Reporting Services :: How To Split Merged Cells
Oct 27, 2015I am trying to split cells that are merged as part of a grouped report. Am using the right-button menu and pressing "Split Cells" when it appears but it just splits into two parts and not into single cells or rows. When I right-button on one of the parts that came out of the split, I do not get a "Split Cells" to break it down further. Want to be able to split the grouped cells into individual cells or rows and have the rows be different colors. How can I do this?

Oct 7, 2015I have a report that is using the following expression for one of the fields:
=Split(Fields!FromAccount.Value, " ")(1)
The format of the number is xxxxx-xxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
So the function is to grab the second section of numbers after the space. The query for this report can bring back 1 to many results which equals one to many pages.
I have an issue where the query returns three results. The first page will display the correct number, the second page displays #Error and the third displays the number.
When I run the query from Management Studio I see the numbers are as follows:
xxxxx-xxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxx-xxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxx-xxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
Note the first and and last lines have extra spaces which I thought would be the cause of the problem though I would've expected the #Error to appear on the first and third page rather than the second one.
When I remove the extra space for the first and third number all three pages display their values correctly.
However, there are many, many numbers in the table that have one to two spaces. These numbers are from a spreadsheet that is imported biweekly. So it was either I fix the spreadsheet before every import or I come up with a new expression to check for one or two spaces. This is what I came up with:
=IIF (Fields!FromAccount.Value.Contains(" "), Split(Fields!FromAccount.Value, " ")(1),Split(Fields!FromAccount.Value, " ")(1))
Now, the first page displays the number correctly while the second and third page displays with the #Error. Basically I want to say if the value contains two spaces then split at the two spaces otherwise split at the one space.
Reporting Services :: Split Report Into Multiple PDFs During Windows Fileshare Delivery
Jun 3, 2015I have a report that groups a particular dataset by customer, with a page break between each customer. If print this report, it looks great - one page per customer.
What I would like to do is have the report deployed on schedule to a windows file share, one .pdf file per customer. How to parse the output into individual .pdfs (one per customer) instead of a single .pdf containing all customers? I get it if this is not possible.
My current (painful) workaround would be to replicate the report for each potential customer, and set a schedule for each report to deploy sequentially. (Customer 1 at 9:00, Customer 2 at 9:01, etc).
Currently on SQL Server/Visual Studio 2008.

Migrate From 32bit 2000 Reporting Services To 2005 64bit Reporting Services

I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database

Compatibility Of SQL Express Reporting Services With SQL 2000 Reporting Services
Dec 6, 2006I'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets?
Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.

Oct 29, 2015I'm trying to write a conditional split where I want to bring in only records where the date is less than today, but my problem is that I can't simply do this Column < GetDate() because if something comes in today, it takes the time into account and it will bring that record for today. You can do this in SQL, but I'm not sure how to do that in SSIS

May 21, 2015I was to split each record into multiple columns. The problem is some records need to be split into only 1 column, others may need to be split into more. Also need to remove the "/"'s. This is all dependent on where a "/" is found. Been beating my head for a while and getting nowhere.
So:
create table #foo (myPK int, c1 nvarchar(425))
insert into #foo values (1,'/folder1')
insert into #foo values (2,'/lvl1/folder2')

Jun 10, 2015I have a table that I am using in a package to create an extract from. In that table is an address field called "Street" that is 255 characters in length. My table also has 3 additional fields called address_1, address_2 and address_3 that are each 50 characters in length because that is the requirement for my extract. I need to split the address field up in such a way that if it is longer than 50 characters, it backs up to the first space in the address prior to character #50, puts that info in street1, then from that cut off point used in street1, puts the next 50 up to the prior blank space in street2, then the remainder in street3. Where the extract will be used only has three 50 character fields so if the data runs more than 150 characters, the street3 data will just have to be truncated. No way around that, but I don't anticipate any address getting close to that long. Although doing such a split would be much easier using SQL, the solution requirement is that it be done in the package, not using SQL to do so.
I'm assuming I need to use a "derived column transformation" in my data flow. But, I can't figure out how to do what I need to do with a derived column transformation.
Example of info in an address:
123 Chicamauga Avenue South, Across the Street from International Center Square, Apartment Number 17650 Tokiwa-machi Machida
position 1-50:
123 Chicamauga Avenue South, Across the Street fro

Aug 12, 2015I'm encountering a very peculiar situation when I'm trying to compare source and target data using conditional split. Following is the Data Flow and how I'm trying to achieve this.
Source Data : Col_A (PK) Col_2
1 100
8 500
Target Data : Col_A (PK) Col_2
1 100
3 700
8 500
Look-up Target on Col_A to check for existing records. Now we have four columns in Look-up match output: Col_A, Col_B, Lkp_Col_A (Target Col), Lkp_Col_B (Target Col).
Conditional Split: Compare Col_B with Lkp_Col_B
Update target if there is any change in the existing value of Col_B.When I'm running the package for every record in source, the conditional split fails and even when there is no change in Col_B, some of the records (Not all and quite randomly) get updated with the same value. If I run the package for few records, it works absolutely fine.

When I write the conditional split ((ISNULL(Atype)?"a":Atype)!=(ISNULL(CType)?"9":CType)) it says that the DT_WSTR and DT_I4 types are incompatible and that I need to explicitly cast with a cast operator. I haven't been able to make it work, how to explicitly cast?

