I run SSIS using DTEXEC command. The output of the SSIS are getting truncated after X caracters.

This is a typical message which doesn't really debug. (as the full path would show me the DB name...)

Is there a way to get a longer message?

Too Many Records In View

Mar 19, 2004

I am trying to create a very simple view to associate the EVP from an HR data table (TBLCCINFORMATIONFEBRUARY04) of 65,000 records with the entries in a lost savings table (TBLCCYEARTOTALS) of 1,939 records. This is the View query:
SELECT dbo.TBLCCYEARTOTALS.*, dbo.TBLCCINFORMATIONFEBRUARY04.EVPREPORTNAME AS EVPREPORTNAME
FROM dbo.TBLCCYEARTOTALS INNER JOIN
dbo.TBLCCINFORMATIONFEBRUARY04 ON dbo.TBLCCYEARTOTALS.VPAWID = dbo.TBLCCINFORMATIONFEBRUARY04.VPAWID

The view is returning 2,516,488 records, and I can see the same data repeating over and over again. What am I doing to create these additional records?

Thanks!

Help With Returning A Certain # Of Records From A View.

Jul 20, 2005

I have a view that will return say 5000 records when I do a simpleselect query on that view like.select *from vw_test_viewHow can I set up my query to only return a certain # of records, saythe first 300?Here is what is going on, we have a large amount of data that returnsin a view and we need to work with all of it eventually, However wewant to do it in chunks. So my thoughts were as follows:1. To run a query to return X amount of the total data for us to workwith.2. Update these records with a flag in a table that the vw_test_viewfilters out.3. The next time I run the query to pull data from the view it willskip the records that I have already looked at (because of step 2) andpull the next X amount of records.Thanks in advance,Mike

Creating Records Based SQL View

Oct 30, 2007

I have a spreadsheet that we download from one of our customers that contains Sales Order Release information. The spreadsheets contains 1-n releases per part #.

I have a SQL 2000 view that groups this information into a smaller table (after importing into SQL).

I need to take this view and create 1-n release records based on our production run qty and put it in a new table. I have a field in my view that contains the desired # of records to create.

Since I never used TSQL to loop through table/view, how do I do this. Following is what the output should look like:

From SQL view
---------------------------------------
Part #: 11124A1
Qty Due:175
Run Qty: 50
# Release to Generate: 4

Output to Table
----------------------

Part # QtyDue RunQty
----------------------------------------------------
11124A1 50 50
11124A1 50 50
11124A1 50 50
11124A1 25 50

Note QtyDue is the production run qty, with the last record containing the remaining QtyDue from view's Qty Due

Giving Permission To View CERTAIN Records

Dec 4, 2006

I've been looking through permissions to see if it's possible to grant a user permission to see only certain records from a table.

For example:

I'm granting users to view records in the table 'Sales', but I only want the users to see their respective data.

User A should only be able to see Sales where Sales.Location = 1

User B should only be able to see Sales where Sales.Location = 2

... and so on.

I believe I've read this is possible, but in looking through the permissions you can define, I've only found where you can limit the columns a user sees, not records.

Anyone have any ideas or did I just remember something wrong?

Inserting Records Using The Details View Or Programmatically

Aug 26, 2006

I'm a new user to vwd.  If I use a details view control on my page, I have noticed that the "New" link is not visible unless there is at least one record in the table. Is there any way of making it visible where there aren't any records?My web pages are currently hosted at vwdhosting. I have uploaded my database with the record structure onto the web site and I am using a remote connection string to access it. I have had users updating data in another table on the remote database. If I add records to my new table locally and upload the database to the remote site, all the data that my users have been adding will be lost. So, if I can't add my first record using a control on my web page when there are no records in the table, should I be doing it programmatically? If so, how?Thanks,Julie

SYSAdmin Users Do Not Have Permission To See Records In A View?

Sep 15, 2006

We have a third party application and wish to create a report based upon a view.

The strange thing is logged in to the server as a SQL SYSAdmin account, we cannot view the data via the view. SQL Admin accounts are setup correctly and there is nothing different on this particular server. No errors are returned just a blank view with no records.

Could this be a permissions problem or orphaned schemas in that particular database? I thought SYSAdmin could view and do just about anything and the people who use this particular database would not have the know how on denying permission to the SYSAdmin role.

Thanks

Decimal Truncated

Feb 22, 2008

I'm a newbie to Transact-SQL so I apologize if this is a stupid question. Whenever I try to divide two variables of type int, I get a result where the decimal part is truncated. Here is an example:

ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[DIVIDE_TEST]

AS

BEGIN

-- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from

-- interfering with SELECT statements.

