I have an application that has a dropdown in which, I want a users most popular choices (from history) to be on top. This is easily done via a query however the query is too slow, after be optimized. I'd like to have create a table that contains each users most popular selection, and then just update it nightly.
How can I schedule some SQL code to run nightly?
Before the start of each season, the various clubs/teams compile an initial game schedule using Excel. Once the master schedule is complete, it is sent to me. The initial master schedule is loaded into the database [MatchSchedule] from the Excel spreadsheet using the SQL Server Import/Export Wizard. This works well enough. However, during the season there are frequent small changes to dates & times, venues, etc. These changes are sent to me in Excel spreadsheets.
I need an efficient & ERROR FREE method of getting the new game details into the master schedule. I thought perhaps the easiest way to accomplish updates to the table MatchSchedule t1 was to use a temporary table MatchSchedule_Updates_temp t2 to hold the new game details (obtained from Excel spreadsheets) and then use UPDATE to update MatchSchedule with those games that have changed. The primary key is Match_Id.
Unfortunately, I keep getting the following error messages which I have been unable to correct!

Is there a way to create a Batch file that will run an Update Statement and schedule it to run?I've used bcp to extract data to a txt file before, but i'm not sure if an Update can be performed.I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition so i don't have Server Agent available.

I have a table right now, that gives when an event was done in a date time (eg. Event done Jan 1, 2014, event 2 done Jan 2, 2014).
What is a feasible way to make a second table to join on this date time which provides the type of worker (eg. part time, full time, volumteer, etc) without making a table with every day, hour and minute as a separate row?
For example, a test was done on Jan 1, 2014 at 1pm, in table A. I was thinking my second table would list every date and time and fill in what type of worker was on at that minute/time. Then I would left outer join with my first table, so the end result would be Event A was done Jan 1, 1pm, therefore it was a: Volunteer worker. Event B was done Jan 1, 2pm, therefore it was a : Full time worker.
But I realize that it is not feasible to write a table with every date/time available to accommodate all the different types of shifts.

I hope someone can help me with a big problem... I'm using Citrix Resource Management Services with a SQL 2000 database. Their are 15 citrix servers which are all reporting to the SQL database.
The database is expanding very quickly and is becoming slower and slower.

I have a table where table row gets updated multiple times(each column will be filled) based on telephone call in data.
Initially, I have implemented after insert trigger on ROW level thinking that the whole row is inserted into table will all column values at a time. But the issue is all columns are values are not filled at once, but observed that while telephone call in data, there are multiple updates to the row (i.e multiple updates in the sense - column data in row is updated step by step),
I thought to implement after update trigger , but when it comes to the performance will be decreased for each and every hit while row update.
I need to implement after update trigger that should be fired on column level instead of Row level to improve the performance?

When a entry is done in the table Adoscat79 having in the index field Statut_tiers the valeur 1 and a date in data_cloture for a customer xyz
all the entries in the same table where the no_tiers is the same as the one entered (many entriers) should have those both field updated
statut_tiers to 1
and date_cloture to the same date as entered
the same action has to be done when an update is done and the valeur is set to 1 for the statut_tiers and a date entered in the field date_clture

This program gets the values of A and B passed in. They are for table columns DXID and CODE. The textbox GET1 is initialized to B when the page is loaded. When I type another value in GET1 and try to save it, the original initialized value gets saved and not the new value I just typed in. A literal value, like "222" saves but the new GET1.TEXT doesn't.

I have a table called ADSCHL which contains the school_code as Primary key and other two table as
RGDEGR(common field as SCHOOl_code) and RGENRl( Original_school_code) which are refrencing the ADSCHL. if a school_code will be updated both the table RGDEGR (school_code) and RGERNL ( original_schoolcode) has to be updated as well. I have been provided a new data that i have imported to SQL server using SSIS with table name as TESTCEP which has a column name school_code. I have been assigned a task to update the old school_code vale ( ADSCHL) with new school_code ( TESTCEP) and make sure the changes happen across all 3 tables.
I tried using Merge Update function not sure if this is going to work.
