Hi,I would like to know details about the table name starts with prefixin sql server 2000.Actually i'm working on existing code. The existing code insert a record into a table, but the table name inthe code and table name in database are differentTable name in database : tbl_mmm_oxIn coding they are using table name as mmm only, the records areproperly inserted into mmm tableis it possible? The sample code is like that(using ado object)oCmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO mmm (no,name) values (1,"mm")"The above code is perfectly working and inserting record intotbl_mmm_ox.Could anybody explain how is it possible?whether we can leave the prefix(tbl) and suffix(ox) and sql servertake care of this? Thanks & Regards,Mani
Copy a table from my main SQL server database to Temp, starting at a particular row. Ex: Only include row 1,000 to 1,999 (end row.)
I've been using DTS Wizard to CREATE TABLE, and it's working fine, but I searched and searched in google and this forum and I can't find how to "start at particular row" when creating table.
I need to change my usernames in a column from JSmith to ABCSmith. What would be my update statement to make that change? I need something that would basically start at position 1, for a length of 1, then use that to replace with ABC...
Here is what I have been trying:
UPDATE tblusers, SET userLoginID = replace(userloginID, 1, 'ABC')
Hello Everyone, I have a dataset that I created from an external database using an ODBC connection. I would like to take that dataset and create a new table in an SQL 2005 database. Can anyone point me in the right direction. The problem that I am having right now is getting the object types etc.
I am reading a CSV file into a dataset and trying to insert this dataset into an existing SQL table. The problem I am having lies in the fact that the dataset I have contains 2 columns, and the SQL table has 20+ columns. I can't get any data to be inserted into the SQL table from the dataset, I really don't know what I am doing wrong here. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Public Function DatasetToSQL() As DataSet
Dim ds As DataSet Dim dr As DataRow Dim da As SqlDataAdapter Dim punchtime As String Dim eventtype As String Dim sqlconn As New SqlConnection(GetConnectionString())
Try ds = ConnectCSV() sqlconn.Open() For Each dr In ds.Tables(0).Rows punchtime = ds.Tables(0).Rows.Item(0).ToString eventtype = ds.Tables(0).Rows.Item(1).ToString da = New SqlDataAdapter("INSERT INTO ClockData (DateTime, EventTypeID) VALUES (" + punchtime + "," + eventtype + ")", sqlconn) da.Update(ds, "CSVData") Next
Just when I thought I was starting to understand SSRS just a little and then I encounter a strange (maybe not too strange) of an issue.
I have a DataSet which runs a stored procedure and it requires 10 parameters. When I run it in the dataset portion itself it runs fine however, it will not work when I choose to Preview it. I refreshed my dataset and even rebooted my machine. Can anybody shed some light on this?
Scenario: I have created a dataset from an excel file to display it on a screen. Now I would like to save this same dataset in a SQL Server table. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have a stored procedure that returns a set of tables based on data in a table for a company. These tables are being used to create drop down lists for criteria selection for the client. We have a Javascript based control that will make use of these based on the control name. So... ideally, I would like the stored procedure to return tables named "EmployeeID", "ResourceName", so that I can accurately name the controls when they are being created. The data that is returned is not static, so, for example, client 1 may see the EmployeeID drop down, while client 2 may not. I searched and didnt see anyone that was able to accomplish this in this way, but wanted to post something here before I moved forward in a different direction. I am thinking that I will likely return an extra table with the field names and their corresponding tables (i.e. "EmployeeID"/"Table0", "ResourceName"/"Table1", etc...) Thanks, Josh
Hi, OK, trying to return the results from two SQL statements into a DataSet using SqlDataAdapter. The SELECT statements query the same table but are looking for different records based on the date that the records were inserted - the 1st query looks for records fro the current month and the 2nd one looks at the same records but for the previous month. The goal is to be able to do some math within a repeater and get the difference between the two records. Sounds easy enough and it has worked for me in different variations of the same idea but not this time - here's the code: Protected Sub buildPartsReport(ByVal varHC) objConn.Open() sSQL = "SELECT ap.id,item_model,item_sn,aircraft_id,item_loc=item_type+ ' on ' +(SELECT tnum FROM T_Aircraft WHERE id=aircraft_id),apt.tot_time As endTimes,apt.tot_cycles as endCycles FROM T_Aircraft_Parts ap, T_Aircraft_Parts_Totals apt WHERE ap.id=apt.part_id AND report_date= '" & rD & "' AND item_type LIKE 'engine%';SELECT ap.id,apt.part_id,apt.tot_time as startTimes,apt.tot_cycles as startCycles FROM T_Aircraft_Parts ap, T_Aircraft_Parts_Totals apt WHERE ap.id=apt.part_id AND report_date= '" & oldRD & "' AND item_type LIKE 'engine%'" Dim objCommand As New SqlDataAdapter(sSQL, objConn) DS = New DataSet() objCommand.Fill(DS) Repeater1.DataSource = DS Repeater1.DataBind() DS.Dispose() objCommand.Dispose() objConn.Close() End Sub Sorry if it wrapped a bit. The "rD" and "oldRD" are the variables for the date ranges (currently set to static numbers for testing). I'm getting the following error when I run this on an ASP.Net page: System.Web.HttpException: DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the name 'startTimes'. The code works fine when run via the Query Tool on the SQL server (SQL 2005 Std) though it produces two distinct "tables" which I'm guessing is the problem. I've tried variations on the code including creating a 2nd dataset and then attempting a merge (no joy) and I've tried the ".TableName" route but it complains about trying to add the tablename twice. Thoughts? I need to get this to work - it is part of a reporting component for an application that I'm developing and I'm stuck. Thanks as always...
