How To Run Reporting Service In MS-Access Environment?
Aug 6, 2007
Hi
Please someone tell me, is it possbile to run Reporting service in MS-Access environment?
I mean to say i have to use MS-Access as user interface to design and generate report
(instead of Visual studio IDE) and the Sql server 2005 should be Report Server.
If it is possible then how can i implement it.

Looks like I need some additional adjustment on the authentication. But I do not know where and how.
I try to change the webservice identity but after changing the user identity of the application pool in iis ( I think this is the only way to change webservice identity) I got the error message service unavailable in IIS. With this I also couldn't start the webfront end any more. Switching back to NT-AuthorityNetwork Serive the web front end worked again.
I tryed to add
Code Snippet<identity impersonate="true" />
to the web config and I get the same Error on the webserver account...
It would be great if someone could help me to adjust the settings...
I have report that in access 97. When i run that report every morning, it's update technician time, mileage and money. I want that report to be update every min like real time report in sql reporting service.
The main thing i want to know is how to import report from access 97 to sql reporting service. I am not really familiar with reporting services in sql, can you be little more specific where to set up time? The report only update when i run query every morning. Queries and Tables are in access 97. When i tried to migrate tables with ssma, i wan not able to convert all of the query.
i have a list report some values of this are blank or null i want to avoid that spacing if it is null like name:jjj lastname kkk firstname address uuuu
i want it should be name jjj lastname kkk address uuuu
I got a big Access file (1 400 tables) to convert to SQL and I wouldlike to be provided with some automated tools, except upsizing wizardand DTS, to convert it on my own.I got a lot of forms and query to convert too.Can someday provide me with at least one tool name ?Thanks,Guy
I have a problem at the company I work for. For historic reasons many developers and users know the sa passwords for SQL. Obviously this is not a good situtation to be in. Now the obvious answer it to just change this but for reasons unknown to sanity half of our applications are hardcoded to use sa passwords.
Now as a DBA coming into this this puts me in a tricky position as its impossible for me to control who is doing what etc. Is it possible to put triggers or something to monitor logins which will deny access to anyone accessing via the sa password not through an application. Ie if an application calls then the sa will have to be allowed but if a user using Query Analyser for example tries to use sa then they are denied access ?
Long term all these passwords are going to change but it the short term I still need to create some control on the system. Anyone have any thoughts ?
I've been charged with architecting a new SSRS solution for our environment. We're mainly a .NET shop which works with an Oracle Database Server. Our developers want to start using SSRS for report creation and I'm not sure what is the best approach when it comes to this. Normally most of our environments have 3 separate servers, each one is DEV, QA and Prod. With SSRS however, i know that you can create multiple folders each with its own datasource connection, so i wonder if it would be better to just have one server were the developers develop their reports and then move them into a 'production' folder. (Any particular downsides to this approach?)
Also, are there considerations to be taken say, to tune Production SSRS vs a development SSRS or is that not really an issue? Besides that any other resources or tips for implementing SSRS for the first time, we're not going to do much with the actual databases to start we're just going to connect to our main Oracle database.
Is there a development environment for Reporting Services (2005) that is integrated with source control?
You can use Visual Studio to develop reports and place them under source control. But as far as I can tell, you cannot implement security, scheduling, etc. through Visual Studio. For these you can use a second environment, e.g. SQL Server Management Studio - but is this environment integrated with TFS?
In other words, is there a single development environment, integrated with TFS, where you can develop all aspects of Reporting Services reports?
We are using the whole BI-package from Microsoft - from SQL, DTS-package,Raporting Service and Analyze Service.
It should be very helpful to be able to create a metadata databases where you could find all releations between different objects (tables,views,reports,cubes,DTS-package,Databases.
Just to get answer for: 'where is view xxx used', 'what are Report xxx depending upon'.
While everything exists in different SQL databases it should possible to do.
In our project, we would like to use the same data source for our analysis service database cubes and for our reporting service reports.
I created the analysis service project first, deployed successfully. When trying to setting up the data source in the report model project, I selected the "create a data source based on another object", and then selected the "create a data source based on an analysis service project". However, there is no analysis service project to select, and no browse button to see where the reporting service is looking for analysis service project either.
I have tried creating a new analysis service project with data source views, cubes, dimensions and all the stuff, but still cannot see the analysis service project in the drop down box to be selected for my reporting model project data source.
As I am fairly new to the reporting service, I'm sure I'm missing something, but couldn't find much information in the help or on the web. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
I am setting up sharepoint and sql server integration environment. I am considering the following topology: PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 and Reporting Services in SharePoint mode Two Server Deployment
[URL]
I am looking to follow the topology example by the letter, which involves installing PowerPivot for SharePoint (aka SSAS in SharePoint mode) in the same server as my SQL, and installing SSRS in SharePoint (SP) integrated mode in the same server as SharePoint.
