Displaying All On A Report When Select All Is Chosen From A Multi-value Parameter

New user here. I've got a report with a couple of multi-value parameters and I'm displaying the selected values on the report using = Join(Parameters!ReportingGroup.Value, ", "). This works properly.
The users now want the report to display "All" if "Select All" is chosen, rather than showing the whole list.
Can anybody help me with this? I'm thinking of using an IIF statement in my expression, but have no idea how to define the condition?

Poorly Chosen Query Plan
Oct 12, 2000I'm running the same query on two computers but getting a different query plan. On one of the servers, the query returns in 10 seconds, on the other server it takes over a minute. What the heck!
1. same hardware configuration on both computers
2. same user databases on both computers
3. same NT setup on both computers
4. same software installed on both computers
I can only imagine that MSSQL7 was setup differently and the query optimizer is making a stupid choice. I've compared numerous SQL server options and they are both the same.
1. sp_configure (same on both computers)
2. properties sheet on each server from enterprise manager (same on both computers)
any ideas???

Deselect All On Multivalue Paramater When Other Value Is Chosen

I use "All" as default value in my parameters, my parameters are multivalue.
Now if a user chooses a value it will mark the value but the All will also remain marked. Isn't there a way that it deselects the all when one or more individual values are chosen ?
I thought that the reporting services just didn't have that functionality but someone told me that its possible but i haven't found it anywhere.
Excel DM Add-ins: How Are Highlight Exceptions Rows Chosen?
Mar 3, 2008When I first looked at the query behind highlight exceptions, I assumed that PredictCaseLikelihood() was the basis for deciding which rows to flag, but a closer look at the sample data shows this not to be the case. For example, looking at the "Table Analysis Tools Sample" table in the DMAddins_SampleData workbook, ID 11147 is highlighted while ID 11378 is not. Training a cluster model via DMX on this same dataset shows these rows having PredictCaseLikelihood values of 0.165 and 0.158 respectively.
Does anyone have an idea what methodology is used to select the Outlier rows? And once those rows are selected, how are the suspect columns within that row chosen?
Appreciate any clues or directions.
Trying To Force Package To Run Under Chosen Domain Account
Aug 23, 2007I have a package that needs to be executed from a webpage, which I can get to INITIATE fine. The page calls a stored procedure which in turn starts a package (use DTExec and xp_cmdshell). The problem is that the package reads/writes to flat files that the most accounts do not have rights to. That being the case I get errors that the file doesn't exists. The package was developed by using a domain account which does have access to the files so it obviously runs fine in BIDS.
How do I force the stored package to run under that account when being called by a stored procedure? I've done this with scheduled jobs because I can use a proxy account. Is there something simlilar that I can do vis DTExec?
Chosen Datatype For Primary Key Field And Performance Questions??

I have been hired for a couple of weeks to investigate the performance of a sql server 2000 system.
One of the things that strikes me is that all the Primary key (identity field) fileds uses an decimal(18,0) as it's datatype.
An decimal with a precision of 18,0 takes 9 bytes for each column, while an int takes only 4 bytes and and bigint 8 bytes.
Many tables aren't that big, so the values will fit in an int datatype.
1. Is iot a good option to change the decimals columns to an int column ?
2. Many of these columns are indexed by a clustered index. Can the decimal datatype be a performance issue ?
3. sometimes they have deadlocks due page splits. Can this by reduced by changing the data types, while more data fit's into an page?

I'm attempting to use the following code to display either 'All' or the date value selected by the user from a Report parameter;
=iif(Parameters!FromCheckOutDateDate.Value.ToString = "[Check Out Date].[Date].[All]", "All", "From Date: " + Parameters!FromCheckOutDateDate.Value.ToString.Substring(26,10))
This is throwing an error ('#Error').
I can use the following code with no error, though its not as useful;
=iif(Parameters!FromCheckOutDateDate.Value.ToString = "[Check Out Date].[Date].[All]", "All", "Not all")
I can even use this to display the selected value (i.e. 2007-01-01);
Parameters!FromCheckOutDateDate.Value.ToString.Substring(26,10)
Why can't I use them both in my iif statement?
Can someone please help?
Power Pivot :: Sessions Conducted In X Years Prior To Chosen Financial Year
Jun 25, 2015I have a simple 2 column dataset representing Date of session and Client Name (Please download workbook from here - [URL] .... The Financial Year runs from April 1 to March 31. I want to determine the number of sessions conducted in chosen financial year - 2. So if I select FY 2015-16 in a slicer, then, I want view the number of session conducted client wise in FY 2013-14. This is the formula calculated field formula I have written but when I drag this in the Pivot Table, I get an error message. In the calculated field window, when I click on Check for errors, then there are no errors at all.