No more results. (9 row(s) returned) @RETURN_VALUE = 0
All of the tables have the same header row, but are a seperate table. From my experience, I am not able to bind more than one table to a datagrid. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can go about displaying this full dataset on my aspx page? I've been going in circles on this for two days, so I'm open to any suggestions :)
if a dataset doesnt use a stored proc to define a table variable, what is the scope of that table variable? Does the name need to be unique from such variables defined by other datasets?
Is it possible to combine a stored procedure result set and a table into one dataset? For example, if I have a stored procedure with field "TradeID", and a table with "TradeID", can I join the them in a dataset?
I'm all very new to SQL Reporting Services so I am hoping that someone will be able to help me.
I have two datsets. Both contain the same array of information pertaining to a particular site. For example, how much sales we had, how much revenue was made, how much commission was created at the end of each day, the usual kind of metrics. We have a stored procedure which takes a final total and puts into a table we can access by date.
I want to produce a report that can compare the data from two dates. I use two datasets to run the quries that will return the relevant data. The only thing that differs between the dataset is the date that the data is based on. So to say first dataset will have data on one date and the second dataset will have data on a another date.
I was trying to make a table where I could include fields from both datasets, mainly for making comparison easier.
so id have
columns online hits (dateone) | online hits (datetwo) Rows Data date1 | Data date2
and so on.
in fact i had this as the data from the first dataset in an example field: =Fields!OnlineSales.Value
but i couldnt get the second dataset to work even if i tried entering : =(Fields!OfflineBookings.Value, "SecondDatePicker")
I can't get the table to include field results from the second dataset as a table can only be linked to one dataset.
I am mapping an entity from SQL 2005 to another entity in another system on SQL 2000. Since the destination system has its own ID generator, I want to keep the generated ID for each row of my table in a column of my table in SQL 2005. The new column is in the dataset now , but I don't know how to update my table to have that column values (The OleDbDestination just insert new items.)
so that everything is then driven from a single selected Quarter value, the table report no longer gets populated, as it has hardcoded field values such as
I have a dataset that when run returns 270 rows. The table using the dataset in the report only prints the first row. I have the table grouped by a status type, but this is for when I can get multi-select paramenters installed and working. For now I just need the report to print all the returned rows. Help!!
I am working on creating a report which is retrieving data from a SQL 2005 database and being displayed in a C#.net web page. Presently, I am binding the dataset to a ASP:Gridview on the web page. I am currently retrieving most of the needed fields using the following SQL statement:PROCEDURE [dbo].[pr_getReportTickets] @DateCreated nvarchar(15) ASBEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON; -- Insert statements for procedure hereSELECT tbl_Queue.num_TicketNumber AS TicketID , tbl_Users.str_Name AS Technician , tbl_Queue.str_QueueLocator AS TechNTID , tbl_Queue.dat_ReceivedRequest AS dateCreated , tbl_Queue.dat_DueDate AS DueDate , tbl_Queue.str_TaskName AS TicketTitle , tbl_Queue.str_Requestor AS RequestorNTID --, I need most current dat_TimeStamp from tbl_Notes here for this record --, I need most current int_PercentComplete from tbl_Notes here for this record --, I need to sum up all of int_MinutesWorked fields from tbl_Notes here for this record , MasterEmp.dbo.fn_FormatFullName(tbl_employee.str_fname, tbl_employee.str_lname) AS RequestorName , tbl_Queue.str_TicketType AS TicketType , tbl_Status.str_TaskStatus AS TicketStatus , tbl_Severity.str_Priority , tbl_Complexity.str_Complexity , tbl_Severity.str_Priority + N' / ' + tbl_Complexity.str_Complexity AS Priority , tbl_Queue.dat_CompleteDate as DateCompleted FROM dbo.tbl_Queue LEFT OUTER JOIN MasterEmp.dbo.tbl_employee AS tbl_employee ON dbo.tbl_Queue.str_Requestor = tbl_employee.str_ntid LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_Users ON tbl_Queue.str_QueueLocator = tbl_Users.str_ntid LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_Status