I understand, however, that if I wanted to install SSRS in SP mode in the same server as SQL, I could but only if the server contains the SP Object Model.
My first question is, what would involve having the SP Object Model in the SQL Server?
Would only installing SP binaries be enough; or Do I need to do a minimal install of SP in the SQL server enough for it to joing the SP farm? And most importantly, what would be the licensing implications for SP in case I want proceed down this route and have SSRS in SharePoint mode installed in the same server as the SQL?
I have some problem about reporting service add-in.
After I install reporting service add-in for SharePoint, reporting service menu does not appear in Application Management Tab in SharePoint Central Administration.
I try to uninstall and re-install again, it remain not work.
I have finished a change request from our client. I need to update clients' database with the one in developments. Here is the changes i made to database:Added/Changed some tablesAdded/Changed some stored proceduresAdded data to some dictionary tableThe data in clients' current database MUST be kept. So how can I merge the changed information to clients' database?
Can we pass the Database name/Catalog name for the datasouce that will be used for report, as a report parameter . Is yes can any one help me on how to achieve that .
I am using SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. I want to make it secure. I am also using WCF services and made them secure using Claim based System.Identity Model.
I want to apply same claim based model to Reporting Services.
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
Is there any way to get more information for when IAuthorizationExtension::CheckAccess fails to grant access to a report item for the current user? Specifically, it would be useful to know:
1. URL of attempted report 2. IP address of user agent 3. Identity of current user 4. Date/Time of the failed attempt
I started my Reporting Server and if I use the Internet Explorer as a Administrator everything works fine. But if I don't open it as an admin it calls "rsAccess Denied The user [...] does not have the permission...".Problem is that I want to run it in an SAP Program with an HTML Viewer. how I can get those Permissions ?By the way somehow I'm not able to create or change roles in the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
Hi there, I have a problem accessing web service using Web service Task. I set up the task and can see methods available, but the result of execution is only that: <Result>The result is null. Either the result is null or the Web method returns void.</Result> I can connect and get data using C# application. The difference is that I use a token in connection there. What should I do with Web Service Task to fix it?
I am new to reporting services. I have to call the reporting service(some else did this) from the web application that I have created using VB.NET . Not sure how to do it .. was reading few articles on the web .
Any good atricles out there ?
I have created web reference to http://server/ReportServer/ReportService.asmx in my web app. The report expects one parameter .
Below is the code I was starting to write to call the reporting service
For some reason I cannot do ParameterValue() it says undefined. I am using Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 . do I have to use ASP.net2.0 for using reporting services?
We are planning on using 2005 report services. Im wondering how I can feed reports to my asp.net web application that resides on a different machine.
The scenario is: user -> IIS web app -> report on sql
I guess the real question at this point for me, is if I have reports - can I have them cached in pdf format and then how are they accessed with a url ?
We have a billing web service where you passs in the account and amount and get returned an XML string with result. I had suggested that I open up an endpoint and have the service listen for messages but the programming team wont go for it.
What is the best method for me to call an external web service? I have tried sp_OACreate and run into memory leaks and have not had much luck with assemblies. See http://www.codeproject.com/script/comments/forums.asp?forumid=1725&select=2180035&df=100&msg=2180035
I have already Installed SQL Server management studio express edition in my computer. Now I want to install SQL reporting service. Can anyone please guide me to how to do that. Thanks Kalloo
I have Generated a report using Tamil in reporting services in sql server 2005... i can able to generate and preview the report in local system, But when i deployed in report manager server, the generated report statement font's overlapping with others, even after alignment..
Hello all experts! I have a problem I would be very happy if someone could help me out with;
I have a windows 2003 server with SQLExpress and Reporting Services. I have developed a report in visual studio and successfully deployed that report to the server. I can browse http://localhost/reports to access the report and view them (Via terminal server). But when I browse the page from outside I recieve the following error;
"The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version."
If I run from VisualStudio 2005 and try to access the page I get this message;
I've created Report Parameter called AssetCode. In quiry for database, I've created like this:
SELECT a.id1, a.deliverydate, a.retirementdate, b.organisationname, c.costcentre,a.id4,mm.hierarchydescription FROM Asset as a (NOLOCK) LEFT JOIN makemodel as mm (NOLOCK) ON a.makemodelid = mm.makemodelid LEFT JOIN OrganisationTree as b (NOLOCK) ON a.physicalLocationOrgID = b.orgid LEFT JOIN AssetChargeSplit as c (NOLOCK) ON a.assetid = c.assetid WHERE a.status = '2' AND a.id1 LIKE @AssetCode AND (mm.assettype = 1 or mm.assettype = 6) ORDER BY a.id1 ASC, c.costcentre DESC
But when you run a report, if you put for instance "NA196" as keyword, it doesn't return the data for "NA1961", "NA19602", "NA1965", etc etc. But if you put in textfield such as "NA196%", it get the data. ?!?! So how do replace this behaviour?
