want to do in the first place.
Anyone have any experience with doing things like this?

Now, that when I open a access I need to go to Data -> Databse Utilities - > Refresh Table Manager. Then I select which table to refresh. Is there a way to make it auto refresh when I the database?

Here's the case:

I made a DTS-package in sql2000 that transfers the [sql table] into [dbf file] via jet4.
First i create (in delphi) the empty dbf with the same name and columns same as in sql table.
Second, I run my DTS with variables - source and destination table names
In DTS there is source, destination and transformation . After I send the Variables(table names)
, the transformation "arrow" needs to be "refreshed" to make column names in both tables correspond each other. For that in transformation I chose ActiveXScript Mode and wright VB Script:

I want to do same thing in sql2005 SSIS but don't figure out how...
I managed to make a package that recieves (in variables) table names and runs correctly.
But after I change those variable names into any other it crashes -
Description: "component "OLE DB Source" (1)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA".
Of cource this happens 'cause I didn't "refresh" the transformatoin (and maybe also source and dest), but I don't know how.
Anyone can help ?!

My SSIS package is running very slow taking so much time to execute, One task is taking 2hr for inserting 100k records, i have disabled unused index still it is taking time.I am rebuilding/Refreshing indexes and stats once in month if i try to execute on daily basis will it improve my SSIS Package performance?

I am somewhat new to SSIS, so please forgive my confusion.
I have a situation and I have two possible scenarios that will work, but I'm not sure if either of them are feasible. I have a database that is updated using about 8 text files extracted from the company's main software package. I have set up a SSIS package that takes these 8 files and updates the appropriate tables. This package works pretty well. My question surrounds the automation of the extraction of the files from our software. I am able to do the extraction in one of two ways - a) manually opening up an instance of the tenet program used to run the program with a script built into it or b) using VBA in an Access application to open up the program to run the built in script. In the past, when the platform for the database was Access, I ran the extraction and database update from the same VBA module, but now I'm not sure how to do it.
Is it possible to either:
A) Intiate the run of a SSIS package from Microsoft Access or
B) Somehow open up the program that run's the company's software using SSIS. And this brings another question, if this is a step in an SSIS package, will the package wait to move to the next step until the entire extraction process is complete?

I've tried both "sql" and "dts" with all the various permutations that are listed (and commented out) above. I either get an error that says:
The top level folder "VisBridges" is not found. ("dts" "VisBridges") -- or --

Cannot find folder "MSDBVisBridgesExportTime" ("sql" "MSDBVisBridges") -- or --

so, by end of the day the size of the logs is getting more.
I would like to refresh the log for every day or for each time that the package runs.
How to get it done.

I am trying to get a handle on the new SQL Server Integration Services in SQL Server 2005. There is a legacy DTS package that I need to get working on our new server (using SQL Server 2005) but I can't seem to get it to work.First, I migrated it and attempted to run the package. It gave me many errors. So, I thought I would just rebuild it in integrated services. Everything was going smooth until I got to the real data transformation part.I added a data flow task and it took me to the Data Flow tab. Then I added a DataReader Source. I am trying to read from a dBase III file and I assumed I would be using an ODBC driver for that. Well... it has been hell trying to get it to see the dBase III file and access it.I have tried two solutions from the internet.This one and this one (by Wenyang) with no positive results.No matter what I do I still get an error in the bottom of the Advanced Editor for DataReader Source that reads: "Error at Sales Transformation [DataReader Source [81]]: Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager."Has anyone attempted anything like this before? Are there any SSIS experts around here that can drop me a few pearls of wisdom?Thanks in advance... I'm dying here.

I having a wierd problem.
Environment: SQL Server 2005 (64-bit)
If I create a job with an OS step with the text below

I keep getting the following error:

Executed as user: XYZAdministrator. The process could not be created for step 1 of job 0x2161C39C2C34C54AA850602A482E82DF (reason: Access is denied). The step failed.
HOWEVER...
If I take put the above text within in a batch file (foo.cmd); and chanage the step to execute "c:foo.cmd" it works fine.
What am I missing here? It's seems wierd that it works one way, and not the other.