ON tbl_Queue.num_Status_CD = tbl_Status.num_Status_CD LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_Severity ON tbl_Queue.str_Severity = tbl_Severity.str_Severity LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_Complexity ON tbl_Queue.int_ComplexID = tbl_Complexity.int_ComplexID WHERE (dbo.tbl_Queue.dat_ReceivedRequest > CONVERT(DATETIME, @DateCreated, 102)) ORDER BY TicketType, tbl_Queue.str_Severity I also have another table called tbl_Notes. This table contains an unlimited quantity of records for every “num_TicketNumber. This table contains the following fields: num_TicketNumber, str_TechRep, str_Notes, dat_TimeStamp, int_PercentComplete and int_MinutesWorked I need to add two more fields to the query, but I do not know how to tell the SQL statement how to retrieve the data for the specfic record and inbed the fields into the Dataset being returned from the database to the web page.1) The first field I need is the most current recorded Date field from the tbl_Notes table for the each of the records returned in the above SQL statement. Similar to: SELECT TOP (1) dat_TimeStamp FROM tbl_Notes WHERE(num_TicketNumber = xxxx) ORDER BY dat_TimeStamp DESC2) The other field I need to return with the Dataset is the sum of the int_MinutesWorked for each of the tickets being retrieved. Similar to: SELECT SUM(int_MinutesWorked) AS TotalMinutesFROM tbl_Notes WHERE (num_TicketNumber = 49)
Hello, I created this DataTable, add rows of data to it, and then display the data on to a form via a repeater. Dim ds As DataSet = New DataSetDim dtTableName As DataTable = New DataTable("dtTableName") dtTableName.Columns.Add("Description")dtTableName.Columns.Add("ItemNumber")dtTableName.Columns.Add("Quantity")dtTableName.Columns.Add("Price")ds.Tables.Add(dtTableName) What I need to do now is create a table in SQL Server and update the database with the data I've collect in my dataset. How do I bind and update this data to a sql server table? Thanks!James
I have a dataset that was created via a source + lookups + derived columns.
I wish to take this dataset and treat is as a table within a sql statement so that I can update a permanent table with the a specific value within the temp dataset.
In sql this is what I am trying to do:
SELECT COUNT(*) AS Count_of_Employees, DEPT FROM Employees GROUP BY DEPT
UPDATE Departments SET Number_of_Employees = Count_of_Employees WHERE Dept = dept.
I have an existing call to a webservice that updates an MDB with data from a dataset. I was now moving to a process using SQL Compact Edition sdf instead of an mdb.
I belive I have to DROP/Truncate the table in the SDF file, then create a new table then somehow insert the results of the retrieved dataset into the new table. DOes anybody have any pointers to help me out?
Here is my old way of doing it, using access.
Thanks.
Private Sub retrieveData(ByVal intMode As Integer) 'This process will call a webservice passing a parameter which in turn executes a SQL stored procedure, returning a dataset Dim MyObj As localhost.Service1 = New localhost.Service1 Dim ds As DataSet ds = MyObj.RetrieveSQLdata(txtSecureString, intMode) Dim myConnection As OleDbConnection Dim cmd As OleDbCommand = New OleDbCommand Dim Connstr As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & Path & FileName & ";Persist Security Info=False" myConnection = New OleDbConnection(Connstr) myConnection.Open() cmd.Connection = myConnection Dim mystr As String = "" For Each row As DataRow In ds.Tables(0).Rows mystr = "" mystr = mystr & "INSERT INTO CustMast ( " mystr = mystr & "StoreNo, CustNo, ShipNo" mystr = mystr & "values(" mystr = mystr & "'" & row("StoreNo").ToString & "', " mystr = mystr & "'" & row("CustNo").ToString & "', " mystr = mystr & "'" & row("ShipNo").ToString & "')" cmd.CommandText = mystr cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() Next System.Windows.Forms.Application.DoEvents() cmd.Dispose() myConnection.Close() myConnection.Dispose()
I have a procedure where I am inserting some elements into #Table and then finally get the datset I need. Now when I am using this procedure as dataset to my report, it throws up the following error:
Invalid object Name "#TEMP2".
The data that I retrieve is similar to the data that I get from this query in the post by Manivannan.D.Sekaran http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1871478&SiteID=1
Is it because my columns are generated on the fly that I am not able to retrieve the column headers appropriately. If so can someone suggest a way over to this?
I am not sure should I posting it here or in T-SQL Forum.
