How To Use The Sum To Add Specific Data From The Table In Ssrs 2000?

Hi All,
I am new to this forum and had checked this forum for this problem that I am having. Although there were a lot of informative articles that I found useful, I still couldn't resolve this problem.
I am having a little trouble trying to use the Sum function to get the totals that I need for a project that I am trying to accomplish. The scenario is below:-
This is the report image that I want to produce.
Region1 policy1 policy2
AgentType1 Total Total
Agenttype2 Total Total
AgentType3 Total Total
Region1's policy1 Total Region1 Policy2 Total
Region2 policy1 policy2
AgentType1 Total Total
Agenttype2 Total Total

(this is where i am having the problem)

I managed to get all the information I needed in the
Report except for Agent Totals. I am having a little
bit of a logic problem on how to get the totals for a
particular agent type with each policy.
Right now my layout only has ONE grouping which holds
the region types. my dataset basically is how the
report is going to look like without the totals.
Is there an expression I can use that would identify
what type of agent that is and then add the total ?
kinda like the following:-
=IIF(agenttype = "AgentType1", Sum(all agent totals
for policy 1), "")
Am I heading in the right direction ?
Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Can you create an UPDATE TRIGGER and use some typeof code to figure out which SP just updated the current table?If not how can i achieve what i want?I tried to run SQL Profiler and i don't understand why i can'tsimply have the Profiler filter events only for the specific database idand the table's object id i chose?What am i doing wrong with SQL Profiler? I was testing thisthrough SQL EM. I am still learning T-SQL .Lets consider the table below, ID 1-3 shows our purchase transactions from various Vendors and ID 4-6 shows our payments to them

I want that SQL should look for each individual party from Table 1 and Calculate TOTAL PURCHASE and TOTAL PAYMENTS and then deduct TOTAL PAYMENTS from TOTAL PURCHASE so we get the remaining balance due for each party and then add the DIFFERENCE AMOUNT alongwith PARTY to the TABLE 2 so I can get the desired result like below

I want to ship 500,000 aged transactions each night to an archive table and delete them from their source table in one or more logical units of work (LUW). Each row is approx 60 bytes and there is only one non clustered index on the source table presently.
I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of 3 alternatives. One of them would basically insert the non-aged rows into tempdb, ship the aged records, truncate the table and then insert the tempdb records back into their source all in the same LUW.
For this alternative, I'd at least like to turn off logging when the records get inserted into tempdb as I dont see any value in logging that part of the activity. Is this possible?

We have a "main" SQL 2014 server who imports XML files using SSIS in a datacenter. In remote sites (which are warehouses), there is an instance of SQL 2014 Express. A merge replication is setup, as every operations done on each site must be "forwared" to the main database, as some XML files are generated as output for an ERP system.
Now, the merge replication replicate all the data to the server on each sites. But a specific site don't need the data of every other sites, only the data relevant to itself (which is the warehouse code). Is there a way to replicate only the data relevant to each individual sites to the subscribers? Or is there a better way than replication to accomplish this?

Good day,
I have a SSRS 2000 report that when I view the report data does not refresh until I press the refresh data button in the report. Clearly this can't be right and to expect users to press the refresh button every single time is also rediculous.
HAs anyone had this problem before and know what to do.

My report links to a SQL server and is not showing the latest information. If I open it now and look at the report, close it and open it again ina few hours it will show the same report as I looked at originally. When I push the reports refresh button then the data refreshes and shows all the information.
The execution for the report is already set to: Do not cache temporary copies of this report
Why does this happen? I have about 40 reports that work perfectly but this one is giving me problems, any one got any ideas for me? Please help.

Hi,
I'm am writing a report in SSRS 2005 on a local PC that uses cubes in AS 2000 on another server as a datasource. I am using the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Extension (OLAP9) to connect to the cubes using windows authentication. I can save and preview the report in visual studio and publish the reports on IIS on my local PC with no problems but when I go to view the report in IE, I get the following error:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Query execution failed for data set 'dataset'.
Unable to recognize the requested property ID 'ReturnCellProperties'.
Have read various articles on the net with no conclusive explanation.
I have seen another post on this forum that suggests using OLEDB for Analysis Services instead but if I do this it doesn't allow me to use the MDX visual query designer. Creating the report using OLAP9 then changing to OLEDB and pasting in the query code doesn't work so well either.
I went and read http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159219.aspx about data sources supported by SSRS 2005 and it should be ok.
I am using sql server 2005 with the latest service pack 2.
Any ideas?

I am very early on in developing a website to track issues with projects which is tied to a SQL database. I have my Projects Table, my Users Table, and am creating a third table to track issues. I'm wondering what is the best way to assign specific users to specific data/projects. The user should only be able to view & update the projects assigned to him. He should not be able to see other projects. What is the best way to assign projects/data to the users to make sure they are only viewing their data?

