There's gotta be a way to tell a DB not to store datetime fields as 24 hour format but rather standard time notation.
So, I don't want this: 2007-04-11 02:01:31.000
I do want this: 2007-04-11 02:01:31 AM
This has to be possible but I can't find it.

Any other ways to do this? I'm using SQL Server 2005 and C#.

Hi:I have created a table that has a column of smalldatetimes. For any given day, there may be different records with the same date but with different times. I've created the query SELECT Event FROM Events where Start=@Start and I input start as a selected date from the calendar control. Because of the different times, I do not get any matches. Of course there are multiple accounts, about 2100 in this case but they very by time periods, and multiple start and stop dates for an account. I need to get the start times and match them w/ the nearest end times but AFTER the value of the start time. Nearest end times must be forced to correspond to the nearest start time but there are some start times w/o end times and end times w/o start times due to user data entry errors. I need a solution that handles this. It is ok w/ the customer to make the assumption of nearest times supposedly going together so they can show the users the errors. I am on SQL Server 2008 R2.

Within this table there are 2 fields, ApptFrom & ApptTo, these are the appointment start & finish times.
My problem is, the values in these fields are held as integers ranging from 0 - 288. I have worked out the scale for the integers, it is based on a 24hr clock with each segment representing 5mins
Eg: 0 = 0:00
12 = 1.00
24 = 2.00
36 = 3.00
€¦
...
288 = 24:00
What I need is a piece of T_SQL that will translate these into times that can be read by a normal user
So, say I have a record with an ApptFrom = 36 & ApptTo = 42, I need to be able to show these as ApptFrom = 3.00 & ApptTo = 3.30
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello! I have a field "End" in my database that is mapped as DateTime and allows nulls. Now I want to do a SQL-Select (in a SqlDataSource) like SELECT * FROM My_Table Where (([End] = @EndDate) OR ([End] = null)) @EndDate is a valid DateTime, but the second OR condition doesn't work. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a requirement to be able to calculate the transit time between international locations when I have the flight departure time and flight arrival times and departure and arrival locations.
We have a problem though, in that the datetime stored are local times, and the journeys can involve crossing the international date line in either direction, so it is possible for the arrival time to be earlier than the departure time!
To give a famous example, if you flew Concorde from London to Washington, you could depart at 10am on the 1st of June (London time) and arrive at 8.00am on 1st June (Washington time)
Even worse, you could leave Brisbane at 2.00 am on the 1st June, cross the International Date Line and arrive at San Francisco at 23:00 on 31st May!

Hi allI am using .jpg images in my application, I am currently storing all my images in a file location, and placing their file path in the database. The problem with this is that I cannot display the images in crystal reports (version with vs.net 2005). I can however display the images if I store them as bytes in an image data type in my db.So the question is should I store either the file path of the bytes of the image in the database table? Every time that I create a new user I have to create userCode (for internal use).
userCode should be created from first letter of the FirstName, first letter from LastName and a number.
Example:
firstName: lastName: userCode:

Ann Smith as1

If same userCode already exist the in the same Industry and in the same Company and in the same Office then createCode function should increment the number (the third character of the userCode) up to 9
I never did this before.

In each record many of the values are simply checkboxes.
In the database for these attributes, is a good way to store the state of these checkboxes as simple as 0 for false, 1 for true?

Now the problem i'm facing is; how do I save this timesheet in a database in a way that it's easy to save and easy to query from.
I'm thinking about problems as i.e. 1st of a month is middle of the week, so I can't save it like this:

I am not sure if it is right place to ask the question. I have a store procedure in which funcitons are called and several temp tables are created. When I use sql analyzer, it runs fast. But when I called it from asp.net app, it runs slow and it waits and waits to get data and insert into temp tables and return. Though I have used with (nolock), it still not imprvoed. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have a FormView with a couple of TextBoxes, a DropDownList and two CheckBoxes. I have connected a SQLDataSource to the FormView with an InsertCommand to store the values entered into the different conrtrols. My problem is that the boolean values from the two CheckBoxes doesn't get stored in the Database (SQL Server Express). The columns in the DB are of type "bit", should I choose a different type? I don't see any errors just a NULL value in the DB.
I'm probably missing the obvious taken that I'm really fresh to this, so any help would be appreciated...

Hello, I am very new to ASP.NET and SQL Server. I am a college student and just working on some project to self teaching myself them both. I am having a issue. I was wondering if anyone could help me.
Ok, I am creating a web app that will help a company to help with inventory. The employee's have cretin equipment assign to them (more then one equipment can be assigned). I have a search by equipment and employee, to search by equipment the entire database even then equipment that isn't assigned with the employee's it shows only that employees and if they have any equipment. They can select a recorded to edit or see the details of the record. The problem i am having is that the Info page will not load right. I am redirected the Serial Number and EmployeeID to the info page. I got everything working except one thing. If a person has more then one equipment when i click on the select it redirect and only shows the first record not the one I selected. and when i change it, a employee that doesn't have equipment will not show up totally.

Also, when a user selects the select button in either Employee search or Equipment search it redirects them to info.aspx. Should I create a different aspx page for both? But I don't believe I should do that. I don't know if I gave you enough information or not. But if you could give examples that would be wonderful! Thanks so much Nickie