I have a database running in an instance of SQL Server.
I set this up for merge publication and then set up a SQL Server Mobile Edition Subscription to that publication. After a few oversights I got everything working. The Mobile database replicated just fine. I went back verified all data was there. Can make queries to it.
PROBLEM:
I set up a new dataset to use tables from the SQL Server Mobile database. If I drag one of the tables to the dataset, VS 2005 simply stops responding. It is not using any processor. I click any place on the application and I get the Microsoft Visual Studio Delay Notification saying:
Microsoft Visual Studio is Busy.
Microsoft Visual Studio is waiting for an internal operation to complete. If you regularly encounter this delay during normal usage, please report this problem to Microsoft.
Well... It is more than just a delay. The environment is not using any processor its just sitting here. And I left it running for 2.5 hours... so now this is becoming a big source of pain for me because I need to get that dataset working to finish my business logic. The only option I have is to Kill the process.
Hopefully someone out there can help.
Additional Services running:
IIS (Whatever version comes with Windows XP Pro. I think 5.1)
SQL Server Agent, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Broswer and SQL Server FullTextSearch
UPDATE: I am editing this post with an update.
I noticed that my other tables get added to the dataset just fine. It is when I add one particular table that the entire visual studio simply stops and starts giving the delay notification. I have no idea why this happens... nor do I see any noticeable difference between this table and the rest of them. I went back and made sure that all columns types where directly supported by SQL Mobile Edition and they are.
I have a dataset with 2 columns, a rownumber and a servername - eg
rownumber servername
1 server1
2 server2
....
15 server15
I want to display the servernames in a report so that you get 3 columns - eg
server1 | server2 | server3
server4 | server5 | server6
...
server13 | server14 | server15
I have tried using multiple tables and lists and filtering the data on each one but this then makes formating very hard - i either end up with a huge gap between columns or the columns overlap
I have also tried using a matrix control but cant find a way to do this.
Does anybody know an easy way to do this? The data comes from sql 2005 so i can use a pivot clause on the dataset if somebody knows a way to do it this way. The reporting service is also RS2005
Hi, I have an application where I'm filling a dataset with values from a table. This table has no primary key. Then I iterate through each row of the dataset and I compute the value of one of the columns and then update that value in the dataset row. The problem I'm having is that when the database gets updated by the SqlDataAdapter.Update() method, the same value shows up under that column for all rows. I think my Update Command is not correct since I'm not specifying a where clause and hence it is using just the value lastly computed in the dataset to update the entire database. But I do not know how to specify a where clause for an update statement when I'm actually updating every row in the dataset. Basically I do not have an update parameter since all rows are meant to be updated. Any suggestions? SqlCommand snUpdate = conn.CreateCommand(); snUpdate.CommandType = CommandType.Text; snUpdate.CommandText = "Update TestTable set shipdate = @shipdate"; snUpdate.Parameters.Add("@shipdate", SqlDbType.Char, 10, "shipdate"); string jdate =""; for (int i = 0; i < ds.Tables[0].Rows.Count - 1; i++) { jdate = ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["shipdate"].ToString(); ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["shipdate"] = convertToNormalDate(jdate); } da.Update(ds, "Table1"); conn.Close();
I've only been doing sql 2005 for a couple of months with minimal training so there's a lot I don't know. What I'm trying to do is load a nested table (industry & customer totals) based on a value from the table it's nested in. This is the relationship of the data. I have at the highest group, an industry code, then a customer, then the part and then the fiscal year. What I'm trying to accomplish is to get a group total (footer) for the (1) industry code and (2) the customer code. This footer would contain the fiscal years (ascending) and their monthly totals. I would like to take the industry code from table one and pass it to the select statement in the dataset that feeds the nested table. I've read this is not possible to load a dataset field into a parm but I've seen where some people know how to work around this. If you reply, please explain in simple terms. Thanks!

I am using SQL Server 2005 and trying to create a linked server on Oracle 10. I used the commands below: EXEC sp_addlinkedserver @server = 'test1', @srvproduct = 'Oracle', @provider = 'MSDAORA', @datasrc = 'testsource' exec sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname = 'test1', @useself = 'false', @rmtuser='sp', @rmtpassword='sp'
When I execute select * from test1...COUNTRY I get the error. "The OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "...." does not contain the table "COUNTRY". The table either does not exist or the current user does not have permissions on that table." The 'sp' user I am connecting is the owner of the table. What could be the problem ? Thanks a lot.
I have created a table Table with name as Varchar and id as int. Now i have started inserting the rows like, insert into Table values ('arun',20).Yes i have inserted a row in the table. Now i have got the values " arun's ", 50. insert into Table values('arun's',20) My sqlserver is giving me an error instead of inserting the row. How will you solve this problem?