I was trying to extract data from the source server using OLEDB Source and SQL Server Destination when i encountered this error:
"Transaction (Process ID 135) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.".
What must be done so that even if the table being queried is locked, i wouldn't experience any deadlock?

I have two mult-value parameters in my report. Both of them working with selecting one or more values. But, when I test using "(Select All)" values for both parameters , only one parameter works. The "available values" for these two parameters are both from the data set.

I have a year_id parameter that sets a report variable named dataset_chosen. I have varified that these are working correctly together.
I have attempted populating table cell data to display from the chosen dataset. As yet to no avail.

Multiple Tables Select Performance - SQL 2005 - Should It Take 90 Seconds For A Select?
Dec 4, 2007I have a problem where my users complain that a select statement takes too long, at 90 seconds, to read 120 records out of a database.
The select statement reads from 9 tables three of which contain 1000000 records, the others contain between 100 and 250000 records.
I have checked that each column in the joins are indexed - they are (but some of them are clustered indexes, not unclustered).
I have run the SQL Profiler trace from the run of the query through the "Database Engine Tuning Advisor". That just suggested two statistics items which I added (no benefit) and two indexes for tables that are not involved at all in the query (I didn't add these).
I also ran the query through the Query window in SSMS with "Include Actual Execution Plan" enabled. This showed that all the execution time was being taken up by searches of the clustered indexes.
I have tried running the select with just three tables involved, and it completes fast. I added a fourth and it took 7 seconds. However there was no WHERE clause for the fourth table, so I got a cartesian product which might have explained the problem.
So my question is: Is it normal for such a type of read query to take 90 seconds to complete?
Is there anything I could do to speed it up.
Any other thoughts?

This works great if there is at least one OP coverage. There are 3 tables in which to get information which are the patient table, the coverage table, and the coverage history table. The coverage table links to the patient table via pat_id and it tells me the patient's coverage plan and in which priority to bill. The coverage history table links to the patient and coverage table via patient id and coverage plan and it gives me the effective date.

One of the parameter is a multi-select enabled parameter and I suppressed the value "All" showing as one of the item in the drop down list, simply by filter out the [bha].[bha].CURRENTMEMBER.LEVEL.ORDINAL to 1, as "(Select All)" is pre-assigned to the drop list when multi-select is enabled and it is confusing to show "(Select All)" and "All" in the drop list. However I have another report which is linked to this report and the value which is required to pass to this report for this parameter is "All". Can I pass the "Select All" as a parameter from the other report? If so, how? Thanks.

INSERT-SELECT Depending On The Select:ed Order
Aug 15, 2006I'm doing a INSERT...SELECT where I'm dependent on the records SELECT:ed to be in a certain order. This order is enforced through a clustered index on that table - I can see that they are in the proper order by doing just the SELECT part.
However, when I do the INSERT, it doesn't work (nothing is inserted) - can the order of the records from the SELECT part be changed internally on their way to the INSERT part, so to speak?
Actually - it is a view that I'm inserting into, and there's an instead-of-insert trigger on it that does the actual insertions into the base table. I've added a "PRINT" statement to the trigger code and there's just ONE record printed (there should be millions).

Aug 22, 2006have a table with students details in it, i want to select all the students who joined a class on a particular day and then i need another query to select all students who joined classes over the course of date range eg 03/12/2003 to 12/12/2003.
i have tried with the following query, i need help putting my queries together
select * from tblstudents where classID='1' and studentstartdate between ('03/12/2004') and ('03/12/2004')
when i run this query i get this message

The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
the studentstartdate field is set as datetime 8 and the date looks like this in the table 03/12/2004 03:12:15