May 8, 2015I have a Problem with my destinations. I have a split condition with two ways the flow can use.
In this case: all and Date.
All and Date can be set by using a variable. Its working good.
When a user fills the variable with a date value (cast to string) the conditional split executes the correct flow with all the needed rows... The same time the all flow will be executed with 0 rows. In the end the destionation file for the all values will be overwritten with nothing. The same on the other hand when a user fills the variable with the all value, the date file is empty. What can i do to make sure that the files are not empty?

First column values are table names which are already exists in target database. Next two columns[Desc],[Code] data gets populate from CSV file to table.
In this scenario, how to load tab1 data into the same table in destination and so on.
Which way will be more standard to accomplish this task? If its a script task using C#, looking for clear script to identify a value changes in the first column.
Integration Services :: SSIS Split Single Input File Data Over Multiple Tables?
Sep 30, 2015I have a delimited text file with 650+ columns. The sum of the column lengths of a single row, if fully populated, exceeds 30K bytes. The "killer" fields lengthwise are the "Description" fields. If they were removed from the input file, the remainig columns would occupy about 5000 bytes, which is within SQL max row length.
Can SSIS be used to created these two tables? (one without description fields, the other with those field but arranged vertically in the table rows).
The fundamental issue is I can not import a single file row into a sql table because that row length could exceed the max byte count for a row.
To Access Reporting Sevices (Report Manager, Reporting Web Services), Does One Has To Be An Admin On The Machine

Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?

I've few options down...
1. Directly point to OLTP database as source and write stored procedure to show result set.
2. Replicate the database and write the SP's to reports. To avoid pointing directly to OLTP db.
3. To build the datawarehouse with dim & facts to show it in reports. I prefer this as a standard method, but this would have some latency depending on trasaction load which will differ from the requirement.
Reporting Services ReportServer DB Reporting - 3rd Party Tool ?

Which reports were requested, by whom , how long did they run for, what parameters were passed etc etc.
I see that the system tables do provide some of this information, is there a 3rd party tool or something we can use to gather all this type of information for us?
This is for reporting services 2000 and 2005.

SQL 2005 SP2 Reporting Services And Window SharePoint Services V3 Integration Config Issue

I have just install SQL 2005 SP2 and trying to get Window SharePoint Services V3 integrated with SQL 2005 SP2 reporting services.
In SharePoint Central Administration, I select the Reporting Services Integration page and have setup the Report Server Web Service URL and Authentication Mode. I then goto Grant database access, specify the SQL server name, get promted for a username and password that has access SQL Reportserver and get the following error "The group name could not be found"
Does anyone have any ideas?

Reporting Services :: SSRS 2008 R2 - HTTP Error 503 - The Services Is Unavailable
Jul 23, 2010We built our prod server [vm] with SQL Server 2008 R2 on Server 2008 R2. It works nicely. Then we made a copy of the VM and renamed it (so our test environment would be IDENTICAL to production). After that, SSRS was broken: I get "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." I can't connect via http, or SSMS.
We have tried:
* Running SSRS config tool (several times)
* Running with/without the IIS Server Role
* Dropping & recreating the SSRS keys
* Recreating the ReportServer database, etc
* Checking all of the accounts, permissions, etc
* Running SQL Repair
* Going through the registry to fix any references to the machine's old name
* Uninstalling, reinstalling SSRS
* Completely uninstalling ALL of the parts of SQL Server 2008 R2, deleting all directories, removing references to SQL Server from the registry, rebooting, reinstalling everything.
None of this has worked. SSRS [R2] is still 503 on our test box.
the SSRS [NT] service seems to run, without error. The Event Viewer doesn't seem to be recording any errors. The SSRS logs say that the default URL is wrong, but we get the same error in Prod, and Prod works fine. The other SQL Logs say something about not being able to contact the service. However, as I said, the [NT] service seems to be working fine.
Reporting Services - Analysis Services - Displaying Dimension Members As Columns

I have an MDX query - that works fine in SQL Enterprise Manager, and has my dimension members on columns, and my measures on the rows. When I try the same query in Reporting Services, I get the error:
"The query cannot be prepared: The query must have at least one axis. The first axis of the query should not have multiple hierarchies, nor should it reference any dimension other than the Measures dimension..
Parameter name: mdx (MDXQueryGenerator)"
Although it works when you pivot the view, I really need my data presented with the members on the columns and the measures on the rows. Another forum post mentioned using the SQL 9.0 driver, but I can't see this listed anywhere (the only one I see is the .NET framework Data Provider for Microsoft Analysis Services).
Here's what my query looks like -

I'm trying to create reports in RS2005 using AS2000 as my data source. I understand that if I use RS2005 on AS2000, I wont be able to enjoy the OLAP based parameters as in using AS2005. Does anyone know an easy way to easily use Parameters in RS2005 while still using AS2000?

My sample report has few parameters that must be passed so I pass these parameters with code.

Actually, I have several more parameters but I've checked the collection and all the parameters I want are there and have values. Their names match those found in executionInfo.Parameters. But when I run my code I get the following error on Render():

I've double-checked and my parameter array does have the problematic parameter, I passed it a value but when I check executionInfo.Parameters I see that it's the only parameter that hasn't been give a default value after calling SetExecutionParameters(). So my parameters do seem to be passed but one seems to refuse getting a value. If I comment out the SetExecutionParameters() line I get, as expected a similar error but on another parameter (first one in the executionInfo.Parameters collection). So I'm left to beleive that the SetExecutionParameters() has some kind of bug as it works for all but one parameter. I've checked casing, spelling, tried passing phony parameters and from what I've seen I should be getting an error when I pass the parameters if I got something wrong.
Any help would be much appreciated.