Here is the scenario: I have a report in SSRS 2005 that uses an OLE DB connection to send a MDX query to an AS 2000 cube. The report has been working fine for weeks. When the report ran today, it returned the row and column metadata, but not the cell values.
I ran the MDX query separately in the SSRS query editor pane, and it returns all values properly. I was also able to perform the query using ProClarity, so it appears that the issue is between the result set and SSRS.
What would cause this to happen?

Hi,
We are in the process of upgrading a SQL Server 2000 database to 2005. For the mean time, we're trying it out on SQL Server Express 2005. My question is, can reports in SSRS 2005 pull data from SQL Server 2000 in case both are installed side by side in the same machine and the 2000 version is the default instance while the 2005 express edition is the named instance?

I am new to SSRS. I am doing some report models for Ad-hoc reports. Im my database i have some users and their roles according to my requirement. User should only see the particular reports if he have privilege. how to customize...
User will access Report Builder to do adhoc report.
For example
I have 5 report Models
rptModel1
rptModel2
rptModel3
rptModel4
rptModel5
In my data base there are 3 users.
user1 have privilege to view rptModel1, rptModel3
user2 have privilege to view rptModel4, rptModel5
user3 have privilege to view rptModel2, rptModel5
When Particular user access the report builder, There i want to show only that particular Report models...
is there any posibilities to do this please Help me.

I have a requirement to display the total of a Group after subtracting a specific value from the same Group.
Example: Say the below data is grouped on a particular column
Group Values Month
Jan-15 Feb-15 Mar-15
A 10 20 30
B 5 10 25
C 1 2 3
D 5 10 15
Total 11 22 33
Formula is : Sum(A+C+D)- Sum(B)
What is the best way to Group the above scenario from SSRS level and display the result as shown above. I am able to display all the values except the last total row where am displaying the complete total i.e. 21 42 73.
How do I dynamically subtract the values for row B which is one of the group values.

I'm struggling with trying to display a single vertical stripline at a date value along my x-axis.
I'm using the following non-default settings within the stripline editor:
bordercolor = tomato
borderstyle = solid
borderwidth = 1pt
intervaloffset = Fields!uidate.Value.ToOADate()
where uidate is a calculated field in my dataset that always has the value of 05/29/2012 (using formatdatetime("05/29/2012",dateformat.ShortDate))
Everything else is set to Auto, with stripwidth=0
I'm trying to display a single vertical line at the x-axis value of 05/29/2012
I have previously tried setting the interval offset to "05/29/2012" but that didn't work. I've also tried setting the value of a hidden text box on the report to "05/29/2012" and setting the interval offset to the value of that text box, but that gave me a "text box not declared" error.
How I can simply display a vertical stripline on my line graph at the x-axis value of 05/29/2012 ?

I upgraded from SQL server 7.0 to 2000 not long ago, I'm running 2000 SP3, WIN 2K. Things worked fine for several weeks after the upgrade but now I'm experiencing Enterprise Manager hang in the case of one database only, when I try to view the design of a VIEW. I can open the VIEW fine and look at the results, EM only hangs when I try to view design.
I have checked another of the active DBs on my server and it is fine, no EM hang.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

**I just realized that I'm running SP3, not SP4 (corrected above). Correct me if I'm wrong but does MS have a fix for this problem in SP4? I seem to recall a similar issue in the KB.

I'm working on a report to show financial transactions from a table over a certain period. For most transactions there is a PDF document that is stored in a separate table in a binairy format. In my report I would like to include a link on every line with transaction information in the report that opens the PDF that is linked to that transaction. Just to be clear, I don't want to embed the PDF in the report but I want the users of the report to have the option to view the PDF that is related to that transaction in their standard pdf reader (adobe).
Code to do the following:
Once a user clicks on the link to view the PDF I need the code to get the binairy data of the PDF file from the table, convert it back to a PDF and open it in the default pdf reader (for example adobe reader). If it can't directly open the file then it's maybe possible to activate the 'open or download' pop up that you also get when you download something from a website.

Hi,Can anybody tell me if it is possible to return a table data type (asopposed to a temporary table) from a stored procedure.I am currently studying for 70-229 using the Thomas Moore book but itdoesn't really make it clear, as the text suggests you can't returnthem but some of his sample questions suggest you can.I can't make it work in Query Analyser so I am assuming that you can'treturn them. I'm trying to get a database from SQL2005 to SQL2000. I already recreated the database in SQL2005 and I'm just trying to get some data from just a few tables.
It doesn't appear the DTS or any export functionality is available in my version of SQL Express 2005...so how do I do this. I've tried installing everything I can find.
I've also tried BCP but I keep getting these errors:

This is a LOCAL database and I have tried -T for trusted, I have also tried a username and password combination. The database is set to Allow Remote connections. Nothing is working.

Situation

John is member of Group_A and Group_B
Bill is member of Group_B and Group_C
Allison is member of Group_A and Group_E
How can I create a query to input Allisons username into table 1 and groupmembership into table 2. Also updating the relationship within table3 must be done automaticaly. I want to avoid duplicate records.
The final situation I want is given in red text.
The relationships between the tables are as follows