Hi,
I have an SSIS package that has an "execute process task" that executes a batch file. The package has been deployed to the msdb database, and is called from a stored procedure using xp_cmdshell dtexec ...
I can execute the package just fine if I'm logged onto the server as a system administrator, by running the stored procedure from a query window.
However, if I log on to the server as a non-admin user, the package attempts to run, but breaks at the file system task, with "Access Denied". It can't run the batch file. It seems to be a permissions issue at the file system level.
How do I resolve this?? Please help.

I'm creating a SSIS in the designer view of SQL Server BI Dev. Studio (SQL Server 2005)
I need to import a whole table from MS Access into my local SQL Server.(this task will be performed weekly, so once working I'll schedule a job for it)
I've created a 'FILE' connection to MS Access in the 'Connection Managers'.
When I'm on the 'Data Flow' tab I can't find a Data Flow Item to use as a MS Access connection.
(available on the 'Data Flow Sources' are only: DataReader, Excel, Flat File, OLE DB, Raw File and XML Sources)
What am I doing wrong/missing?

Is there a way to update data on a MS Access 2000 client from SQL Server without polling a table using the form's onTimer event?
It would be much more elegant if I could push the data to the clients every 15-30 minutes when the data on SQL Server gets refreshed.
Can DTS do this? The forms I'm talking about are select only, no editing.
I know I can do this with java and multicasting, should work with MM Flash as well with listeners. I would really like to take this app to Flash, but we have a 1 month timeline to port from Access to SQL Server.

I have three machine:
S: Running SQL Server Express
V: Running SSIS package in VS.Net
F: Shared folder host excel files
And an openrowset SQL statement: select * from openrowset(..... \Fexcel.xls....). This statement can be run in SS management studio connecting to S using my Windows logon(integration security) without any problem.
However, the same SQL running inside SSIS package (integration security using my Windows account) get the following error:
Error: 0x0 at Check headers: OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)" returned message "The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '\Fexcel.xls'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.".
Error: 0xC002F210 at Check headers, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "....openrowset....." failed with the following error: "Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)".". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

I am developing a package to restore a database from backup file on a remote server. I am having problems accessing the remote backup file when it is addressed via the admin share, in this case N$. It runs okay if a specific share is created but for some unknown reason fails via the adminshare.
I am executing the package job with a proxy account that is a member of the local administrators group on the remote server.
It appears that access via a remote admin share isn't possible from within a SSIS package. Is this the case?

I am trying to execute an SSIS package from an MS Access 2003 database that imports a table from the Access database into a target table in SQL 2005. I saved the package in SQL 2005 and tested it out. If I run it from the Management Studio Console with Run->Execute ... everything works just fine. However, if I try to run it using "Exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'DTExec /SER DATAFORCE /DTS SQL2005TestPackage /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V'" the execution will always fail when the Access database is open (shared mode). It will only work when the Access database is not open. The connection manager looks like this: "Data Source=E:Test.mdb;Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Persist Security Info=False;Jet OLEDB:Global Bulk Transactions=1". The error is listed below:
Code: 0xC0202009
Source: NewPackage Connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB"
Description: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.

I have a ssis package which identifies duplicate records in access database. I have staged access database into sql sever and created ssis package. Now, I have final list of records which needs to be delete from access database and new records which are to be inserted into access database.
What do I need to do if I want to delete those duplicate records directly from access database using SSIS. I cannot truncate whole access database and reload. I just have to delete duplicate rows from access db and add new records.

I have this data flow task that will load data from a flat file into a table.
I got a Warning: Truncation may occur due to retrieving data from database column "txtSNumber" with a length of 50 to data flow column "txtSNumber" with a length of 20.
Then I went into Management Studio and changed the column size.
Now in my dev BID I got next:

When I use the OLB data source (SQL SERVER 2005), select * from tableA, then
use several steps and then Union ALL and Fuzzy Match, the process works
fine. When I change the data source SQL to include two tables with a cross
join, the new fields in Table B do not appear in the Union ALL or Fuzzy
Match steps but do appear in all steps prior. The advanced editor refresh
does not fix the problem. Deleting and recreating the Union ALL shows the
Table A and Table B fields. Fuzzy Match is still incorrect. Deleting and
recreating Fuzzy Match fixes it.