SET NOCOUNT ON;

DECLARE

@VAR1 int,

@VAR2 int,

@MYRESULT dec(10,5)

SELECT @VAR1 = 10

SELECT @VAR2 = 3

SELECT @MYRESULT = (@VAR1/@VAR2)

SELECT @MYRESULT

-- @MYRESULT has decimal part truncated, Returned value = 3.00000

END

Any ideas?

UDF Parameter Truncated

Jul 13, 2006

I have a problem with a NVARCHAR(MAX) parameter being truncated.

The signature of the UDF is:

[SqlFunction(FillRowMethodName = "SplitFillRow",IsPrecise=true,IsDeterministic=true,
DataAccess = DataAccessKind.None,TableDefinition = "pos INT, token NVARCHAR(10) ")]
public static IEnumerable SplitText (SqlChars input, SqlString strDelimiter)
{...

and deployed as:

CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[SplitText](@input [nvarchar](max), @strDelimiter [nvarchar](10))
....

But it is still being truncated to 8000 characters. I tried using a sqlstring or using
([SqlFacet(MaxSize = -1,IsFixedLength=false)] on the parameter and a bunch of other things, but it is still truncated to 8000.

I am out of ideas...anyone with a tip?

Thanks

Values Getting Truncated When Sent To SQL Server

Jul 8, 2004

I have a standard asp.net form and a single database table that I’m trying to pass data into. There are three nvarchar fields of lengths 50, 150, and 2400. Whenever I do an insert or update it truncates all data except for the first character. So if I pass “asdfasdf, the db field will only receive “a.

The data going from the form is correct; it gets truncated somewhere after the ExecuteNonQuery() call.

Here is the c# code:

public bool InsertCareer (DataRow row) {
SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(connStr);
try {
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand();
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
cmd.CommandText = storedProcs[(int)StoredProcedures.Insert];
cmd.Connection = conn;
cmd.Parameters.Add("@pkCareerID", row[0]);
cmd.Parameters.Add("@jobTitle", row[1]);
cmd.Parameters.Add("@postedDate", row[2]);
cmd.Parameters.Add("@submitBy", row[3]);
cmd.Parameters.Add("@department", row[4]);
cmd.Parameters.Add("@description", row[5]);
cmd.Parameters.Add("@intranet", row[6]);
cmd.Parameters.Add("@public", row[7]);

conn.Open();
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
return true;
} catch (Exception ex) {
//… stuff
return false;
} finally {
conn.Close();
}
}

This is the sproc code:

CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.zak_CareersIU_sp
@pkCareerID int,
@jobTitle nvarchar,
@postedDate datetime,
@submitBy datetime,
@department nvarchar,
@description nvarchar,
@intranet bit,

AS

IF EXISTS (SELECT pkCareerID FROM zak_Careers WHERE pkCareerID=@pkCareerID)

BEGIN
UPDATE zak_Careers SET
jobTitle=@jobTitle,
postedDate=@postedDate,
submitBy=@submitBy,
department=@department,
[description]=@description,
intranet=@intranet,
[public]=@public
WHERE
pkCareerID=@pkCareerID
END
ELSE
BEGIN
INSERT INTO zak_Careers
(jobTitle, postedDate, submitBy, department, [description], intranet, [public])
VALUES
(@jobTitle, @postedDate, @submitBy, @department, @description, @intranet, @public)
END

Query String Is Being Truncated

Aug 16, 2004

Hi,
I have hit a brick wall with this. My code is as below

public void fillCustomer()
{
string connectionString = "server='local'; trusted_connection= true; integrated security=sspi; database='Mrbob'";
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection dbConnection = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(connectionString);
string queryString = "SELECT * FROM [Customer] WHERE ([CustomerID] = @CustomerID)";
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand dbCommand= new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand();
dbCommand.CommandText = queryString;
dbCommand.Connection = dbConnection;
System.Data.IDataParameter param_CustomerID = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlParameter();
param_CustomerID.ParameterName ="@CustomerID";
param_CustomerID.Value = customerID;dbCommand.Parameters.Add("@CustomerID", SqlDbType.Int);
dbCommand.Connection.Open();
System.Data.IDataReader dataReader = dbCommand.ExecuteReader();
dbCommand.Connection.Close();
while(dataReader.Read())
{
customerID = dataReader.GetInt32(0);
date = dataReader.GetDateTime(1);
eposCode = dataReader.GetInt32(2);
}
dataReader.Close();

}

The error I am getting is

Prepared statement '(@CustomerID int)SELECT * FROM [Customer] WHERE ([CustomerID] = ' expects parameter @CustomerID, which was not supplied.

As you can see from my queryString the @CustomerID parameter is passed in. It seems as if the string is being truncated at 64 characters long. If I remove the paramter to pass the relevant infomration and pass in a customerID I know exists it works.

I am really stumped on this and would really appreciate any pointers
