When ever I open using SQL Entreprise manager to edit it by adding or removing a field i inserts Expr1,2.. and I don t want that. The result I get is:

I don t want Entreprise manager to generate the Expr fields since I use the real fields in my application.

I Cannot View Table Content In MS SQL Server Express
Mar 19, 2007I was able to view table content easily before, but after Ireinstalled everything, I cannot find the option to view table contentin MS SQL Server Express. I can define table with no problem. Checkout the screen snapshot below, from which you'll see that the popupmenu frrom right-clicking on the table name does not have the "Opentable" option. after running DBCC DBREINDEX (otrnTransaction)
the query start working well
What could cause damage to index ?

Please note that I'm having the below problem:
1- when i run "DBcc CheckDB ('DBName') with all_errormsgs"
I Get:
Could not read and latch page (1:173) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed.
2- then :
select * from sysindexes
Gave me:
I/O error (torn page) detected during read at offset 0x0000000015a000 in file 'C:DataDatabasesOld_Data.MDF'.
Connection Broken
3- dbcc checktable ('sysindexes')
Could not read and latch page (1:173) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed.
Server: Msg 8939, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Table error: Object ID 2, index ID 0, page (1:173). Test (IS_ON (BUF_IOERR, bp->bstat) && bp->berrcode) failed. Values are 2057 and -1.CHECKTABLE found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in table 'sysindexes' (object ID 2).
Forth of all, I can't use a backup because it is old.
Can i copy system tables from old database to the current one that we are using...
I tried to export and import data from this corrupted database but it would give me errors...
Is there anyway that i can adjust this database.

Damaged Databases

I recently had a hard disk failure on which was running Win2003 SQL2000 SP4.
This server is a sharepoint backend server, I repaired the disk to the point that it could be mirrored across to a new and then set about looking at the databases. There was a schedule in place to backup all 4 DBs daily, the backup process at no time after verifying the backup had any errors. All but one of the DBs reports this error when I attempt to run DBCC or similar query I/O error (bad page ID) detected during read at offset etc. (error 823) I have restored back to the earliest DBs I have and I still get the same error.
Any ideas on how I can recover as much as possible if not all of the DBs? What is the best way to restore from a transaction log? I have found a few articles on it and they all take a slightly different approach for differnet situations however I'm not entirely sure which applies to me.
All help will be very much appreciated.

How Do I Quickly Populate A New Database With Place-holder Content?
Apr 28, 2008I am using SQL server to create a rather complicated client database for a nonprofit organization. I have access to an ancient version of the database in Access format, but would rather create a new database from scratch instead of "up-sizing" the old database. Although the old database is mostly useless, it contains a goldmine of names and addresses that I could use to populate the new database that I'm creating. My question is this: Is there any relatively easy way to cut and paste from external data sources into a new SQL database? For example, I would love to just select twenty rows of "first names" from the old database and then paste that into my new table. Can anyone suggest any quick and easy tricks for populating a new database with place-holder content? Thanks!

I have the post title, post date, post by, etc stored in a database table, however I was wondering whether I should store the actual post content in the database as well or in a text file. For example, if the posts get really long would it slow down database performance or would there not be much of a difference? Furthermore, if I wanted to keep the posts private, a text file would not be ideal as it can be accessed easily by surfers... What do you recommend?Thanks a lot

Feb 23, 2007I've installed ADS on a windows mobile 5.0 device and am trying to run the sample Wizard application. It connects to the test database on the device OK, but fails to connect to the database on the desktop with the error:
"The HTTP request failed due to incorrect format or content. Try restarting the IIS server"
I've tried changing the port from 1024 in case it was already in use, but this doesn't change the error. Nor does restarting IIS (v5.1). IIS appears to be running correctly on the desktop.
Any ideas what to try next?

I have two databases, MS Access and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
Using a procedure in Visual Studio i would like to copy all the records from one table in MS Access into an existing table in SQL Server (the tables have the same name and the same layout)
I tried to prepare one Dataset to copy from Access into SQL Server but when i run the command 'DaSQL.Update(DsSQL, "Tabella") nothing happens (not even an exeption has been raised), looking during debug, the DataSet seems filled though...
Please could anyone explain what's wrong and / or is there a more quicker way to copy data from a table to another?
Note i woul have as a final goal to get data from an AS400 database by ODBC, manage it, and put it on SQL Server for a 'data mining' scope (eliminating the use of MS Access, not suited for FE-BE).

ROUTING IS VIA FIRE WALL.
SUDDENLY THE SITE GOT DEAD SLOW AND UNABLE TO TRACE THE PROBLEM AS EVERY THING LOOKS FINE.
Checked with the firewall Team and they stated its fine from their end & even we have verified the counters, CPU, Memory & Page life expectancy, buffer counters all looks good and even we do not have huge data in the database. We have only 50 concurrent users are working...

I just found that the content of my Database "ssmsExpressDB" is gone, but the name "ssmsExpressDB" remains in the Object Explorer of SQL Server Management Studio Express. If I delected the name "ssmsExpressDB" and executed the following .sql:

And I have closed all my projects and I do not know what " The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" is all about!? Please help and tell me how I can re-attach the content of my "ssmsExpressDB" in the Object Explorer of SQL Server Management Studio Express.

Database Stored Procedures Not Showing Up In Database View
Jan 31, 2008Hi I have an application that I have started to develop. I have successfully set the connection to open the SQL Server database that I created. When I first started on the program, I was able to create Table Adapters by dragging the tables or stored procedures onto the DataSet work surface and going through the configuration process. At one point, however, I stopped being able to see any of my stored procedures in the database view although they are there because when I go to create a new table adapter, I am able to right click and add the new adapter and find the stored procedure in the wizard.Is there any way I can reset this so that my stored procedures are visible again. I have tried refreshing to no avail - and I think this is creating problems in other parts of the application.Any help appreciate.Roger

I have no trouble reading the database through the gridview, but when i try to add a script that allows me to add to that database off of my site, I get error after error.

How Do You Delcare A Variable In A Database View
Apr 14, 2007I am trying to create a database View using Visual Studio 2005. I have joined the tables and it creates the SELECT statement and WHERE statement which says:
WHERE (dbo.tblStoresStudios001.C_ID = @C_ID)
When I try to save it message comes up telling me to declare C_ID. I have tried int C_ID before the SELECT as if it were a stored procedure but that is not working. What dumb mistake am I making? I have not worked with views before.

Can I setup the DB that creates the view to point at the DB with the tables so when I say new view it looks at the tables in that DB ...
User Can View All Database Names

When I login as this new user everything works fine BUT my newly created user can still see other database names even though he is not allowed to use them.
How can I prevent him from seeing other database names.