Hey, I've a few jobs which call SSIS packages. If I run the SSIS package, it runs fine but if I try to run the job which calls this package, it fails. Can someone help me troubleshoot this issue? None of my jobs that call an SSIS package work. All of them fail.

I am trying to refresh some excel sheet I get with powerquery. After that I load the data in an sql server table to build a dummy DWH for various testing.
My goal is to automate all task and this include also the excel queries. I have seen that exits on codeplex an excel refresh task but it doesn´t work in my enviorment (SSDT 2013) or at least I have been unable to do it.
I have seen too a pragmaticworks component but I have to pay so I have discarded it.
I have tested a code that I have found in this
thread with minor changes like increase the time to refresh the excel file to 60000 and change the line

and replace for

I tried to write a package for transferring SQL 2005 table to a flat file in
Visual Studio. However I got the unicode error message at the destination
even though I only use English. Does anyone has idea? Thanks.
The message is as following :
Error: Column "Status" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode
string data types.
Error: ... ( The same message with all the column in the source table)

I need to create an SSIS package that takes a table name as a parameter and exports out its data in a CSV file.The challenge is that if I use a data flow task and a flat file connection manager (for csv export), I have to specify the file/table structure. I will not know the table structure until the run time because it is input specific.I was thinking along the lines of using C# in a script task, but could not come up with a full blown solution.

I have created an SSIS package that is designed to move data from SQL Server 2000 to an Access db. I have set the package up to accept four parameters. They are:
the name of the SQL Server Database, which is used in an expression to provide the source connection manager connection string;
the full path to the Access db destination database which is used like #1 above.
the SELECT statement used in an OLE DB Source object to get the data from the source table
the table name which is used by an OLE DB Destination object.
I know that the source and destination tables have exactly the same structure and do not require a transformation.
In order to change variables 3 and 4 from above and have it work, I go through the following steps:
I change the variables to appropriate values.
Go to the Advanced Editor for the OLE DB Source object and click on "Refresh". This produces an error in the OLE DB Destination object that is something like "Validation error. Data Flow Task: DTS.Pipeline: input column "strRECTYPESUFFIX" (301) has lineage ID 17 that was not previously used in the Data Flow task.
Go to the Advanced Editor for the OLE DB Destination which brings up the "Restore Invalid Column Reference Editor". I mark all the columns that show up with the option to <Delete invalid column reference> and click OK
I then reopen the Advanced Editor for the OLE DB Destination, go to the 'Column Mappings' tab click 'Refresh', then in the upper pane where the input and output columns list appear I right click and choose "Map Items by Matching Names"
At this point I no longer have the error and the package will execute without any problems.
I am doing this so that I can load the SSIS package in VB.NET (2.0) so that I can then set these variables programmatically and then execute the package. The problem is that this actually performs steps 1 and 4 above. 2 and 3 are left out and the package fails miserably.
I have found some information that would be helpful if I could get my hands on the appropriate object. I realize that the data flow component would return VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA from the Validate method, and that could be repaired with the ReinitializeMetaData method of the data flow component ( I assume that is the object to be using in this case). But I do not know how to grab the "Data Flow Component" as an object based upon the "Package" object I have loaded so that I can check if it is valid and manipulate it if necessary.

Hello all,
I have an issue with my SSIS package not using the package configuration specified in my SQL server table. This is a simple scenario where I need to move data from a csv file to a SQL server table.
I have 2 connection Managers - one for the location of CSV file and another for the SQL database connection string. I chose to Enable Package configuration. Two configurations -
a. Environment variable to store the database connection string.
b. SQL server table configuration for flat file connection manager.
The location of the CSV file is dynamic..so the idea is to change the path as and when needed in the SQL table.
No errors..everything works fine except that the properties of the flat file connection manager is not being pulled from the SQL server configuration table. It uses the location I had specified during design time.
How do I force the SSIS package to use the configuration specified in the SQL table always.
I've been spending a lot of time on this with no success. Please help..
