Stored Procedures 2005 Vs Stored Procedures 2000

Sep 30, 2006

Hi,

This Might be a really simple thing, however we have just installed SQL server 2005 on a new server, and are having difficulties with the set up of the Store Procedures. Every time we try to modify an existing stored procedure it attempts to save it as an SQL file, unlike in 2000 where it saved it as part of the database itself.

Thank you in advance for any help on this matter

Stored Procedures In Sql 2005 Vs. 2000

Jun 11, 2007

Hi!
I use sql 2005 express on my computer for testing. The server that hosts my site is a sql 2000 server. Therefore I tuned the one database I use down to sql 8.
When I create stored procedures from web developer express, to the local sql 8 database I have in my sql express, it works nice. But when I copy all my files and my stored procedure to the webhost, it doesn't work.

Do you guys have any suggestions?
 Thanks in advance.

Running Scheduled Stored Procedures MSSQL 2000/2005

Jul 15, 2007

Hi allI am looking for the best method to automate a website's database management. Lets say I have a user registration database and the users register. This sends an automated email to the user with a link to activate the users registration. If the user does not register within 24 hours, his registration must be automatically deleted from the database using a stored procedure.I know how to do this using the global.aspx file, however there must be an alternative way of doing this, especially if the database is an SQL database. I do not know how much MSSQL server access is given to a developer by an as ISP who hosts the website. Can anyone tell me what would be the best method to use.ThxWarren

Transfer Only The Stored Procedures To A Remote Server.

Jan 23, 2006

Hi,
I uploaded a database to a remote server (ISP) who has SQL2005 as do I. They got the database okay, but not all the stored procedures went along for the ride
Can anyone tell me how to just simply transfer the stored procedures only to the remote server?
Failing that, can you tell me how to export the entire database and be sure that it all goes, not just the tables. I assume you would have to do this via a script because the export wizard only lets you copy the files and I have dome this but the stored procedures do go along.
Any help?

Transfer New And Existent Stored Procedures From One Server To Another

Sep 7, 2006

I am trying to copy several stored procedures from one server to another.

I am using Transfer SQL Server Objects Task in integration services.

Some of the stored procedures already exist on the destination server and should be overwritten and part of them is new.

I turned DropObjectsFirst option on.

Package fails to execute and returns error that the procedure can't be dropped on the destination server because it doesn't exist.

Does anybody know how to configure the task so it automatically check the existense of copying stored procedure on the destination server?

Transfer SQL Server Objects Task Not Working With Stored Procedures

Sep 17, 2007

I'm unable to copy my Stored Procedures from one database to another. I'm using mixed mode authentication. I have set CopyAllStoredProcedures to True, DropObjectsFirst to True and CopySchema to True.

Nothing gets copied. I have followed many web sites that say Transfer SQL Server Objects Task is broken. Is this true and I should give up?

Also, I'm on SQL 2005 SP2 which appears to be the latest and I assume is the update for SSIS? yes ?

Thanks for any help

Migrating SQL Server 2000 Stored Procedures To SQL Server 2005

I have successfully moved my data from a SQL Server 2000 hosting site to a SQL Server 2005 hosting site. I Made a backup of my database using Enterprise Manager (2000) and imported the database tables using SQL Server Management Studio (2005). I do not know how to move the 25 or so stored procedures that I have in SQL Server 2000. I have a very short amount of time to figure this out and am hoping that someone can give me a brief step by step answer on how to get this done. I would appreciate any information you can provide. Sql 2000 Copy To Sql 2005 Loses Identity Seeds In Transfer

Feb 3, 2006

I have a database that I am trying to copy to sql server 2005 and when I copy it the "Identity Seed" property loses its value.

I have tried to use the "Export" method by right clicking on the database then going to "Tasks" then "Export Data"
This copies all of the data but it removes the "Identity Seed" value.

When I run the "copy database" function it will also copy all of the data in the database but it will still not keep the "Identity Seed" value

I have many tables in the database with the identity seed field set to 1 on the primary key so that it will automatically create the primary key for each record.
Without this errors will occur in my web application because it thinks that I am trying to enter a null value into the primary key when it is supposed to auto populate.
When I export it with sql server 2005 it turns it back to zero.
The export function worked fine in Sql server 2000

The only way I can get it to work is by backing up the database and restoring it, but this is very time consuming and adds many steps to the process, and also makes it so that I have to overwrite my old database with the same name.

Is there a way to use the export function or the copy database function to retain the Identity Seed value

I really need this to continue do the switch to 2005 server. It seems like this may be a bug of some sort

Have Transferred Database && Users From Sql 2000 To 2005 But How Do I Transfer Their Permissions ?

Aug 14, 2007

We are currently running sql 2000 and are moving our database onto sql 2005 running on a different box.

We have managed to move the entire database, with users however the users permissions on specific tables/views/stored procedures have not been transferred, does anyone know a way of transferring user permissions rather then doing them all by hand?

The system is a large (over 500 table/views/stored procedures) and a very active one and therefore downtime is not optional.

any suggestions would be appreciated

Restored SQL 2000 Backup, Stored Procedures Don't Work

May 6, 2006

Hello
I have restored a SQL 2000 backup of my database, ever since my web applications are unable to use any of the stored procedures.
I get the following error:
Could not find stored procedure 'xxx'.

If I use enterprise manager and go to the procedures tab the procedure appears there.

Any ideas what is up?

PS: The username has been changed, before the backup it was "user1" now its something else. For some reason it still shows that the procedure object is owned by "user1". Could this be the problem?

Thanks in advance.
